knittingden was looking for her old knitting group from the boards, so we thought we would dedicate a board to it here hoping that it would make it easy for people to reconnect. Feel free to brag away, share patterns, get ideas or ask for help here. As you know by now we have some "wicked smart" people here who are always willing to share knowledge

Deb, thanks for your invite- I am from the other crafters board.
Just finished a hat last night (crochetted) and am wondering what to work on next. I need something portable and have been "hooking" for a while. DGD wants another pink hat, and I would be happy to oblige her of that.
My two choices for now are a quilt (pieces are cut already) and embroidered pillow cases. Not sure what I will work on next of those two projects.
Have a great day Ginny

Hello Everyone I mostly do quilting, but sometimes work on some crochet, knitting, needlework (like cross stitch/embroidery). I'm looking forward to hearing about your projects. Two current projects I'm working on are: Pat Sloan's Soltisce Quilt - www.ilovetomakequilts.com/ - Scroll down to see blocks that participants have made and information about the quilt National Quilter's Circle Quilt Block Challenge - go.nationalquilterscircle.com/A7154/

Ginny, speaking of pink hats, my dgd loved the one I made her..the one with the "big ball" she asked for. They sent me pictures.

choney2 I have been crocheting since my grandma taught me at 10 and never attempted a hat! I just do afghans and scarves so I don't have to figure out where I am on a pattern lol. I joined a crochet group on FB and am literally blown away by some of the designs. cj59 love it! I have 3 quilting WIP's, just keep getting side-tracked. I started out years ago with the JoAnn's block of the month and that got me hooked How sweet gramma15! I have two boys so I haven't gotten a chance to make anything in pink, yet 😉

Deb, hats are very easy to crochet and actually to knit too but I mostly crochet. Yes in the 13 grands I have only four boys so 9 girls. Some are adults now though. I do have two great grands that are both infant boys. Another gg is on the way so we're all hoping it's a girl altho no one would be disappointed with another boy
I have one quilt in progress but it's only a quilt top that I started when I took a class probably about 11 years ago now. I should finish that and take another class and learn to do something with it. I intend to take a class anyway.

I knit and crochet. I am presently knitting a baby blanket which I will donate. I have been making b/blankets for several years but have never kept count of how many. There are many new babies who have nothing warm and every baby deserves a nice new blanket. I knit better than I crochet but I am trying to improve my crocheting and I am looking for a new project. I like to have 2 projects going at the same time.
I have knit lots of hats though not recently. I knit them for the church craft faire. My local library has a Knit Wits group and we meet at the library once a week. There are between 20 to 30 ladies. It is a fun group. Everyone is friendly and we exchange ideas and help were needed and offer help to anyone who cares to join us and wants to learn.

gramma15, I just have to take that first leap. I know they wouldn't be any harder than something like counting a ripple stitch and keep track. 😁 megk31 I keep seeing the Knit Wits advertise at the library I will check them out, sounds like a fun group!

Deb, most of the Libraries in the Sacramento area have Knit Wits groups. which area or part of the country do you live in? The Libraries started the groups and my group has been going for over 6 years.

I checked with my library and they don't have any kind of knitting or other needlework group.
Deb, Ginny's hat is really nice If you make it you can adjust to put different colors on different rows or make a few rows of cross or x stitch in it..there are so many things you can do with even the most basic hat pattern to make it your own

I envy you who quilt - I love quilts, but don't really know how to sew, aside from basic stuff like fixing a hem or seam, or buttons, or things like that.
I crochet and knit. I just finished the body of a small baby blanket (crocheted), and need to work a row of crabs titch all around for edging. After that, I'm not sure what I want to start. Considering just starting another baby blanket, maybe in a knit pattern. I want something that will be mindless stitching, so when I curl up and watch old episodes of Buffy or Star Trek at night with my hubby, I can knit and not have to pay attention. Heh.

megk31 I am in Texas and we do have a Knit Wits group here! I am sole caretaker of my son who has DS so unfortunately I am not able to attend, it does look like such a fun group though 😁 choney2 I'd hate to have you type it all out, if you know he pattern maybe I could find a link online? After all these years it is about time I try and expand my horizons! Much appreciated!! Thank you 😊 lennylou mindless stitching, I so agree, it is so relaxing and keeps me from eating!

Hi Lennylou. welcome to the thread. I like to have a mindless knitting project on the go. I knit baby blankets to donate and one of my favorites is called the dish cloth pattern or diagonal pattern. Lion Brand has the pattern on their web site.
The pattern number is: 81024AD I use Lion Brand Pound of Love yarn and I use 2 strands of yarn, the pound of love and another finer baby yarn which I knit together. It makes a very nice soft baby blanket. I also knit with a no. 13 circular needle to hold all the stitches. To get the size blanket you want measure along the side edge. The pattern says to knit until you have a certain number of stitches but I find it easier to measure. My blankets are usually 332x32 but you can make your b/blanket any size you want.

Deb, I lived in Texas many years ago and my DD was born there. We lived there just about 22 months. My DD is developmentally disabled so I know what it is like to take care of a disabled child. Are you able to get any respite care? Would you be able to take your son with you to a Knit Wits group? My DD is 50 yrs. old now and lives in a care home. I took care of her for many years until I was burnt out.
