This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it

Hello Everyone - Welcome to the October thread. I'm so happy to have a place to post and I enjoy reading everything you all post too I'm doing pretty well today. I've been busy doing things around the house so not doing any overeating. Of course after dinner is usually tough for me, so we'll see how the day goes. I do have most of the junk food out of the house again, so that helps. Sadly I'm going to the store again this week Hope everyone has a wonderful month!

Good morning! So far Ron is staying on plan and not complaining lol. I don't have him on a strict super low-carb option, so he's having low-carb breakfast tacos, natures own double fiber bread and things like that, which is still 50% or more fewer carbs than he's used to. It helps me a lot to not have to taste carby dishes to make sure they're seasoned right and everything.

Hello Everyone DotRen - I give your DH credit for trying. I don't know if I could do low carb all the time. I think I could do it for a few days a week though. I'm glad it's helping you not to have to prepare the foods It's really hot here today but supposed to be cooler by the weekend. I'm sure ready for some fall weather. I'm doing alright with my step goals. I have about 1000 more to get in today since I was out earlier and sitting in a car - no way to get steps, at least I haven't figured out how to get them while sitting Hope everyone is doing well on their plans.

cj59, I got a laugh over him last night. I bought Michelob ultra (2.6g carbs per beer) and he drank one last night and said it didn't taste like beer lol. He likes Lone Star, which is (to me) really harsh tasting. I don't care for beer, but I drank one and it tasted fine to me. For something I don't like anyway lol. Today is his day to buy work breakfast, and he usually gets breakfast on a bun or breakfast tacos for his crew, but he said he was going to get scrambled eggs and bacon today - I was proud of him! I'm picking up some Fairlife milk. It's about 1/2 the carbs of regular milk, and he does like milk. Of course, he's already dropped 4 pounds in 3 days(men!). We're expecting a cool front next week, too - can't wait. I love cool weather. Did you get your steps in?

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well DotRen - I drink Fairlife milk a lot of the time too. I like because I can buy it and the expiration date is farther out than regular milk. Saves me from going to the grocery store so often. But I do think it tastes good too. It's irritating the way men can lose weight so quickly, isn't it? I'm happy for you that it's helping you to eat the same as a family I've been doing well with my steps for this new month. I try to get 500 over what my minimum is so that helps me get ready for adding 1000 steps next month. I'm anxious to get back to the steps I was doing before even though it takes some work to get them. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hello everyone! I was committed to tracking this week and would track after I finished the day. Even on days I ate out a lot I usually am around 50 PP or about 2000 calories. I'm supposed to be eating 34 + 7, so 41 PP a day. That was actually a pretty liberating finding because now it's just a matter of eating normally but cutting out 9 points a day. Secondly, I realized how chronically dehydrated I am. I always look at the recommendation of 8 glasses of water or half your weight in ounces and scoff, but looking at the hard data, I understand why I have so many digestive issues - it's the water! And it might even be the reason I have such dry skin, stay sicker longer, maybe even the fatigue? I really need to turn over a new leaf when it comes to hydrating. amyrs, Veggie burgers are delicious! And that's great you get in fruit/veg and healthy fats like peanut butter. Very impressed that you're trying to go Freestyle Vegan cj59, Great work on your steps! I used to be really good about it, and it always forced me to go on a walk. I really need to put that Fitbit back on! lol Good luck on reaching your goal! DotRen, How fun to be low-carb-ing with your DH. It sounds like he's definitely trying to make some changes. Has it been easier for you meal prep wise? sunrose49, How are things going with you? Well, I'm off to the grocery store. Wish me luck on making good choices!

irisinnia, yes, men lose faster and it seems like they don't even try lol. And yes, easier prep since I'm not having to make more side dishes for him. I hear you about the water. On lower carb, it's especially important. I drink a powerade zero or a zipfizz daily (not a fan of sweeteners, but these aren't too sweet) to help keep my electrolytes balanced.

Hello Everyone amrys - Hope you like the changes in your eating plan and that they work for you. irisinnia - Congratulations on the weight loss (we won't mention your DH's weight loss ). Good luck with the track and increased water. I know I have to make myself do those each day, but I do think it helps. DotRen - That's interesting about low carb needing extra hydration. I've never done that type of eating but you seem to have a good handle on it and I'm happy it works for you. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I'm just focusing on the 4 daily goals I've set for the 100 day challenge and we're over 1/4 of the way done and I'm doing pretty well. I'm glad I joined this because otherwise I think I'd just be eating a bunch of junk every day and not walking. I received another email from WW about rejoining. They are really trying to get back the old members. I think that's the 4th email I've received in the last few weeks! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I hope the 2020 innovation plan is good. I am doing WW online I decided today. However I have vouchers so I will go the week of November 11 to get the new materials. I will go this Saturday to get a monthly weight. If I go once a month I can track my weight and not use all my vouchers I won't concentrate only on weight numbers each week but by month. I think that will make me happier.

cj59, for whatever reason, lower carb diets tend to be diuretic, so adding the extra liquids (and especially electrolytes: sodium, potassium, magnesium) are really important. If you've ever heard of "keto flu" it's usually because going really low in carbs can unbalance your electrolytes pretty bad, the first week to 10 days can make some people feel like the genuinely have the flu. Neither Ron or I have ever gotten it that bad. The weekend went well. Cool(ish!) front today then an actual cool front Friday. We turned on the central heat yesterday to burn off the "you only use me 10 days a year" dust on it lol - stinks like crazy for about 10 minutes. We probably won't need heat for a few more weeks, but they're calling for low 50s over the weekend and sometimes I'll turn it on in the morning for a few minutes just to knock the chill down. I was really proud of Ron this weekend. We got burgers Friday -no bun or fries, and he didn't complain. Yesterday he was really wanting a Subway spicy Italian, so we both opted for the salad version and it was pretty good. I know he's "sticking to it" because he probably lost 10 pounds already. He won't tell me lol -because he knows it ticks me off that he can lose that easy. Perks of having a "personal chef" I guess lol.

Hello Everyone amrys - I hope weighing monthly helps you. I tried that for awhile too and it did help to not be obsessed with the scale. I hope you like the new program that's coming out next month. DotRen - I'm glad the low carb is still working for your DH, I hope it helps you with cooking. I have received 5 emails from WW over the last week or so. They are desperate to get people to join before the new program! I think that's really "mean" of them. Someone who didn't know a new program was coming out would join and use the current program for a month and then all of a sudden have to learn a new one. That is one of their business practices that irritate me. I'm just surprised they still had my email - 9 years after I quit going. I'm starting to realize I've got to seriously get on some type of eating plan. I'm a little out of control again, even though I'm focusing on getting certain food groups and exercise each day. Hope I can figure out what I want to do. Hope everyone else checking in is doing well on their plans
