Another week. Time flies. Babysitting today- Dh has both kids watching a single TV show before I put DGD#2 in for her am nap. I went for routine bloodwork this am (enroute here). And finally got the courage to weigh myself this am. Think I am down .3. I do have to try to make a more focused effort to watch what I eat.
Chatting with you ladies is probably about the closest I will get to crafting today. I brought my pillowcase to work on, but do not have my glasses with me, they are home. I cannot imagine how bad the pillowcase would look if I worked on it without glasses. I am lucky (actually you are lucky) that I can post at all, all credit goes to autocorrect.
Hoping to get to study group this evening, so it promises to be a long day. Ginny

Hello all. We're sitting here visiting but I thought I'd stop in and say hey. DS fixed our chest freezer!!!! At least we think it's fixed. It's running but we need to wait awhile to see if it gets cold enough. I hope it does work. We need the space.
I hope you're having a good day. Ginny, sounds like your's is busy as usual.
I have been making a lot of hats while sitting and talking.
Well gonna go see you later. Ds is occupied right now with people at work calling him for advice on some problem they're having.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Sue - What a wonderful person your friend was, I'm glad you had the chance to know her. Ginny - I saw some pretty embroidered pillow cases on Kathy's quilt blog yesterday, though you might like to see them: kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2019/09/slow-sunday-stitching_15.htmlRuth - Sounds like the visit is going well and how great if your DS has fixed your freezer. It's warm here today, around 90 an humid again. I went out earlier and ran errands and did some grocery shopping. The rest of the week is supposed to be cooler. I need to call the fence company and see if I can set up an appointment this week or next. I'm pretty sure they will give me a free estimate of the work. I want that so I can think it over. I walked in the yard where the accident was and there is one pretty deep rut in the grass that is bad. I may just wait to see if the grass will grow in because I wouldn't want to bother with sod. I've decided to take the hand quilting class and went out and bought the rest of the supplies today. I'll be going to the shop this week to register for the class, hopefully there will still be an opening. I ended up buying one of the Dritz heavy plastic 14 inch quilting hoops since I got it for 80% off I probably want use it much since I like my wooden 12 inch hoop better, but it was a good deal. Take care everyone!

CJ, it sure sounds as though you got a great deal on that hoop. I'm glad you decided to take the class. I think you'll like it and I do hope you do. Yes all companies should give a free estimate. Sorry it's so hot and humid there. Here on Friday it's only going to be 66 for the high.
Well ds was able to get the motor working on the freezer but the freon must be gone because it's not getting even the slightest bit cooler. I'm disappointed but never actually expected it to ever work again. Guess I'll just buy a new one sometime. I have an upright freezer but I really liked my chest freezer.
I agree, Sue's friend must have been a very special person.

Hey Phyl, welcome back!!!!! Sounds like you had a lot of fun. How neat that they invited you back for next year. I think making it an annual trip would be a lot of fun! Yup, we all could have guessed that Nita should have seen the therapist earlier....glad she went, nonetheless .
CJ- well I am curious if your insurance settlement covered the damage- which I hope it does! I am so very happy that you signed up for the class (call before you drive there to make sure there is an opening!!) Sounds like a lot of fun and something new to learn. Love it that you got all the supplies on sale. And yes, any company should be able to provide a free estimate. Perhaps do you have the name of the original installer? You might be able to get an even better deal through that firm.
Ruth, nice to have a son who is handy!!! At least now you know that the freezer is indeed “dead” unless you want to have it recharged with refrigerant. (Depending on the age, that might not be possible). The Chest freezers are nice, and a bit more energy efficient than uprights.
Ok, someone PLEASE break into my house and discard the Herschenerrs catalog!! Too much nice fall stuff....(Hey CJ, loved the pillowcases on slow stitch Sunday). Oh the sane and rational person will take over and I will just look at the catalog tonight and dream. But its got some lovely fall decor. I called the LQS and had them cut the fabric I still need for the border, and I paid for it with a credit card. That way if my friend gets there this week, she can pick it up for me and I am not causing her any hardship.
DGD finally fell asleep. Time to straighten up. Ginny

Hello Crafters Phyl - Sounds like you had a lovely time on the retreat, I'm glad you were able to go. Ruth - Sorry the chest freezer still doesn't work. I wouldn't mind having one of those if I had room. Ginny - I always see bunches of stuff I want in the crafting catalogs. I'm glad you were able to get some of the fabric you need. I hope the payout I received will cover the new fences, I'll see once I get someone here for an estimate. I went up to the quilt shop today where the class is being held next month and signed up for the class. My relative who goes to the Amish Market rode with me. Now I feel comfortable about the drive up there and back, so I'll be fine doing it myself. It's a nice shop, very uncluttered and the classroom is bright and spacious, so I think it will be fun to have a class there. They had some beautiful quilts hanging on the wall too. And their room with the longarm quilting machines is also well lit and big. If they weren't so far away I'd love to take their class to use the longarms and then go up there and rent them. It's a bit cooler here today and didn't seem as humid, so that's nice. I've had to get up early the last two mornings, so I'm looking forward to sleeping later tomorrow Take care everyone!

Phyl, welcome back. It sounds as though you had a great time there meeting new people and seeing new places. I'm glad to hear that you also got there and back home safely
CJ, I saw on the weather channel that your area was supposed to be cooler and thought of you right away. I hope you can get a good estimate on your fence and the yard damage you noticed. I'm glad too that you were able to have a family member go with you to the quilt shop so that you would know exactly where it is and how long it takes to get there. It sounds like that shop is a great place for classes.
Ginny, I hope you had a good day with your dgd and are enjoying your evening. Also that ;you were able to order the fabric so that your friend can bring it to you. I bet you're looking forward to seeing the completed quilt. What a great skill to be able to make a whole quilt.
Ds did some more things for us today both computer things and fixing things. He "helped" my dh tear off the old porch in the back that was actually in pretty bad shape...Dh helped by watching. Then ds and I went for a walk. The wind was terrible though and was blowing against us as we walked up a hill so it was great exercise but proved to me that I need more exercise and more conditioning. I was out of breath in no time.We turned and started back home but then by walking the other way from the wind we were able to walk a little more.
Have a great evening everyone

CJ- so very glad you are now signed up for that class!! Is the quilt shop that far a drive from you? I understand what a pain it is going for along drive to a quilt shop, THe shop I use is 45 - 50 minutes, and I do find myself tired of the drive, unless I combine errands with it. A nice bright cheery classroom sounds perfect for class. Perhaps taking a long arm class is in your future, think it would be fun for you!! Have you made contact with a contractor for your fence repair? I am sure you will feel better after that id done, and not something that bothers you to look at.
Ruth, sounds like you are really enjoying this time with Ds!! Glad you got out for a nice walk with him, yesterday too much wind sure can make it challenging. How nice of Dh “helping” Ds tear off the old porch! Ha ha ha. My mom used to help that way- and would talk my head off about how she was going th actually do somthing to help. I am sure for you and Dh it’s just a blessing and joy having Ds there. Just so good that he is able to visit you and help out.
Gotta go.....BBL Ginny

Hi everyone.
Ginny, I meant to say the other day that Herrschnerr's sends me email and they often have free or flat rate shipping. At Christmas time they have free shipping in the catalogue. Otherwise I really hate their shipping rates that are based on the amount you buy. I usually keep the catalogues that have something I'm interested in buying and mark the page and when I get an email with the reduced or free shipping I check online to see if that item is still onsale and order it then. They do have some good bargains at times. Then sometimes they claim a certain thing is on sale but if you've dealt with them a lot you know that's not really true.
Ds just told me that his daughter that will have a birthday in Nov loves scarves, infinity, regular and cowls. She's one of the ones that I made the v scarf for so now I know for sure that she will like it. I'm going to make her a couple more infinity scarves too now that I know for sure that she does like them
I hope that all are having a good day. We're going out soon to eat at Pizza Ranch. I used to really pig out at places like that...pizza and chicken buffet...but no longer can I eat that much at a time.I rarely have their desserts. They really don't have any good ones but sometimes I use the ice cream to make a float.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I'm glad you are enjoying the visit with your DS and that he's been helping you and your DH out. I would sure love to go for a walk with my mother, I'm glad you and your DS were able to do that. Ginny - The quilt store is about 40 miles from my house, and can take about 45-60 minutes for me too. There are several highways I have to drive on to get there. Having my class on a Sunday will help with traffic, but I saw that football game is being held that afternoon and I have to drive right by the stadium area about the time the game is over, so I don't know what traffic will be like coming home. I figure I'll have enough time to be home before dark and that's my biggest concern. The weather here is very nice today, in the 70s and sunny. I've had the windows open all day. I need to go out and get the mail, but I really don't want to. But then I think about leaving it out there and someone knocking down my mailbox and my mail going all over the place - so I'll make myself go out I updated a list I'd made last year of all the gift cards I have to use. I get a lot of them for birthday and Christmas gifts since nobody seems to know what else I would like. I'm not complaining, because many of them are useful, but some that I get I will probably never use. I have almost $60 (combined) in Starbucks and Subway cards. I got burned out on Subway several years ago and I only drink coffee when it's in a cold mocha drink, like a frappe. I have bought Hot Chocolate at Starbucks, so I need to get that again when it gets colder. I've tried to drop hints that an Amazon gift card is the best gift for me now, since I buy so many books for my Kindle. I'm thankful that I have family and friends that think enough of me to get me a gift, although I always tell them to spend the money on the rest of the family since I really don't need anything It was nice to stay home today after going out the last two days. Take care everyone!

CJ, if you really think that you don't want to use the giftcards there are places you can donate them that would appreciate your generosity. My dh and ds and I were talking about gifts for mail carriers and I bet he gets a lot of both Starbucks and Subway cards and I have a feeling that he doesn't drink coffee or eat subs. He just seems like a person that eats healthy and avoids caffeine.
BB soon. gotta go look something up
