Sorry you are feeling a bit like some rain is headed your way, Sue. You had a busy day....got lots done it sounds like. Good advice regarding the trust. That is why I mentioned that the best thing to do was see what was needed for the state that Ruth and her Dh might be moving to. It can be complicated to keep things in order.

I started posting earlier but then dh came up again from his searching for properties online so I didn't finish it. It would have been better becxause I wouldn't have had to open a second copy of this thread but oh well.
I didn't know that any states required a trust. I've thought of trusts but thought a will would do. I just want a durable power of attorney for healthcare for here so that if we happen to be in an accident or suffer some catastrophic medical event before we move that each of us would have complete legal rights to decide things for one another in case the doctors do what that one I mentioned to Phyl yesterday did.Even though it will be a couple years before we actually move I'll wait until then to do the will/trust so that I comply with the rules of the state I'm in. Ds lives at the Indiana/Kentucky border so we might actually end up in Kentucky. One of my brothers lived in Kentucky for awhile but it was in southeast Ky. He was pastor of a church there and my son lived in Ky when he was in the Army.
Ginny, I'm sure sorry to hear all the grandchildren are sick and I hope neither you nor your dh catch either of those things from the grands. The table runner sounds very nice.I may have to tryone of those.
I called one realtor today about a specific house. She told me she would call me back in 30 minutes...those were her words. She hasn't called back at all. I don't really care because I hate the looks of the house anyway but dh was interested because it was cheap...well it's cheap for a reason. I think I got him back on track and now he's looking at some near lakes so he can fish which is a great idea.
CJ I am sure happy the fence people were able to give you the while fence as well as carting things away, working on the chain link one and that you still have money left to get someone to take away the heavy things you are unable to dispose of yourself. Sounds like a win win to me
Sue I don't see any 20's predicted for here for during the nights to come soon but I haven't looked at the forecast map so I'm going to do that now.
My tomato plants have bit the dust so I'm going to pick all the tomatoes left on the plants tomorrow and pull the plants out. They look terrible.
I'm almost done with the scarf I was working on. Now only 4 more to make I think. Then I'll do the finishing work on the other things and start working on the Christmas things for the great grands and I'll be done with birthdays and Christmas for 2019.Then the plan is to start the afgan for ds and ddil and make more hats to donate. The crochet along is over and the last hat pattern is not one I want to make so will just do my favorites.
Phyl, dh and I aren't ready for an apartment or condo yet. Sometimes we might consider that but not at this time but we have thought about it for the future.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It's a bit warmer here today. I'm ready for temperatures in the 70s all the time I went outside this morning and cut back all the weeds (small bushes) that were growing out of the holly tree and around the split rail fence that will be replaced. It took me over an hour to do that and then I had to cut them up into smaller pieces so I could put them in the tall brown bags for yard refuse. We have to use those in my county. Took me about 2 hours total but I finished it and think the fencing workers should be O.K. working in that area. Fortunately it's only about 10-12 feet that the holly tree is around. There are just so many weeds and vines growing in the poor holly tree. I tried to keep up with cutting them out, but it's a losing battle. If I was going to stay here for several more years, I'd just cut the tree down. I remember it when my father planted it and it was about 3-4 feet high and now it's probably over 20 feet high and maybe 12 feet across. At least we got to enjoy it for a lot of years before. I did some other things around the house after that so I'm pretty much exhausted. I taped a few shows last night - This Is Us and New Amsterdam, so I'll watch them today. I've been watching the PBS Country Music series and it's a really great show. Tonight is the last night but I'm sure they'll replay it in case you want to see it and missed it. Take care everyone!

Speaking of country music I have a question for you ladies. I have a large collection of Merle Haggard cd's and even cassette tapes and I have a few of some other country artists..not many and mostly Conway Twitty but I never listen to music anymore so I want to get rid of them. If you know anyone, I am willing to give these to them if they will pay shipping. I'd get them together and see what one of the flatrate boxes they fit in that that's what I would need them to pay.
I started the next v scarf but barely and don't even have the chain done yet. It's 282 stitches and dh woke up when I was on stitch 200. I'll work in it this evening if I have a chance. I did go thru my file cabinet and weeded out unneeded paperwork...some to toss, some to burn. And then went thru some dresser drawers and tossed some things and put others into the donation bag.
CJ, sounds like you did a huge amount of work today. Yes you must be exhausted but also happy about accomplishing that. I bet weeds grow really well there. Your holly tree sounds like our Blue Spruce. We planted it as a small twig that didn't even look like it would survive but it,too,, is very tall now. I'm not good at estimating distances or heights so I couldn't say but it's tall.
I'm looking forward to hearing from the others this evening and I hope you're all having a good day.

Good evening!
CJ- sounds like you worked hard today- but I bet its a good feeling knowing now that your fence can be rebuilt/restored and the place will look great. Do you have a possible start date for your contractor to work on the repair? Bet tonight you are enjoying those programs that you recorded, a nice reward for a hard days work. Funny the requirements that each jurisdiction has for brush removal. In my town it has to be taken to a drop off site- where I guess they chip everything that comes in. My mom’s town, all brush had to be cut into pieces 18 inches long and bundled. you have to use brown bags. WOnder who comes up with these crazy regulations!! Enjoy your evening and shows. Hope you are not sore tomorrow.
Ruth, well that does not surprise me that the realtor did not return your call. SOmetimes they are like that- just too busy for their own good and too busy to bother with you. What a shame. And you are right, there must be something really wrong with that house. Too bad that the tomato season is over. Its almost done here too. We start these plants in the springs with high hopes......and then, inevitably it all fizzles out in the end. We are still getting a few tomatoes, but I do not know what to do with them. Dh has enjoyed them a lot....but we do not have enough to can. I would think that the DPOA could be done now, which affords some of the legal protection you need. I wonder if that is a universal form (the form used when I needed it for my mom was universal, and super easy to complete).
So, I taught today - 4 solid hours of non stop teaching. My voice is tired- but got the job done. Then Dh and I ran some errands. After dinner, I went for a walk with my friend, we needed to catch up. It was good to see her. I did get a few minutes getting my quilting supplies organized- so for now that will have to count as my crafting for the day. Tomorrow is busy also, got a few errands to run in the early am, then DGD#2 comes here for the day. She is usually a lot of fun- and I look forward to seeing her. One of my errands tomorrow is to get to the library to get the book I ordered.....the new one from the author I like. I will have some good and pleasant reading for the next week or so!
Have a good night all Ginny

It's always nice to have a good book by an author you enjoy. I'm having trouble finding books that I want to read.
It's very cool here today and next week we may even have snow they say so I'm not looking forward to that. I hope you get some nice Indian summer days in the middle of October.
That real estate agent never called me back at all even with two days having passed. She may have written my number down wrong or something but even that indicates to me that she is not one I want to work with. We're not interested in that particular house anymore anyway so it's a moot point but I won't be working with her on our new choice.
I did finish the chain for the next scarf. Now to do the first row and find out for sure whether or not I have the correct number of stitches. It's very hard to count them in a chain so I usually just go ahead and do the first row and hope for the best and improvise if I have to by increasing or decreasing. Only a super expert would be able to tell that you did that I'm sure.
Today will be going to the bank, more work on weeding out our clutter and more crocheting. As time gets closer to our move I'm afraid crocheting is going to be infrequent.

GOSH DARN IT HAD A VERY LONG POST AND LOST IT.#$%^&*(
SO WILL SAY I AM DOING FINE.STOPPED AT JOANN'S YESTERDAY .BOUGHT SOME WIDE BACKING, SO MAYBE I CAN GET SOME BABY QUILTS DONE SOON..
THIS SATURDAY WE WILL GO TO JIM AND THERESA'S. SUNDAY WE WILL GOT TO THE TOWN WHERE DON'S OLDEST BROTHER LIVES AND GO THE HIS 90 BIRTHDAY PARTY.
YOU WILL PROBABLY NOT SEE ME TILL MONDAY.
TODAY I LEFT THE HOUSE TO SHOP FOR A NEW PAIR OF JEANS. LEFT LIKE BEFORE 9AM. AFTER LUNCH WENT TO THE DRESSBARN. HAVE NOT BOUGHT ANYTHING IN THAT STORE SINCE THEY CAME HERE.
SHE ASKED ME IF i Would be interested in a job for the holiday? the store is closing Dec28th. they need help with the closing. told her I could only do maybe 4 hours. she said that's what it would be.
thinks I will pass .looking at my calendar to many appointments in OCT.all over 600 stores will be closing.
sorry to see more stores closing. but in a way the stores have done it to themselves by offering so much online shopping. I can see it for folks living in the country or 20 miles or more from town. I will shut up now cause I know I will get slack. i got board shoulders. makes it hard for us who like to look feel and try on.
I WAS LOOKING FOR A NEW TOP.good grief every top I looked at has 97 percent polyster, certain percent of of rayon and spanex. I would roast in that fabric. tried some on you would think I was 9 months pregant.also feels clingy to the body or calmy.
so will be checking what
thinking of getting out my barn pattern and see what see what I need for back ground fabric.
oh Christoper and Bank is now carrying pioneer woman tops. they are made in Cambodia. shame on you REE.

Phyl, you sound awfully busy to me....glad you turned down that job offer. And I agree, it would sure be nice if some of these big names would make their products here. I too am tired of “made in Vietnam”- or china or whereever.
Ruth, almost makes it sounds as though you might be moving soon. Do you have a timeframe??
Ran some errands very early this am- then got back in time to babysit DGD. My quilting buddy shared with me the pictures of her quilt, which she is getting ready to put the sashing on. Looks so nice and I love how she has laid out the blocks. She had borrowed my 12 1/2 inch square ruler and rotating mat, which I got back this am. Now I can trim up my squares and get busy on assembly too. So I guess chatting with her today was my crafting time. Hopefully I should be able to take some time to work on my embroidery tomorrow.
Have a good night all Ginny

MORNING, I really would not call it a job offer. think they are just letting customers know they need help.I would have to talk one of the other ladies first.my intent was to clean. have not started. did get two loads of laundry done.
have some errands to do after lunch.
Ruth I don't think to many people play tapes anymore. it is either cd's, something to do with blue tooth and a whole other new types of devices now days. they don't even put cd players in the new cars now.
do you have some type of little type of local paper (not the real newspaper)
you put ad in saying free cd's and tapes.? you might get some takers.as DON'S mom would say you never know who is looking for what.phyl.

Good evening, Just another busy day for me.....
CJ- you mean you do not like temperatures of minus 40????Hope that you got your weather station going with that new battery. Oh no....sorry about the heat! Is it supposed to be in the 80’s all week? Yuck/. Love that inside out wall hanging. MSQ sure comes up with the most adorable ideas. Have you gotten anywhere on the mason jar quilt?
Phyl- did you get the errands and the laundry done? And Don is right, you never know what others want. One mans trash is another mans treasure.
Got some embroidery done today...so peaceful to do that.
Take care all Ginny

Thank you CJ. my son has friends that are real estate agents but they're not licensed to sell where I want to buy. Phyl, I saw awhile back that we had a Dress Barn here but I've never been in it since it's on the ohter side of town and I don't need clothes anyway. Couldn't tell you if it's still there or not.I haven't been to Christopher and Banks in about...well at least 10 years. They used to have great clearance things. I don't know if they're still open here either or not.First one I saw was in the Mall of America and then I found out we had one here. One of the things I like about them too was that their sizes run very large so you can fit into a much smaller size and pretend you're really slim From what I saw back then with the sizing I don't know if they'd have a size for me now No I knew that people have these other devices to listen to music. I don't know either what they're even called. I have a lot of cassette tapes left over from the old days and I actually still have cassette players and even one that still records on cassettes. Two of my vehicles have cassette . players that also play cd's but,as I said, I don't use any of them. My new car which is a 19 does still have a cd player. There still are people that collect cd and even cassettes as a novelty.I used to have a lot of George Strait cd's...gave them all to one of my patients when I was still working.I'm going to donate these to the Rescue Mission store.People here are still buying video tapes from GW and the rescue mission store and Marm on the lifetimer's thread does also.We have a lot of those too which I never watch

Gee, there is a movement that even is bringing back records! Cannot imagine getting into that, and I do like the clarity of CD’s and digital music. Ruth perhaps a local realtor who you trust might be able to suggest an agency to help. But with Ds not terribly far....well that will help a bit. I have a friend who purchased a home in Az sight unseen (other than pics on the internet) and she was burned. The house was riddled with problems. Long story short she sold it shortly after that and returned to Florida. Hope that you and Dh can find something nice that works for you and is affordable. I have no idea what property values are like in that area- the only area I know property values for are the overpriced ones in my home area. Think its pricey where CJ is too. Not a good day for crafting, but I did get to look at a lovely book on quilting. Almost purchased it, but do I need another book of projects that I cannot complete? Don’t think so. Nice to dream however. Phyl- hope you get that cleaning done whenever. Sue- do you have snow?? CJ- stay cool- I keep hearing about heat in the south. Ginny

Ginny, I did that back in 2004..purchased that "fishing shack" in Arkansas sight unseen. However it didn't cost much,we enjoyed it after painting, etc. There were issues but we sold it several years later with no problem. Many people were asking to buy it from us from the time we bought it. Don't know if you ever saw the commercial on tv where the person steps out of their home and yells "I"m selling my house" and people flock to buy it from him.It was pretty much like that but we didn't even have to go out and yell. We were lucky. It was God's work actually.
