Hello all. I was glad to see Phyl and Sue.
Went out today. Dropped off papers at Ford Dealer but the person I was supposed to give them to was off today so the person at the reception desk as they call it said she was giving them to the GM. I asked for a copy and she got me one. Then to Dollar Tree to see if they actually had any of that shelf lining that they say to use for those jar lid grippers. They had one kind and they were thin, flimsy and didn't look at all like the stuff shown on the pattern site. And the holes it had were too small. So I next went to Walmart and they had pretty much the same but it seemed a little sturdier but still had pretty small holes. It was a little cheaper than that at the dollar store too so I did get some and will try making them with a small hook and see how they work. You get a lot of shelf liner for $.94.Also stopped and got dh pizza. He's waited a long time for pizza.Back home now and will sit and rest and crochet.

Sounds like you had a very successful day Ruth! Glad you dropped off the paperwork at the dealership, I think it just continues to show good will and an intent to cooperate. Lets hope that that is rewarded and they pay for a lot of the work you had done on the truck. I know the shelf liner you bought, and as a shelf liner, well I hate the stuff. But as a jar gripper, well, lets hope that it works out well for you. What a cool idea and a unique use of the shelf liner material. Can you get decent pizza where you are? Glad you were able to get Dh some, yes its a nice treat. Pizza is one of those foods I could eat frequently (we do not get it that often). Hope you were able to finish crochetting the Viking hats....something else on the list to check off as done!
Phyl- were you able to straighten out your paper piecing issues? (I assume its traditional paper piecing and not english paper piecing). Do you use the add a quarter ruler, which seems so easy to use but is really a life saver for its accuracy. When is your retreat....sounds like you are getting ready for another one.
Sue, good to hear from you!! So how do you deal with your Dd’s Dog allergy, do you buy HEPA filters and stock up on antihistamine? Its hard when our kids develop allergies to our furbabies....I guess she will not be staying with you all that long or her allergy is not all that bad. I do not even remember what I said about your caregiver situation the other day, I do remember you mentioning that you were falling farther and farther behind in what you were trying to accomplish. Do you think the end is in sight with regards to your sisters estate? Here, there is a deadline for settling estates, and I guess you can file for an extension if necessary. I managed to settle my mom’s estate within the deadline- barely. I can imagine when that is completed you will be greatly relieved. For your sake, I hope you can finish all your work on that soon.
We went back to the fair with our kids, and Dd #2 dh and the grandkids. Actually, it was a pretty good day and a blessing that everyone got along well. Got to see the quilts again.....but did not have a lot of time in the exhibit as we were getting ready to leave. I did get a few minutes working on my BOM- had one block that I had to flip around the way I put it together....so I worked on that.
Have a great night all....Hi to Becky and CJ- and Meg too.... Take care Ginny

Good morning all! And I do hope all you you will have a good one.
Ginny, one of the drawbacks of living here is that there is absolutely no good pizza or subs. Back in NY, of course, there were independent pizza and sub places everyone and those and the chicken wings were wonderful. I haven't had a decent chicken wing in 30 years. We did get subs when we went back on our visits. When we first moved here I gained about 60lbs. People told me it was because I was seeking good tasting food. Another thing we can't get here is a good donut. This is definitely not the place for good food.
We used to go to a lot of fairs but we haven't been to one sice 1992. Never been to Frontier Days down in Cheyenne.People come from all over to go to the "grandaddy" but we don't like being where there are so many people.
I didn't know there was a deadline for settling estates. I don't have much of an estate for anyone to settle but I really need to work on getting things in order for my son to take care of when the time comes. When my dil's mother died they got an estate attorney but they said he was of little help to them.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I haven't been doing much, it's still been hot here. The weather is supposed to be cooler and less humid this weekend, that will be a nice change. I went to JoAnn Fabrics today and bought some natural color thread to use in my Canning Jar Quilt. I usually use white thread for everything but with all the black and darker fabrics in this quilt I thought I'd better get something else. Hopefully I can get some bobbins wound and start some sewing soon. Have a great weekend!

hi girls,
Ginny it is regular paper piecing I have taken about 3 classes over the years. some how I either get ahead of myself or miss a step. I think I Have done a little better this time.
last year when I took a class at the little quilt shop I like Pauline.kept wanting to slap my hand, I do tend to get ahead of myself and make things harder at times..
the last few days I have been mostly reading.
speaking of pizza places it ws coming across the screen on gma a couple of days go. pizza hut will be closing 500 in and dine stores and focus on delivery.
a couple of new year's eve ago we ordered a taco pizza. don picked it up and it was not the usual taco pizza.they changed some of the styles of pizza.
have not ordered since or been in their stores. wonder if they are in trouble?? phyl

I haven't been in a Pizza Hut for about 13 years. I know I went once or twice with a friend after I retired but it was at the beginning of my retirement so that's how I know it's been that long.I Never have pizza delivered.OH well I guess it's not true that I haven't been in a PH for that long. I went to one with my ds and his family last time I was there which was in 2011. They got his order wrong then brought a replacement and it was wrong too.It wasn't very good either.
Phyl, I have a tendency to do that also and don't take the time to actually think out what I'm doing.

Just heard from my friend in Alaska (met her on Meg's old knitting thread on the old board) that her 97 year old husband was taken to the hospital and is on a ventilator with aspiration pneumonia. I think it was about three months ago he was hospitalized with rib fractures from a fall and was on a ventilator. I didn't really think he was going to make it then but the man has about 24 lives I think because he did well and was soon back home. He's also been hospitalized with aspiration pneumonia before and that type of pneumonia is very hard to treat and percentage wise has a low survival rate. He came thru that too. I'm praying but God doesn't usually give us that many years here on earth. Of course she's really hoping he will get well. They've been married a LOT of years.
I didn't really get much done as far as crafting yesterday. I started this week's hat the pattern for which was posted yesterday. It's a puff stitch done in the 3rd loop and this time the 3rd loop is in the front so I'm doing something new. I love learning new things but I'm glad I already knew how to do the 3rd loop or I would never have found it in the front. It's a little time consuming but I'll finish this one and actually I'd like to try it with two colors. It's made with that row of puff stitches with a row of sc between so I want to try it using one color for the puff rows and the second color for the sc rows. I think it will be pretty that ay.
I hope you're all having a good day

Long day for me, but a pretty good one.
Ruth, gee the new hat pattern sounds really nice. I agree the idea of learning something new (but not too new!) is great. Do you have a color scheme in mind for making it in two colors? Sounds awfully cute.....Prayers for your friend in Alaska whose husband is not doing well. think you have mentioned them before. Its hard when someone lives so long (a blessing too!) because the expectation is that they will prevail over every illness. Of course that is not going to happen all the time....just hope that God provides the grace and peace to get through this situation. And if he lives....well- she will be happy.
Yes, I heard PH is closing more stores. The one closest to us has been closed for about 5 years...I was never a huge fan of their food anyway. Not sure if the other PH’s nearest to me (45 minute drive) are targeted to close.
Phyl, well paper piecing is so exacting and I can see how you could skip a step and make a mess of it. (I did that the month we had paper piecing and wasted a lot of fabric). Perhaps highlighting each step and just reading one step at a time will help. I know, its so annoying when something so simple can be so hard.
CJ- everything I know is that they say to buy a neutral (like a grey or beige) to quilt with. Smart move on your part. Hope the cooler temps and lower humidity got to your area.
Dd#2 was here almost 12 hours today....her Dh helps with the haying at their farm so she came here to do laundry and continue to clear out her room. (Still has a long way to go). Great to see her....and spend the day with her. Only got a few minutes in this am cutting out the triangles for the block for this month.
See y’all tomorrow Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and enjoying your weekend The weather has been nice with lower temps and humidity here, I'm hoping the rest of August won't be too bad. I haven't gotten to work on my quilt yet, but at least I have everything ready to start now. I'll be checking out the Slow Sunday Stitching blogs today to see what is going on. I'm going out to eat with some family members today, some that I don't see very often, so it will be nice to get together. A few of them are moving out of state soon so this is the last time I might see them in awhile. Take care everyone!

Now I'm grrr'ing because I just lot my post.
Good morning to CJ and Ginny and all who may be reading.
CJ, good to hear you will be able to go out to eat with family members who are moving out of state. I hope you have a good time and also agree with Ginny on hoping they're moving somewhere that would be nice to visit. I'm glad the weather is more to your liking and comfort level.I'd be happy if the temp stayed at about 75 all year.
Ginny, as I've mentioned I don't like going to those home improvement stores. Some do have other things too but I just don't care for them. We have three here but no Lowe's.
Well I tried my best on that puff stitch hat. Worked on it for three days and did get it done and it looks good but the pattern necessitates turning after each row while working in the round and on this and the other pattern she posted that necessitated turning, I keep losing a stitch or two.On one attempt I even somehow added stitches. I hate that I can't find out why. Anyway it's just too time consuming to do it right now when I have so many other things to make and have much easier hat patterns that look as nice or better so am just going to give up on this one for now. I'd love to do it in two colors so maybe sometime when I have nothing else to do.(if that ever happens) I did like that I got to learn how to do the third loop in the front though.

Its absolutely annoying when your post gets lost! So sorry about that Ruth, I was looking forward to hearing about how the hat was turning out in two colors. Perhaps you will be able to figure it out, or at the very least perhaps you can email the designer and see if you can get some clarity on it. I think its a great idea to walk away from it, work on something else that you can easily accomplish,... and come back to it in a week or so. I am sure you tried your best, and that next time - given time to forget about it- its going to make sense.
CJ- how was your day and your visit with family? I am hoping it was a day of good food and great company.... are you reasonably close to these family members? Think we are in for some warmer temps, but not a horrible week. Was there anything that got your creative juices flowing on Slow Stitch Sunday?
Well, busy afternoon helping Dd hang curtains and then picking up the front door at Lowes. DSIL was still with his family, so we took DD out to dinner....(Just salads at Wendys) and picked up the door. She is trying to get some decorating done in the apartment...so its more homey. She has to start work next week, administering and grading regents exams for those who had to take summer school.
Hope to get some fabric cut this evening.....take care all. Oh no!!! Tomorrow is Monday again.
Hi to Becky, Sue and Phyl....if I am not back later on I will see y’all in the morning. Ginny
