I hope you were able to get back to sleep, Ginny, and that you got rested. It's awful when we wake in the night and just cannot get back to sleep Well the reason I was able to make that pillow so fast is that it's a very simple pattern and I was using a super bulky yarn...Hobby Lobby's version of the Bernat blanket yarn. I had also made a couple rows the day before. Last night I made another earwarmer to add to the collection. It's a pretty pattern.Earlier in the day I had started a crochet bracelet. You're supposed to start it by crocheting with a size 7 steel needed (tiny thing) and crochet thread into the opening on a toggle clasp the bar part that goes into the circle....the microscopic size opening. So that didn't work for me so I started it just with the thread. That's small enough . I'll sew the toggle parts on when it's done. That's what you do with the circle part anyway. They looked so nice in the pattern that I was planning on making a lot of them for the grandgirls but there are so many nice bracelet patterns out there so I think I'll make different ones. And my list... well it's long and I don't even have everything on it. I just have the things on it that, to me, are essential to get done. Then there are all the other things I would like to make. I do hope everyone will have a great week this week. As far as I know there is not much we'll be doing this week.We already did our shopping on Friday. We'll probably do some yard work when it's cooler starting Thurs I think

Ok I started and completed the back of the heart pillow so now have both panels. I also made a good size heart to sew on and I want to put dgd's name on that heart. Now to figure our how to do that so that it looks nice. Started another hat last night so I might work on finishing that while thinking about embroidery. This week I want to finish a bunch of things I started but didn't do the finishing touches on. I want to make something to put on other dgd's purse. I'm thinking a flower of some kind.

Phyl, well that does not sound too good if you now need a lumbar travel pillow! Hope that you are not uncomfortable and improve quickly. Was the chiropractor able to help you much? I agree, you have had a few days of lots of food and rich foods, time to get back on program and feel better. You can do this!
Ruth, I cannot imagine how long your crochet gift list must be!! I give you credit for all the neat things you make for your family, and that you manage to make sense out of all those directions! I am sure you will master final assembly of the heart pillow...and that is will look great.
Going to BOM on THursday evening. Cut out the block last night but was too busy today to sew it together. Hope I can do that tomorrow. Long day. Take care all Ginny

Ginny, your days are all so busy even though you're now retired. I hope you get to sew the block tomorrow. How many are you going to need to make this next month?
Phyl, yes that does sound uncomfortable sitting on those bus seats all that time. My back would hurt too. I need to get one of the lumbar pillows myself. I don't travel a lot but I need one for my couch. I have short legs and almost all couches and upholstered chairs are too wide and I have to slouch down for my feet to reach the floor properly and that puts pressure on my tailbone. That food does sound good. Whenever I've thought of a cruise I've always thought of the food first...all those buffets. Of course I've never been on a cruise and am not likely to ever go on one. My oldest living brother and mysister have both been on a lot of cruises. I don't think I'd like to be with all those people. But for those that like them, crusies are a great thing. I'm glad you liked yours
Well I'm nearly done with the pillow. I have her name on the white heart and have it sewn on and have the front and back almost crocheted together to the point where I need to stuff but had to take a break.

THERE ARE EVEN SPECIAL ONES YOU CAN GET FOR PLANE RIDES.
AMAZON HAS SEVERAL KINDS. THERE WERE PROBABLY ABOUT 150 -175 PEOPLE ON THE BOAT.SO IT WASN'T TO BAD.
NOT SURE I WOULDN'T WANT TO BE ON THE BOAT WITH 750 PEOPLES.
THIS WAS 1 DAY RIVER CRUISE. NOTHING LIKE A BIG SHIP CRUISE. PHYL

Good morning!
Phyl, wonderful news that you are feeling better since your visit to the chiropractor. I would think that staying home is a good idea, allowing you a bit more of an opportunity to rest your back. Its not unusual to travel with a back pillow of sorts. Hope that you can find one that works best for you. Perhaps you can find a medical supply store so you can feel the back pillow/ support. You cannot do that with amazon. Being honest, I am not a big fan of amazon, and now with their name in the news, I am even less of a fan. Was the cruise through a scenic area??
Ruth, the pillow must be so cute!! How large is it? Did you crochet DGD’s name on the white heart?? This month is the last of the 4 blocks per month months. Next month is only 2 blocks...then we go into assembly. Still have to make the corner blocks, but those have large pieces of fabric, not lots of little pieces. Less cutting and sewing.
Hot day here. We just got back from DD an DSIL’s apartment, which is, well .....large but a bit disappointing. They are saving for a house, but I would have put a bit more money into a nice apartment, in case they get stuck there for longer than intended. Its sad, you want the best for your kids, hard to see them settling for second best.
Ok, time for me to sew. The intent of going to Dd’s Apartment was to go in the am (its really hot out there) and be home in the afternoon to sew.
Hi to Sue, Becky, CJ- hope I did not miss anyone. Ginny

Good morning all. still morning here although past noon in the east. Just made dh a simple breakfast. Eggs and toast and next have to clean up the kitchen since I was a slob and left last night's dishes, although rinsed, in the dishpan.
Ginny, the heart pillow is pretty large and I wanted it to be a good size. It's 16 inches from the point of the heart to the top of each "bump". I couldn't really surface crochet because the stitches are too large with me using the blanket type yarn so I kind of embroidered it on. I'm not real happy with the result and am still thinking of doing it over but I do think she'll like it the way it is. I still have to stuff it and then finish the seam. I think today I'll finish other dgd's purse...sewing in the lining by hand. I want to get that done and then all her bday presents will be completely finished. Next will be weaving in the ends on the yet other dgd's triangle scarf and her gifts will be done too. after that I'll make two more things for the one that will receive the heart pillow.I have a feeling that when the others see the heart pillow they will want one too. That happened with the Bible covers I made last year.
Yes a lot of these companies had ideologies that I don't agree with including Google but I just bought this Chromebook and both dh and I use Chrome as our browser. Dh won't use it for his search engine. Some woman on one of the crochet groups commented on Hobby Lobby after another spoke about yarn from there and said "if you have ovaries.please don't buy from HL" I know what she was referring to so I made sure to say that I support HL 100%.As for Amazon, well I do use them if a product is cheaper there but they're getting so that everything is either only for prime members or their "pantry" so I haven't been buying much from there lately.I refuse to join prime and spend $12 a month for nothing. I mostly buy things that have free shipping anyway and I wouldn't be using their music, movies and whatever else the suppossed benefits are. I usually can find what I want at a better price somewhere else. I have lots of time on my hands so can search. And I don't belong to AARP. Won't comment on that. I do agree that with a purchase like a lumbar pillow it would be best to try one first.Maybe, Phyl, you could get your reg doctor to give you a prescription then it may be covered under insurance as medical equipment however the time effort put in by doing that may not be worth it since they don't seen to cost all that much

Ruth, that’s gotta warm your heart if there is such a good reaction to the heart pillow-if your grandkids love it as much as they did the Bible covers!!! The pillow is a nice size- are you using a heart shaped pillow form or just stuffing it to the shape? It all sounds adorable, and I suspect other members of your family will want one too. Nice job grandma! Now I have ovaries, so do my daughters and my best friend. We all love Hobby Lobby.. DD#1 and I were there on Monday and did some redecorating for her kitchen. It looks adorable.....Oh, I understand why some might be upset with HL’s corporate views. There are companies I do not do business with because they do not support my personal views. We are all entitled to our beliefs. Some have trouble accepting that.
Finished the quilt block. It might be my favorite. Have a good night all G

Yes I always wondered when I sent things if they really liked them. They always sent thank you notes and said they did but they're very polite. Then when my son was here he said that no they really do like the things, they're not just being polite at all. And when they all asked for Bible covers I knew they liked those. And the pictures they send do look like they are really happy. So I'm glad.
I'm just using polyfil to stuff the pillow and dh's pillow. I'm getting pretty good at stuffing things I guess because they do look good. Not lumpy or more stuffed in one spot than in another. How long that holds up I don't know. Dh's other pillow I made him has kept it's shape pretty well despite the fact that it doesn't have enough stuffing. These two that I just made will have plenty. Last evening while looking thru patterns I found another heart pillow that looks like it would be easier to make and is made all in one piece so no sewing together. That's always a plus to me.If I make another I'll make that pattern. It actually calls for super bulky yarn and the pattern writer said she used blanket yarn
Hot day again today. Last night at 6pm it was 97 degrees but only 10% humidity. Then we had a brief thunder storm and the wind really started blowing and looked worse than the scenes of hurricanes you see on tv but thankfully it didn't last long. While it did though everything loose blew over including my garbage bin so I ran out in the lashing rain to grab it. Rain didn't last long either.
Ginny, I tried to send you an email but it didn't seem to go thru so I hope you didn't get multiples. It didn't look like even one whent thru but you never know.
Hi to CJ, Sue, Phyl, Betty, and dear Meg. I hope you are all having a good day. I'm trying to bring some kind of order to my house. Gotta get a start on getting ready for company. DS will be here in the middle of Sept

Oh my gosh, Ruth where has this summer flown? Seems that it was years ago that you mentioned your son was coming to visit- and now September is in the not too distant future. Wow....and it seems as though your sister just left. Of course that was over a month ago too. Saw a pattern for crochetted earrings using a superfine yarn. THey were adorable- yes and it made me think of you.
Got a lot of walking in today as Dd#2 called (she is at the beach with her husband and his family). We discussed her apartment, which is - well- they could have done better. I hope they are only in there for a year. Its not horrible, but just not as nice as I would have hoped for for her. I am hoping that it is an incentive for them to find a better place to stay quickly. But they are young and in love, and might not see the shortcomings as quickly as others might. It was a long conversation, so I got a long walk in. they come home Saturday.
TOmorrow is BOM. Got my stuff ready for that, so I guess I did get some crafting in.
Have a good night all. Ginny
Ruth, no email came through.
