Quiet here so far today! Got about 2/3 of the way done squaring off my blocks to get them ready to put together with the center star. I will not get to that this week, but hope to finish getting them all set - and will work on the sashing next week. My quilting buddy has gotten hers almost done and it looks amazing! Hope mine comes out close to as well.
BBL to see who checks in Ginny

I guess I forgot that it's Monday again already. Time seems to fly nowdays. It's fairly cold here today. Got down to below 40 during the night and It's still not all that warm.
We're still looking online at new home possibilities in Northwestern Ky. Some of the houses are certainly interesting.
I'm working on the hat that I started with the waistcoat stitch. It makes for a nice thick stitch that should make the hat pretty warm but it's going a little slower since I'm not used to the stitch. I really like the ones that they do where they put in a word such as "coffee". Those seem to be very popular right now. I want to make one of those for my ds' oldest daughter that says chocolate because one of of her favorite things when she was here was to make a cup of hot chocolate and sit out on the deck drinking it and reading. I'm going to start another scarf today since I didn't do it yesterday after all. I did some more downsizing instead getting things to donate gathered and tossing some other things. I'll work on that again today too
Have any of you heard of the new Red Heart yarn that heats up when you're outdoors?
Ginny, it sounds like you're making good progress on your quilt and your quilting buddy is really getting far on hers.

Ruth, you do find the most interesting things- no I have never heard of RH yarn that heats up when you are outdoors! Wonder how that works!! You have been on a steady course of reorganizing and downsizing in the last few years. So making an even greater effort to do so should be not too difficult for you. Even if you do not move, it will be liberating to have downsized some. What a cool idea making a hat with “chocolate” in the name for DGD! She is a senior in high school now? I can imagine that she will need all kinds of extra things if she goes away for college.
Kind of hot here. When is fall arriving??
Back to my blocks. Ginny

Yes she is a senior now. I have two grandaughters that are seniors. The one decided to quit school but quickly found that she needed to go back so she will graduate this year too.So this year will be costly for me...two graduations, one wedding...well at least ...I don't know if the other three that have serious relationships will marry or not. WEll fall will come sooner or later. Just think how much you're going to enjoy it when you finally find it That is if it doesn't become winter before fall even get here. They're saying now that we might get snow tomorrow but then it's going to warm up to over 60 later in the week

Hello Crafters Ruth - That yarn sounds interesting, I'll have to look at it on the Internet. Some days I spend a lot of time looking at houses for sale, it is eye-opening. I hope that you will find something that's right for you. Ginny - Sounds like you are moving along with your quilt blocks, hope you get to keep working on them so you'll be ready for the sashing. We had some rain here this morning, the first in many weeks, and it's been cloudy and cooler all day. We're supposed to have one day this week in the 90s and then it drops to the 70s. I'm looking forward to that. We were talking about recording shows. I don't have a DVR and I can't record from my cable boxes. I have an older VCR and I was using that a lot to record shows, but with my new cable boxes it will only work if I record when the show is on (with the TV on). That works O.K. when I have two shows coming on a 9 PM at night since I can watch TV in one room and record in the other, but doesn't work for something that is coming on when I'm not home. The On Demand on my cable boxes doesn't work either. I'd have to have someone come to the house to check on that and I don't want to bother with it. I can watch some shows on my computer by going through my cable account, so that works sometimes. I figure if I miss something it really wasn't that important I had a funny dream the other night - I was picking out fabrics for a quilt. I had a focus fabric (that was a really ugly mix of colors) and I was able to find 3 other fabrics that went with it. Too bad I didn't make the quilt in my dream Take care everyone!

CJ, well your dream would be more like a nightmare if you were not able to find fabrics that went with your focus fabric! Perhaps if you move you can get the cable system setup just so, so you can DVR shows. Watching shows on the computer is ok, but not as enjoyable as using a TV.

morning,or should I say afternoon? well it will be here in 34 minutes. we got back yesterday about noon. ate lunch, off to pt..
did not go to sit and sew today.Nita is still having problems.she says when the groin feels ok then the hip and knee bugs her.yep it is a combination of things not just he pulled groin .wish I could get her to go to my pt.zack is really good.
over the weekend I lost my diabetic tester kit. I must have lost it at mcd's in Abbortferd's wi. THERESA WANTED SOMETHING TO EAT ALONG THE WAY ,WE HAD A EARLY BREAKFAST. I SWEAR ALL SHE THINKS ABOUT ANYMORE IS FOOD.
the party was wonderful. we started out at 11 with a mass. we were all there when Dick walked in.THE PRIEST GAVE HIM A SPECIAL BLESSING.
THE FOOD WAS GREAT.A table of cupcakes, white and chocolate cake and a ho ho cake. tastes just like when we buy ho ho's.
dick and his first wife had nine kids.now take the 9 kids, spouses, their kids, grand kids, great grand kids that is one big clan of our family. the last name sure isn't going to die out.that is just dick's family.
the rest of us are related as jim,don and dick and mona are siblings.
mona could not come. she is frail from what her son told theresa. this is the one who took forever to tell us she had high platelets and fractured 2 vertabres. theresa and I feel we may not see her again.we think there is something they are not telling us. sad.their choice.
it i raining here. fall is coming in this week. we will have temps in the 50's.
well maybe things have slowed down and I can finish the fabric closet.
WHAT I would LIKE TO DO IS GET THINGS LINED UP THAT I HAVE JUST FOR SEW DAY ONLY.THEN WORK ON WHAT I NEED TO WORK ON HERE AT HOME.
have a good rest of the day. phyl

Hello Crafters - Happy 1st Day of October This is one of my favorite months of the year. Lots of family birthdays in the month too. Ruth - Hope you are busy crocheting. Sue - Hope the snow didn't get any worse there. Can't believe how much there was. Phyl - I'm glad you had a good time at the family and were able to see so many people. Are you able to buy a new diabetic kit? I'm sorry to hear you lost it. Ginny - There is probably a way I could record on my cable box, but I just don't have the energy or desire to learn how to do it I'll just watch what I can and not worry about it. That fabric I dreamed about was so ugly. I think it had green, orange and purple in it. I think I might have been influenced by seeing some Halloween decorations in those colors It's warm here today, around 90 and tomorrow it's supposed to be warmer and then we get the wonderful 70 degrees weather Take care everyone!

I called my doctor's office .the nurse called and she has ordered it .as long as they have a doctor's order the insurance will pay for it.
the tricky part is how to handle medicare when I need new strips. medicare b has gotten stinky about alot of things.you order to soon and they make you wait till the day to pick them up.
with the meter as long as there is a doctor's order they will send me a new one if something goes wrong with this one. phyl

Phyl, our doctor's office and the diabetic education office both have meters that they give you free and the strips are covered by insurance.
Cold day here high was about 45 if it even got to that. It's been raining all day and will probably snow this evening and night
I've been crocheting working on hats. Dh is tense about the house thing and is a little grumpy because of it so I crochet hats to just relax. The one I'm working on now is supposed to be a swirl hat but mine is not swirling and from looking on the crochet group it looks like the one other person that tried the pattern didn't have swirling in hers either. The person that designed the pattern and posted it in the files of that group is a perfect example of people that design patterns that are lacking in knowledge of basic crochet. She tells you to skip a stitch right at the side of the post stitch....well that's not a stitch and you're always supposed to skip that. If you crochet into that you will be adding a stitch after every post stitch. In this case you front post stitch, then four hdc, repeat around. You'd be adding a lot of stitches. Luckily it makes a nice hat anyway but the ridges don't swirl they go straight up to the top...as I said nice hat anyway.

Ok, I was literally typing and this silly IPad ( or is it a wonky internet connection?) switched to some news site and dropped my post!
Phyl, you always leave us the most thorough post of your day.....hope that Nita gets a second opinion. Sounds like she needs a real diagnosis because whatever she was diagnosed with is not being treated properly or not correct. Wonder what Specialty Ruth (who does a great job of giving us medical insights long distance) would send her to. Yes, I think its a good idea to have separate projects for home and sew day. Just makes life easier.
CJ- think we both have another day or so of this heat and then it’s done. Amen to that. Glad October is a happy month for you.
Ruth, hope that Dh gets out of his grumpy mood. Good that your crochetting is a safe outlet for you and keeps your spirits up. My quilting does that for me.
Started on the fall table runner last night.
Gonna go as I do not trust this post going through GInny

Today is another very cool day here but the sun just came out so it's looking better.
Dh was in a good mood this morning and he is now taking a nap. Late yesterday the neighbor came over and they were discussing politics which after the neighbor left dh still felt he wanted to rant about the whole thing and why can't the neighbor see that his ...the neighbor's... views jujst don't make sense. I agree. I let him rant and get it out of his system.
Today I'm going to make a nice soup that will be similar to chicken tortilla soup with all my modifications. It will be great for these cold days. I'm also going to rummage and weed out more "stuff" then relax and crochet some more. I still have some drawers in my larger desk and some in the other desk to go through. It's hard making decisions on what to get rid of permanently since we're big believers in "we might need it someday"

Think we all suffer from the “we might need it someday” syndrome. I threw out A LOT of stuff from my mom’s house. Only a rare few items are what I now wish I kept. Rare. I still keep too much stuff, but tend to discard more. So glad that Dh is in a better mood. Sometimes its just better to let someone rant, even if you disagree with their opinion. Its ok. We all need to vent.
Hoping to get a little bit more work done on this table runner. WIsh Ruth could share some of the cool weather with those of us who are too hot Ginny
