Wow, nice to see that everyone showed up today!!!
Ruth, glad you got your "order" from DGD. Nice that you have time until February.....once you are sure if they really want the shawl and hat. Keep busy grandma! Last week you were unsure if you were going to make the tarts- you had said something about Marie Callendars pie you bought and figured that Dh would finish that....and then maybe you would bake. No, you were not repeating yourself one bit! Thanks for the advice on the hat band too....
Phyl congrats on getting major progress done on the scarf! I would probably not take out the bumpy cable. No one but you will notice. Have fun wrapping presents!
CJ- sitting out in 50 degree weather sounds nice! What has possessed you to all the sudden take on these cleaning/fixing projects? Seems like you are keeping very busy getting your household in order. (When you finish at your house, wanna come help me? Hahaha).
Meg, you sure are busy! Hope you can find some time with those knitting needles and an audio book.
Dd is home from school (yay!). Think we are going to watch a movie on the hallmark channel- a Christmas movie. Probably will not crochet tonight, as I have not decided which pattern yet.
Have a wonderful evening Ginny

Ginny - believe me, my house is not in order I did not get what I call the Suzy Homemaker gene. I take advantage of any times that I actually feel like getting any cleaning done. The reason I've been working on clearing things out is that I know I'll have to move out of this house someday and I'm trying to weed out things that I know I wouldn't take with me. Even with this clearing out I've kept some things that really have no purpose and I know I should get rid of them, but I can't yet. Maybe someday. Another thing I always worry about is if something happened to me, then I'd have left all this "stuff" for my family to have to go through. I'd hate to do that to them. Hope you're all having a good evening

hate to tell you if is fogged. I was having trouble with getting row 5 to come out even. so don't know if the yarn running through 8 or actually row 1. should have been row 8 with that yarn strip. I do keep track of my row. so time to take a break from the cable and do something else. sometimes when we make a mistake some where it doesn't affect the pattern till a few rows later.phyl

Good morning everyone,
DGD phoned me a got me out of bed. She and her DH are spending Christmas in Georgia with her in laws. This will be the first Christmas that she has not been here so I will miss her. DGD #2 has the day off work and is busy getting her Christmas gifts wrapped on my kitchen table. This afternoon I will go to my Knit Wits Gp. We will all take a gift to exchange, and there will be goodies to share as well. I haven't done any knitting for a couple of days. My v/blanket is getting too ig to take so I will have to find something else to work on that I can take.
Ginny I am sure you are happy to have your DD home for the holidays. Have fun together.
cj, I understand why you are de cluttering and I am sure your relatives will appreciate not having too much to get rid off. Lets hope you will be around for a few more years. I need to get rid of a lot of my stuff ad I do try.
Phyl, I am so sorry you are still having a problem with your cable pattern. You have been giving it a good try. Sometime when I get stuck if I put it aside for awhile and work on something else then when I come back to it, it works out. I would hate to see you give up on it.
Ruth, what are you up today. I hope you are keeping warm and cozy.
Now I need to go and get dressed. Have a wonderful day.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and have everything just about ready for the holiday. I'm going to make some fudge tonight and hope it doesn't taste too good so I can not eat too much I have a favorite recipe I usually make each year - the Fantasy Fudge on the marshmallow creme jar - but I know it's not safe for me to have that in the house, so I'm trying another recipe. I'm hoping that by next year when I'll have maintained my weight loss for awhile I can make my normal fudge again for the holidays Meg - I'm sorry you'll not have your DGD with you this year Hope you enjoy the gift exchange and being with your group today. Ruth, Ginny and Phyl - hope you are all fine and getting some crafting in. Take care everyone!

Hi all. I was in a little panic mode this morning but calmed down and am now DONE..yayyyy.
Now I can start the birthday gifts.
Phyl, I'm so sorry things went haywire with the scarf. Maybe it's a mistake in the pattern.
Ginny, I'm so glad to hear your da;ughter is home. I know you're thrilled.
CJ, I don't have the homemaker gene either and either did my mother despite the fact that she had six kids. Neither of us is or was fanatical about cleaning. I worry too about leaving too much "stuff". My ddil's mother died suddenly 10 years ago and it was a mess. They did manage to get everything taken care of in the week they were here in town where her mother lived but it sure wasn't easy then I think a friends of theirs finished things up after they left. It was only ddil, my ds, DDil's sister and her husband. I took care of the three kids while they were all doing the weeding out and donating. I got all her crafting stuff which I used to make things for ddil and their kids. that way it was kind of from her mother and me both. My dh must be feeling the decluttering urge now too because he's a serious packrat and he's actually gotten rid of quite a few things lately. He's one that hates to get rid of anything because "it might come in handy some day"
WEll I think I'm just going to read this evening. It's so nice to have things done and out of the way.
Have a good evening all

Good evening!!
CJ- how honorable of you to want to clean thngs up so that you do not leave a huge mess for your family. Bet it feels good knowing too that you made decisions on some of these items, instead of having no input on the items at all. Hope the fudge turns ot great!
Meg, I am sure that DGD will also miss being home and being with her family. How was knit wits?
Phyl, that stinks that you have a bump in the pattern. yes, sometimes a mistake in the pattern does not show up until many rows later.
Ruth- congrats on being DONE!!
Long day for me.....
See you tomorrow Ginny

hi, on my way to the chiro I saw a car on fire. had a long post about it. just hope everybody got out ok. we got snow here today. this is the 3rd weekend of snow. we were out in it. started out slow and small. then it went to heavier and very wet
they are telling people to stay home if they don't have to go out.
I think I will take a new skein out of the pink. the one I was using has been worked over so much about half of it maybe. I bought 3 skeins. the pattern says 62 1/2 inches. heck I AM ONLY 60 INCHES.
The pattern is right. when delona and I Took a class the instructor took it home with her and worked it for several rows. part of the problem is with so many different tows it's hard to know where to take it out. not like just knit and purl rows. it's hard when you have the cable stitches and are taking out a row what loops go where. see I am mostly self taught. I won't give up on it.just put it down for awhile .phyl

It was a wild windy day here, also cold and wet. I went to the library to my Knit Wits Gp. We had a very nice afternoon and exchanged gifts and had a good time. I noticed quite a few homeless people going into the library when it opened today. It is somewhere warm where they can get out of the rain and cold for a few hours. I don't know where they go when the library is closed.
I have to go but I will check back later. DS and I are going to go out to get a quick bite to eat.

Hi I am back. we just went to Denny's because there was just DS and I. I had an omelet which filled me up. Then back home and I wrapped a few gifts and then put all the stuff away. Too late to start knitting but I did get a few rows done this afternoon. So I probably will read for awhile.
Phyl, you deserve a medal for trying so hard to get your pattern to work. I would probably give up.
I think it is time to get off the computer. Have a good night Sleep well

Good morning dear crafting friends!!
Phyl- prayers to that family/people impacted by the car fire. I too hope they are all ok. Agreed, with your weather it's a very good idea to just stay in/stay home if you can. For us crafters, that is really not a problem, as long as we have a stash of yarn or fabric! Meg, is right, you are quiet a hero for sticking with a frustrating pattern. I too am largely self taught- and have spend a lot of time on YouTube trying to educate myself. Hope you figure this all out- and I am sure you will!!
Meg, glad you got out for dinner, which is always a nice treat. Did many women make it to Knit Wits? (Do you have any men in the group?). How sad that homeless folks are using the library- although it is a blessing that it is there for them. (I know my local library has its own homeless group also).
Day one of Christmas break for me, and I am enjoying still being in my pajamas and a second cup of tea. Gotta wrap today...and straighten up the house. Also want to really get a baby afghan pattern figured out, Dd and I both like different patterns.....so I will have to see which one works up well and is easy for me to make. Christmas Eve service tonight....and I am looking forward to my usual duet with the church pianist, playing prelude Christmas music.

Good morning it is Christmas Eve and I do believe that Hanukkah starts today So the festivities begin.
Ginny, I am glad you are able to relax and enjoy you days off work. and also having DD home. I hope you find a pattern that you will enjoy working on. I think almost everyone showed up for Knit Wits yesterday even though the weather was really bad yesterday. We did have man there yesterday and he came once before a couple of weeks ago. He is trying to learn how to knit. As I was leaving the library yesterday another man asked me what we were doing in the community room so I told him and he sais he would like to knit. so I invited him to join us. The women are very good at helping beginners. So you are a singer well I wish you a wonderful evening at the Christmas Eve service. I never get there because Janet is home and I haven't been able to go for years and I do hate not being able to go to the Christmas Eve service. It is a wonderful way to start Christmas.
I finished wrapping last evening. DGD is cooking dinner tonight and Janet will arrive home this afternoon and will stay overnight. I hope to have time to read or knit or both. It depends on how much Janet keeps me busy.
Ruth, Phyl, cj Ginny & Tee
I wish you all a joyful Christmas Eve and Hanukkah

Hello all. I've kept busy doing last minute things. I'm making a crustless pumpkin pie for me and one in graham cracker crust for dh...sounds strange but it's good.
Our library used to have a whole bunch of homeless people standing waiting for the doors to open. I don't go there very often anymore but the last few times I've been there I haven't seen very many homeless. They have a security guard there now too so maybe they told the homeless people they couldn't hang out there anymore. I don't see why not. they never bothered anyone.
May you all have a very blessed Christmas Eve and Day.

Hello Crafters - wishing you all a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day tomorrow or whatever holiday you are celebrating Ruth - I'm a packrat too, so I understand how your husband feels. I'll get a package in the mail in a nice strong cardboard box and have trouble throwing the box away thinking I might need it in the future Your pies sound good, I'm sure everyone will enjoy them Ginny - Hope you enjoy your break and have a wonderful time with your duet this evening Meg - That's nice you had a good turnout yesterday and have new members wanting to join. Hope you enjoy the time with your daughter Phyl - Hope your weather doesn't get too bad, enjoy your crafting Hope no one was hurt in the car fire. Last night a man was killed when the car he was in was hit by a 17 yr old who was driving a carjacked car. The poor man killed was just an innocent person who happened to be driving and got hit I had a nice time visting with family today, and managed not to eat too much, so I'm glad about that. I did make the fudge and it was alright, but not as good as the Fantasy Fudge I usually make. At least it kept me from eating a lot of it Take care everyone.

good evening and a happy Christmas Eve to those who celebrate!!
CJ, it's always extra special when a visit with family is a good time! glad to hear that you enjoyed spending time with them and were able to keep your eating under good control! That is awesome. I feel awful for the family of the man killed by a carjacked car. I am sure the man's family is devastated- and I will keep them in prayer...
Meg, hope your visit with Janet goes smoothly! It would be lovely if you got a little "Meg" time in too- and that Janet goes in to bed early enough for you to relax a bit. As much as you love to see her and have her home, there is probably little rest during that visit for you. Glad you got to Knit wits- how cool it is that you have men interested in joining your group!!
Ruth-your tale of two pies does not sound funny to me at all!! I make accommodations all the time for Dh- so that we can both eat the same thing, but I can still stay on program. Hope you both enjoyed the pumpkin pies!
The church pianist and I play instrumental- we usually do about 6 to 8. Christmas carols, I play the flute. She is a wonderful musician...my church is blessed to have her.
Wishing you a most holy holiday- whichever you celebrate! Ginny
