Have any of you heard about the new app Resistbot? You may all already know about it, but I just learned about it and in fact used it for the first time this morning to contact my Representative and Senators. I admit to being a little apprehensive that maybe this was some "Russian bot," and I was somehow being sucked into the vortex of election manipulation. But I decided to trust Huffington Post. Who would have thought we would ever have to worry about things like that? How quickly our world is changing. Anyway, I gave it a try. Some of you may have tried it. If not and you want to here's a link about it. By the way, I did use it with Messenger rather than sharing my phone number. www.huffpost.com/entry/resistbot-faxes-politicians_n_58d8a426e4b03692bea70829

Is there even any point in mentioning the shooting in Gilroy, CA anymore? Will anything ever change? Or do we all need to just start wearing bullet proof vests everywhere we go and hope the shooters can't aim well enough for a headshot?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . . seems that a lot of those rodent infested apartments in Baltimore are owned by none other than Slumlord Jared. I saw that too. It will be ignored by the administration and its enablers. I was in Morgan Hill which is next to Gilroy the day before the shooting. Getting close to home. Another competent person leaving - Coates. The next one up has no qualifications as far as I know other than giving Mueller crap at the testimony.

Evidently the secret all Republicans in Washington have learned is that if you want to move up in Trump world be sure you have nothing to really qualify you for a job, but very loudly on television shout all the slogans you know the JA favors and belittle anyone who might actually know something. Sure fire way to get a promotion.

I misspoke in the post above. You DO have to give your phone number to utilize Resistbot. I did it anyway. It was worth it to me, but wanted to correct my earlier post.
They also have a straw poll about presidential candidates. I wonder if the results indicate at all the ages of people most likely to use that medium? Interesting anyway. Here are the results when I checked about an hour ago.
------------
"Here are the top ten endorsed candidates so far out of 25,102 votes:"
Warren 47% Sanders 13% Harris 12% Buttigieg 8% Yang 8% Biden 6% O'Rourke 3% Williamson 1% Booker 1% Castro 1%
It surprised me that Biden came in so low and that Yang came in so high. Does that surprise you? And it surprises me that Williamson is on there at all.

OMG, now he's trying to associate himself as a first responder on 9/11. "I was down there also, but I'm not considering myself a first responder," Trump said. "But I was down there. I spent a lot of time down there with you." And in his deluded mind he probably even makes himself believe it as he utters this nonsense.
What did Trump actually say on 9/11 when the twin towers fell: "40 Wall Street actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and it was actually, before the World Trade Center, was the tallest—and then, when they built the World Trade Center, it became known as the second-tallest. And now it's the tallest."
Yeah, that's what I call a hero alright.

Every sentence that comes out of his foul mouth starts with "I". He is his biggest fan. I still don't see what any sane or reasonable people see in him. He's not a self made man.
He's daddies spoiled little rich fat cat. He knows he's nothing too. That's why he keeps telling everyone how wonderful he is. He has to convince himself. But he knows the truth and so do we. He is nothing. No one. IMHO, of course.

Looking forward to tonight's and tomorrow night's debates. We need to start narrowing down the field, and after these debates tonight and tomorrow night it will likely begin to get a little less crowded. We still have a long way to go, and it's good to have lots of ideas floating around out there. I'm not really hearing a lot in the way of new ideas, however. All of the most likely candidates are people I can get behind. I'd like to have universal healthcare, but I don't really understand the Medicare For All plans yet. What happens with the 20% coverage gap? Medicare Advantage type plans sound good, but in my area of the country now they are not widely accepted by doctors. Although if that's what everyone had, then I guess they would have to be accepted. I definitely want drug prices to be able to be negotiated by Medicare. Prescription drug prices here compared to other countries are way out of line, and I think it's got a lot to do with the facts that 1) Medicare is not allowed to negotiate them, and 2) citizens are not allowed to buy from countries like Canada.
I'm not in favor of free college for everyone, but I do think there needs to be a way for those performing service to pay off student debt loans with their work, and there needs to be a cap on the interest charged for them.
I think it is long past time to get serious about gun violence and climate change.
So let the best candidate win.

Another thing I had lost sight of: The Director of Housing and Urban Development (the inimitable Ben Carson) lived in Baltimore! How come his department hasn't done anything, if it's so bad? Isn't this exactly what he is responsible for? (This info was courtesy of The View. I watch the first half hour for the political commentary.)
Carson has been weighing in saying, Cummings and DT should work together, but nary a word about how his Department has or hasn't contributed.
I know, it's always the individual States' responsibility if it's something the Ruling Party doesn't care about (election security, healthcare, urban poverty), but it's a Federal matter is the issue is in their agenda - immigration, packing the courts, limiting reproductive rights, and so on.

OK, so what did you think of last night's debate? Who do you think was a winner or a loser? Who surprised you? Did you come away feeling better or worse about our ultimate chances of defeating Trump?

I didn't tune in until about 40 minutes in and I didn't watch for very long. What I saw did not change my opinion of any of the candidates. You can either think Bernie is passionate or just bombastic. Mayor Pete (I still can't remember how to spell his last name without looking it up) speaks to me the most, but his poll numbers are so low I don't think he will be a factor.
I am more interested in tonight's debate.

The debate last night was pretty fiery, but stuck primarily to policy rather than personal attacks although there were definitely some coming after Bernie and Elizabeth trying to make their mark--coming after them as being too far left. It was good, and if nothing else continued to bring home the point that we have a lot of good people to choose from. Like you lani, I am looking forward to tonight. I wish we had the luxury of just trying to decide which candidate among them all we like the best, but unfortunately we're trapped in this who is most likely to be able to defeat Trump era. Because if that doesn't happen, then nothing else matters.

Does anybody think it's strange that the debate tonight discussing the evils of the drug companies is brought to you by big pharma?
WTH?
No really. WTH?

but unfortunately we're trapped in this who is most likely to be able to defeat Trump era. If I still believed in fair elections I'd be more than pleased with most of them. But, I don't have an ounce of faith in fair and honest elections anymore. Russia, and Goddess only knows who else, is able to hack into and change or create an outcome pleasing to them. Also, money changes everything. That, with the fact that so many voters are just as mean, angry, hateful, racist, etc as the monster in the WH doesn't give me much hope in a victory for Sanity, Sense, and Reason. Would you believe when I was a younger woman people would tell me I was laid back and easy going? Me neither. lol.
