I had some kind of sinus infection the week before the teeth surgery. Some variation of it hit most of my coworkers.
I like to zone out, and either read or listen to music when I exercise on the machines. I would like to find someone to go to a yoga class with though for the accountability.
Sue, hope the surgery goes well tomorrow.

Sue - will be thinking of your SO with the surgery. Hope all goes well. I'm sure there will be some recovery time before he knows how it all goes.
Jotan - hope you are still recovering well. I have a really runny nose and have increased my antihistamine to 2x/day. Sometimes it is hard to know if it is a cold or allergy.
Holly - how is the scar on your forehead doing. DH has a scar from the cut he had in Houston last Fall when he ran into to revolving door.
Going to the car service shop to get my sunroof fixed (won't open and close right) then to Kohl's for pants for DH

Yikes - my sunroof is $3000 to fix! I have to get the whole thing replaced. They say it is just old (8yrs) and has warped. This is the 3rd car I have had with a sunroof and never had anything like this before. Have to get it fixed - no choice. What a bummer!! Always something, isn't it.
However, the deal of the day was that I went to Kohl's with DH and bought him 3 pairs of pants (2 dress and 1 jeans) and a dress shirt for $64.00!! All the items were on sale and I had a 30% off coupon and a $5.00 coupon. Thought this was really good. (unfortunately doesn't offset the $3000 for the car!)
Tonight I guess we will have the vegetable soup and cornbread left over from the birthday party.

JoAnne, do you use your sun roof? We seldom if ever use ours so if it broke and was closed I'd just forget it! However, open would be another story!!
I haven't been to Kohl's in ages---for some reason I never think about going there. BF goes there with coupons a lot and gets good deals, too.
I was determined to start at the gym-=--so took a Br. Treatment and by 10 am was on the road---got there, checked in, sat down to wait for my class and realized I was wheezing---and thought what an idiot I am to think I can do aerobic dance with this problem still not gone--so I left and my exercise was going to Trader Joe's and Target for supplies and some groceries. So bummed. I miss my friends I've made and just the stimulation of being around others.
DH is worse today---he did take 10 min of a br treatment but he hates the side effects so we shut it off at 10 instead of the 15 to 20 it should be.
Got through my second day---maybe I said this earlier--no sugar yet today and none intended. I did buy some more blueberries and some great apple---thinking of having some berries with a bit of Gr yogurt right now as a snack. Tonight I'm going to make salmon patties---they won't be as good as usual because I am using canned Salmon but I'm out of filets. Don't know why but I am craving them. Just went out and cut a bunch of baby kale so will make a salad with it and a lemon white balsamic dressing. I had 3 small slices of port tenderloin with mustard for lunch and a few baked apple slices with no sugar. My weight was down a couple more ounces but best news was that it was not up--
I did not realize that your DH had gotten a wound by walking into something---was that on your trip?
Wow this cough certainly does not want to let go of me!
I picked up another sport bra at Target---doing the 6 day gym thing is just taking too much laundry--this way I have one for five days---if I like this one I may go get another sometime. Doing my gym clothes one day a week would be so easy--I have the gym pants to do that now and it's really helped.

Hi all,
I did Walk and Talk around the indoor track with my coworkers today so I can skip the bike for today.
JoJo, wow that's a lot! Kohl's does have great deals. The basal cell scar is healing...very slowly. It could take up to a year to fully heal. I'm just ready for the puffiness to go down completely so I can cover it with make up.
Joan, you'll get there. Better to wait than relapse and be sidelined completely again.

Wow, that is a long healing timeline, Holly---it must have been pretty extensive!
Glad you got to walk today---nice to have social time as a perk.
The salmon patties actually were so very good--I actually did like the canned salmon because it reminded me of when I was a kid---I always loved the little soft bones! I do scrape off the skin tho---not deep just the wetter part---my mom did too. I know it's really healthful but just not my thing. Made brocolli from the garden and a little mini romaine salad instead of the kale. We had a FF/SF pudding after. It gives me a taste of something sweet so that I don't find myself feeling as tho' dinner still has snacking to come---sort of a sign the kitchen is closed as, Sue, you used to say.
DH is wheezing so bad---just like I was, can hardly talk--he actually asked for a full br treatment so I know he is really bad. Feel sad that he refused to used the guest bedroom when I started feeling this coming on a week ago Saturday. Now he really understands why I wasn't doing anything at all--no cooking, nothing!
So I'm doing dishes tonight again---will be for a while I think. I hope his doesn't last as long but it might. I shudder to think what would happen if someone another ten years older with COPD or something caught this---might be fatal or at the least hospitalizing.

Good morning Sue, Holly and JoAnne!
No wind so far today and supposedly now we are warming up and probably for good. The last couple nights dropped really low for Vegas in March. Hopefully get these veggies in the ground before it's too late.
Was so pleased to actually watch the scale fail to register a whole pound---who's, eating by the dr. Avoidance list has taken me down almost 3 pounds---now I know that can be the early shock of diet change but I ate a lot last night---I was craving the salmon so much I had two patties which I just never do. And I've had no walking other than TJ's and Target--did about 15 countertop pushups both bicep and tricep but other than that nothing. So I'm feeling energized to continue--8 # from goal---at one point about a week and a half ago it was more like 12 or 13 but I think that highest weight day was sodium related so really am down almost 3 from where it was consistently hovering.
Still feel pretty lousy---I think this is one of those lingering things like you had, JoAnne! DH was so, so bad last night---I set up the treatment for him in case he needed it in the night. He may have to seek medical care---but he has to decide that.
I've made coffee for three days---something I rarely do as DH is the coffee maker in the house. Of course there's no brains involved when the grinder premeasures for me and the coffee maker takes over once I push the button---still, amazing what you do in "crisis", as I told DH---he laughed which brought on a total wheezing attack! Laughing doesn't work with this stuff!

Hi!
Housekeeper day, so went to the gym this morning. First Tues to do that in a while since I had been going to my internship on Tues mornings for the past 2 months.
Jojo, that's a lot of money to fix the sun roof! What would cause it to warp? Strange.
Joan, hope your DH gets better soon. Great job on no sugar! SO gets up earlier than me so he usually ends up making the coffee every morning.
Holly, I think there are lotions you can use to help with more rapid healing, I think there is something called Mederma.
Going in to school a little earlier today so I can make the ice cream in my dessert class chef's class room. Only the baking/pastry/dessert class rooms have ice cream makers. I'm hoping to make enough for next week too so that would be one less thing for me to do next week.
Just sauteed some beef for SO for tonight. He went for a follow up with the eye dr this morning and everything is fine. But now, he's complaining that he can't see things up close (he needs readers now). Well the dr did warn him of that. Now he's deliberating whether he wants the surgery on his other eye, so that eye could be used for reading.

Glad the surgery went well, Sue. Did they think he eye correction would last? DD's lasted about 3 years or 4---now she has to wear glasses again---they are, of course, way weaker than before but still cannot see 20/20 without them. My dr. Didn't want to do the lasix surgery on me because he said mine would go back to needing glasses too. Maybe the cataract type surgery they do is more permanent?
Must have been so nice not to have to be at work running ragged the past two days! Glad you got time for the gym again. Although I think your work sounded pretty aerobic!
I took Jordan to the orthodontist---this is at a dental place that only does medicaid--oh wow, it was so much better than the one place we went before (Jordan went back there last week and had two fillings and they burned his lip when they spilled a bit of the white coating they use instead of the silver stuff on his lip) which was like stepping into such a depressing situation---even Jordan said today he felt like we were doing something awful in a back alley there. But this place today is neat and clean and more modern--and the people were beyond wonderful to him--no sense of put down, no suspicious attitude--just awesome. And we found out he can go there for regular dental as well--so we are switching---he has so much work to be done and we must hurry because they will take his coverage away with the repeal and we want all his work done. He needs extractions of dead teeth, fillings, a crown or possibly two and he badly needs braces but the teeth aren't bad enough to give him the 26 points needed for medicaid to cover braces and it's all or nothing. So I texted DH and asked if I could do it---he's so awesome--he said yes. I got such a good deal by starting the process today--$4000 instead of $6750 (it would be 10,000 if it weren't a sliding scale)--I will pay over two years and he should be done by then---which would coincide with the repeal if I understand it right. Of course, most of the medicaid covered part should be done quite a while before the braces so we may make it. I so appreciate DH at times like this--how many men would agree--there's lots of things he could make a case for for the money---but he knows this kid deserves to look good and feel good about himself and his teeth are so bad--but he's really a good looking kid! So I am excited. I told Jordan all I want in return is continued good grades so we can get him a full scholarship. NV offers full ride scholarships to high level straight A kids into NV schools. After the dentist appt. we went together to IHOP--he was starving as it took a long time and he had no snack---it is International Pancake Day so we both ordered pancakes (free today) and he ate mine and his and 4 sausages and hashbrowns---oh to have the metabolism of a 16 year old boy!! I take him back to dentist next Tuesday to start fillings. Love my husband so much!

Joan - so sorry to hear that you and your DH are not better and the "respiratory thing" is lingering. It is wicked! Yes I do use the sunroof a good bit, especially while traveling. They tried to just get it closed so that I could get by without using it but it popped back open. So no choice but to get it fixed. You are so sweet to do the braces for Jorden.
Today went to pick up my taxes. Got a few dollars back from Federal and the $400 that I always get back from the State. Whatever is better than the paying that I did last year.
I have just finished the "box" that we are doing for church project for older Seniors that are debilitated, live alone, and need help. We are filling a large box with canned goods, adult diapers, and ensure. Delivered it to the church today.
Sue - I watched a cooking program yesterday on iron skillet cooking. I think I'm going to try somethings starting tomorrow. I haven't used my iron skillet much in the past. I am really enjoying getting into watching some of these cooking shows lately. They give you some good ideas for meal prep. Are there any that you would particularly recommend?
Tonight going to see Hacksaw Ridge.
Beautiful day here. Need to take a walk!

Hi all,
I really wish I could just get away from this town for awhile. Need to plan a trip to Chapel Hill soon. I have a conference in Baltimore in a couple of weeks, but it will be work related.
Really enjoying having the bike to use at home.
Sue, I have some Mederma. I've used it a couple of times.
Joan, sounds like a good plan. I hope he'll be able to get the scholarship!
JoJo, I need to get mine together. I have a day off for Spring Break on Monday, so I can take it over then.

I did the gym--medium yoga and sit and fit--the latter turned out to be pretty intense as she was doing 30 min of aerobic warm up and it was modified kick boxing moves for seniors---very exhausting after no work out for 10 days! But I did it and the weights were fine. Then I took DH to the doctor---they are calling his bronchitis and claim he doesn't have asthma going on---so do not need to continue breathing treatments---he actually had not had one this morning---the past two mornings he would have been hard put to calm his breathing down without them. But he's now going on prednisone and that will manage the lungs quickly. He cannot talk without stimulating a total coughing spasm and then a breathing issue.
I got my Zenni Optical glasses today and I love them---red face frame and black bows---I think they are really cute.
Thanks for reminder about the taxes---forgot I was committed to getting that going!
Finished The Handmaid's Tale last night late in bed---Dh is in guest room---I didn't sleep well---woke up again at 3:30 am, then at 6 and finally got out of bed at 6:30. So I think tonight I will be pretty tired and sleep well. I can tell I have enough prednisone in me to feel side effects now---only a few more days and it's only 10 mg a day now.
Now they called to say DH's prescription wasn't charged to insurance so they have to redo it---why?? And it will take an hour and a half? Wow they must be slammed down there if that's the case. I'm going to just pick up some panera's tonight--DH request--and guess I'll have to go down later and get it. He can't take it till after eating anyway.
Sue how is SO doing with the eye?
Holly, what is your frustration with the town? Just feeling cooped up?
It was so good to talk with gym friends again---wow, I don't do well without any social contacts!

Good morning Goddesses! Another beautiful Spring like day here. Saw Hacksaw Ridge last night. An amazing story (true) and very emotional! Came out feeling very drained -- but truly blessed to know that one man had the strength of Sampson to do what he did. Had to close my eyes through some of the graphic war stuff - but a great movie- would recommend.
Exercises done. Cut back a little on my reps which I had increased. Was feeling it last night with my leg in bed - probably over did it. I am seeing some results in my arm "w/o 's" and my "love handles" but a way to go. Feel I sould do these e etcises for the rest of my life!

Hi! Quick post, busy with school. Had 24 covers last night. Dessert station is kind of easy because it's just assembling everything, no cooking.
