I do like the look of the quilt. Mixing flannel and cotton doesn't seem like a good plan to me either although I know nothing about making quiIlts
I have two rolls of Premier sweet rolls which I've had for a long time and never used it because i think it's kind of ugly. So I finally got it out today and started a hat with it and found that it feels really good to work with and actually looks pretty now that it's worked into something. They actually have a sale at Herrschnerr's today where you get 30% off on one item that can also be on sale which the sweet rools are and thirty cents shipping. I do NOT need to buy yarn and I need to not buy any because I not only have too much already but then I have to move it all when we move.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all enjoying your weekend I made myself get up early today and went out to get a few groceries and mail some bills. I had wanted to go out yesterday, but didn't get up early (didn't sleep well the night before). I don't usually like to go out on the weekend, so many people shopping and lots of traffic. I was going to treat myself to breakfast at Chick-Fil-A, but the place was packed with long lines so I passed on it. I'm always amazed at how busy that place always is. I'm not doing much else today, just watching TV and reading. It's much cooler here, only in the 60s. I'm loving the fall weather, but it sure is a shock from the 90s this past week. Take care everyone! ETA : Ginny - thanks for the youtube link to the quilting templates. Those are very interesting. I'm glad you liking yours

CJ,I'm glad that it's cooler there but yes, such a big drop in temperature has to be a big shock. I never go out on weekends unless it's absolutely necessary. Just too many people even here in our small town. Two weeks in a row we had to go out to pick up ds at the airport and the next week to take him back. It wasn't bad until we got to the airport which was packed. Nice thing about it was that although there were tons of people there there were also a LOT of our pronghorn antelope there too. And their outdoor flower pots were bursting with flowers so, since a freeze was coming up I rescued some cuttings of coleaus and begonias. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them since it's winter and I can't plant them outdoors and since we might be leaving for the winter they would die...along with my other plants...inside the house which will not be heated while we're gone.
I'm working on a hat which I have serious doubts about the pattern being correct. I've had to revise it in many ways. I know I mention this about many patterns but I do think that while it many times can be something I've done wrong, that a lot of people just don't know how to write patterns.
Got the most fantastic hint on the crochet groups yesterday. I don't know if any of you have done crochet cables but most people have done some pattern with post stitches and you always get that hole at the left side of the post stitch (unless you're alternating fp and bp). Well someone posted a hint on how to get rid of that hole...I tried it this morning and it is just amazing. It works so well!

Remember the swirl hat I mentioned that I said didn't come out swirly?Well the person that wrote that pattern made a video showing her crocheting it and I see what the problem is. Not only didn't she know that the "stitch" she told us to skip is not a stitch and is always to be skipped but she doesn't know where stitches are supposed to be....like I didn't way back when I started crocheting...she puts her stitches between other stitches not under the two loops like you're supposed to. So I'm about to start another and do it her way and see if it swirls now.

Ruth, I figured that you would come to terms with what was wrong with that pattern. You long suspected that there was a logistics problem with the pattern and that the designer either did not know how to write a pattern or was a poor communicator. I am glad that the youtube straightened that out. It makes me wonder if the person made the video because she suspected that the pattern was written poorly. Just a thought.....and as far as your plants do, well is there a neighbor who could take them for you, or is your Ds planning on visiting you and you could give them to him? What about your Dd or DGD. Would they keep the plants for you? There has to be a way to save them. Do you normally bring them inside for the winter?
CJ- every time I go to a Chik Fil A they are packed and its a challenge getting in. Guess its because the food is so good. We tried to eat at a Chik Fil a today, and were not able to (Dh did not want to cross the highway). So we ended up not eating out at all... Glad you are enjoying the cooler weather, and hopefully a good book. When do the Hallmark CHristmas movies start? Gotta be soon, right? The quilting template is interesting, and I am finding that it might be the answer to what I am trying to do, especially with a smaller project.
Got some work done on the embroidered pillow cases today. Then Dd #2 came over and well we did not get much else done other than visit with her. Got to straighten out some billing issues....have a good night all Ginny

Ginny, the video was just a short one this young woman made with her cell phone and was only posted on the facebook group page. I truly think that she doesn't know where the stitches are supposed to be. She made the little video because there were so many people asking why their's didn't swirl like hers. Now that I've seen that video and started one it's looking very hopeful. Stitches are slanting and I think will be swirling once I get far enough on it.
I've never been to a Chic Fil A although I'd like to. I don't know if we still have one here or not because it was in the the mall but I haven't been to the mall in years. Maybe we'll see one on our travels if we end up traveling anywhere.
Well the plants I guess I will ask neighbors if they want them. They're house plants except for the coleus and begonias I rescued and of course they can be house plants also. I was going to bring in my plants that I have on my porch but didn't so they probably froze. I have to look out again and see but dh doesn't like the idea anyway because he's afraid of bringing in insects that might be on them.DD has a brown thumb and her house gets no sunlight. Dgd has moved in with her so can't take plants
I'm sure you had a great visit with dd. It's mostly always great to see our kids

We had a little bit of frost after a little bit of slushy snow last night. Winter is trying to oust fall! The sky is blue today, but the high will only be 57. Snow on Wednesday with a low in the teens! Good grief!
I like the look of crochet stitches as opposed to knit stitches. That's just a comment from out of the blue! I would like to try a vest with a variegated yarn. I get too warm in the winter if I wear a sweatshirt or a sweater because hb is always cold and the heat is too high for me. A vest provides just the right amount of warmth.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I love the look of cables, I'm glad you found a good way to do them. I saw some pictures on the internet where someone had totally crocheted a small child's Halloween costume - they really put a lot of work into those. Ginny - I'm glad you got some crafting in yesterday and visited with your DD. The movies do start up this month on Hallmark. I'm sure there will be some good ones. Phyl - Glad you were able to find some clothes. Sue - A vest using variegated yarn would be so pretty, hope you can find a pattern you like. It's cloudy and in the 70s here today. Supposed to be warmer tomorrow and then cooler again. I checked out the Slow Sunday stitching blogs and saw one where they were making some pumpkin quilt blocks. I might look through my fabric (I know I have lots of fall-like colors) and see about making a few blocks. I have some shows to watch on TV tonight, so I'll be doing that and some reading. I started a book that has 3 short stories in it and it's themed around Halloween time, so just right for this time of year. Take care everyone!

wow it's amazing what you find out. IN looking thru all of what I thought was my junk collections of knick knacks I found some little bowls, plates, cups and a pitcher with saucer like they used to use in the old days for washing except this one is small. I got them all at garage sales or in boxes that I bought at auctions for $1. I thought they were all junk and was going to get rid of them to downsize but noticed some had china company names on them and numbers so I looked them up online of course and some are actually worth a bit...well $60 is a bit to me. The pitcher and saucer I was going to toss is worth at least $30 or at least that's what it says online. I'm amazed. Guess I'll hold on to them
Crafting today has only consisted of picking up my scarf and yarn and sitting it back down in order to go thru things.

Sue, well you have some crazy weather, and it sure sounds as though you went straight from summer to winter. I think making a nice variegated yarn vest sounds like a good idea.. THink finding a pattern should be super easy- unless you desire a vest with points in the front or back, a vest is not much more than 3 rectangles sewn together at the shoulders and side seams. And pockets too if you desire
Ruth those little bowls, plates etc...wow- who would have thought they were worth something! Would you attempt selling them through an antique dealer? And gee we all have days that the only crafting done is thinking about it, or in your case, picking the yarn up to put it down elsewhere. Hope that tomorrow you can get some time in crochetting.
CJ- what a great idea to get some fall fabrics out to make pumpkin quilt blocks!! Did you ever get much progress done on the mason jar quilt?? Hope that your TV viewing was good. Thanks for the heads up on the Hallmark channel movies. I too am hoping for some good ones this year.
I got no crafting in today, but did put some supplies away. Oh, and I gave the table runner to Dd #2 that I made last week. Guess that counts, right?
Monday tomorrow. Yikes Ginny

Sue,we will get snow on Wed too but only snow showers so I doubt it will amount to much. I hope so anyway. The vest sounds like a great idea. I hope you find a pattern and yarn you like to use. I've see a lot of patterns for some vest type garments that looked really nice and also easy. I'm not a vest person though. I'm always cold.
CJ, the pumpkin blocks sound wonderful and especially for this time of year. I saw those Halloween costumes that were crocheted. I'd never do that. Too much work. I one time sewed a great costume for my dd when she was about 5. Enjoy your shows and your book.
Ginny, giving a gift of something you made must count as crafting. I can't believe it's Monday tomorrow already either. I think I will work on a scarf now. It's 9pm but I can get in an hour or so I think. After spending the last week and a half making hats I need to get back on track since who knows when I'll need to have them done as we could be leaving here sooner than I think if we do find the right house. I'll have a lot of work preparing for the trip. We want to try to go there yet this year if we can and we'll stay till spring. If so will let dgd live here while we're gone so that there will be someone in the house although the neighbor would keep a close eye on it for us. Plans might change though depending on the weather or other factors. We'll have to see but I still need to get the last birthday and the Christmas things done...had to rip out the scarf I thought was done because I noticed that I had made a mistake that made it curl right in front at that V point.
