Good morning.

Usual chores plus other stuff that needs to be done. Quick run to Walmart for some essentials. The day seems packed with have-to's.

Weather LOOKS beautiful but the humidity is way up and there is no breeze. Pretty day as long as you are looking out the window with the a/c on. We could use some nice gentle rain but there will be none of that for days, just increasing heat and humidity. The retaining wall bed needs to dry out so I can amend it with peat moss and other good stuff so I suppose I should be grateful for this stretch of dry weather.

Hi all,

Rick has been working till 8:00 every night and then got called into work at 4:00 this morning. Poor guy.

The police were at our neighbors last night at 1:00. Not sure what was going on but we were definitely the nosy neighbors looking out the window!

Been a busy week. Going to try and get some housework done and just take some time to regroup,

Porch building is on the schedule for the weekend.

My neighbor brought me another batch of her garden veggies, including more zucchini. I found my mother's recipe for zucchini casserole. I'm going to make that and her scones ahead of the heatwave, and then freeze them. Does anyone here eat Scrapple? lol   I have some errands later and pizza for dinner

Good Afternoon I'm In. I walked a mile at 6:30 and it was 76 and hot. It takes longer to cool down and the heat wave will last at least two more weeks with possibly 108-110 this weekend. We are going to Cayucos below Hearst Castle and it will be 70-72 at the highest. The dog is already sleeping in the bed I am taking for her. She knows I packed her stuff with last minute items tomorrow. I just had a color and cut and will get a pedicure at 5 p.m. We are still growing zucchini, eggplant, cucumbers and tomatoes and hopefully our son will have time to pick vegetables. The two friends who used to do that have moved away. doordie50 I have heard of scrapple but never ate it. DebDoesWW I haven't eaten scrabble either. hpeterson1951 I feel sorry for Rick. He needs rest.
Stay cool and remember there are fewer responsibilities or holidays in the summer.

doordie50,- I love Scrapple. Just don't ask what's in it! The joke around central PA is it's "every part of the pig but the Oink".

The best way to eat it is cut a slice and fry it nice a crispy. I know some people put Maple Syrup on it, I don't.

It's got a bacon type flavor, but NOT diet friendly.

Rick was hoping to leave work at 1:00 today, since he went in so early.

But since it's already 3:30, I don't think he's going to.

Doordie50, I grew up on scrapple. It's available in my supermarkets although the best is at an Amish market about 45 minutes from me. It's a rare treat now.
