luanne, it wouldn't surprise me if his handlers pay people to take up the empty seats so he doesn't feel like he's not loved haha!

Or they might just draw some stick figures into the seats. LOL! Still it's a meaningful gesture, and I wish it would work. Wouldn't you just love for him to see rows of empty seats out there? That would surely make my day!

yogamama007, nashville11, I saw JM interviewed on Morning Joe but, I've never had any doubt that Mattis and Dan Coats pulled our country back from the brink on multiple occasions because of this incompetent simpleton. There's absolutely no one to push back on his dangerous impulses now. Though implied, I thought Mattis' resignation letter was a fairly powerful indictment of Trump. I'm sure his book will be illuminating but, I don't think it will be a blow-by-blow tell-all, given his storied career.
Does anyone remember that open letter from Anonymous? I've always thought it was former DNI Dan Coates.

Pam, thanks for reminding me about the letter from Anonymous. I had forgotten that, and it's interesting that you suspect it was Coates. That sounds like a definite possibility. It is truly frightening that there is no one left to, as you say, "bring us back from the brink." I think it is only going to get worse between now and the election, as he is becoming more and more unhinged as he begins to panic. Donald Trump on his best days (if he has any) is like playing Russian Roulette, and as he becomes more and more erratic and deranged the possible scenarios grow increasingly frightening. Surely the non-Kool-Aid drinkers must see this?? I have to believe they voted for him believing somehow he would miraculously do better in office than the way he portrayed himself on the campaign trail, only to see that instead of evolving once elected he has devolved into sheer lunacy.

birdgal, No, no. It was totally appropriate to head the thread that way. We just want to shove it away from the forefront of our minds for now, until the next time. Unfortunately, there will be a next time. The thread title sums up a result of the current administration. I'm scared about what you don't post! Just kidding - you express my emotions so often...

Agree Miss Pammie, As long as he feels that Trump (or as Biden calls him Hump, Big Lump would do too, but I digress) is still his Commander in Chief he will be selective in what he says. I want to read his book to get more of a background feel for the man. As you know, you can tell a lot about people by their backstory.

Thank you for the kind and encouraging words!
I miss Linda too. I don't blame her for getting out of Dodge at this moment. Wise decision.
The thread started as a place to hang out and chat politely about Progressive ideas with like minded people as well as those who see things differently.
To talk and discuss laugh and learn with each other and perhaps even find common ground.
It has somehow morphed into the Donald Trump show. Just like every news and late night talk show. All Trump all the time. It does get on my last nerve.
A friend said she never knows what to expect from this maniac and it troubles her that so many people walk around worried, fearful, and depressed all the time.
Good for Linda. She deleted a stressful thing in her life. Goodness knows we all have enough stress on our plates to begin with.
It's not normal. He's not either. He's the worst thing to crawl into Our House. We need a BIG can of Raid.

I wonder what the 10 democratic candidates will talk about for 3 hours Thursday? I guess it partly depends on the moderators. I am excited to watch it. It is central time 7pm to 10pm.

Now our Reality Show president has tweeted that he was going to have a secret meeting at Camp David on Sunday with the Taliban, but, too bad, had to cancel due to Taliban violence. If you believe this, I have a bridge for sale.

I hope it's not all about how bad Trump is -because we know that! We need them to talk about what THEY plan to do, not how bad the other candidates are. I get so sick of the "me? no -wait look at them instead!" deflection crap. As far as I can tell - not one of any parties candidates - deserves my vote yet. They have not earned that privilege.

I also hope they will focus on what THEY will do, and I'm looking forward to having all the front runners on the stage together. As for not deserving my vote yet, to be honest, whoever is on the ticket is who I will be casting my vote for regardless. I've reached the point that the only thing necessary for deserving my vote is to NOT be Donald Trump. As for who I will vote for in the primary, it will be whoever at that time seems most likely to be able to defeat Trump. I know that's not what our founding fathers envisioned. I know that's not what the suffragettes envisioned for me as they marched and fought to get the vote, and it's most certainly not what I ever envisioned myself doing but I have reached the point that getting rid of this aberration of a democracy is what I believe is the only possibility for the nation's (as we know it) survival, so that's the depths that I have sunk to.

As for inviting the Taliban to Camp David, I don't know if he made the whole thing up or not. It wouldn't surprise me. But personally, I don't really like the idea of inviting the Taliban here especially during the week of 9/11. It seems almost obscene. Do I want peace in Afghanistan and our troops out of harm's way. Of course, but I doubt that's going to be happening, and even if there were a possibility IMHO it would have been better to have the meeting outside the US in a neutral place and NOT during 9/11. Also I wouldn't trust DT to negotiate himself out of a paper bag, much less any lasting peace deal. For someone who bills himself as the "great negotiator and deal maker" everything I've seen him try has been a total flop.

I don't think our Founding Fathers or Mothers envisioned something as abhorrent being the president of the USA.
If they even considered a maniacal would be king as our dictator/king, I have to believe they'd also believe true patriots would rise up against him and his disgusting and dishonest minions, to restore true democracy and decency. He is one of the very thing we revolted against in the first place.
July 4th is not just about BBQ's and beer. People died on the battlefield for US.
I hope we haven't totally lost sight of those patriots. Because if we have, We were not worth their sacrifice.
Joyce, I think they would consider your reason for voting the way you want to, and I will do the same, as the honorable American thing to do.
Rant over. Had to say it. So over this blathering cruel idiot and his bleary eyed cheerleaders representing America, representing you and me, to the world!
Have a nice day. 🦅

I don't really think DT made up the Taliban thing. It was just so annoying the way he spilled the beans on twitter. What else is new?
