Well after today I guess summer is considered over.I'm not looking forward to a long cold winter but I won't mind when next week it's only in 7o's rather than 90's
Got my third hat of the day done last night just before I went to sleep.I love the pattern for this week as I think I said before. YOu can do so many different things with it. The first two hats of the day were completely different patterns and when dh saw the camo stripe one he mentioned that he liked it so I guess that was his favorite of the three. I may have to make more of those. Today I think I want to make some in various shades of blue but all my plans are subject to change at any time. I also want to get together what I'm taking with me tomorrow to work on while I wait for my oil to be changed.I'm still procrastinating on the finishing work.
I hope you all have a good day and a good week. We have no Labor day plans and it's going to be too hot to work outside or really inside since the house is also hot

I know, i†seems as though we are expected to just shift right into fall mode, although there is plenty of summer weather left!l Ruth, does Dh want a hat from camo yarn. That would be pretty funny, I once made a camo hat for my girlfriends first. Grandchild.
Ok I am ready to scream. My wireless keyboard is acting up, so I’m now voice texting. Finally this whole process very frustrating. I did get a chance to work on the half square triangles today that I need to make the center store for my quillt. Felt good to get some crafting time in. Hope everyone is enjoying the extra day of the weekend. Take care

My house is hot, too. Cooler days ahead.
hb has wanted to go to the cabin, so I arranged for J Caregiver to take him. About ten minutes before J arrived, hb said he didn't feel good and wasn't going to go. I think there are going to be more and more days like that.
What a mess with Dorian! I couldn't live in hurricane country or tornado alley. I wonder if I would feel that way if I had grown up there. Moving to cold weather/ long winter country never bothered me. There are different things I do in the winter. More crafty time.
What's your elevation, Ruth? We're at about 4,900 feet. The cabin is 6,500. There are mountain peaks of 10,000 feet plus.

Well the computer hiccoughed and post is gone.
Great to see you Sue. I feel bad about your dh but it does sound like you will be right in your prediction and there will be more days like this to come...Here at my home we are just over a mile in elevation. I'm not sure what the elevation on the mountain is.
Ginny, I'm glad to hear you were able to get in some quilting time.
Well the fire is now up to just under 20,000 acres and is, at most, 27% contained. It's cost $5 million so far to fight the fire. They estimate that it will maybe be contained sometime around Sept 15th. All the roads to that area are closed and from how they described the mandatory evacuation locations, my land has undoubtedly burned. Seven structures have burned. One family has a large ranch out there and has had it for generations and it's been manditorily evacuated so I would guess that some of the structures where there. My land adjoins that ranch.
I'm still working on hats amoung other things. I have one toddler size one done so far and a larger one started. I'm trying to make them school age child size and in blue for the anti bullying campaign. I'll give those, along with my others, to the Caps for Kids group who will give the blue ones to schools in the area
I wouldn't want to live in a hurricane or tornado area either. I just can't believe that people go back and rebuild right in the same location where they've already lost a home. Several people from old ww board live in the area that will be affected by this current storm

Ginny, as you know I recently went thru that too with my keyboard acting weird. Your's seems to be ok except that the "h"s are missing and instead there's a ' mark

HI GIRLS I sent Nita a email, apologize for being on her back. she said no need to apologize.she said it is just my nature.
also added if I don't go I will be on her s--t list. so I am going.she was walking a little better
so let her find out what riding ,sitting and driving pain is all about.
WE stopped over there for awhile. wanted to see the workman ship on her shower they had put in by another company.the price was about 2,000 less then what Marge quoted us.don't know much about this company.
we had lunch at dairy queen.,bummer they no longer have the the five and six dollars lunch and sundae meal. now it is 2 for 4 dollars.soda is extra and so is the sundae if I have it right
NITA bake cookies for the retreat today. standing made her leg painful. I told her not to do so much running around this week it she can help it. she needs to rest that leg.
YOU WOULD THINK THE GROIN MUSCLE WOULD SHOW A LITTLE IMPROVEMENT.
HER LEG DID NOT TURN BLACK AND BLUE. THAT IS WHY I THINK IT IS NOT THE GROIN..I KNOW IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO HEAL.
I FIGURE WHEN I HAVE TO DRAG OUT THE SWEATSPHYLHIRTS AND JEANS IT IS AUTUMN.

Ruth Don heard the insurance companies tell people they have to build in the same place. that is true it is stupid rule on their part.
now if that is just for floods I don't know phyl.

Yes I think Don is right about that. I do think they want everyone to rebuild on the same lot...dumb if you ask me. Well I'm glad you'll be going to that retreat. I hope Nita doesn't suffer too much pain.

I cannot imagine living in constant fear of a hurricane or tornado. We might see some minor wind/ rain from Dorian but that is it .
Ruth , sorry that your property has burned . I hope that those few individuals who live there are safe and did not lose everything .
Sue , glad you were able to join us. Sorry that Dh is so changeable. When does your DD come to visit?
Phyl, guess it’s good news that Nita seems better. Hope that you can go on a safe and fun trip together

Well, last night I had a dog of a time falling asleep.....and got up and decided to finish squaring off my blocks for the center star and then got it all laid out on the floor. Not sure if I will get to sew today or not.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Ruth - That sounds like a terrible wildfire, I wonder why we don't hear about it on the news. Is it just common to have them each year?
It's warm here again for a few days, but then it will get cooler at the end of the week. Looks like we might not get any heavy rain from the hurricane, but I guess that could change. The pictures from the Bahamas are just devastating. It's so terrible when natural disasters destroy people's homes.
I had a funny crafting dream last night. I dreamed I was with someone who had a shirt that had embroidery all over the front of it. It wasn't decorative embroidery, it was sayings that had been hand embroidered
I went out earlier and ran some errands and picked up some groceries, so that's done for another week or so. I really need to figure out some different meals for the rest of this year. I'm just so tired of the foods I've been eating this summer.
Take care everyone!

I got home not too long ago from getting my oil changed. Even though it's a Kia I had the oil changed at the Honda dealer because first of all I had a good experience with them with my Honda and they don't charge an arm and a leg and today I found out how very nice they are there. I was sitting crocheting and one of the employees stopped and talked about crochet and offered me coffee and a donut(which I didn't have a donut). I had already had a latte from their fancy machine which another employee made it a point to show me how it worked. Then yet another employee, as he was walking by asked if I needed a refill on my coffee. The also bring your vehicle right up to you..The VW dealer does that too. This Honda dealer doesn't wash your car themselves but they give you a coupon for a free car wash at a regular car wash place. Everyone that you walk by greets you and asks if you need anything. The Ford dealer is so off my list as a place to do any kind of business. I still haven't received the check for the little amount of money they agreed to pay me.
I then went to the grocery store where I got my money back for the items that weren't put into my cart. They were very nice too.
CJ, I think they don't mention the fire because it's not in a populated place and not likely to spread to anywhere that it could do a whole lot of damage to businesses or homes. My state is not usually mentioned much anyway. It's like we're not even part of the US sometimes
Also CJ, I would like to think up different meals too. I do have certain cool weather foods but I think dh is getting tired of them

Ginny, my DD was here ten days ago. They were in town about 36 hours! We had two breakfasts together. I went to the library to visit her Grammar Table, and they spent a little time here the evening after the Grammar Table set up. Then they headed west before returning back to NYC.
I missed quilting last week because of one of the breakfasts. C
