I've been kinda busy all day but I see that Meg looked up the seed stitch in her book.
Meg, I got the pound of love yarn today that I ordered and the cremesicle is really pretty. Good thing because I ordered four of them. Also ordered one white (because I already have a bunch of white yarn) and two what they call denim.I definitely need to order NO more yarn. I hope that when the grands request something be made they want a color that I have.
Ginny, how awful that you forgot your supplies on the bus.
We used to have a Christmas tree store but not part of a chain. I don't know what happened to it but we don't have it now. the things you got there sound really nice.
Speaking of bunnies, this year Easter is the day after my dd's bday so we can have a dual purpose dinner this year.
Well I haven't crocheted all day.I did look up the ribbon and ribbon flower I need to finish the angel hanging. So now I'm going to do the head which is just a plastic ring that you crochet around. I don't have one big enough I don't think so I'm going to try the one I do have and if it doesn't look right I'll go to the mailbox tomorrow and see if the ones I ordered came. I have a feeling that my order didn't go thru though because I didn't get any email saying anything about an order and I don't even remember the company I ordered from. I'll have to do a search and see if I can find out.
I'm am definitely staying on this thread wherever you ladies are. I love this thread. I might post over there now and then but this is my home unless I'm asked to leave which I don't expect will happen. You're right that we do share a lot and are very supportive. And, yes, Meg, there is definitely email and private messaging for those things we don't want "out there".

Good morning!
Ruth, Glad you ordered that yarn....I was afraid you would run out! Ha haha- but I do think it's a great idea to be well stocked- knowing how many people you are crafting for!
Gotta go to work- get my craft bag back and of course, drive the kiddies. Have a great day ! Ginny

Ginny, I"m glad you found your supplies safe and sound. Just one more day then the weekend. Being retired it's hard to keep track of the day and at first I thought it was Friday but the garbage bin being out for pickup reminded me that it's Thursday. So today after changing the bed and starting laundry I'm going to spend a bit of time crocheting and also making a shopping list for next week. Have to go to Walmart and pick up a couple things for ddil and dgd...just little things to add to gifts. And to dollar store for the battery candles.I'll look at Walmart first since we'll probably go there first. I'll still have to go to dollar store to get wrapping paper. I still use that because I like to give a lot of little things to each and the little bags just cost too much. And I do think that for kids esp, it's more fun to unwrap.
Have a great day all whether or not you craft..Even when we don't do actual crafting it seems like most of us spend part of every day looking at craft supplies, patterns, or shopping for those supplies...as Ginny said....it's all connected.

OH I found something I have to share with all of you. It's amazing the things you find while doing your Bible reading and Bible study (this month we''re doing a study of Psalm 91). I was reading in the Women's study Bible and in it there are essays by various authors, teacher's, etc. It's based on Psalm 90:17 which says May the favor of the Lord rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes establish the work of our hands"
And in an article by a woman named Catherine Doherty she says
Handicrafts serve as a means of communication among people who are afraid, shy or sick, or even peoplewho speak different languages. There is something reaasurring, homey, pleasant and relaxing to see someone embroidering, or knitting in an airport or on a traine. One feels a trust and confidence about such a person. If one has some similar work at hand, one become friends almost without words. Or one might ask what the other is doing and a bond of friendship, gentle and warm, is established with this person who only a short time ago was a stranger. The handicraft is a bridge.
All creative effort is from God, and people who do handicrafts create. To create is to be at peace, for in creating one is joined with the creator. Creativeness is one of the needs of our humanity and one of the gifts of God to us. Handicrafts also are one more way of restoring us to wholeness in the natural and pyschological order so as to better restore us to Christ. The loneliness of modern People has almost reached a point of no return; But in a common effort of creativity, men and women may find someone else who is interested in similar crafts, and become friends through their craftmanship. Friendship is still the most precious possession that a human being can share. So handicrafts open the door to both friendship and creativity. These aspects go together, for friendship both creates and demands creativity to grow "
I don't know about you but I've often seen people knitting or crocheting somewhere and had to ask them what they're making. As the aricle says it usually then leads to a nice converstion. Just recently I was at the airport where my son and grandson where waiting for thier plane to leave to go home but it was delayed. They had already gone thru the line so had to stay in the other waiting area and I didn't want to leave in case the flight was cancelled. Then I saw a woman knitting and bingo... I had a friend to talk to and watch her knit ( I hadn't been smart enough to take my own project with me). That's happened several times with me and I'd bet with most of you too. And then there's this thread. We"ve all become friends now because of our common interest in creating. Meg goes to her knitwits group and I used to go to Caps for Kids and we both met nice people at those functions. Crafting truly is something that brings people together.row"

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today. It's a sunny day here in Maryland, but the wind is crazy!
Ruth - what wonderful thoughts/words you've shared with us about people who do handwork, and how it connects people. I'm always surprised that every time I get to pick up my crocheting, knitting or embroidery I feel such peace doing handwork. I have to admit that piecing a quilt I don't get the same feeling, even though I do enjoy the creative process of working with the fabric.
Ginny - Glad you got your craft bag back and your hair done, sounds like a successful day.
Meg and Phyl - Hope your projects are going well.
I haven't done any crafting for a few days, since I had several things to do out of the house. Hopefully I'll get something done tomorrow or on the weekend.
Take care everyone!

CJ, I don't usually feel a sense of peace. I'm usually stressing about how it will come out and how slowly it's coming along but now I'm going to look at it differently and realize that it's a gift from God for which I need to be grateful and feel the peace that He wants us to have while enjoying that gift.
Meg, I don't know if I thanked you but thank you for telling us about the cremesicle color yarn. As I mentioned I love the color. Dh found the box on the deck yesterday and laughed... He asked if I had enough yarn yet. I told him I probably wouldn't be ordering anymore but, realistically, I probably will because I'll need some other kind or some other color. Or because I can't find the one I want to use in my stash. You all know how that it.

CJ, you got plenty crafting down when you wenf To that quilt show and bought all those goodies!
Ruth, yes your post truly captured the spirit of a crafter! Thanks for sharing...
Got a story to add. Several years ago (8?) I went to joanns wifh Dh and DD on Black Friday. We got there early to catch the sales. Well DD and I stood online for the cutting table and dh noticed what a friendly group was there ! We helped each other with color schemes, passed bolts of fabric back and forth. Plus we chatted about our projects. A very friendly bunch!
Cold and windy here too. Right now I am separating my DMC floss to get ready to embroider. Have a good night! Ginny

well looks like I have been missing. This morning I went for iron infusion and they tried 4 times to find a vein they could use. My blood was not flowing this morning so two nurses tried and gave up and told me to come back next week. I was really tired today, my own fault I stayed up very late last night reading.
Ginny, sorry you lost your stuff on the bus. Is there anyway you can get it back? Oh I see you did get them back. I am sure having your hair done felt good. It is so easy to strike up a conversation with another crafter. When I was in Barnes & Noble recently 3 women were sitting at a table over where they have Star Bucks, They were knitting and doing very advanced work, One of them told me she belongs to the knitting guild.
Phyl. How is the seed stitch coming along. I am sure you will not have a problem with it.
Ruth, Wow you do buy a lot of yarn at a time. I am glad you like the cremesicle yarn. I have used that color before and I am just starting to use mine today. I have just started crocheting a chevron b/blanket and I will use the cremesicle and white and another color. I found the chevron pattern that I used years ago and I made several afghans using the pattern. I still have to finish the b/blanket I am knitting. I have used the denim quite awhile ago. I haven't seen it in the store recently..
Ginny and Ruth thank you both for sharing your spiritual uplifting messages. Knitting and crocheting I find very restful and peaceful. Sometimes I get the urge to just get my yarn out and go to work.
Hi cj, hope all is going well with your quilting.
It's getting late and I should go to bed earlier tonight.

Meg, I'm not good at picking colors that go together well so I want to use three together too, cremesicle, white and what other color would you suggest?
I just was looking thru my email and I found several emails from pinterest that they sent awhile back with boards "that you might be interested in"..so they said. Anyway I went to them and downloaded some patterns hence the new avatar.

morning ladies been cleaning in this puter/ bedroom. most of it is cleaned. just some odd and ends I wan to get done. I started with some shelves behind the or yesterday. was going to organzie some of my yarns. that was my first mistake. should have waited with the yarns. there was a skein that had been started then rolled up a little. I decided to roll it into a ball. second mistake should have waited. before I even got to the middle that yarn was tangled. fact the whole skein was so tangled it took me all day to undo the tangles. only had to cut once.
so today I will get to those shelves and get to the rest of the house. have a great friday. phyl

Happy Friday!
Phyl- I love yarn but HATE when it has become a tangled mess. Think we can all sympathize with you on what happened to you yesterday, and how much darned time it takes to untangle it! Your craft area will be so nice to work in once you complete your organizing. Keep it up!
Ruth I love the new avatar....and also the story about bonding with others over crafting. That is why I love reading about Amish quilting bees- and the like. Women bonding over the necessity of providing for their families and the desire to create something beautiful.
Meg- that stinks that the nurses could not find a good vein for your infusion. Had you taken in any water that day? My mom used to have trouble "finding a vein" and the doctor suggested drinking water before blood work or similar. I hope you got more rest last night and are feeling well rested today.
CJ- has the crafting bug bit you today? It seems like you have days that you get a lot done- and then take a rest from crafting for a few days. Still in the course of a few days you get much more done than I do!
Once I conquered it, I found that stippling is one of the most relaxing forms of sewing. During stippling it's just fluid motion and the hum of the machine, which I find soothing. I find repetitive crochetting relaxing also.
I did start getting my DMC floss organized and ready for the pillow cases. (So that was my crafting for yesterday).
Guess I better get busy with housework. BBL and have a great day! Ginny

Ruth, I am not great about combining colors but I find Pinterest helpful. When I see a pattern that I like with a good color scheme I save it so that later it will help me select colors for a project. I am going to make a b/blanket using the chevron pattern. Colors cremecicle. white a baby aqua. I am going to try and go to Jo Anns this morning and get the white and aqua. My DGD in Florida pinned me she liked an afghan with lots of different colors chevron stripe. Years ago when she was a little girl I made her 2 afghans using the chevron stitch. I sent her an e-mail to see if she would like a new afghan. Good luck in selecting your colors.
Phyl, in my old age I don't mind sorting out tangles though I would rather not have to do it when I want to work in a project.
I need to get dressed and get out of here. Later I will go to my Knit Wits group. I will check back later. Have a good day.

Meg, that was my specialty and if I say so myself, I was really good at it...starting IV's. If a person is dehydrated it's almost impossible to find a vein. Also if they wrap your arm in a warm blanket and then leave the blanket on the sides of your arm exposing only the area where they're going to start the IV that usually works like a charm. I wish I was there to do it.Usually, too, people seem to think they need a large bore needle to give iron when just the reverse is true. Today I'm going to be working on the tealight candle holders which are made with #10 crochet thread...very thin stuff...and a #10 steel needle which is extremely small. Actually I had all the sizes and some doubles of steel needles but not even one #10 so I'm using a 9 so hopefully the holders won't be too big. I ordered some of the flameless tea candles online. This will be a real vision test for me
