Good Morning Chicks and happy weekend. Linda - I understand about being a worried fur baby momma and checking on Micki after the anesthesia. I still check on Zoe each day although she has been given her all clear now with her little bobbed tail. We should be having a really nice weekend of lower humidity and temps in the low 80s which is a treat for August. Good to hear that Micki is moving around a bit more and that you were able to get him to eat a bit. Chele - what will you be up to with Iggy in Columbus all weekend? I have a later than usual hair salon appt. this afternoon and then we've been invited to a small friendship/neighbors gathering across the street. I'm not sure about attending that since I am still struggling with standing, walking and sitting; but who's counting . Saw the physiatrist yesterday and had 9ML of fluid removed from the right knee and he gave me a steroid shot to try to help with the pain for now. Moved just a smidge this morning the wrong way and now the bone spur is jabbing me to beat the band . How have the allergies been treating you? Becky - you're certainly getting your share of those hot temps lately. How's the knee feeling? The gun laws debate is back on intensely but I grew up with guns in the house as my dad was a hunter and part of the special police force. Like Karen, I am also a pry them from my cold dead hands but also see no need for automatic weapons, bump stocks and a definite need for red flag laws and tighter background checks. How are the fur babies doing? Any plans for you and Kenneth this weekend? Kathy - you were a good neighbor getting that package back into the hands of the UPS person. I also haven't seen BandJ light but we do have Breyers pints that are trying to compete with Halo and we have Enlighten and a few others. I had a moment of complete weakness a bought a pint of the Magnum with the crack the chocolate when you open it ; OMG I have a sweet tooth but this was way over the top!! One and done on that purchase!! How are things going with you? I was on the 6:pm train home last night and one of the few I might add. Fridays in the summer are big days off for many of the folks who normally crowd my train. Karen - how goes things with the new computer? Are you continuing to download the apps and programs you need. I'm supposed to see the vascular doc next week for an ultrasound and check up. She hasn't sent the note as of yet to the hip surgeon. I'm sure this will come down to everyone needing to speak to my previous hematologist about what is and isn't safe. I hate being in this level of pain but also don't want to throw a clot on the table or afterwards. They are approving my telecommuting and hopefully I will be able to set that up this coming week; 3 days at home and 2 days at the hospital. Since the issues are mechanical with the hip at this point there is no making it better other than taking the Meloxicam and topical gel the hip surgeon gave me. Chronic acute pain is a bummer; don't know what else to say. Gary is golfing today and should be getting home around the time I'm leaving for my hair appt. I will try to check in with SM to see how things went with her visiting the new apartment. My DS is taking her to the sea shore tomorrow as she feels it will be one of the last times she gets to do that. I think my aunt will push the apartment on her and not do too much backing down but it all remains to be seen. Since they chose not to involve us, it's really on them. How are Dale and Arya? How are those feets doing? I think I was just exhausted from the week and not getting enough sleep and crashed last night. I am off to make some coffee and get my gel on my hip. I wish you all a safe and lovely day dear ladies!! Ciao for now!

Thanks for the start, Liz. I am happy to near your telecommuting 3 days a week has been approved and I hope the surgery is scheduled as soon as the docs confer as to the best way to keep you safe during and after surgery. Your DS is kinder than I think I would be considering how SM has treated her that doesnāt mean I donāt wish SM the best. I am glad to near Zoe is doing well with her new reality. Has it affected her balance any? I hope you feel well enough to do a little socializing. You could scoot home if you are in too much pain. Enjoy the haircut. I canāt wait for mine next week. To go shorter or not? Hmmm? I donāt have anything planned but yard work this weekend. I am not even going to the farmerās market. I have enough to tide me over.
Linda, how is my favorite mini Schnauzer doing? How have you been feeling? I heard about some rabid bobcat in Arizona attacking a camping family. Sheesh. Even the wild life have gone crazy š.
Becky, I saw the weather map and boy, are you in the hot zone. I bet even Scooter doesnāt want to go outside. Excessive heat is one of the only things that affects my appetite.
Kathy, how nice that you had to run down the mail carrier in that heat. My lawn is parched due to lack of rain and I have the sprinklers on now as it is cool (68Ā°) and cloudy. I also had to water the tomatoes and green bean plants this morning. UD starts the fall semester in August 21.The new students move in on August 16. Did you see the guy in Las Vegas that was arrested for making threats against a synagogue and an LGBQ bar? He was videoed in 2016 patrolling his neighborhood with an AR17, body armor and over a hundred bullets, but could not be arrested at that time because of open carry laws.
Karen, how goes the IT work? I still have trouble with any kind of touch pads. Like Becky, I prefer a mouse. I canāt believe how close you got to the hawk. I hope Coop wins you a prize.

Liz, I sure hope that gets done fast and the hip gets fixed soon.
Considering that most of the state is desert or woods in high country with long stretches between civilization, there is a whole lot if wildlife to encounter, especially if you leave food available. Not all whole camp are smart about it. We, by the way, have always had plague from fleas on rodents in the north.
Grumpy from getting up 5:30 now to coax mr. fussyeater constipated dog to get food down so he can have his meds. We cannot do walks yet, but I figured how far we could go to equal going back and firth on our lawn and tried that, nope. I am sooooo not an early morning person. I need to go do warm compress now.
Escaping to annual retired teacher friends ānot going back to schoolā lunch! About six of us go out to eat when school starts here.
Especially glad this year as my old school had air go out day two and teachers had to buy their own fans ...before the first pay check after no checks since end of May.
In most places, You can get equal pay during school month and save for summer or have district hold parts of it without interest for a larger last check in May..but it is not same as you would have if you were working ,so many get part time jobs to make ends meet all year and try for more summer hours. Pay is really bad in AZ. But here you have to keep getting college credits ($$$) to maintain certification no matter how many degrees you already have, so you are limited on work. Emergency hires do not need certification. So you kill yourself while they are hiring cheaper unqualified people. Thousands of jobs are not filled here. I swear summer is when cars break down and appliances die.

Thanks for the start, Liz. I hope you are getting at least a bit of pain relief. OUCH! on tweaking that bone spur. I hope you can find ways not to do that. You're right that having the docs all on the same page is essential for things to work well for your surgery and recovery. Good news on the impending partial telecommute. What 2 days will you work at the hospital, or will it change from week to week? I can see why you wouldn't be sleeping particularly well, so I'm glad your body took control last night. I hope SM enjoys her time at the shore. How far is that from where she lives? Probably best if the aunt doesn't back off on the apartment. It's probably best for SM to be in a safer environment. I have all the software loaded on the computer with the exception of the drivers for digital cameras. One of them may be too old to find a workable driver and I need to research to find the right one for the newer camera. I will do a little work on the desktop publisher program this afternoon. Feets doing pretty well so long as I an careful about footwear. I still occasionally get "pins and needles" around the scars as the nerves continue to regenerate.
Chele, do you have watering restrictions like Kathy does? 68 sounds lovely. I think we were in the mid 70s over night and it's pretty humid. We might get rain this afternoon in advance of a "cold front" that will drop temps from the mid 90s to the low 90s. I guess it's all relative. I haven't heard about the situation in Vegas. I have a gay childhood friend who lives there but they don't go to bars (but they're big at the casinos. What's on your Iggy-less weekend agenda? Did you visit the farmers this morning? I am thinking about an air mouse because another issue with the touch pad is that it's further toward the left of the machine, so apparently set up for right handers of which I am not. The hawk was a juvenile female and she kind of adopted us her first year. It was pretty common to see her once every couple of days perched on our deck railing or the weathervane outside of the screened porch. We still see her and, in fact, Dale saw her and one of this year's fledglings while he was on the kayak this morning. She is very vocal, so sometimes we hear her before we see her.
How is Mr. Fussyeater besides being constipated from the anesthesia? I hate when that happens to them. Phoebe's diet made that difficult because of the veggies, lentils, and sweet potato. Regularity is a wonderful thing. Enjoy the "not going back to school" luncheon. Should be fun! We had the annual pay spread over the year when I was a college faculty member and it was an equal split for 12 months. There are a lot of places with unfilled teaching vacancies and I can't blame people for not wanting to go into teaching with the way kids, and in some cases parents, act. It's definitely a thankless job.
Kathy, if Key West secedes, maybe I'll move there. LOL I had a pair of Crocs that disappeared in the PO after we moved here. They had a record of the package coming in and then nothing. Crocs was good about replacing them quickly, but some postal worker had to have obscunded with them I wonder how often that happens with all the packages they handle. Thanks for the warning on Microsoft. My biggest proble so far is that the computer doesn't seem to want to stay conected to the wi-fi. I am frequently having to disconnect and reconnect, even though I have 4 bars on the hotspot providing the wi-fi. I think that's how I lost the long post yesterday. I saw about Trump having no Fox News, Twitter, or Internet on MSNBC. I can't believe he would be someplace that remote, so I wonder if it was a joke.
Hasn't TX been talking about seceding since it became a state, Becky? You have to wonder if it hadn't become a state if the Mexican border would be Oklahoma instead. Be careful with that heat index. I hope your AC and fans continue to provide some relief. Most state legislative bodies don't work year round, and summer is a good time for them to take off. So a lot more would probably be getting done in this country if this had happened in April or October when most of them are in their respective capitols. It's good that Kenneth is keeping the trees watered. We are having issues around here with a lot of trees dying and it tracks back to the severe drought we had in the summer of 2016. We've lost numerous pines and one of them is hung on the phone wire for our landline. I need to get on the phone Monday to get that fixed.
Dale and I both got our kayaking in early to beat the boats and potential afternoon storms. Arya has cooked eggs for the week and I have a load in the washer. I need to vacuum but don't have much more on the agenda. I'm trying to decide if I want to change sheets today or tomorrow. Otherwise, the computer and I will be learning software. Hope everyone has an enjoyable Saturday.

Linda, I hope Mr Fussy-eater gets back to normal in all ways soon. You sure need an outing. Enjoy lunch.
Karen, I am just doing chores this weekend and watching my new obsession that Iggy does not share. I found the Masked Singer on demand. Out of four I have only guessed one right so far. I harvested some more cherry tomatoes a d with the ones I already picked, I am making a tomato sauce. No farmerās market today. I have enough produce and fruit. No watering restrictions yet. We had a very wet spring and early summer. It is already more humid out than this morning. Left handers have it tough. I guess I didnāt remember you are a lefty. Curious about the laptop disconnecting from wifi. I hope you donāt have to call the help desk. Aaaaarrrrgggghhh! Have fun with the software.

Liz Thanks for the start.I am glad Zoe has been given the all clear.I know we still worry about them and always will.Lower humidity and 80's must feel wonderful.Yes it's been hot and humid. So far we have only gotten up to 101 at 4:00 and that's the low temp of the week so far but it's humid. The knees are hanging in there so to speak.I can do the recumbent bike and walk in stores and at home but that's about all I'm willing to try for the time being.I have been using a CBD cream. It doesn't get rid of the pain but it helps me cope esp at night.I'm so sorry about all your pain.I can't imagine the level of pain you are in.I'm glad you can work from home 3 days a week.Kenneth and fur babies are fine.Scooter is her regular stinker self but she does mind much better. No plans for the weekend other than church tomorrow.I looked in HEB today and they conveniently had the Magnum crack chocolate on the shelf under the B&J.They didn't have the light though.I do like the Enlightened fudge ice cream bars.It takes care of my chocolate cravings when I do eat them.
Chele We are definitely in the hot zone. Not much affects my appetite.LOL.A friend who grows watermelon gave us one the other day and it is so good. That helps on a hot summer day.It is really getting ridiculous with all these people bringing their assault rifles with them.
Linda I had to LOL at the not going back to school lunch with your retired teacher friends.I'm sure with all that goes on these days you are happy to be retired.
Karen I had always heard since TX is legally a republic even though it's also a state it could secede but I don't see that ever happening. Our area isn't quite to drought status yet although the Hill country is considered in drought I think but we are in the extremely dry category.

Around here we have norfolk pines that get huge and a lot have died last three years with drought and heat. It has been tough on ash , stone fruit and nut trees too.
Mr Fussyeater needs to eat some dog food for fiber! The meds are not helping. He is not getting anything else until supper and is hungry now. I got chicken to poach and chop up with some canned food...hope he will not turn up his nose as he has to have eaten for one of his pills.
Noticed red patches by Micki's stitches so fast trip to vet. It is inflammation even with anti-inflamatory pill. He had a laser treatment. Add $80 to the $2000. I have not been doing the warm compresses enough.

Chele, I figured out my internet drop problem. There was a power saver setting that drops the wifi about 10 minutes after I switch to battery. I managed to fix that. Now I just need to get Google as my default search engine and all my settings should be good. I downloaded some tutorials on the new desktop publishing software but most of them are pretty sparse, especially compared to the Libre Office suite where I found a 400 page manual in pdf format for free. I have never heard of the Masked Singer. Was it a network show or streamed? I would think they intentionally want you to guess wrong so you'll keep watching to try to get better. Dale and I are both lefties and he has the same issue with the touchpad's placement and uses a mouse when he's doing anything with data.
It's good that you do have some exercise options, Becky. I'm surprised your knees don't hate the hard floor surfaces in the stores. I've seen that Magnum crack chocolate bars but never tried one. Sometimes I would get the Dove dark ice cream bars with chocolate ice cream inside and that was pretty addictive as well. Nice that it "only" got to 101 by 4 pm, but that's still pretty hot. The watermelon has to be really refreshing in that heat. I think Texas being a republic is similar to Virginia being a commonwealth. In this economy, secession wouldn't make sense for any state. I think it would be a major benefit to Puerto Rico to gain statehood but I don't know that that will ever happen either. We got some rain this afternoon so we shouldn't have to water tomorrow. But we aren't nearly as wet as we were earlier in the summer. We could use rain like you could.
Linda, I saw a photo today of an entire grove of almond trees somewhere in CA that were all dead. It was contained in an article on how climate change is significantly affecting agriculture and was very depressing. I'm glad it was "just" inflammation for your boy and that it wasn't any more costly than it was. How does he tolerate the warm compresses?
Well, I found out today that Dale's insurance ended on his final work day. So he has been without for the entire month so far. He is going to sign up for a month of COBRA until I can get him on my insurance because they will cover him for the entire month of August. I tried to get online to the state insurance website to get Dale added and they must be doing a backup, so I'll have to try tomorrow. COBRA is $35 a month cheaper, but the insurance probably isn't as good as the 80/20 plan I can get through the state.

Liz, one of the things I like about the B&J light is that it doesn't have any artificial sweeteners. I've seen that Magnum crack, but so far have resisted the temptation. It must've been really sweet if you say one and done! That's good news that you can work from home 3 days/week. I know that really helped me the last few years. Sorry you're dealing with the chronic pain and hope they can get the surgery scheduled for you soon. Great news on Zoe being given the all clear. Did you decide to go to the gathering?
Chele, I saw the guy in Las Vegas that was arrested and the picture of him patrolling his neighborhood. Really crazy that they couldn't do anything about it. I think I heard who the final Masked Singer was, but I won't tell. It sounds like a fun show.
Linda, the ānot going back to schoolā lunch sounds like fun. How is the patient doing this evening?
Karen, so much for the dry day we were supposed to get. It's been raining all day and my power was out from 4-6pm due to a lightning strike just to the north of here. I also prefer a mouse to a touchpad. My pixelbook has the touchpad in the center and it took me a few days to get used to typing without touching it. I guess I've adjusted since I don't think about it anymore. I didn't know you and Dale were lefties. Key West would make a nice little island country, lol. Glad you figured out the wifi problem. COBRA should be exactly the same insurance as what Dale had through his employer. That's crazy that they couldn't tell him when it ended before now.
Becky, watermelon is great on a hot summer day. "Only" 101 sounds awfully hot to me and the humidity doesn't help. Hope it cools off some soon.

Happy Sunday, All. My time outdoors yesterday was nice and now it is time to pay the piper. Allergy alert. I went out a few minutes ago because it is once again delightful at 63Ā° and some critter had knocked the basin off the bird bath. Fortunately, it did not break or the birds would have had an old pot filled with water sitting there. The birdies had abandoned us for a few days, but after watering yesterday, the red headed sparrows were back in the mock orange blossom bush and 6 or 7 of them at a time were on the bird bath. I even saw a couple of the yellow finches on the bath. I was sitting at the patio table with the umbrella open watching the activity when a cardinal flew under the umbrella and perched on the potted lemon tree. I sat still and he stayed there quite a while, then flew to the cherry tomato plant. I think I moved at that point and he flew off. I wish I could have gotten a picture. He was no more than 5 feet away. I guess he likes the potted plants.
Karen, you did a lot of work with the PC yesterday. I never would have thought of the power saver setting cutting off the wifi. Nice find on the free PDF manual. I love those. I am one of those crazy people who actually reads instructions manuals. I also critique them as I used to write step by step instructions for using the company software. Two lefties in one household? Thatās unusual. The Masked Singer is a Fox show. Since today is a me day I will probably binge watch the rest. Enjoy the lake if you are going swimming or kayaking.
Liz, I have not see the chocolate crack in my grocerās freezer. Will avoid at all costs. How was the haircut? Did you stay home or go to the neighborhood party? When does your telecommuting begin?
Linda, oh no on the return vet visit. The redness would have also concerned me. Did you get any sleep last night? At least Mr Fussy Eater enjoyed his meatballs. It is a relief when they start eating again.
Becky, there is nothing like a nice cold watermelon in the summer. Back in the college years we would inject it with rum. š¤Ŗ I hope your church is air conditioned.
Kathy, I did not realize that Key West had a secessionist movement. Would Jimmy Buffet be the governor? I should find out the winner of the Masked Singer today. I am hibernating to avoid whatever crap is floating in the air outside, so I will probably finish the series today. Thanks for not telling me who the last mask standing is.

good morning Chele, cool morning sounds great. we at least has humid 82 this morning at 4:30.
i am the read instructions person here.
woke at 3:30. after an hour I fed the dog and went out with him. As I started to get sleepy an hour later it was time for his meds.Went back ti bed and dig us wandering around with a toy in his mouth making noises wanting me to get up and play, so I guess he feels better. So I am still awake in bed. No plans.

Chele, Key West calls itself the Conch Republic and Jimmy Buffett would be perfect for the governor. Actually, I think they named a prime minister. The mayor and city council declared independence on April 23, 1982 to protest a roadblock that the US Border Patrol put up on the only road into town. They declared war by breaking a loaf of Cuban bread over a guy in a naval uniform and then surrendered a minute later and applied for a billion dollars in foreign aid! It got a lot of publicity at the time and the border patrol did remove the roadblock. Now they have a week long event to celebrate their independence day and they even sell their own flags and passports. They never miss an opportunity to make a buck from the tourists. Your watermelon and rum would go over big there.
Hope the allergies improve soon. You've got a nice variety of birds there. That must've been fun to watch the cardinal up close. I'm always entertained by the birds in the pond here. Lately, it's mainly been ducks and a little blue heron. And the masked singer is...
Linda, glad to hear that Micki wanted to play despite the early hour.

Linda, how did Mr. Fussyeater like his meatballs with chicken pieces? Sorry you woke up so early. Did you sleep pretty soundly before that? I hope you managed to fall back to sleep for a little while.
Did you attend the neighborhood get together, Liz? Right now I would think there aren't many comfortable positions for you. Do you have a somewhat comfortable chair at home that you can use for your virtual office days? Enjoy the Magnums. You deserve them more than anyone I know.
Chele, I also tend to read directions for most things. LOL on critiquing instructions. I tend to do that as well. The only Fox show I watch is 9-1-1, but I'm surprised I didn't see a commercial for The Masked Singer during that show. Enjoy today's binge watch and keeping a low profile. No lake time today, but I did spend some outdoor time with the garden. Arya and I took a little walk this morning and I noticed that the local bunny has helped himself to my young chard and golden beet greens. So I replanted seeds and installed a non-toxic but supposedly very effective deterrent called Fend Off, which is supposed to repel both rabbits and deer. It smells like really strong garlic and is supposed to work for several months. Fingers crossed it will work. The new herb blend I am taking for allergies seems to be doing well. I can't take credit for figuring out about the wifi. It's apparently a pretty common problem so a lot of the online forums through HP had Q&A regarding the issue.
As a resident of the Conch Republic, Kathy, I would definitely cast my vote for Gov. Buffett. Maybe Kenny Chesney will run for lt. governor. That would make for some fun and musical meetings. I had forgotten about the 1982 incident. Definitely a tourist trap. Are you enjoying your B&J's? Anything going on for you this coming week? One thing I like about Windows 10 is that I can pin actual files and documents to the start up menu, which will save having to go through My Documents to find something that I use frequently. I hate that it updates on its schedule and not when I want it to.
Becky, I'm not getting much love from my Garmin so far as stairs are concerned. I walked up a pretty steep hill yesterday with Arya and got credit for 3 flights. But I walked up one today that was almost as steep but not as long and got no credit. Does your heat wave continue?
Lost 0.4 this week. A loss is a loss. A little while ago I made a couple loaves of a pumpkin zucchini bread recipe I found online. We'll eat one loaf and the other one will be frozen to get out in a couple of weeks to enter in the fair. It has a cream cheese frosting that I'll put on our loaf today and on the fair one after I get it out of the freezer. As soon as my bananas ripen, I'll make a loaf of sweet potato banana bread that will also be frozen and go to the fair. I'll be cooking green beans and potatoes for Dale in the IP a little later. In the meantime, we're catching up on Giants baseball.
