Hello Crafters - Hope you are all well today I think we should stay here too. The other thread is good just for posting about a project or a pattern to share, but I wouldn't want to talk about my life on it. I feel comfortable doing that with the few of us on this thread. I worked on two quilt blocks today. The finished the first one for the National Quilter's Circle quilt, there are 9 blocks in total. The quilt has a lot of "negative" space and I'm using white for my color instead of gray in their example. The weekly Solstice quilt block was released early today, so I went ahead and did that one. I'm trying to mix up my fabrics so that I use each one in at least 5 blocks. We're up to Block #11 of 25 now. Here's a link, but since it's a day early there is only block so far posted - it's a pretty red, white and blue: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/Take care everyone!

That quilt block is very pretty and you've been very busy.
As far as privacy goes, this one too is a public thread and it looks as though 86 people have read it so what we say is seen but we're a little more "hidden" than most threads. One person I know who likes to read a lot of threads is on one close to here so I'm sure she's one that reads even though she doesn't do any crafting. Some people just like to read threads and see what others are doing. Many elderly people have a lot of time on their hands and don't have hobbies. It's kinda like reading Ann Landers back in the day...just something to do.

Hello everyone. I did get up early and took Devin to school. Later DS and I went grocery shopping. I had a little rest and read for awhile and now here I am. I did do some knitting last evening I still have a good bit to kinit before I is finished. I want to start another project and I would like something more colorful that the pink and white b/blanket I am working on. Every once in awhile I get the urge to learn and try something new. I was tempted to go and buy some yarn today but didn't go. I need to dig in my boxes of yarn and use what I have. It is a chore to get the boxes out of my closet. I think it is easier to go to the LYS (local yarn store) and buy what I need.
I will agree to whatever you all decide. I am very comfortable here and enjoy you all. I had a thread on the over 60s for a few years it was Knitting, Crochet & all Needlework. Ruth and Phyl used to post there. I do remember Puppies I think she posts on Face Book. I think this thread is better than the one I had on over 60s. I don't see why they cannot start another board if they want to. I am spending too much time on the computer and I need to break the habit with fewer threads to keep up with.
Ginny, I don't remember Tracey and I have not posted on Fabricholics. Was she also on the conservative thread?
Ruth, I don't think Devin had such a great day when he went back to school yesterday. He wore the shirt he bought at Disney World and from what he said the kids at school made rude remarks about it. I guess the kids were jealous. You know how kids are. Nice to you one day and not so nice the next day.
cj, I hope you are busy quilting.
Phyl, I just hate it when I lose a long post. That happens quite often on these boards. I don't know whether it is me or something else. I usually don't feel like rewriting the post. So here goes with this one.

Meg, that's why I'm glad that over half of my grands are homeschooled. Kids can be so mean. They do meet kids at church and some of them are mean too. I imagine that's exactly why they were mean to Devin. They were jealous.
When I posted on facebook I used to see puppies and she used to email me now and then but we've lost touch.
Meg, your knitting, crocheting, etc thread was great until everyone started leaving. I met some great people there.I kept in touch with a lot for quite some time and I'm still in touch with some of them.

I had a look at the new crafters board and see that you have all, except Phyl, moved over there. So where are we going to post? Of course we could post both places and see how it goes.
Ruth, Puppies used to phone me sometimes but I wasn't great about phoning her because I didn't have a lot of time to be on the phone. I do have a FB account but I don't check in there very often. Mostly I check on the younger folk in my family in N.I. and England.
We had a new baby born in our family a year ago. His first birthday is coming up the only problem is he was born on the 29th Feb and will just have a b/day every 4 years.
I have been knitting this evening and now it is time to go to bed with my book.

Gotta get ready to go back to work ...so I will not be lengthy.
I do think we stopped in at the other thread because it was gracious of Debbie to offer to move us to a more public domain- I went there as a vote of confidence in Debbie- and support. But I will be posting here.
Meg, that stinks that Devin was teased for his really cool Disney world shirt. (Probably jealousy cause he got to go to Florida). Tracy 's screen name was Sanemom- she had some very strong political views and was active in the DAR.
CJ- I checked out the qult squares, and think I liked #7 and #14. But many are pretty.....
Ruth, yes this I a very public thread....and I am happy to stay here with all of you!
Phyl sorry I cannot help you with the seed stitch.
Well, I got as far as getting out the interfacing I need and the pillowcases I want to work on. That was if for crafting for me.
Have a great day Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I'm going to keep posting here too. I may go to the other thread to share a quilt pattern or talk about a project, but I like posting here to share how we are all doing as well as what we are working on I did my grocery shopping today and also went by a store called the Christmas Tree Shops (not sure if any of you have them in your area). They have lots of seasonal decorations and things for the house. I bought a few flannel backed tableclothes because I've been using 2 of these to lay out my quilt tops between them so I'm not storing them folded up. I lay the tableclothes out on an extra bed I have and then put the quilts between the two backs of them. I also found some cute Easter bunny plates and some floral Springtime decorated paper soup bowls. So it was a good trip. No time for crafting today, but maybe later this week. Take care everyone!

Phyl, You are correct about the seed stitch and you knit one purl one , next row purl one , knit one. I think you may need an uneven number of stitches, The other way you mentioned is changing every few rows is I think called the Trinity stitch and you do 3 rows knit one purl one then after 3 rows you change to3 rows purl one knit one. It is call ed the Trinity stitch because it is knit changing every 3rd row. you may have to have an uneven number of stitches. Perhaps you should try a sample and see how it works out. I used the Trinity stitch when I made a prayer shawl. I do enjoy our group here this is one of the better message threads that I have been on. We all seem to get along so well. On some threads I feel that people are competing with each other. I left a thread recently because most of the people on the thread ignored me. We do not do that here and we welcome any new posters. In other words we support each other.
I just looked up seed stitch in my little book that lists 365 stitches: Odd number of stitches; Multiple of 2 +1 Row one; K1 *P1, K1; rep from * to end rep this row.
cj, Yes it is a comfortable place to share with each other and we get along well with each other and I am quite happy to remain here. I enjoy hearing about your quilting even though I don't quilt.
Ginny, I don't mind posting on the other thread but this will remain my favorite thread to post on. We will have to see how the other thread turns out and be supportive.
Ruth, I do share a lot on this thread but I do not give any information that is toopersonal. We can always messge or e-mail when we want to have a private conversation. It is good to remember watch what we say.
Have a good day everyone.
I did do some knitting last evening and watched TV. Slowly but surely I will finish this b/blanket.

PHyl, even though it's on circular needles it's still a flat blanket and you turn at the end of the row, right. If so, no that doesn't sound like a seed stitch to me either. The seed stitch is what you said. Start one row with k1p1 then alternate rows with p1k1 but, as in crochet pattersn, some people use the same terms to mean different things. Now if it was a circular item you were making such as a hat then all rows would be the same. Meg knows a lot more about knitting than I do though so she will probably know.

Oh Phyl, that's a beautiful baby blanket. If my knitting wasn't so slow I'd have to make that one!!! It doesn't really say though to repeat the same row just to repeat the seed stitch for 8 rows...confusing.But it does say the seed stitch is p1k1 and end with a p1 so you'd definitely be doing a purl into a purl when you did the second row if you repeated the same row over and over. I sure love that blanket.. I got a pattern for doll size but they have instructions for making it larger...cast on 83, or cast on 143...is that the pattern you're using? I copied what you said and that's what came up. I'm going to book mark that one for when I get time.

CTS (Christmas Tree shops is AMAZING!). I go there 3 or 4 times a year..... They have a lot of seasonal decor, and are pretty good for reasonable kitchen supplies. A friend of mine and I go there quite a bit.....as a matter of fact we are planning on going there. And one of the things I usually get there is flannel backed tablecloths- also nice scented candles.
This will be my favorite thread- for batter or worse, expect me to be here a lot!

Big bummer.....I was going to start sorting the DMC floss for the pillow cases- and I left my supplies on my bus. (Which was a totally dumb move). So I will read tonight instead. Ginny

ok I see the seed sitch under the picture now. I was looking at the seed stitch pattern on the side. that's what was confusing me. this was sent to me though email by a friend. so the picture may not be as clear as on site. thank you . I am hoping the 143 stitches are the portable crib size. phyl
