I tried to post a message last night but I was using my old computer and the message not only was hard to type but then it got lost.
Ginny, I'm glad you got the block done and are almost finished with the required blocks. Yes her giving those advance directions sounds interesting. I guess she wants you to be thinking of what classes you will need to finish it into a completed quilt. My series of classes was just for the top then she had a series to teach you how to put it all together then one for the actual quilting I guess. Since she was a poor teacher I never went to those and never even finished the top.
I got side tracked last evening so I didn't do that much on the new longer scarf. It takes 8 or 9 rows of the openwork part and I do have 4 rows doneso half way there. 9 rows, in my opinion, makes it too wide so I'm going with 8. I'm sure that if your sil makes one she will see the errors in the pattern and that she needs to make a longer chain to begin. The pattern writer does give examples of how to make it larger or smaller but it's easy to do.Even number of chains, plus one for the exact middle plus the extra for turning for the first row.
Sue, I sure would not like it at all if someone built a house like that next to me! Luckily we have large lots here so that is not a possibility

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Sounds like everyone is O.K. and busy with things in their lives, I'm glad to hear that. It's been so hot around here I haven't felt like doing much. Hopefully it will be a bit better next week when the temps drop some. Take care everyone and have a good weekend!

CJ- indeed its hot.....looks like you have one more day to endure this heat and Monday will be a much more pleasant day. Ok, I know we both want fall weather- but going into the 80’s is a good thing. Hope you are finding something pleasant to do to stay busy. Its tough to feel good in this weather.
Ruth, glad you are finding it easy enough to modify the pattern. And its so easy to become distracted when crochetting, lose stitch count/row count/gauge. So sorry your post got lost last night. Frustrating indeed.
The reason we got some advance directions for BOM is that we have to save some colored fabric for the corners. We already saved the center star fabric (did that the first month) and now have to figure out what colors will be in the corner stars. I did cut one piece of the deep purple for that and have a pretty good idea of what I want in the other corners. We will not be getting any more colored fabric- which they have been giving us each month.
Hot and disgusting here. One more day of this nonsense and normal temps return. Allergies are bad....so i have had to treat those. Between the heat and high pollen counts I am not feeling 100%, but nothing that tylenol and allegra will not fix. G G

you ladies woulld love it here today. It's only 72 so far. It was quite overcast earlier but has cleared up now.
Ginny, that quilt is going to be beautiful. Oh you asked about my dgs. Well he's still in Taiwan and ddil says everything is the same as to what his plans are. Dgs is not good at communicating which is odd because he used to be excellent at that. I decided on actually only p7 rows of openwork on the scarf because with the row of dc after that it makes it plenty wide enough for a decorative scarf. I think more than 7 would make it too wide.
Well it looks as though the Honda people may actually have solved the problem with my truck. Even though the salesperson at Ford told me a couple weeks in a row that her GM was out of town and she would speak to him about what he was going to do about this I haven't heard from her now for two weeks. She only contacts me when I email her even though she said she would keep me updated. I used to really like this Ford dealer but between this vehicle and the last few visits with my old Ford, I don't trust them anymore esp since the Honda dealer told me that Ford didn't just disconnect the alarm system, they actually just cut the wires and some were even missing. They were going to reconnect it for me but couldn't for that same reason. They also cut the wires for my backup camera so that's gone now too.I didn't care about the alarm system but I would have liked to have the backup camera since it's hard to see to back up since my truck has a topper. Anyway I've had it back for a week now and it does start so keeping fingers crossed

Gee, Ruth that is a predicament. I would be furious about the backup camera being cut out- that is a factory installed item and should not have been cut without permission. Also, my logic might be flawed, but if the problem with the electrical system became evident after the installation of the new sound system, then why was the backup camera impacted?? The BU system was factory installed, and most likely not involved when a sound system was put in. Glad that the truck seems to be reliable now. What is the longest time it has gone without having trouble starting?? Yes indeed, keep your fingers crossed, Mine too. Also hoping that DGS is doing ok. I have kids and grandkidsn(not that old, yet) and I know what that means when they stop communicating. They are either too busy or do not want a reality check from their family. We can pray that he is making wise decisions and not doing something he might regret later on. Its tough to be on the other side of this and just having to trust that its all going to be ok.
A somewhat frustrating afternoon trying to straighten out some banking stuff online. Now I am trying to order more checks and the web page keeps locking up. Going to switch to the computer for that- its not uncommon for some web sites to not like the IPAD.
Stay out of the heat!! And for those, like Ruth who have civilized temps, I am jealous. But the weather will break soon, think tomorrow evening. Ginny

In this case, Ginny, the previous owner had this backup camera installed. This model didn't come with one. He left the receipt for it in the glove compartment. Yes this is the longest it's gone without being started. We waited 8 days and today it started fine. I'm thanking God for this as I was praying about it.
Sorry about your banking issue. I hope it all worked out ok. I need to order more checks but I hate that I have to get so many. I rarely use a check. The only place I use checks is for my car registration renewal because they charge a fee if you use a credit card so I guess I use maybe 3 checks a year
Today I'm working on this week's hat for the "CAL for a CAuse". It's a bottom up slouchy beanie so you make the ribbing band first then do the hat body onto the ribbing after you connect the ends of the ribbing strip. I'm using some of my "ugly" yarn. When I picked it up this morning out of my ugly yarn box it reminded me of turning autumn leaves and the colors are very vibrant. Used alone it would be just too much color so I made the ribbing a rich chocolate brown wide ribbing and the color looks great with it! I looked at the label and found that the color is named, appropriately, "fall"I still can't believe how pretty it looks with that brown. And I have an ugly green that matches one of the colors in the "fall" yarn so I think that a ribbing in that green would look good too.I'll need to do a couple more hats to use this yarn up and this week's pattern is so easy.
Oh and finished the triangle scarf. I'm trying to figure out now what to make for another grandaughter. I've already made her most things. She was the first to request a shawl. She'll be 13 in Nov. I've already made her a purse, earwarmers, a blanket, fingerless gloves, stuffed giraffe for on her bed because she likes giraffes and of course that shawl, all in past years so I have no ideafor this year except maybe some crochet jewelry and scrunchies

Ruth, two crocheted gifts that come to mind (actually 3) are boot cuffs, leg warmers, a cell phone cover, a pillow (have her tastes changed since childhood?) and a shower scrubby.....gee I cannot count.
BBL Ds just came up. BBL G

Ok I am back....Ds is working a modified day shift (just yesterday and today) so he gets home super tired. The heat does not help. Just wanted to see that he is ok (he is). I worry about him law enforcement- its a stressful position and well, you are dealing with the bad side of society.
Ruth, I did get my checks ordered last night, and believe it or not ordered checks with fall leaves on them. So your comment about fall colors on the hat made me smile. I go love fall colors. How nice that this weeks hat is so easy, and that you will be making more from this pattern. Sounds like a good stash buster pattern. A real keeper. My mistake about the back up camera, I had no idea that you could order that to be installed after market. Keeping my fingers crossed that the electrical problem is now fixed! Wouldn’t that be nice! Did you have to pay for the repairs/check?
Still hot here but you can see the change coming. Tomorrow is supposed to be 20 degrees cooler, I am so thankful for that.
Got my fabrics out to lay out block #3. Ok, this block will be my favorite color combination of the fabrics, my 3 favorite fabrics. I am wimping out to do that, why not? Its my quilt. I am hoping that by varying the corners there will be enough color variation and in the corners is where I will use some of my less favorite fabrics. Tuesday I am heading up to the quilt shop to get my backing fabric and see which (if any) class I want to take. They are offering classes on free motion quilting (which I have done) and quilting with rulers (I bought the ruler and have not had time to play with it yet). I do not want to take both classes, wonder which one will be the most beneficial to me. I am hoping to get some clarity on that when I am in the shop.
Sue, CJ, Becky, Phyl and Meg, how are each of you doing? Yikes.....another monday is a few hours away. Off to cut some fabric Ginny

Ginny, thank you for the suggestions. Well the kids don't have cell phones and I don't think they wear boots so those two are crossed off. I've sent them shower scrubbies but you can alway use more of them and why didn't I think of a pillow. I saw a great pattern for a heart pillow just yesterday. Now to find it again but it shouldn't be hard.
I hope that ;you can get more details about the classes so you can take the one that's best for you. And, I agree about the quilt..it's your quilt so you can actually make it any way you like. Have fun at that quilt shop picking out the backing fabric.
I think you will be getting our cool air and we're to have higher temps again after today.ENjoy your cool ones while they're there.
I have your dear son on my prayer list. My son had that same job at one time so I understand your worry and concern.
Speaking of sewing, what a dunce I am!! I sewed the purse lining and found the wrong side was the one that would show, ripped it out and sewed again. Again wrong side. Ripped again...well then it finally hit me that no, I had it right. It was the turning I did after sewing that made it wrong...duh....All that work and I had it right the first time if only I hadn't turned it. Now I just have to sew it into the purse and I'm sure my machine won't handle sewing over crochet so I'm not even going to try that right now. I feel sure the crochet stitches will either get stuck on the feed dog underneath or if I put it the other way on the presser foot.
Last night I finished the hat I had barely started from the night before and made another. Then I weaved in the ends for those so thought..well I may as well go, on so I weaved in ends on 13 hats. This morning I did 12 more hats. Now all are woven in in all hats. Now for the earwarmers. In the meantime though I'm going to make another hat...maybe those Viking hats I mentioned before.. and tomorrow I'll do the hand sewing on purse lining. I had woven all those ends(on the purse) this morning too before starting the lining and zipper
CJ, I hope it cools off where you are also. I hope you're having a good weekend...what's left of it.
Sue, how's everything in Big Sky country?
Phyl, what have you been up to?
Hi to Meg and Betty
