And yes, we have seen bears in the front and back of our house. And 10 inches is a lot of snow for October!

HI, CJ ARE THESE RECORDED PROGRAMS OF THIS IS US? SOME OF MY FRIENDS WATCHED THE FIRST ONE THIS SEASON AND WERE READY TO STOP WATCHING IT. THEN A few WATCHED IT LAST WEEK WEEK AND SAID IT MADE SENSE.
I NEVER GOT INTO IT. I AM PROBABLY ONE OF THE FEW OF THOSE WHO NEVER GOT INTO DOWNTOWN ABBY.
RUTH if you move to Kentucky they get winters and cold also.I don't think they get as cold or as much snow as the Midwest does.least it does not last as long.spring does com early.
Last December the weather was not bad.didn't use my heavy winter coat.then we have been there when it has been really cold. sometimes snowing to beat the band. course the towns we go to are closer to the Ohio state line.
SO KEEP THE WINTER COATS, MITTENS AND BOOTS.
COME TO THINK OF IT I better hunt up my mittens to wear and a heavier jacket.we are going to be in the 40's by the weekend. don't need the winter coat or boots yet.phyl

Ginny, a screened porch and/or a room devoted to crafting sounds like a good dream to me. We had a screened porch in our fishing shack in Arkansas. Everytime I mentioned fishing shack I remember watched Barefoot Contessa on Food Network and one episode where she mentions and shows her friend's "fishing shack" I'm sure his was way more upscale than mine and probably cost him a mil or so where mine was less than the price of a used car Now I'm so angry I couldn't even type till now. My dd posted on FB that my dgd's friend's 7 month old baby was beaten by her boyfriend and has two broken arms, a broken leg, broken foot, and skull fractures. Yes I'd love to squish his testicles in a vice and do many other horribly painful things to that guy but I also want to smack her for letting scumbags into her home and life when she has two small children. She also has a husband! Neither of these men are the father of either of her children. Why is the world becoming so depraved and why don't these girls that havve small children stay at home and raise these adorable babies instead of being involved with many different men.I feel that after you have a child that child should be your focus and it would be really nice too if that child's father was a good person and was there to help raise the child or children. Of course this young woman's mother was a druggie so she probably doesn't know what a family is supposed to be like or what a mother is supposed to be like...still no excuse. I hope she's learned her lesson but probably not. In a month she'll probably have a new boyfriend

Phyl, I've never seen an episode of Downtown Abbey. Phyl, yes I'm always prepared for winter. Even in the deep south it gets cold but my son lives very near the Ind/Ky border so I know it definitely gets cold there but where he lives it doesn't snow enough to make the kids happy. I was just telling my dh this afternoon that he's going to have to take winter coats. We're now back to looking at property in Indiana instead of Ky. Who knows where we're going to end up CJ, I still haven't got my fans put away but you mentioning it may spur me on to do that. I'm glad it's getting cooler there and you can be more comfortable. I'm glad too that your tv program schedule is more to what you can watch. I've never seen either of those programs. Are they on PBS? To get locals here we havve to switch over to the antenna and I'm too lazy to do that so I don't often see pbs but if and when we get moved or for the 5 month visits Im sure we'll see more locals and won't have cable or sat tv.

An up to date forecast says we'll have single digit temperatures for lows on Wednesday and Thursday night's. Yikes! There will be broken branches for sure because almost no leaves have fallen.
I don't understand men and women who abuse babies and children or pets. Very often drugs are involved.
Here it's low temperatures and snow that drive bears into hibernation. Usually in early November. There are black bears here, but there are grizzlies less than fifty miles away.

RUTH, So very sorry to hear about your dgd friend's baby. I had to read it twice before I realized it was not dgd.
as teenagers we had a saying hang them ups and skin their balls alive. course back then it was not like it is now. CAll me I WILL
hope his ass is in jail.HELP YOU.
I do believe part of the problem is kids do not know where they belong. couples move in together have a kid or more one leaves they find another partner or married couples get divorce and they move on to other people.
not saying all divorce or live ins are bad. we read or hear they do this because the baby does not stop crying.you don't want kids keep your damn pants up.
about 3 years ago we left ky in december. got into In and traffice was stopped, exits were backed up,overpasses were at a stand still. we got out of he exit land and into the lane that was traveling. the lane that kept going. the rest were exit lanes or people going to work in ky or coming out of ky.I LOOKED BACK AND THE CARS BEHIND US WERE STOPPED FOR OVER A MILE OR MORE.
WE GO TOWARD INDINAPPOLIS AND NO PROBLEM AT ALL.
THEY SURE DON' T HAVE THE SNOW REMOVAL MACHINES THE MIDWEST DOES.
ALSO I THINK THIS COUNTRY HAS GOTTEN SO FAR AWAY FROM BELIEVING IN GOD. HAVE YOU EVER WONDER HOW MUCH MAYBE THE NO LONGER SUNDAY CLOSING LAW MAY HAVE STARTED SOME THIS YEARS AGO? MOTHERS WENT TO WORK ON SUNDAY. FATHERS WORKED ON SUNDAYS.
GROWING UP MAYBE A GAS STATION, DRUGSTORE OR A OUT OF CITY LIMITS WE COULD GO GET A FEW GROCERIES.BEER JOINTS HAD TO BE CLOSED ON SUNDAYS.HAD TO GO OUT OF THE CITY LIMITS IF YOU WANTED BEER. PHYL

The guy that did this is a meth addict I found out. Who would leave a baby with a meth addict? The girl was at work which is too her credit only because she wasn't out drinking which I now hear she does frequently and she's so young. ONly 20 or 21... her other son is 3 years old and the boyfriend told the police it was the 3 year old that beat the baby!! They knew he was lying. I'm sure he's under arrest but what is he going to be charged with and convicted of. Probably not much and he'll go on to harm someone else's baby.

Hello Crafters Ruth - I'm so sorry to hear about that poor baby, I hope he/she will recover and that the child will be placed somewhere safer. I can never understand how someone can hurt a child, let alone a baby. Hope your weather isn't too bad. Phyl - The "This is Us" shows I was talking about are from the new season that just started. The first show was very confusing. Fortunately I'd read that it would be so I was prepared. I guess they needed to introduce some new characters since they've pretty much covered all the pasts of the current characters. Sue - Hope you didn't get too much snow. Ginny - Hope you are enjoying some of the nice weather I have. I went out today and got the oil changed and tires rotated on my new car. I've had it for 6 months and haven't even driven 2000 miles yet! But I didn't want to go longer than this without an oil change. I didn't really want my tired rotated so soon, but the technician said it never hurts to rotate tires. It's just not the way I did with my other cars - I always waited longer. This service was all free for the first time, so it was a good deal. I also ran some errands while I was out and got groceries. My freezer (I have an old side-by-side fridge) is full so I don't think I'll need to go grocery shopping for a few weeks and definitely don't need any frozen food. I might go to Costco this week since they have the Dole Fruit cups (Mixed Cherry and Diced Peaches) that I like to have in the house and pick those up. Then I'll only need milk, some type of bread product and Caffeine Free Diet Cokes the next time I go to the store. I can't miss having a diet coke each day The weather here is nice - in the 70s. I'm enjoying it so much. Hope you are all getting some crafting done. Take care everyone!

Hello CJ, and all who come in later.
It's really cold here today but no snow down here yet but I think I see a lot on the mountains looking thru the clouds.
I've been going thru things in my cupboards today and now I've really created a mess. I have a lot of cupboards.I have things sitting to take to dd and some for GW, some for trash. Dh is having a very hard time letting go even though he said he was ready to downsize. It's a good thing we're not moving completely right now. He even has serving dishes he can't let go of even though there are some we've never used and never will. He did manage to let me put some into a box for dd. They're the ones that have all the family gatherings, etc so they need serving dishes, relish trays, etc. I, of course, found all the plastic ware that has no tops and tops that have no container. One of the mysteries of life is what happens to the mate of plastic wear and another is mates of socks.I haven't even got to the casserole dishes yet and he's already set aside some baking dishes that we've never used that he wants to keep.Four of the baking dishes have a divider that divides the dish in half. I wonder what you're supposed to do with that but he wants to keep them and take then with us this first time we go.
BBL after taking a break and trying to talk myself into crocheting so that I can get the Christmas things done before we leave.

Where is Lorena Bobbit when you need her? I am sickened of the story RUth shared about what happened to her DGD’s friend’s baby. This man needs a LOT of help and never to be allowed to be alone with a child again. Prayers for the baby too.
Ruth, why the change back to Indiana? Will this be closer to DS and his family? glad you are getting some downsizing done and sharing the serving dishes with Dd. ITs good that Dh is allowing that, which makes your job easier>
CJ- well I can send my granddaughters to see you...they LOVE “fruity cup”- those Dole diced fruits with the cherry in them. Its a favorite snack here when they visit. Glad you got some errands done and your oil changed and tires rotated- before winter sets in. Are you pleased with how the car runs?
Phyl, thanks for the info on the Christmas movies! I put it in my phone calendar. And I completely agree with your commentary on today’s society. We have gotten away from God- actually pushed him out. And its hurting society as a whole.
Sue, do you have any branches close to the house? Perhaps you could contact a landscaper to remove t he branches that will be a problem if you do get that much snow. I am sure you are prepared for what looks like an early winter.
Had both Dd’s Over for most of the day, so I got very little done. My crafting for the day was a panic phone call from my quilting friend who needs more fabric (which I have), So we discussed quilting on the phone for awhile.
Have a good night all Ginny

Ginny, it must have been a fun day with both your dd's there and the grandchildren too..those that weren't in school. Your friend is lucky to have a friend like you to talk to share fabric with, and to call when in a panic. Yes Indiana is close to my son. It was our plan to move there but dh didn't think there were good lakes and rivers for fishing which is HIS #1 criteria so he asked me about and decided on Ky which is very close too but the lakes he picked were further away. Now he's found two wonderful lakes in Indiana so we're trying there Yes people definitely no longer have God in their lives. So many things that were not accepted in the past are completely accepted as good and normal now. Well I dug out more dishes, mostly mixing bowls and then sat down to crochet. I finished the hat and the v scarf that I was working on and have started another and am on the third row of that. The rows are so long...282 stitches as I've mentioned before. So dh said that he only said I could share his outbuilding not have the whole thing so I guess it's going to be a combo she shack and man cave...although we won't be calling it those names . We'll have to make up something to call it. Since he will be doing woodworking in it and his other hobbies probably we could just call it our craft cave like my room here is. No snow down here so far but it's really cold...in the 20's now. I saw snow on the mountain before the sun went down. It's too dark to see anything now. I heard now that the story on the baby might not be the truth. The police are investigating the mother (my dgd's friend) as the possible culprit. I havent heard how the baby is because they don't allow her to be with him now that she's a suspect. They also took her 3 year old into custody of child welfare services. My dd also knows the girl well and says she really doesn't think that the girl did it but I don't know as we ever know what someone else will do in certain circumstances. She did hear that the girl didn't take the baby to the hospital right away after she either found he was injured or injured him herself

good morning, I thought they would move the 3 year old.they will figure out who did it. I could just cry for the baby.
hopefully now the 3 year old will have a better chance.course that depends if the mother gets him back.
hope she is not one who thinks she has to have a man in her life.some women are so desperate for man.
today will be running around to get supplies for the free mortin class.phyl

Good morning,
Out to run errands with Dh, so this will be a quick hello.
Ruth, whatever the outcome I just hope that the officials can get to the bottom of what happened to this child and put in safeguards so that it can never happen again. Now these two precious little ones have this legacy of abuse. How sad. glad you got some crochetting time in. And yes, just calling that shed a craft cave is a good thing. Just make sure his saw dust does not get on your yarn! Best of luck with your house hunt....
Phyl- when is your free motion class?? Do they have a specific project in mind?
Ok, time to go....BBL Ginny

Good morning all. It did snow. Right after I posted that there was none here I looked outside and my deck was covered. This morning everything is covered but nowhere near 10 inches. There is maybe 3. It is cold though. I don't know what the temp is but it's way below my comfort level.
Phyl, unfortunately this girl does seem to be one that feels she needs a man in her life and like a lot of young women she does make good choices in men either. My dd says that the girl's husband is the best of the men that the girl has "hooked up" with but she doesn't stick with him and goes off with other ones all the time dragging the babies along so that they, also are at the mercy of whatever these men do to them.
I got my next scarf that I started yesterday almost done. I have one more row and will start another right after that. I need to get them done. I also need to bring some order to the mess I created yesterday. I need to wash the cupboard shelves and all the things I took off them and put the things back that Im not disposing of in one way or another.
I hope you all have a good day. Phyl, I hope you like your class. Ginny, I hope you get in some crafting time, CJ hope You were able to watch the shows you wanted to watch last evening. Sue I hope you're not too badly snowed in. Haven't heard from my dgs that lives somewhere in your vacinity.
