Phyl- good to hear that Carrie is coming home today. And hats off to you for cleaning up the playpen. That is always a hassle and craft areas never stay neat!

Phyl, it's great to hear that Carrie is now well enough to go home. When you get done with your playpen would you come and clean mine. Well mine isn't all that bad now that I worked on it the other day but it could still use some reorganizing.I'm glad too that your friend did see her doctor.
I started another one of those V scarves a couple days ago for another dgd. Sure is hard to keep track of those 282 chain stitches. There's a lot of counting involved. In the end I just made some adjustments. You have to have an odd number of chains so that the chain stitch for your V ends up exactly in the middle. Then after about4 rows I found that I had made a mistake on the edge so I left that scarf for later rather than ripping it out and started another. I'm finally almost done with that one. I woke up at 4am thinking about one of the hats I made that turned out too large so I was lying awake trying to figure out if I would be able to find the end of the yarn and get it "unweaved" so I could rip out the ribbing and do it over with a smaller hook to pull the bottom in. I had to keep telling myself to forget it and get back to sleep. SO long story short I found the right thread and was able to do all that and am working on the new ribbing now.

Wow Ruth, you really do eat sleep breathe and drink crochetting! But its that level of concentration that makes you a great crafter and allows you to accomplish so very much.
Well, I finally got to put my machine back on its table and get it all set up and ready to sew again. Then I took out the fabric for my center star, and found that in week one, I had cut it for the center star already. So the squares are pinned together ready to sew now. Guess I will get to sewing it another day. Good to be able to craft again.
I have spent a lot of time online fixing our bills- changing from one checking account to another. Not a lot of fun, but I am getting there. Ginny

Ginny, what a nice surprise to find that you already had that star cut out. I'm glad you were able to get your machine back in it's place and will be able to sew now when you get time.Having to do all that bill paying and working with various accounts is trying but has to be done. I was on my banks site today to order more checks. As I mentioned I rarely use a check but have to have some for two different places that either doesn't accept credit cards or charges for their use.And with a check I can renew my registration without having to go downtown in person.I was shocked to find how much checks cost now. I haven't got new ones in years and years. I finally ordered from a check site instead of from the bank.I should now have a lifetime supply of checks.
Got the hat brim all back in place and I think it will fit fine now. Now I'm back working on the scarf and will probably have it done tonight. Earlier I did also look up the little fasteners I have that I'm going to use for the pendents for the point of the scarf.
I did a bunch of things today too including working some on the garage breaking down cardboard boxes and basically picking up things. I'll work on it a little at a time. We have to work on the so called family room too. I also did some cooking and made dh some pudding
Have a good evening everyone. I was waiting to see if I got an email from my son but I forgot that today is Wed so they're in church probably just now driving home

Ruth, doesn't your bank have free checking for seniors?
Tomorrow I'm having breakfast with DD#1 and DSIL. They are passing through town. We'll probably have dinner tomorrow and breakfast on Friday before they go west. This is research and info gathering for her book. They have to be back in NYC on the 3rd.
Today was hot, but it will be cooler for the next week.

I have never heard of free checks for seniors either. Years ago I switched from the check printing service the banks use to Current. Yes, its a lot cheaper and the checks are just as nice. Plus you save a lot

I think I do remember now that they do give free checks. It was so long since I got new checks that I forgot but these that I ordered are really nice checks and didn't cost much so I don't mind that I ordered them. And, as I said, I probably have enough now to last the rest of my life and more.
I keep getting weird things on my computer. Probably a virus or something. I got an email confirming my purchase from the Apple store. I never ordered anything from the Apple store.I guess I need to check my virus protection. My brother said he was hacked and I had clicked on something I thought he'd sent me

I know I never got free checks other than those starter checks. But I did just order some really nice ones, at a decent price too.
Ruth, I do not open 85% of my emails.....most are spam or folks just selling me something I do not want. Not sure that virus protection will handle that, as the crooks in this world get craftier and craftier as they go on. I know that its recommended that you have more than one email - one more for financial transactions and one for personal needs. Not sure if that advice will help you or not. But I do know that you are not supposed to open emails if you are not certain of the sender. Guess that Apple email falls into that category.
We went out for the day to a lovely resort -the kids paid for us to got here for Dh’s birthday. Beautiful views, nice hike and a very good meal. The day was a treat. Unfortunately, it left me no time to play with fabric. Hoping that I can do that tomorrow. G

I never open most of mine either. When my email arrives it has the first sentence of the message part of the email showing so I didn't have to ope to read that. I know I never have been in the apple store site. I don't get much personal email so, although I actually have three email accounts I only use one. It sounds like you had a lovely day with beautiful scenery and a very nice meal. Better than crafting anytime.
The good thing about making that mistake on the one scarf then leaving it and starting another is that I now have two done. One is for one of the dgd' birthday and one is for my collection that I'm making for Christmas gifts for the other dgds that live here. They are really easy to make after you get past that first row and don't take much time. I'm not sure what I'm going to work on for the rest of the evening but I'll look at my list and see what all needs to be made and what needs to be done first. of course there's always the finishing tasks which I don't like so I put that off all the time. I'm just not feeling up to doing that this evening. I might just make another hat or another earwarmer

Ruth, I could not even begin to figure out how many projects you complete in a year!! Yes, I love your logic on getting two scarves done....congrats on doing so. I am sure you were able to find another project to begin on. Did you ever start that lovely afghan for Ds and DDIL?
We are supposed to be out for a few hours with friends today. Good for me, as its their turn to drive. I am exhausted and slept very poorly last night, for some unknown reason.
Want to get a walk in. The cold front came through so we have much nicer temps. Ginny

Got a lovely walk in, even though it sprinkled a little bit. I am so tired.....just had a cup of coffee to wake me up. I slept poorly last night.
Perhaps the closest thing I am going to get to crafting is that I ordered a new rotary blade online. We shall see if I actually get to be creative at all today. Ginny

Ginny, I'm glad you got your walk in and I hope you have a good time with friends. Crafting can wait until winter although you'll be busy then too with babysitting and all that you do all the time.
I did start to keep a list of everything I made but, like a lot of things it went by the wayside. I think I'll start that up again. I've decided to spend less time on the computer. It's addicting and just wastes too much time that could be used better. So this will be the only place I post. I gave up the other thread I was on and will keep the crochet groups but just to look for yet more patterns and no chatting. I don't spend much time in email now anyway and facebook is limited to just checking to see if any family pictures or catastrophies. No I haven't even started that afgan yet, Ginny. I had it all figured out as to how many blocks I would need and how many of each different one and the colors I want to use but I seem to have put that notebook away "in a safe place" and now don't know where the safe place is but I'll run across it when doing a more thorough cleaning in the next couple weeks. I still have birthday gifts to make and Christmas gifts then I can start the afgan.Although..... I did see a pattern for a wonderful Christmas hat. I'll have to post the link. I'd love to find time to make one for each of the In grandchildren.Remember last year when at the last minute I saw those adorable Christmas tree headbands that I just had to make for them? That was closer to Christmas but I got them done.At least I'll get an earlier start this year although time is flying.
The other thing I need to do is make more donate hats. A woman on another thread that wanted to reduce her stash sent me a box of yarn but it was horribly musty smelling. She must have kept it in her basement or something and she lives in a humid climate. After spending some time in the company of dryer sheets it now smells great so I have a lot of hats to make. I told her I was going to do that and want to stick to that promise. So I'll try to always have a hat going so that I can just pick it up when I have just a few minutes or need some mindless crochet to dowhile visiting with dh and/or whoever happens to be here.Oh and I'll also wash the hats in vinegar water and give them a good rinse when I'm done because I hear a lot of people have allergies to laundry products.
Right now I'm making an Ana beanie. I love them and the pattern is nice and easy and understandable.....and best of all, no mistakes

Ginny,I hope that right now you are sleeping soundly and restfully and will continue to do so until morning and wake up refreshed.I bet you have a busy weekend already planned.Yes ordering a rotary blade counts as crafting.
I finished my Ana hat wrote down some of the things I've made recently and who they were made for. I think I need to make a chart. My evening project was a baseball type hat earwarmer. It fits right onto the hat so that a person can keep wearing those type of hats in the winter and still keep those ears warm. I really do hope I'll get to some finishing work tomorrow. My other planned activity is to wrap the youngest grandaughter's birthday presents and ready them to pack. I want to make a few more scrunchies to put in the box for all the girls before I seal it up so maybe I won't get to finishing until Sunday. We'll see how many scrunchies I feel like making. Then I think I have only two more items, one being very small, to make before I can wrap and pack the next box which will contain gifts for two other grandaughters, the two youngest grandsons, and my son then I'll be done for this year with birthday gifts and will work on Christmas, start that afgan and get ready for the next round of birthdays.
I didn't realize it was this late...11... so I think I'm off to bed. see you all tomorrow
