23 SmartPoints a day is estimated to be 1,200 calories if a member doesnāt go crazy with the zero-point foods. That's interesting zazzles , then why do I read so much about Freestyle not being enough calories? Think I read like 800 ? Some members who are experienced with WW and/or dieting, if they embrace the FreeStyle zero-points list, could construct the majority of their meals and snacks from the zero-point foods list. They would use less than their daily SP allowance. If they then choose to use their remaining daily SPs for āfun,ā they could exceed their daily calorie limit for losing weight. Other members who arenāt experienced with WW and/or dieting, if they use their SmartPoints allowance as their intake limiterāand if they donāt embrace the zero-point foods list, could exhaust their available SPs well before they hit their daily calorie limit for losing weight. Example: a seemingly innocent 2 oz. serving of Hershey Milk Chocolate is 343 calories but 17 SPs. Eat several foods high in saturated fat and/or sugar and the daily points allowance can evaporate long before youāve eaten enough calories to sustain you. This is why some of use have observed that SmartPoints are highly disconnected from calories for the first time in WWās 56-year history.

True, true... seems to be human nature to manipulate the system. Early on, I did too but very quickly found it was not sustainable. Honestly, I knew what I was doing and that I chose to ignore the direction the plan was meant to take me.
Long term I need balance and moderation, not the first plan I was able to do that with and maybe rare but, I found it in Freestyle.

True, true... seems to be human nature to manipulate the system. To me, gaming the system means knowing what you are doing is circumventing what the system is designed to accomplish (like adding significant dietary fiber powder to ice cream to reduce the points). But keep in mind that WW is targeting younger adults who may have never dieted or learned anything about good nutrition and food choices. When they fall into the SP trap, it isnāt gaming the system IMHOāit is a lack of knowledge to guide them. I can just hear some members thinking āIām going to eat zero point breakfast foods, lunch foods, and dinner foods, then Iāll have 23 SPs (or more) when I go out drinking with my friends tonight.ā Now under the PontsPlus plan, with its good health guidelines, that member would know that the RECOMMENDED limit on alcohol was 1 drink for a woman or 2 drinks for a man. But where is that guidance under the SmartPoints system. Gone.

How often have we referred back to those guidelines? I do not understand why they are gone.

How often have we referred back to those guidelines? I do not understand why they are gone. Since they were trying to recruit younger people, I think they saw the GHGs as a negativeāa way of telling people āNOā without using the word. Letās face it, when we all followed the GHGs on PointsPlus, getting them in meant there werenāt a heck of a lot of points left over for indulgence.

That is why I like the itrackbites app.It still has the good healthy guidelines under any plan you choose for you to check off.

Exactly zazzles! I still make jokes about people adding fiber to ice cream. Now that protein is the "key" macro people are making waffles, pancakes, etc. out of it and it is the "cool" thing to do to lower the points and is accepted even encouraged. š¤·āāļø I remember on the old boards some guy was telling us that his leader had encouraged him to eat zero point foods all day so he could have cake at night. I about fell out of my chair. I cannot wait for the end of SP and it's insanity, *chants bring back the GHGs*

FWIW, I lost 20 pounds on that diet. If nothing else it taught me portion control.

This was the best and easiest plan I ever went on. I lost weight easily and always felt satisfied. I'm glad to see that it is still available through members. Thanks guys. My weight is stuck on the Purple and Green plans. I think I'll give this one a try again.
