Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I saw an interesting project on the internet yesterday. The person had taken a plain baseball cap and had glued (or attached somehow) a bunch of pretty colorful crocheted flowers to the front of it right over the brim. It as really cute. I had a nice time having the meal with family yesterday. The restaurant was really crowded, I was surprised it was that way on a Sunday evening. I'm sad to see some of the family move away since I know they won't be coming back here very often. I feel like my tolerance for travelling is gone. It's too bad really since I'm retired with no obligations, but I have no desire to ever fly on an airplane again and overnight trips on my own do not appeal to me anymore. I just don't feel that safe being out on the road by myself for a long time. It's warm here again and we might have some strong storms tomorrow, but hopefully not. Hope the weather at your home is nice. Take care everyone!

Phyl, yes we do have to have fun. Crafting is sometimes a big job but it's important to enjoy what we're doing. Don't know what to tell you about sew day. I guess you have to take something that needs sewed. If not you could just take knitting needles and some yarn and just talk and act like you're planning to knit Went out and did our shopping this morning. We were going to go today or tomorrow but dh said today and it turns out taht I am behind on days and thought his birthday was coming up on Saturday but it's tomorrow and that's why he wanted to get the shopping out of the way today.Plus I needed to get carrots to make him his birthday carrot cake Started and almost finished a new hat last evening. It's supposed to be a woman's size but it came out to be a size for a 12-24 month old, It's stretchy so it will fit probably up to at least a 3 year old and I do want to make matching hats for dgd, her 2 year old and new baby due in Sept so this hat will work for that. It has puff stitches too but only 2 rows that are separated by six rows of other stitches. Definitely will be a non traditional color for an infant as it's emerald green. It's a Lion Brand Heartland yarn in color called Cuyahoga Valley...actually a emerald green with shades of lighter and darker green that you can't really see but gives it a nice look.I'm hoping to get this one and the other two done tonight but you know how plans go. I hope all of you are having a good day. Nice day here and is cooler.I think Ginny and CJ would love today's weather here Hope to see some of you later

OH Cj, there you are! Yes that baseball cap does sound interesting. I'll have to see if I can find it anywhere. I'm glad you had a nice time with your family. As far as traveling goes, yes there are a lot of people that travel a LOT after they retire. I really have no desire to travel either. I don't like to drive and I don't like flying. If I have to go somewhere then flying is best but I just would rather stay home.I have a lot of things I enjoy doing right here in my own house.

Good evening!
Phyl, gee Ruth had a great idea- if you are unable to figure out a project to do tomorrow at sewing then knit or crochet! Think we all have those days when we wonder which project to work on . Hope you figure something out. Guess that book series was really good- worth the re read! Got any idea what you will read next?
CJ- some people love to travel, some do not. I am a bit of a homebody, always have been. My Dh is more the travelling kind....I hope that you had a great time visiting with your family! If you do not mind me asking what region of the country are they moving to? Think I do get it, the thought of going someplace that is not familiar- well lots can go wrong when you travel and sleeping in a strange bed in a hotel stinks. Day trips are nice....and then you are back home at night. I think that the baseball cap decorated with crochetted flowers sounds adorable, and something right up Ruth’s alley! What a great idea.
Ruth, glad you got the carrots in for Dh’s carrot cake! Gee his bday is Saturday? My Dh’s bday is Tuesday. Anyway, the bright green for a baby hat sure seems unique. Hope you got the hats done that you wanted to today. Good news that its cooler by you- at least you are not too hot, but I do not think you mind that.
Finished the first block and cut out for the second one. I also cut some curtains that I need to hem to shorten. Felt good to spend some time with my machine.
Have a good night all Ginny

Ginny, no you read wrong... I thought the 13th was on Saturday but his bday is tomorrow the 13th. So happy birthday to your dh too.
I got the baby hat nearly done. I have three more rows and of course they're short rows in a newborn size heat. Well the green isn't bright...it's a nice dark green. Still unusual for an infant but people are going to more unconventional colors now for babies.
Phyl, I'm not familiar with that author. I'll have to check into his books.

So I am back with a little bit more brain capacity than the woman who responded earlier without having had tea.
Ruth, I do love deep green, and while its not a traditional color, it will be easy to see, and notice if the baby is wearing his hat. 2 of my 3 kids took hats off their heads....I am sure those last 3 rows will go quickly!!
Yes, Phyl, Sept 9 is just around the corner....how long is the retreat you are going to?? And you do still have time to plan what you will do on retreat. A nice Christmas project would be a good idea and inspiring knowing that the Christmas season is not that far off.
Gotta go iron those curtains I shortened last night and then hem them. Also need to work on my second block. Ginny

I have to go to the grocery store today. hb thinks he's going to starve! There's no milk in the house! I had hoped to go to two banks ( one for my sister's things) yesterday , as well as make some copies of papers for the attorney, but GI problems interfered. TMI. I'll do those things this morning. I did get to my two appointments yesterday!
Travel is not my thing either. Last summer's trip to LV took weeks of recovery. I would still like to do some trips that don't involve a lot of travel, like a nearby hot springs. Staying there for some pampering sounds very good! Arranging for hb and the dogs make it too much work, and anything that's more work doesn't sound good!
My sunglasses are ready, so while I'm out, I'll pick them up. I'm going to have to get some computer glasses. I started a letter and got as far as typing the address before the room started spinning. I'm thinking bifocals with reading and puter corrections. I can't handle trifocals.
The lawn guy just finished, so it's time for the woofers to go out and for me to start moving!

Sue, I think a few of us on here have those same gi problems. It does interfere with our activities for sure...another reason I don't fly anywhere anymore...tmi from me now.Good to see you. We don't use much milk. Dh does use some in his coffee which he always drinks iced even in winter. but we keep dry milk on hand for use when we don't have the real stuff and the kind we use tastes as good as the real.I hope you can get glasses that help with the things they are needed for. I've had trifocals for years...the ones with lines. I tried the others like dh has but never could get used to those.

well kind of disappointing. Ford dealer got back to me and is willing only to refund what I spent there so about $100.So I'm still out about $700.Dh said that he expected if they gave us back any at all it would be only what we spent there. On the ohter hand I'm happy because dh's cousin as usual called him to tell him Happy birthday. She's the only one in his family that bothers to even keep in touch at all. They had a nice chat. She's called him every year on his birthday for years

Good afternoon!!
Sue-were you able to get your sunglasses??I also wear bifocals- with lines- and they serve me pretty well. Nice to have new glasses that are not scratched and the frames are nice and tight. Ha ha ha- somehow I doubt you are starving at your house and the lack of milk, well that can be taken care of pretty quickly in most areas. But I get it,my dh can be that way, if we do not have everything he wants then we are doing to die. Like Ruth, I keep powdered milk and canned in the house, and cook with them. But as my Dh grew up on a dairy farm, its important to keep fresh milk in the house. It must kill him that I now use almond/coconut milk for most of my milk needs. As Ruth mentioned, some of us here have digestive issues and the less real milk I have the better.
Gee, Ruth that is disappointing, I kind of figured that would be how they made the cut for how much they would pay- base it upon how much yo spent with them. It still is frustrating and almost seems unfair that someone else had to undo their problem. But from a business standpoint, that is how they cut losses. I doubt you will be doing much business with them anymore!! How very sweet of Dh’s cousin to call him on his birthday. I have noticed over the years that well, folks are less and less observant of special days like that. Hope that the rest of the day is very pleasant and that Dh loves that carrot cake.
Finished the second block today....and will work on the curtains later. I got to iron them and press up the hem, now just want to pin it in place and let my machine do the invisible hem stitch. Hope I can stop in later on to see who else checks in . This week is flying and I have to get ready to teach again next Tuesday.Somehow still have to find a few hours to go over the material I am speaking about however.
