No going to Curves today. My dog has decided it's too cold to stay outside and we can't leave her in with our cat by herself so I sent DH to buy groceries and get weather stripping for our front door.My fingers are frozen as I type.

I raced out the door this morning and didn't get to say "hi" to all! It was 27 here this morning but sunny with no wind so all is good. I took the 2 grand kids shopping this morning to buy Christmas presents for their parents and Pop (my DH) Boy, was that a blast! DGD(9) and DGS(7) had some great ideas and we hit Bass Pro, book store and Charming Charlies and got lots of goodies for them and their dog. They had been doing jobs around my house (dusting, vacuuming, etc.) to earn money and so they got to "pay" for the presents. We just got home and they are busy wrapping things up. They even managed to sneak in some presents for each other! I think it really put us all in the Christmas spirit! ksbruns 64? Why, you're just a baby! Next year you can go on Medicare and then all the mail comes for planning for your final days, cremation, hoverchairs and constipation meds! LOL!! Seriously, though, I hope you have a great birthday!

Thanks for the earworm Kathy. Happy Birthday & what Linda said. Some days just opening my mail makes me feel 10 years older.
Did a little shopping this morning. I just can't get the holiday spirit mojo going. First Christmas without my Mother so that's probably the reason. It's weird, I feel'overwhelmed but I really don't have much to,do.
Wednesday is the winter solstice so after that we get a little more daylight every day. 😎

sullicat1 The first year without a loved one is very hard. It does get easier but it never goes away. Making new memories sometimes helps and sometimes doing something that reminds you of the loved one helps. Sometimes that helped me and sometimes it made things worse. Bottom line is every year is different and sometimes you'll do fine and other times it just doesn't feel right. You just have to live with it. Good luck. (((Hugs))).

Happy Monday to all.
A very bitter cold day here, but is supposed to warm up for the rest of the week. Washed the the fake wood white blinds on our 2 kitchen windows, this weekend. Were they filthy! Guess having everyone over Christmas day is a good motivator. Wrapped some presents today, will finish shopping tomorrow. Wed. I will make the crock pot candy, always a favorite.
Happy Birthday Kathy! Hope you have a warm and special day.
I still miss my mom, especially around Christmas, since that is one of the holidays she went all out for. (she passed in 02)

ksbruns Happy, happy birthday! Only 64? You are a youngster ! Lovely song! Remember when it came out and I used to think that's sooo old! It's NOT!! cyndee Waving at you from the other side of the bridge! I'm assuming you're at Wills Eye. I've spent many a day there-- a visit last hours that's for sure. But for eye issues that's where you want to be. I've had retinal surgery done there twice. Hope your hubby has a good appointment. Too bad it's not closer to Macy's (always will be Wanamaker's to me) for a walk to see the light show and the nearby Christmas village. Made it to the pool and gym in spite of the bitter cold temperatures this morning. I need to do a little baking and wrapping later so everything doesn't pile up for the end of the week. We're still in slow motion here (viewing for SIL is Thursday, funeral on Friday). Sort of feel like the air has been sucked out of the room.

I'm on vacation and have been busy, got the oil changed in the car and have been wrapping presents. Was going to see the movie A Man Called Ove, but it's not in our theaters here. So my friend and are going out to dinner and taking our daughters. Happy bday ksbruns, you're a spring chicken! Hope we get our stuff wrapped before Christmas, lol

Pat- I'm sorry to hear your SIL passed.
Sullicat- I'm sorry to hear this is the first Christmas without your mom. It's the 4th without my dad and 2nd without my mother in law (who I adored). But you did make my day when you said it's the Solstice on Wed and we get a little more daylight every day after that! I just can not take this getting pitch black at 4:30. Makes me think I should be in bed by 5:00.
DH and I were out shopping all weekend. So Sunday we stopped into a nice place for a cocktail before going home. We actually got there right as they opened at 4:00. We had two cocktails, some munchies and were done by 6:30. It was a wonderful night, we really didn't need supper because we had a late lunch. But I felt like it was 10:00 and we had been out "so late" because it was totally dark at 6:30. I just had an awful time.

Sullicat1 ((hugs)) Missing mom over the holidays is always the hardest. ( This is our 6th Christmas without my Mom). It was always such a special holiday to her and traveling to Massachusetts to be with my folks was always a part of our holiday. Learning to make new traditions was difficult. That's one of the reasons I enjoy putting up my village that was once hers.
It will get easier with time...be gentle with yourself.

Finally getting back here. Busy at work today with unusual things so glad to be home. Walked back to work from lunch and home again. Took an extra little walk after I got here. Trying to make up for few steps the last two days with the back issues. Twingy but ready to rest it some so hoping it stays on the upswing.
Hugs out to Pat and Sulli...this can be a hard time of the year.
Hoping everyone is staying warm. We hit 38 this afternoon and the sun is out so it is a pleasant winter day with gloves and a coat on.
Hope everyone is getting those gifts, wrapping, and cookies etc. done. I am caught up until some groceries, cleaning, and a little cooking for guests on Christmas Eve.
