We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Hi Everyone - just checking in.
Welcome Gail!
I was thinking that Rachel must have been a history teacher in a former life - seems born to it.
My partner's in NYC the next three days on business. So much to do now plus the last minute holiday stuff.
News? Tweets are headlines. Nuff said.

Waving hello to everyone! Just got home from the doctor and got a cortisone injection in my hip joint. Think I have bursitis, but doctor said if still having issues in a couple of weeks to come back because could be caused by my lower back. Good news, however, is that x-ray showed I have no arthritis in my hips. How did I get to the age that an x-ray showing no arthritis would be good news??? LOL This old age stuff just creeps up on you when you're not looking.
Today is a special day for DH. It is the Feast of St. Nicholas (Sveti Nikola). For my Serbian husband this is the most special holiday of all. Sveti Nikola is his family's patron saint and has been so since the early days of Christianity. Normally I would be cooking a big meal and we would be celebrating with as many family as could be here. Last year we couldn't celebrate because my dad was in the hospital with his broken hip. This year my mom and dad are not in condition for a big celebration and my hip isn't cooperating either, so once again we will be low key. We will acknowledge it, however, with the lighting of a candle, saying a prayer, and taking step-son #2 out for a special lunch in a nice restaurant. We will bring in a special meal for my mom and dad to have here. Since this is such an important day for my DH, here's hoping that next year we will be able to celebrate more traditionally.
So the Electoral College is voting today. There will be no real surprises there. It is what it is, and we're just going to have to make the best of it. Hope there are some pieces left to be picked up and glued back together in four years.

Pam, Rachel would be an excellent history teacher. I love that she always does so much background research. She has a good team.

Just saying hello.
With all the sad events in our family this week I just can't spend any energy on the fool that less than half the electorate has decided to elect "king". Sorry for our country.

Pat/PBnJ, when I read your post I clicked on your name and went back and read some of your recent posts so saw where your sister passed. I am so very sorry for your loss. I wish there were words that would make this easier for you, but having lost my own brother I know that there are no words that can help ease the pain. Please just know that I am thinking of you and wrapping you in my prayers.

Joyce great news about your x-rays. I've had bursitis in my knee and shoulder. The injections really helped me. Hope you get some relief
(((Pat))) Don't wastes your energy - you have enough to contend with. So sorry for your loss.

Good morning, all. I had to miss the Oprah interview last night, did any of you get to see it? I was hoping to catch in online at some point. I do not get OWN so cannot watch the repeat on Wednesday.
