Sue, any visit with our children is great no matter how short.
I finished the hat I worked on at the car dealer. I think I'll start another of this week's pattern on the CAL. It's easy so doesn't take much thought. I had to take a nap earlier because I was so tired and I still feel tired. I think I need vitamins.

Ruth, do you take Vitamin D? A few years ago when I had my lab work, my vitamin D level was extremely low. Now I take 5000 mg daily. It makes a difference, but so do other things. I think I was born tired! Getting older doesn't help!
Today is going to be 91 degrees, and its windy. I think this is our hottest day this year. It's windy, and the fire danger is high. I think it's supposed to rain Friday, and then the temperature is going to be in the mid 60s for a week.
I'm procrastinating right now. I have a phone conference scheduled with the Probate attorney later today. The reason things are taking so long is only because my sister's friend has turned hostile and refuses to send any information. It will be finished with or without his help.
The dogs have been out several times, and I walked around the yard with them several times. With the wind, it's fairly nice under the willow tree. This is the kind of day for running through the sprinklers, popsicles, and iced tea. I have a lot of herbal teas. I like lemon/ginger the best!

Sue, sorry I missed your Dd’s Trip. I get all bogged up in my mind at times and lose track of what is going on in your lives. I know you were looking forward to her visit, and it must have been disappointing that it was so short. But Ruth said it well, any visit is better than none. Indeed.....the will will be settled even if your sisters friend is not cooperative. Its just a shame for you that he has chosen to be difficult. I just found a new herbal tea- celestial seasonings sleepytime detox. Tried it for the first time last night and I love the taste. Figure my body needs all the help it can get.
Ruth, my daughters and subsequently me, had a virus of sorts that had us exhausted. I was convinced there was something really wrong, and now, for no good reason, I got my energy back. But vitamins might help too- some nutrients are really hard to come by even with an excellent diet. And its hard to keep things balanced as we mature. Don’t blame you for getting the oil change at the Kia dealership. Sounds like they treat you well....and deserve your business. Congrats on finishing the hat.
CJ- well were they nice sayings on the shirt??? Ha ha ha.. You know, perhaps we should each contribute a recipe here every week. To us it could be “old hat” , but to the rest of you it could be an inspiration. think we all suffer from the problem of making the same recipe all the time. Its tough watching the coverage from Dorian. Think you will see some of the rain and wind, but not too bad. Hope you are inland enough.
No crafting today, other than looking at my center star, laid out on the floor waiting for final sewing. We are going to a friends house for dinner this evening- just pizza. Should be a pleasant evening. Ginny

Sue, sorry that person is being so difficult. I'm sure he feels justified since he was her "partner" for awhile apparently. My vitD test way back was seriously low and I too vit D 5000u/day for awhile but my last test was fine but then that was in 2010 so it could be low again. I'll start taking it and see if that works. For quite awhile I ate in a very unhealthy way so I wouldn't be surprised if my vitamin levels are wacky.
Ginny, I haven't had any viruses that I know of. I don't think I even had colds this past winter.Recipes, well I don't usually follow recipes, I kind of just add a little of this and that. Right now when it's so hot it's even harder to decide what to have for dinner, etc. I hope it's cooler when ds is here so I can make some of the oven things that have been suggested by guess who...yep, Ginny. Ginny you seem to be very creative in planning meals.
I did make one more hat this morning. I need to get off this hat session and get other things done.At least I've met my hat goal and I'm sure will make many more.
Yes that Honda dealer had someone call today to make sure my visit to them went well. I told her it was great and dh heard me talking and afterward said that it sounds like they're way above and beyond the Ford dealer and he was right.
Well, speaking of fires...Sue did...they have the area fire where my land is 60% contained now and are lifting the evacuation orders. Could have been much worse if this occured in a populous area.
I don't think Phyl has left for her retreat yet. I'm not sure when it was scheduled for.

I've completed two more hats and now that I've done this last one I've decided that it's the one I want to make for sil for Christmas instead of the one I was going to give him. I also saw a picture of a hat done in some yarn that I bought recently and have decided to make at least one dgd a different one than the one I had planned to give to her made with this newest yarn.Maybe both of the dgds that have upcoming birthdays will get a replacement hat depending on how the first one turns out. I don't have the exact color that was used for the pictured hat but I think the colors I have will be great too. (don't know why I have those slashes thru my words ) So three more hats on my agenda then to other things...looks like I got rid of the slashes
I also saw a good idea on attaching pompoms so I'm going to try it and see if it works better than my method. I like to make the poms removable for washing the hat
I hope you are all having a good day. It's hot here yet again but only one more day and it will be cooler.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today We finally have our break in the hot weather and it's only in the 70s today and cloudy. Still a bit humid though. Looks like 70s and 80s days for the next week. I went to the Amish Market today, with one of my relatives. We had a nice visit talking on the way there and back. I picked up a few sweet treats, a pretzel filled with a hotdog and cheese, and also bought some green beans. I'm cooking them with some country ham in the pot and I'll eat them for several days. We probably won't go back to the market until December when they put out the Christmas items. It's just as well, since there is pretty much nothing but high calorie food in there. Not much else going on with me, I've just been keeping track of the hurricane. It doesn't look like we'll be affected in my area, but I have family and friends in the Virginia Tidewater area and I love the Outer Banks of NC (see my avatar ), so I hope they don't get a lot of damage down there. Take care everyone!

Hi!
CJ - glad you checked in. From what I am seeing of the weather, your family in the Virginia Tidewater region should be ok. I think the steering currents will be sending this storm out to sea as it travels northward. I sure hope so!!! And it sounds like you are far enough inland that you will be ok. All good news. Gotta say that ham with green beans is a speciality of yours! Think its something you make every year....as I remember you enjoying that many times before. Amish markets are so much fun, but as you noted, full of delicious but high calorie foods. Sounds like you had a nice trip in the car, good conversation.
Ruth, well there must have been something in the air, as I cannot figure out why your keyboard was putting slashes in words and mine was acting strangely the other day. You are really into making hats these days. Where did you find the method of putting on the pompom after the hat is made....as in a removable Pom Pom.? They are so cute, but I have had trouble with them falling apart in the laundry. I am sure that you have some really cool yarn colors in your private stash- and will be able to make hats for SIL and both DGDs that are perfect for them. Not sure what kind of bug I had a week ago, but really, its only symptom was fatigue. My dd’s Had the same thing.Rather strange. How are you feeling now,?? Would you consider taking a multivitamin?
Sue, has the rain started yet and your temperatures fallen?? Bet that is tough getting the dogs walked in crummy weather.
Phyl- hope you have been able to pick out a good project to work on while on retreat. Prayers for a safe journey and a good time. Good health also.
Just got back from BOM, so that is my quilting/crafting for today. Hard to believe that she is now talking about finishing the quilt. That is scarey. Hope I can finish it and make it look ok.
Have a good night all Ginny

Good to see you CJ and see that you went to the Amish market with family and had a good time doing that. That would be a dangerous place for me. I'd be so tempted with all the goodies that are there. I'm glad your weather is cooler and that you aren't going to be affected much, if at all by the hurricane.
Ginny, I hope you had a good day with your grandbaby. She does sound like such fun.
Well I haven't really put on many pom poms yet but I did one yarn one a couple years ago for one dgd hat and just used the string that you put around the yarn while making it thru the top of the hat and tied it in place inside. I've heard that they don't hold together well. Now I have some of the faux fur poms that have little elastic loops. I put one of those on a hat for another dgd, put yarn thru the elastic loop and tied inside and it looked like it was nicely in place but the other day I tried that same thing on another hat and the pom is still wobbly so I have to try another way. Some people put them on by sewing a button inside the hat and put the elastic around the button. Others use the ones with snaps but I would thing those still would be wobbly. Today someone mentioned holding them in place with one of those little curved hair holders that are metal and click into place so I'm going to try that. I want them removable because my ddil launders everything and doesnt hand wash. The fur poms aren't supposed to be washed and the yarn ones, I'm told fall apart. I do have a Clover pom pom maker but haven't tried it yet.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and getting ready for a nice weekend Weather here is cooler and breezy and cloudy - but it looks like the sun is trying to come out this afternoon. I have my windows open to catch the breeze. I like a cloudy day sometimes, so I'm happy if it stays that way. I had a funny dream last night that I was responsible for fixing dinner for a bunch of people but I didn't know it and I didn't have much food in the house. I cooked everything I had but the people weren't happy with what I gave them Dreams are so strange. Hope you are all getting some crafting in. Take care!

CJ, good to see you as always. I'm glad you're getting a nice breeze. There was a nice cool one coming in here earlier but not now. It's hot in my house.Tomorrow is to be cooler
Yes that sounds like a dream I woud have since I'm always worried about what to serve to company. I usually dream that I'm at work
I did try the hair clip thing today to hold pompom in place and it works great. The pom doesn't wobble at all and it will be easy to take off and put back on and won't catch in the person's hair.
Started a hat last night and wondered why it was turning out so very small. Well finally read over the pattern again and found that I missed a row of increasing. Usually the increases are all together but this hat has you do several rows of increase, then a row of fpsc, then another row of dc increase. I just evidentally went by rote and automatically just did a row of dc around with no increases. So I've ripped it out back to that point and will now finish it and it will be the size I intended
