Welcome crafters! Thought I would stop in and start us off.....the moderator stopped in on last weeks thread and told us that there is a crafting thread. Not sure where it is- Deb (the moderator) said we could stay here as we are or move over there. I will leave it up to you ladies....
The hat is done. I wore it to work this am, as it was plenty cold enough.
I will patch over the moderators comments next...again it's all up to you if we stay or go.
I do admit, I have become very fond of you ladies, and I would probably be unable to maintain friendships on a busy thread.
Okie dokie....I will bring Deb's post over and let you all decide.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know we have a new crafting board! I just wanted to reassure you I am absolutely not touching this thread, you guys are free to have it wherever you want, if you want to put it on the new board that is fine too. itsrad and I thought it would be nice to have a crafting board more visible, since we assume there are tons of crafters around so we thought we would try one out on its own board with more visibility. *ETA forgot to mention, if you guys want to meet up on the new board just let me know and I can move the thread over there for you The above post was from Deb, a moderator....Ruth has already seen it (and commented) Hope everyone has a great day! Good morning Ginny. Thank you for getting us started on another week. With regard to moving to another board, I have mixed feelings. I like this board and the bond that we have with each other. Also the thought of moving again doesn't appeal to me very much. But I will go along with whatever you all decide. I didn't get much knitting or crocheting done this weekend. I found the pattern I like and used successfully in the past and I would like to make a chevron b/blanket. It's been years since I made one using that pattern.
This morning I am off to the dentist for a cleaning. This afternoon I will go to a meeting at church so It is a busy day
Ginny, good for you getting your hat finished I bet you look great in it.
Now I need to think about getting out of here. I will check back later. Have a great day.

Meg, my sentiments echo yours regarding this thread and the friendships we have here. Should we decide to stay here (which I guess is my favorite option) I will probably float over to the other thread periodically. But Meg, you know me- I pretty much disappeared from the other thread (a political one) because it's too much work for me to maintain 2 threads. I would rather be here with you ladies, but will follow you if you leave for the other thread G

Ginny, our thread would stay the same but it would just be moved to a different board. It's still in the same place. Instead of being on the bottom of the list under over 60's etc the crafting board is at the top of that section. It could have a lot of different threads where people talked specifically about just one aspect of crafting. For instance someone might but a scrapbook thread there or a sewing thread, or cross stitch..somethink like that We'd still have out crafters. Or it could be for knitters and crocheters who were young moms or something lie that. They wouldn't be on our thread (unless they wanted to come in). It would be as if you click the "over 50's" or over 60's and you see all the different threads there. As I said, though, I'm happy to have it wherever the majority wants.I'm very fond of all of you also. I've known Meg and Phyl and now have two new friends in you and CJ and would hate to not "see" you anymore so I'm staying on the thread no matter where it ends up.
But yes, I'm more inclined toward us staying right here.We can always get Deb to move us later if we decide to do that. I think that she was thinking that if anyone was trying to find a knitting and crocheting or quilting thread they'd find us more easily if they could see us under a general heady of crafts instead of making connections

Ginny, I'm glad to hear that you were able to wear your new hat today. Congrats on finishing it! It must get really cold with all the door opening you have to do and with you sitting right there.
I have only the weaving in on the infinity scarf so will finish that and start something else for ddil too. I'm thinking a wall decoration of a hanging angel. I saw a pattern which is the size for a pin but will just make it larger which will be about standard pot holder size. Then maybe one more small thing. I don't know about the fingerless gloves. I'm thinking of waiting on those since it won't be cold enough there to use them anymore this winter I don't think. Maybe just a few dishcloths..I'm not sure yet altho I do have a pattern for some tea light candle holder which are beautiful and I'd have to go to the dollar store to get the battery ones. In a house with seven children you don't want real candles. Yes, I think I'll try those. One year I made her a knit dish cloth with three crosses in a purple. She framed it.I thought for sure I'd lose count while knitting and mess that up but I didn't. I was really happy with the results.
I hope you all have a great day. I know Devin is having a great time telling all his friends about Disneyworld.

Ginny, I see you found the crafter site. If we moved Deb would just move this whole thread and we'd be just as we are now but just in a different location. We wouldn't be posting on the thread Deb started talking about the woman looking for her old group. You probably already knew that but you know how I like to talk

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I'm fine with staying here, or moving the thread. Just as long as I can find you all so I can hear how you are and check-in, it's all good for me. I didn't do any crafting today, but I did go to JoAnn Fabrics. I know I'm supposed to not be buying fabrics, but everything I bought was on sale, so that doesn't count, right? I wanted to look and see if I could find a small floral fabric that had pink and white in it. I wasn't that happy with using blue in this quilt I'm going to do from the National Quilter's Circle. I did find a pretty yellow print, with pink, green and white in it. I thought about changing one of my pinks to a green, but I think I'm going to stick with light pink, dark pink, the yellow floral and white. I hope to make the first block tomorrow, so I can see if I like these 4 fabrics together. I did buy some other fabric too, mostly some blenders since I never have enough of those - some blues, a green, a white and another pink. I also picked up a pretty Easter fabric with bunnies and Easter eggs on it. The bunnies are brown/tan and there are other Easter colors in the fabric. This is a repeating fabric, so I think I might just cut a few large edge to edge pieces of it and then add some sashing in pink and purple, so I can enjoy the fabric. Take care everyone!

CJ, there's a law that says that esp if you're a quilter and fabric is on sale that you HAVE to buy some Seriously though, it sounds like you got some beautiful fabric and if there was a Joanne's close to me I'd have to go and look for that Easter fabric. I'd love to do a baby quilt with bunnies in it. The other fabric you got sounds beautiful too so, no you had to get it! Did a lot of cooking today and now I'm ready to sit and finish weaving in the ends on the scarf and start the other things. After I finish ddil's bday presents I'm going to do a few pairs of fingerless gloves to show my dd's friend so she can pick the one she wants then I'll give the rest to the grandaughters. All teens and young adults text so need to have fingers free. DD's friend has been a very close friend of hers for about 20 years and calls me Mom. I don't really know why because I rarely see her but I guess since she's like a sister to my dd she feels I must be "Mom"Then I'll get an early start on later birthday gifts and sneak in some hats and other to donate items between those and in my "waiting" minutes. Hats are so nice and portable and don't take much thought if you make a simple one to work on when your out and waiting for things such as dr appt's. Ginny, I don't like threads that have a lot of people either. I can't keep track of them all and it sure is hard if they expect everyone to respond to each person on that thread. I started a thread once that grew a lot and luckily there was a woman who seemed to want to take it over so I let her and left. I went back just before the old WW boards closed and there still were just way too many people. And they weren't friendly people either. They pretty much considered it a closed private group of maybe 30 people. I didn't like what it had become.. I don't know if our thread would grow if we moved it over there or not but it's something to consider.I pretty much think our group is perfect. I'm glad Meg told me about this thread and maybe there would be one or two others who might want to join us but I would hate to see it get too large

CJ, well as far as I am concerned, because everything was on sale it did not really count as a fabric purchase! It's the same twisted logic that says that just going to a craft store or looking at their web page or flyer counts as crafting.... We could move to the new site next week, starting Monday- or we can stay here. And I agree with CJ's sentiments, as long as we can all find each other, that's all that matters to me. And I have one slight additional concern- I will not be able to handle a huge thread with a lot of people. But if the rest of you decide to move, I will join you wherever. Long day for me, I am tired. No crafting for me as it was my day to babysit- but I am figuring out what to work on next- and that counts, right? See ya tomorrow. Ginny

Ok, I'll say it, I'm voting that we stay here. I appreciate Deb wanting to start a craft area and hate to have her do the work involved and have no interest but I like it here.
That we all stay together is the important thing.

I second the vote, Ruth! I might show up on the other thread- as I see CJ did. CJ has a lot more time to play than I do at the moment, so I hope that she stays with us,.....would sure hate to lose any of you.....but of course if you (figuratively) wanted to be on the other thread that's fine also.
So, I say we stay here......anyone is welcome to join us, this is not as a move to exclude others.
Let's see how Phyl and Meg check in on this.

hi, had a very long post earlier and lost it. my vote is for here. when we were on the ww boards I had to let the thread know about a poster called puppies. back then it was conenctions of some kind. had to scroll down through a lot of threads to find the knitting thread.
sounds to me if we count what already has been posted most of us want to stay here.phyl

I'm not even sure that Deb intended that to be a thread, but just an example of what a thread on it's own section of the board there would be like. No, I don't want to exclude anyone that wants to come in either. I just don't want it to grow to an unmanageable size and I don't think it will. And no I would never leave the group. I really like this group.
PHyl, I never saw the knitting group on connections...only the one Meg had on over 60's and back when it was sensational 60's and 70's.Puppies was on Meg's thread. When this board was started, Puppies tried to start one on over 60's again but it didn't work.I never went anywhere on the ww board but over 60's.
I have a lot of time on my hands too and also posted there, but, as I said, I don't know that Deb intended that to be an actual thread there.

Good Morning! I met Meg on a political thread, which at the time was very active and had some super intelligent and dynamic members. I also migrated over to a thread called Fabriholics, where I met a really wonderful woman who quilts a LOT. We have become dear friends and communicate by email now. And she has taught me a lot about quilting- or at least pointed me in the right direction.
Meg and I had another "friend" (remember Tracey?) who also showed up on both the conservative thread, the Fabriholic thread and perhaps a crafting thread or two.
Anyway- sounds like we are staying here....which Is fine by me. I view us as a happy group- others are, of course, welcome to join us. Groups that are too large become too hectic for me to keep up with.
I guess Deb intended to make this group a little easier to find. Again, I might post there-out of respect for her and with the hope that it will start up another vibrant thread of crafters. Occasionally I do crafts that are other than playing with fabric or yarn.
No crafting at all yesterday. I think this am I will be getting out the interfacing to begin making the last quilt from my mom's blouses. I will need the interfacing to stabilize the knit fabrics. (That I learned from my Fabriholics buddy).
Grandkids will be over today too. A busy day. Ginny
