good morning, well the tour of parade of homes is over.least for us. we used up our tickets and voted for which house we each liked the best .the tour still goes on next weekend.
there were some pretty huge houses. lots of stairs and wood floors some were 3 levels. some had the laundry rooms on the upper levels..not me. I want my units on the main level or basement.funny things can happen with washer and dryers.
I could take rooms away and add to our house it would be a walk in shower no door or curtain, walk in closet, and a sun/4 season room. we have no room to add on. sigh, sigh.
I have not been doing any crafting since last Tuesday sit and sew.
THE PERU retreat is coming up fast. I still have not cut out what I to take to the retreat.
I AM not sure about niita doing the driving.she has had a major back/hip problem since getting back from alaska.she won't go to the walk in or er. I have threaten to come and take her.she goes downstairs and can hardly lift her left her leg up a step.to me this is serious.
I am praying if it is not meant for us to go the lord will I know if she gets to the doctor and on meds she could improve. however this will take time.
have a good monday.phyl

Good morning everyone.
Phyl, I know how she feels.. Back in January when I hurt my back it just hurt way too much to be getting dressed, getting in and out of a car, waiting to see a doctor and having to get back in and out of the car again and into the house.Time is what did it and lots of ibuprofen. But it sure is best to have it checked out and get some muscle relaxants and she'd feel much better. Then they'd probably have her go to PT. that seems to be their answer to everything nowdays. Yes less than two weeks left in August so time until your retreat is short.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It's very hot here, highs in the 90s, heat index over 100. Looks like we'll get some lower temperatures by the end of the week, I can't wait. My house is very hot inside, there's just no way to cool it well when it's that hot outside. I went to lunch yesterday with the relatives that are in town, they go home today. It was nice to see them. I don't miss going out on the weekends, there are just so many more people out and much more traffic. Retirement has really spoiled me for running my errands on weekdays. I haven't done any crafting and didn't even get to check out the Sunday blogs yesterday, hopefully I can do that this week. Hope you are all getting some crafting time in. Take care everyone!

Gee, Phyl, sounds like you do have a dilemma. No one wants to go to the doctor, but it sure sounds like some medical attention at least to diagnose the problem, is in order! I hope she improves but also seeks help. No sense being miserable. Its also good for you to know sooner as opposed to later. Would you drive yourself or go with someone else? How far a trip is it for you?
Ah, yes the rhetorical question if we could change our houses how would we... I like where our house is, but to quiet my husband, I wish I could move it to a slightly larger lot. He of course would like at least 10 acres....what he would do with that much property, Lord knows. I might do some renovations, really nothing huge....and would turn the deck into a 4 season room. Other than that, I like our house just fine. Our Dd#2 and her Dh drove by an open house and stopped in to look at it. Think it had 5 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms...huge home and a huge tax bill. Who wants to clean/heat/aircondition/pay the taxes for all that??? Surely not me!! Large homes are lovely but too much for me to maintain. And I would have given the same answer even as a younger woman.
Ruth, yes, I remember I thought you should have gone to the doctor when your back was so bad. I know you know what you are doing and know more than the rest of us....but its still a good idea to get things checked out. any news on when Ds is coming to visit and how long he will be staying??
Well folks, its warm and sticky here. That does not make for a happy Ginny. I did get out for a walk this am (yuck) and took DGD in the stroller for a short while. I just have to ride this out until Thursday when it looks like things will be much better. then it appears as though some normal temps will be here- and nice cool evenings. I have gotten no crafting done since Friday when I took class. So I have some catching up to do for sure. this week is busy so I doubt I will get anything done until next week. Tomorrow is Dh’s birthday, so I have to get some cooking done for that. And I am teaching tomorrow night, better get busy finishing my presentation. I know I sound like a chronic whiner, but its hard to keep my energy up when its hot outside like this.
Take care all Ginny

CJ- our paths crossed....you and I were posting at the same time. Glad you got to spend time with your family!! Its a shame that they return home today- is this a trip they will not regularly make? (Which would be nice for you). Yes, i hear you, retirement can really spoil us, and now we can make choices on when we go out. So Much nicer if you can avoid traffic and crowds! Hope you get your crafting mojo back soon. I am having a tough time being inspired myself. Ginny

It's great to see CJ and Ginny. CJ, I'm glad you got a chance to have lunch with family again before they left but agree that now that we're retired why go out on weekends. On the other thread I post on all but one is retired yet they shop on weekends. Even the one that works only works for an hour or two and sometimes goes back on the same day to work later in the day or in the evening so it seems like she would stop on the way home to shop but we each Have our own preferences and I guess some don't mind going out on weekends. I think some people actually enjoy being in crowds.
Well it's 96 here right now but only 6% humidity. Still feels hot though so I don't know how your girls can stand all that heat and humidity both. It's to cool down here too later in the week
Well my house could certainly have been designed better. I'd like one more bedroom. The lot size is ok...just over an acre.I do have a step in closet. I used to watch a lot of HGTV and couldn't believe that people would actually want 6 or 7 bathrooms. And those same people that wanted all the bathrooms complained that the master bathroom only had a single sink....well, hey, just go to one of the other bathrooms. One woman was on a show where she was looking for a smaller house because even though she was a single woman she had wanted a huge house with several bathrooms and bedrooms but then finally realized all the expense involved in heating, cooling, etc and all the work to clean all that. She admitted she had made a big mistake. I do have ideas of what I would do if I had unlimited fund to remodel but I don't have those funds and will continue to be happy with what I have (although I'd love to have new siding and windows, a concrete driveway and a patio in the back outside the french doors. Even if I won the lottery, which I wouldn't because I don't play, I would stay right here and just make changes. I love the neighborhood. It's nice and quiet and I have an unubstructed view of the mountain and lots of wildlife. No one will ever build in that open land between my house and the houses way back that I can't see becasue they're behind rises, because the land is protected
Ginny, your dgc aren't back in school already are they? Soujnd like you babysat only the baby.

My appointment with the optometrist was this morning ... for computer glasses. She is so cute and so funny and very direct! No glasses - yet! She wants me to have the growth on my eyelid removed and then come back four weeks after that. I realized in answering her questions that she's absolutely correct and that the sudden shift in astigmatism coincides with the growth.
Funny suggestion. To solve the computer problem and resulting dizziness, she said to pull my glasses way forward on my nose and add a pair of non prescription reading glasses!
Anyway I have an appointment on September 6 to have the growth removed, earlier if there's a cancellation.

hey Shall we call Phyl, Dr Phyl? Glad that Nita is getting her discomfort checked out.....it will make for a more stress free trip if she is able to go on retreat. And Phyl, will keep your prayer concerns before the Lord.
Ruth, no, Ginny does not enjoy being in crowds either. I rather like free shipping from Walmart. Schools here start in 2 weeks. Dh had the other 2 grandkids while I walked with DGD to get her to nap.
BBL. took Dh our for breakfast, today is his birthday. Gotta teach this afternoon. Ginny

Happy birthday to your hubby, Ginny.
Sue, It's good that you're having the growth removed. It's strange that it might be associated with changes in something like astigmatisn
It's another hot day here but this is to be the last of the really hot ones. Another day of sitting in front of the fan crocheting...well might have to do a little work too...don't we all.
And yes, online shopping is the way to go. I like it unless there's something that needs to be returned.

he hee I am laughing .Don has called me Dr. phyl for years and a few friends also.
nita has not called or email me yet today.
ok update on Carrie. thank you for your prayers.I would say keep them going for awhile.
the story goes they were camping about 90 miles from here. Saturday Carrie did not feel good so Sunday they came home to the hospital. jeana has stayed at the hospital with her.
the doctor had to put a intervated tube or inversion tube down her.what this does is clamp off in 3 places where she was bleeding from the esophagus. they kept Carrie in another night in the hospital to make sure there would be more bleeding.
CARRIE will come home tomorrow. She can go back to work monday. sister jamie is here and hannah will go back home with her. grandparents live there aslo.
lizzie will pack up thursday. and go the same town she starts school there on the 3rd. I don't know how Jeana did it but she told carrie's parents not to come.course jamie said mom is chomping at the bit,has to much time to think.
I know the reason is jeana feels Carrie will not get any rest.jeana said a year or so ago when the transplant happens they will have to rest for 6 weeks. jeana could be a donor.
mom,dad and jamie come there would be no rest. papa would probably be ok.
when they go there mom always has junk food around. jamie has lupus and does not watch her diet. mom is always sending junk food back with them.
I do not know if this medical condition means Carrie is getting closer to a liver transplant or just part of the disease
thank you for your prayers. phyl

Good morning all!!
Sue, yes its absolutely a good idea to have that growth removed from your eyelid. I know for you this means another round of doctors visits and a hassle, but is something that is best to be done. Perhaps you could schedule it to be done when one of your daughters is visiting.
Dr Phyl, I will continue to keep Carrie in my prayers.
Ruth, hoping that cooler temps are on your way! I know you do not mind the heat (unlike some of us) and humidity is not an issue where you live. But still temps in the 90’s are hot and its nice when its cool enough that you are not compelled to sit in front of a fan or air conditioner all day.
Yesterday was busy. Took Dh out for breakfast and then came home to get dinner made so that when the kids assembled here it was pretty much ready to serve. (I made a pot roast in the crock pot overnight, so it did not heat up the house). By the time I got home from the meeting I had to attend, the DD’s had it all cleaned up and the grandkids were running amok outside. So, no crafting for me at all. I do hope that life can return to normal today. And I am glad to have the meeting over with, and no longer have material to prepare myself to teach from.
Think we have another day or so of hot weather, then it cools down. Right now its overcast, and they say strong thunderstorms are heading our way later on.
Just gonna catch my breath here and finish my tea. Ginny
