Daily Affirmation: Nothing can dim the light that shines from within me Fitness: I will walk 10 minutes three times today Health: My food choices will be recorded on paper and MFP Spiritual: I am a spiritual being having a human experience Gratitude: I am grateful for the abundance that surrounds me
The weekend was without incident. Talked to children and granddaughters via Skype - always grateful for that Sunday connection. I am planning to make a pot of beans for the week ahead and will do some cooking to ensure healthy food is available this week. I finished a duology (two related stories in one volume) yesterday, was asked to read/review a number of other books and have the next one picked out to read and review...never a lack of reading to do...glad I enjoy reading and writing reviews! It will be a good week
MICHELLE: It sounds like Buttercup is coming along. It must be so interesting having three dogs with such different personalities that have formed a pack around their trusty alpha (you). I am glad the purple haired heroine in your book managed to pull through and that you (eventually) enjoyed the book well enough to order another by the same author.

Affirmation: I am a work in progress making progress Fitness: stand and move during the day - cards and car rides will take up most of the day Health: Make wise food choices while with friends today Spiritual: laughter with friends will be good for my soul Gratitude: friends from the city who still ask me to join them...from time to time
MICHELLE: I am going to Beirut with a friend. Not sure if we will try the NEW road we were told about or if we will go on the old road. It will be a LONG day today and another long day tomorrow. Two days back to back of card playing may do me in. I wanted something to help us find the thread in the list thus the stars in the subject line and I also thought if there was a picture that indicated what the thread was about it might be nice. Wonder if anyone will join us? It has ben hot...nearly 100 degrees and I turned the ac on last night...ugh!

Cathy, It has been quite cold here in the morning, 18 degrees. Hope you have fun playing cards.
Affirmation: I wear my life like a loose garment. Spiritual: Let it all go. Physical: 8,323 steps Gratitude: This life!
Not much going on in my world today. I needed to take a day off from chores etc since the puppy has been making sleeping challenging the last few days. When we go out a night there a number of large owls hanging about. The other night one flew low overhead so Buttercup and I ran in the house as fast as we could.
When hubby takes the dogs for a walk in the morning I have been sitting doing some form of journaling and goal setting. This feels right so I am glad for this 15 minutes. Also I like the fact that there is a definite start and stop to it since journaling has gotten out of hand time wise in the past. I need to commit and execute to certain goals! My motivation has been lacking lately probably due to a bad case of puppy-itis.

Affirmation: I am content Fitness: Mental fitness is mine...now to work on the physical Health: Moderation and wise choices Spiritual: Time with friends nourishes my soul Gratitude: Friends...back to back days with two groups of friends
I was in Beirut yesterday and will be in Tripoli today. Had fun yesterday and plan to have fun today, too. Nothing much to report except life is good and I am enjoying it.
MICHELLE: How scary to think the owl was gunning for your puppy! Glad you ran inside to safety. What kind of journaling are you doing in the 15 minutes you have in the mornings?

Affirmation: I wear my life like a loose garmet. Spiritual: Connection Physical: 10,188 Steps today, annual physical, flu shot. Gratitude: Special moments with strangers
Today a little boy started waving at me in the grocery store parking lot and for some reason he kept waving and waving so I did the same. Finally he blew me a kiss. Just so precious. The mom was laughing and got a big kick out of when I blew him back a kiss. I am so grateful for these moments. Also took Clair to the dog food store where she is much loved by the employees. When I was traveling with Hubby internationally he was amazed at some of the experiences I had with people. Maybe just being open to Universe changes what we encounter.
Cathy, My morning time is whatever I want it to be. I have a few goal areas and I sometimes think or write about them or possibly I just start writing and when my 15 minutes is up I have felt far more connected with Universe or maybe not. However I do believe that this process is definitely related to getting the most out of this message board.
My affirmation was a failure today. I felt like I was being strangled by my life--specifically all I had to do. Back to the drawing board tomorrow!

Affirmation: I make wise choices Fitness: I will move more today than yesterday Health: Moderation Spiritual: My spirit is at peace Gratitude: Having a day at home without an agenda
Yesterday was fun but two days of sitting is too much. I don't know how people who have sitting jobs manage to sit all day every day day after day! Today there is nothing I have to do though I probably should do some laundry...at some point in time.
MICHELLE: I am sorry you felt "strangled" and hope today will be better. It must be marvelous having unexpected wonderful happenings when you go out into the community!

Affirmation: Tomorrow is a new day! Spiritual: Freedom Physical: 8,126 steps, but those dratted shots sidelined me for the most part today Gratitude: Lovely fall colors
Cathy, I have had a stand up desk for work for many years and actually do very little sitting. I can't stay awake when I sit at a desk. Actually I can't go to plays etc since I usually fall asleep even though I am not tired. Hubby gives me a bad time by telling me I was snoring during the play.

Affirmation: I focus on what I want Fitness: 10 minute x 3 = 30 minutes yesterday - planning to do the same today Health: Focusing on Power Foods and recording in my journal Spiritual: I am aligned with the energy of abundance Gratitude: I am grateful for coffee in the morning
MICHELLE: Too funny about sleeping anywhere you sit. There is a term for that...narcolepsy...hope you have some awake times when sitting I can't imagine standing at a desk...my legs would get tired. I have read on an exercise bike or elliptical type machine but can't imagine standing all day...might be as bad as sitting all day!

Affirmation: I wear my life like a loose garment. Spiritual: Realism Physical: 9,605 Steps Gratitude: Shopping on the internet. It has made my life so much easier.
Lovely day here. If it warms up a bit more I am going outside and do a little gardening. That is what people call a hobby--mostly I call it cleaning up some kind of mess. So raking pine needles can be considered gardening instead of cleaning up the mess those trees made again. A perspective overhaul!

For some reason my computer is not wanting to copy and paste...hmm....thankfully it decided to so...
Affirmation: I am back on track Fitness: Walking will happen today Health: Will track my calories, exchanges and PF foods on paper and MFP Spiritual: Peace Gratitude: I am not in the city and not near demonstrations occurring in the country
I had a quiet day - made some soup and seitan and stayed in touch with friends. They were all sharing photos of fires in the distance as demonstrators against the government protested about the situation. I like living at the end of the road in a small village!
MICHELLE: Raking pine needles can also be considered "grooming" - Are you collecting them to use in fires or a compost bin or???

Affirmation: I feel relaxed and rested. Spiritual: Committed to my path Physical: Day of Rest for me. Gratitude: Money--I remember when I didn't have much at all so I am grateful for the easier lifestyle I have now. Cathy, The pine needles are a particularly high wildfire hazard since an ember from a fire many miles away could land in them and end up causing terrible problems. We have over 100 feet cleared around our house and I am diligent in keeping it this way. This requires removal of all new vegetation, weeds, etc annually. We keep on top of this! Most of out neighbors were definitely freaking out when wildfire was within 1/2 mile of our homes because of failure to take action on this area. The whole valley was so lucky that there were no other fires within hundreds of miles so that such a large number of fire personnel and fire retardant planes etc could concentrate on saving our homes.
I have been working on getting Clair's and my costumes ready for several Therapy events coming up. Today I finished up purchasing needed items. Clair is going to a couple of them as a Ladybug and I am going as her sidekick. I am not much on making myself look to far out so mine will be very simple--just red jeans, black tee with a cute ladybug on it that says "Team Ladybug", headband with antanae. Also Clair has a very minimalist Halloween outfit; orange harness, cute pumpkin stickers I put on her ears for earrings, that kind of thing. I will wear just regular colored jeans and a simple tee--this one has the Pi sign made of pumpkins (which some of the more cleaver college kids will get). Finally we are going to an assisted living center. I got a retro apron that I think will remind us all of days gone by in a good way because it has a very nice Thanksgiving theme. Clair and I will wear matching stand up turkey headbands (if she will cooperate) and she will wear a brown harness with very cute Turkey ticker earring etc. I am looking forward to all of this because people just love it when Clair gets dressed up like this. The trick is to keep it toned down so that she is still able to be petted.

Affirmation Fitness Health Spiritual Gratitude
The strikes/demonstrations continue today. I think they will be ongoing till the 72 hour deadline is reached Monday evening and if the prime minister does not agree to a way forward that his cabinet/parliament can agree on things might escalate. I have been here off and on for over forty years and Lebanon has always been a mess in one way or another. I had hopes that "one generation" on from the civil war would fix things...not so. Ah well...
Yesterday was a good and on plan day. Meals were healthy and I did some reading. Hubby went out and bought some groceries sand produce in nearby villages and had no trouble but others on the road were often turned back or had to find alternate side roads to take.
Today I think we are making tabouleh for lunch and we have an eggplant I might make in some way...perhaps slices grilled in the panini maker would be good then rolled in flat bread with the tabouleh or something else. We also have zucchini, lettuce, cauliflower, carrots and perhaps other things lurking in the frig to make something with. We won't starve
MICHELLE: I like the simple ideas you have for you and Clair to wear as costumes! sticker earrings sound cute and easy if she agrees to wear them. I know my sister used to put a t-shirt on her big dogs after surgery to keep them from licking but a decorated harness sounds much easier! I can see why clearing around the house is a good idea if you are in a fire hazard area. I don't know if 100 feet would be enough or not in some fires...thinking about Paradise, California...wonder if any in the path survived and what criteria meant one house made it and another did not. Do you have shingles on the roof? I know in California they passes a law that roofs could not have wooden shake shingles any longer.

Cathy, Sorry you are having governmental woes.
Nothing special today. Took Buttercup to her Playday and then to her class. Otherwise it was life as usual.
