As a Catholic, I do observe Lent. I am giving up something, but I am also doing something more and good for myself, plus the other usual things done during Lent. At my age I'm exempt from fasting, but I am going to cut back on the amount I eat at a meal, which I should probably be doing anyway, all the time.
I don't have anything special planned today, do some exercise and work on whatever else needs doing. There always seems to be plenty of that.

Happy Wednesday everyone. DebDoesWW,Sending positive thoughts and vibes to you today. pbnj,I hope you get relief from your headache and hope you can get your cap fixed. I hope everyone with colds and allergies are better today. We in Texas were really suffering with allergies yesterday with 100% humidity. It's a little cooler today and this afternoon the humidity is supposed to go way down so I hope that helps.I have been on Zyrtec and throat lozenges for 2 days and poor DH can't understand what I'm saying so I have to repeat myself and I tell him please don't ask me to repeat myself. It hurts.LOL.We just went through this 2 weeks ago with him so I know how much trouble he has understanding me. Our church doesn't observe Lent but does Easter of course. They mostly advocate eating especially on Wednesday nights before the prayer service and believe me it's not healthy eating so we haven't gone in several months. We may start up again after DST though. I need to get ready for Curves and more grocery shopping.BBL. Have a great day no matter how you spend it!

Deb- good luck with the infusion. May I ask what it's for? I take a weekly shot for my RA and I'm much better now. When I first started I was a real baby. It's just a single shot that I give myself, but it's an actual medicine bottle, syringe, the whole bit. I thought it was going to be a pen where I would not see it.
I dread the day I have to go on infusions. Good luck to you

I'm IN.
Happy birthday to your son, pbnj! Sending good vibes that your headache will ease up and that the dentist will call back in a timely manner...
Looboobelle, that Hunger Banquet sounds like an interesting introduction to this Lenten season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving...
I strive to do a daily meditative reading/reflection and beginning today I'll switch over to one that is "specially designed" for the Lenten season. I'll also maintain the meatless Fridays but since my food choices are already pretty simple I'm not aiming for any cutbacks there (also not eating lobster every Friday with the excuse that it's "not meat" <aHEM>).
When I worked for the church, I thoroughly enjoyed moving through the Seasons of the Church Year with whatever markers are unique to each.

Good morning all! I was out the door early for our 2 mile walk, then home to shower and change and I took DH for a dental appointment. Then we stopped in to say good bye to our family doctor who is retiring after being our doctor for 35 years. I took her some decorated sugar cookies that DD prepared. Hearts and stethoscope cookies, the doctor loved them. She cried when she saw us. It was hard saying good bye.
It's 83 degrees here this morning but it is "supposed" to cool off this afternoon. March will probably give us crazy weather, it usually does.
Hope everyone enjoys "hump" day. Healing vibes going out to all that need it.

I'm of the age that does not require me to fast and go meatless but I do anyways! I try to do something positive everyday during lent, I feel that makes more of an impact than giving up something. Work has been exhausting so far, might skip zumba. Really irritated that I forgot to leave the key for the housekeeper, of course I have people coming over this Saturday for my annual tacky bowling party.

Linda-I love the idea of doing something positive every day during Lent. I might borrow your idea and try that. I agree that it will make more of an impact than giving something up. Thanks for the good suggesstion

Hey All...definitely *into* Lent here, as J will be so busy at the organ the next 6 weeks. I went to a noon service. I wasn't raised in a denomination that gave too much attention to Lent, so it's been new for me the past 20 years. After so many years of failing at *giving up sugar* giving up Dt Cokes* I also try to see what positive changes I can make in my behavior. @louboobelle I think your dinner sounds so interesting; I'll be looking forward to hearing about it. I got my March WI taken care of; what a gift that it's more of a habit than a giant stress these days. DebDoesWW Thinking of you!

Got up this morning and went to the morning Ash Wednesday service. Instead of giving up something we were encouraged to embrace the joy of Lent; savoring spending time with Him. I'd already decided that my action is going to be continuing to journal and to note things I'm grateful for each day.
I did go to work out after church then went grocery shopping. That task is finished. Hope everyone has a peaceful day and healing vibes to those who need them.
