Watched some football last night, and also got the center star finished. Spent some time ironing the remaining colored fabrics for the corner stars. So now I am back on track with where I should be. On to the sashing- well in a couple of days.
Baby sitting today. See ya later. G

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today The weather here is back up into the 80s and 90s this week, so I'm back to using the portable AC. I figure I only have a few more weeks before I can put it away, so that's not too bad. I've been getting documentation ready for me to get my driver's license renewed this week. I have to get one of the new ones that are required in the U.S., so I have to bring my original birth certificate, original Soc Sec card, and some other identification. I'm hoping all the things I have are acceptable. I've made an appointment since that was recommended. I also wrote up some checks to pay bills so I can mail them when I go out. I've been trying to figure out what glasses I want to wear in the picture. I don't really like the frames of my current glasses, so I might wear the old ones. I've been meaning to take the old ones to the eye doctor and get my current prescription new lenses put into the old frames, I just haven't gotten around to it. I checked out some quilting blogs today since there is a new blog hop starting this week. I like those since you get to check out a variety of different blogs. Here's a link in case you want to check it out: karrinscrazyworld.blogspot.com/I stewed some of the frozen rhubarb and strawberries I'd gotten fresh a few months ago and I'm enjoying that over some vanilla yogurt. I'll have enough for tomorrow too. That's about as exciting a day as I care to have Take care everyone!

CJ, my dh and I did the license renewal a couple years ago and thankfully I had several official copies of my birth certificate and dh had one of his. Getting them now costs a fortune. As for the picture, well here they don't allow you to keep your glasses on for the picture. Funny that you mention the rhubarb and strawberries because I just had some stewed the last three days on my oatmeal. I made it last week and used part in a crisp and saved the rest for my breakfast.
I'm going to go check that blog hop

Yes, thanks CJ for posting that blog hop- sounds like it will be fun to check it out and see what others are posting/doing. I renewed my license to meet the new standards about 2 years ago, and brought what seemed like overkill in documentation. Think having an appointment is a great idea. Hope it goes well for you and you have the necessary documentation you need to get your license renewed. It is an ordeal. We are also in for some summer weather for a few days. Perhaps this is the end of summer and we can enjoy cooler weather from here out. Hope you enjoyed the strawberries and rhubarb!!!
Ruth, praying tomorrow goes well for DGD and DGGD. Your Ds arrives at the end of the week, if I am thinking clearly?
Dd came over to do laundry this evening. Good to see her. Will check out the blog CJ left- thats gonna count as my crafting today. G

Ginny, good to hear that you got the center star done and have all the fabric ready to do the corner ones. Thank you for the prayers for dgd and new dggd. :Yes, you're right about my son. He arrives on SAturday. I hope he gets back to me on the time his plane is expected to land otherwise I won't know what time to get to the airport. Well if he doesn't email back by wed I'll email and then even call if necessary.
Started a houndstooth hat last night and finished it today and am now working on the ribbing band for a hat to work on tomorrow at the dealer. It's a bottom up hat so ribbing is made first. On the houndstooth it looks my "houndstoothy" on the inside that the outside but I can't just turn it inside out because when I was carrying the colors up I missed tucking it in on a row and so there's a length of loose yarn. Otherwise I'd do that but it actually looks fine this way so it will work regardless.
Have a good night all

Hello Crafters Ruth - I'll keep you and your family in my prayers, please let us know how your DGD and the baby are. Ginny - We're getting the hot weather again too. I'm ready for some lovely fall weather. I went today to get my license renewed, cost me $48 for 8 years. I was able to take off my glasses, so I had worried about that for nothing I agree that all the documents are overkill. I can see the birth certificate (I guess), but otherwise vehicle ID and the current Drivers license should be enough. But I have to say the whole process went very quickly and easily. I was actually out of Motor Vehicles before the time my appointment was supposed to be I stopped by a few stores after getting the license and picked up some food for my meals today at Mission BBQ. They are very supportive of military and first responders. I love their brisket. mission-bbq.com/I'll check out the quilting blogs for today too and that's probably going to be my crafting for the day. Hope everyone has a great day and that you all take care.

CJ- after a few hours dealing with DMV, I do not blame you for just relaxing and checking out quilting blogs for inspiration. Glad your trip was successful and that you had what was needed for a license renewal. My license costs a little under $200- no you cannot blame that all on NY state, much of that cost is related to having a commercial drivers license. Same as you, mine is good for 8 years....although I figure in 6 years when mine is due for renewal, I will drop the CDL component. Hope you got some great food items at mission BBQ! Sounds like a wonderful organization.
Ruth, prayers continue for DGD and DGGD. Hope to hear good news later on that the baby is born and all is well. Congrats on getting the next hat started!!
Worked this am- but it was helping with the safety drill and doing a driver evaluation. Easy morning for me. Got DGD napping now. She should be up soon.
Take care- hope Phyl is enjoying her retreat.

CJ,yes you would think that a current driver's license and car registration would be adequate but here too you have to show an official birth certificate, not just a copy that you made yourself and you also have to show social security card and something with your address on it even a piece of junkmail will do. I forget how much ours cost but it's nowhere near what yours cost but ours is only for 4 years so it probably comes out the same...no like Ginny's with the cdl included. I love bbq and you would think they would have good bbq places here but they don't. I'll be over to help you eat what you got. Ginny, you must have a lot of energy. Thank you both for the kind thoughts and for the prayers. She hasn't been born yet as far as I know but she is definitely having a very active labor acc to my dd. Just got home from the car dealer not long ago. I also stopped and did some shopping.we'll go out on Thurs to finish up the shopping. Son will arrive SAturday as I already told you...like to repeat myself It complicate things my grandson and his family will be in town this weekend too to celebrate his son's 3rd bday which is today. I think they're having a party on Saturday for him. I haven't told any of them that my ds is arriving because I don't know what my son wants to do regarding visiting them so I'll see how things work out

Today was a chauffeur day for me. hb had a dental appointment, part of the follow up from his last tooth cleaning. The appointment was for a partial exam. We wound up going back so the dentist could put in a filling. During the 45 minute wait for the filling, I had some pages scanned so I could send them to the attorney, sent the file. Then I dropped off hb and went to get the tag for the license plate. Amazingly there was no line! Then back to pick up hb.
It's been raining again today. I enjoy snow more, but rain is good, especially at this time of year.
