We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Just waiting for Bannon et all to start handing out yellow, green, red, brown stars and triangles and us having to show papers going from region to region or state. Just a matter of time before we have our own brown shirted and Black and Tan, criminals patrolling our streets.
We are becoming what we were fighting AGAINST in WWII.

Wake up.
Brush teeth. Make coffee.
Call Congress.
May the Force (of resistance) be with you.
Remember ― A call a day keeps the Trump away.
202-225-3121 (or 202-224-3121 if busy)
Dog and cat and spouse will have to wait!

DH & I were just chatting about the fact that altho Tweety is ignorant, says & does really stupid things, brags all the time about himself, etc, the really really dangerous thing of all is Steve Bannon whispering in Tweety's ear & pulling the puppet strings. This dude is trying to pull wool over everyone's eyes & Steven Miller is his shadow. Priebus is being played by Bannon & too dumb to see it. ....on Amazon Prime video there is a series called The Man in the High Castle. 2 seasons so far. Very eerie & alarming..It takes place after WW11 & if Japan & Germany had won that war, this is how the US was divided & rest of world was divided in half...when Anne mentioned badges, triangles & stars it made me think of this series. UGH!

"We are becoming what we were fighting AGAINST in WWII."
Yep. Don't worry though. That will NEVER happen here. We're different. (Tongue firmly placed in cheek now.)
It's not that we haven't been warned about this!
It's an embarrassment just how stupid some Americans have become. Is stupidity an epidemic now with no cure in sight? I've had it with stupid people. I mean it. I don't want them near me. I'm not interested in what they have to say which is usually mindless chatter anyway. I'm allergic to them. If they get too close I break out in disgust and uncontrollable anger.

Anne, I liked what your friend Matt had to say yesterday. But there's a new breed of Christians out there with new rules. Matt is old school. Here's a few examples of the new Christians. Or, what I like to call the Crusade type Christians.
All those red words in the bible, the things that Jesus said, are to be ignored. What did he know anyway? He was a dark skinned Jewish dude that asked all kinds of men to follow him around. He seemed to enjoy their company. Wink, wink. Suspicious, right? Not only that, he also talked with and respected the opinion of women. Yep. Women. What's with that?
All references to love, peace, and understanding, are to be ignored. That's Ivory Snow wimpy stuff. The only quotes worthy of spewing in the new bible are words that encourage anger, hate, war, greed, and selfishness. They aren't used to spread good news. They are weapons used to destroy Thought, Reason, Intellect and mostly to divide people. They only exist for loud and obnoxious pounding or thumping.
This new Christianity isn't a spiritual journey. It's a PAC. It looks like a time when all people had to believe in God and the church ruled. No wonder we call it The Dark Ages.
This new Christianity doesn't seem to believe a loving God created mankind in His image, but that man created god in his image. Intolerant, sexist, homophobic, greedy, stupid, violent, etc.
"If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." 1 Corinthians 13:1
There's a whole lot of clanging going on out there. lol.

Agreed that the Bannon clique in the WH is what we most need to fear. Tweety just wants adulation. If left to himself, he'd spend most of his time holding pep rallies in his own honor. Probably come running out onto the stage with skimpily clad cheerleaders waving pom poms. Bannon, however, is another story altogether, and I agree that he is pulling Tweety's puppet strings. As long as they can get some of their agenda passed and signed, I don't think the Rs in Congress care. They're not paying attention, and Bannon is minding the store.
Who would have thought we would ever look back at Chaney pulling W's strings and think we are far worse off now than we were then? Just goes to show that it can always get worse.

Dan Rather........ Another day, another attack by the President of the United States against reputable news organizations. Today's venue, a fiery speech at CPAC (the Conservative Political Action Conference). Calling something "fake news", Mr. President, doesn't make it so, no matter how loud the applause is amongst your acolytes. You seems to believe that the American public can't see that you are protesting the truth getting out, while not really denying the specifics of the reporting in any convincing way. Attacking the messenger while not being able to counter the firehose of leaks that suggest very worrisome developments, will not cause the press to blink. Quite the contrary. Reporters are instinctual, and the louder and more vehement your protests, the more we will be inclined to dig. As for how this is playing across the country, I get the sense that an increasing number of Americans are getting tired of the tirades and immune to the distractions. Onward.

And so it begins..... Huff Post...
The White House blocked several news outlets from attending a closed-door briefing Friday afternoon with press secretary Sean Spicer, a decision that drew strong rebukes from news organizations and may only heighten tensions between the press corps and the administration.
The New York Times and CNN, both of which have reported critically on the administration and are frequent targets of President Donald Trump, were prohibited from attending. The Huffington Post was also denied entry.
Both the Associated Press and Time magazine, which were allowed to enter, boycotted out of solidarity with those news organizations kept out. ........
Gosh I wish more would just boycott in solidarity. ......

I agree that Bannon's new world order is a bridge to far. This is not the conservative party my parents and grandparents belonged to. I keep thinking of the values fought and died for in WWII. Its only natural that people have different world views and our country gives us the right to argue about and debate them but, this alt-right stuff is wholly different. This way of thinking is a disease that needs to be eradicated from the people's house.

This way of thinking is a disease that needs to be eradicated from the people's house. The "people's house," the WH as well as Congress seems to have completely lost sight of this truth. There is no one in the WH with what's good for the people as their agenda, and the Republican led congress doesn't give a flip what happens to those of us they are supposed to be representing either. I wonder what the person in the Unknown Soldier's tomb would have to say about the mess we are in now. Would he regret his sacrifice? I can't imagine he ever expected what we are seeing now. Tweety, I believe at Bannon's instigation, is trying to completely discredit the press. Personally, I think that will ultimately be his downfall.

"Tweety, I believe at Bannon's instigation, is trying to completely discredit the press. Personally, I think that will ultimately be his downfall."
I hope so and I'm not a big fan of hope. My worry is the press will be discredited instead. People that vowed to "never forget" and "united we stand" seem to have a deadly and dangerous case of amnesia as well as being brainwashed. Their cabinets must be chuck full of snake oil!
At this moment I feel the press is our only life boat. Having only one life boat terrifies me and keeps me awake at night. If the evil doers manage to sink the boat we're doomed and future generations don't have much of a future. Other than that things are looking up. lol.
