MICHELLE: simple days are the best! Hope Buttercup enjoyed her events yesterday.

Affirmation: I wear my life like a loose garment Spiritual: Trust Physical: 10,192 steps Gratitude: Optimistic people I went to a lengthy afternoon meeting about the Paws4Love Crisis Response Team. Our group of 20 teams pertains to the local school districts program of having therapy dog teams come into the schools when there is a crisis such as student suicides, deaths etc. This is a highly successful program since it changes the atmosphere and helps the kids with their emotional reactions. Anyway, lots of talk about the do's and don'ts etc. Not all 20 teams go on a crisis. Actually it was pretty interesting. The therapy dogs are considered first responders in the emotional health area whereas a fireman would be considered a first responder in the physical health area. So Clair and I are now one of these teams.
Cathy, How old are your grandchildren? I love your spiritual!

Affirmation: Life is good Fitness: walk daily of 30 minutes is the plan Health: Eating healthy in moderation and journaling makes a HUGE difference Spiritual: Will tap into the universe today Gratitude: Food, water and other basics in the house when roads are closed
Stayed home yesterday. Hubby listened to the news. Country is a mess. I am focusing on reading, reviewing and the basics and leaving politics to the rest.
MICHELLE: Your meeting sounds interesting. I had not thought of dogs as first responders but they are...even to find people after disasters. I like that support animals are able to give comfort. Does the giving of comfort wear the dogs out? Also...was thinking that as the thread gets longer others will see it and might join...or not...

Affirmation: I am OK just as I am. Spiritual: Peace Physical: 10,622 Steps
Gratitude: My home
Cathy. The therapy work is so intense it exhausts us both. Although it seems that she is getting less tired as she gets more experience. The silent emotions (happy, stressed, excited, afraid on and on) are definitely flowing strongly and both she and are are being intensely empathic. A lot more goes into this than just mindlessly sitting while the dog is petted. For example, each person's body language needs to be read and interpreted correctly. Our goal is to "spread a little sunshine" no matter what is going on and ignore the "issues" since that is not what a dog is about. I think this work can be done at whatever spiritual level the handler wants. Being fully present, behaving as though the God in all life matters etc. I have a wonderful book about doing this work that I consider my bible. The author talks about spiritual practices in a no nonsense way and has put me on deeply spiritual plane.
Not too sure about getting any newcomers to this board. Possibly if we were located in a different area since most people shy away from the word "Fitness". One thing I do like is that it has always been a positive place rather than a place to dump all of our medical woes. Some boards are a constant listing of these types of items. I need to stay focused on what is right in my life! Is it important to you to have a more active board? I've given up caring. Sometimes responding to a number of people daily puts me out of the running. I only have so much time and like you am active on other boards already. I say lets do a "test" move if it is important for you to get more participants.

Affirmation: I am in tune with the universe Fitness: walking - 30 minutes yesterday and 30 more today Health: eating healthy power foods, recording in my journal, staying OP will see me at goal weight again in the future Spiritual: My spirit is filled with light Gratitude: Food in the cupboards and water to drink (also coffee )
Read and cooked and stayed home. The situation still up in the air with a "revolution" called for. I think the people in the streets are fed up with promised but no action and don't plan to leave the streets till the govt does what is needed OR they are ousted.
MICHELLE: Your support sessions sound draining. I am glad you and Clair have one another to recharge your batteries with. As for the group growing? I like it small and intimate so we can actually talk. With under ten people that can still happen but with a LARGE group personals get overwhelming and it is hard to stay. I do like this group because it is positive. I try to only join that kind of group We stay here. Do you like the ongoing thread?

Affirmation: I am a radiant being filled with light and love. Spiritual: Patience Physical: 7,304 steps Gratitude: Dentists
Cathy, The government situation sounds tense. I am off to drop off my application to the school district for the Crisis Response Team and to go to the dentist. Also looking forward to a therapy event tomorrow. Actually these are incredible fun--just tiring due to having to pay such close attention.

Affirmation: Onederland or bust is my slogan today Fitness: didn't walk yesterday...will today Health: make healthy choices, stay within calories, walk, write it all down Spiritual: The universe and I are in accord Gratitude: Rain drops that fall and quench the thirst of the earth
Yesterday we went out to buy some groceries. The little side roads in the area were open...some of the big ones were closed but we found all the groceries we needed nearby. It started raining as we arrived home and then I settled in to read and review. I chose NOT to read one of the books on my list and let the publisher know...not in the mood and a bit silly or perhaps too much like other books I have read recently. So, today a new book and review to do along with laundry and dishes and figuring out which leftovers to eat for what meals.
MICHELLE: Your days sound full and some intense though rewarding. Are the classes you attend online or in person? Have you ever seen or worked with dogs that are trained for search & rescue, cadaver finding, other?

Affirmation: My craft projects turn out adorable! Spiritual: Relax Physical: 9,908 steps Gratitude: This life!
Cathy, Love! your Spiritual. What are your very favorite top 3 books read in the last couple of years? The class for Buttercup is in person and yes I took a course from a lady who did search and rescue with her dogs. She was absolutely fascinating with many wonderful stories about successful searches done with dogs.
Spent the afternoon with Clair at the University. The students loved her Halloween outfit especially the pumpkin stickers for earrings. It was just a basic bright orange and black harness with matching leash and collar accessorized with Halloween items. Still have two more costumes to get ready. One is a Ladybug creation for both of us and the other is a Thanksgiving one. I have all of the stuff but need to get the Ladybug one all put together in the next few days.

Affirmation: I am a divine creation being fine tuned by my life experiences Fitness: I will walk 30 minutes today Health: my goal is to make choices today for a healthy tomorrow Spiritual: I nourish my soul with positive thoughts and happy people Gratitude: for the abundance that I have
Stayed home yesterday. The political demonstrations continue. No idea what the outcome will be. Life where I am is fine. I check in with family and friends. Just boiled some black eyed peas to put into a spinach and bulgur dish for lunch.
MICHELLE: I have not a CLUE what my favorite books over the last few years might be. I have read or skimmed and reviewed over a book a day (on average) for the past few years. I have old favorites that I reread from time to time but none of the ones I have read are mine to read again as they come from the publisher as an e-download and disappear in less than two months. That said...some linger longer. There is a dystopian series by Rebecca Zanetti and another by Megan Crane that hit hard and I did buy Megan Crane's books and hope to be Zanetti's in the future. I do keep a notebook that I write in while reading and then post to my blog that you might skim through to see if any of the books are of interest to you: cathygeha.tumblr.com/ Nora Roberts wrote a book about a woman who trains rescue dogs...can't remember the name but could look it up. There are a couple of series with K-9 partners with some better than others. There have been so many books that it is hard to keep them all straight. I read historical, fantasy, contemporary, mysteries, suspense, thrillers, LBGTQIA, paranormal, art, crafts, needlework, cooking, religion...actually anything that sounds interesting or that has an author I like. I have a list of perhaps 20-40 authors that reach out for me to read their books before they are published and those people write from cities in NZ, Australia, Europe, USA, Canada, South America...it is interesting
I love that you and Clair dress up for your support outings!

I spent the morning catching up on office work and now am trying to get the house back in order. It is a lovely day outside.

Affirmation: I am able to persevere when the scale is stuck Fitness: walked 15 minutes already - 15 more before lunch Health: KOKO - eating on plan and keeping my journal will see the scale move Spiritual: What I visualize for myself will manifest in my life Gratitude: rain that nourishes the earth and earth that provides for all and the cycle of life that keeps on going
Yesterday I checked in with some friends that have no family herein Lebanon. Some are going a bit stir crazy. Made a spinach/onion/black eyed pea/bulgur dish for lunch and decided I liked it better with the spinach than fennel greens and definitely like it better with legumes than without. Nothing really happening here...same old same old with the walks and reading and cooking and time online. Oh, my brother called from California yesterday. Woke me up and didn't see a number, heard a deep voice and thought "wrong number" or "obscene phone call" so hung up. My brother did call back waking me (later than usual) and we talked TWO hours. it was nice catching up with him. I really didn't say much but he seemed talkative.
MICHELLE: I am lucky to enjoy a variety of genres for reading. I can't imagine liking only one type of reading material. There are some I find difficult to get into or enjoy (sci-fi, chick-lit, horror, humorous romance that is just silly...things like that) It is gray and overcast here today with rain in the forecast later this week...I think.

Affirmation: I pay attention to what my body is telling me. Spiritual: Connection Physical: 9,756 steps and yoga Gratitude: A quiet home Cathy, I really like your spiritual. I have been working in this area when I do my 15-20 minutes in the morning. I'm glad you were able to have a lengthy conversation with your brother. My older brother and I spoke a special language between us that nobody else was a part of because we were raised together through some tough times--which we weren't all that aware were tough. My younger brother is 12 years younger so we do not have that kind of bond but I love him a lot. Today was an errand day for me which I have let pile up. However I did quit at the time I had decided on so that was a real victory for me. I will have to go to town again tomorrow to finish up. I have definitely started paying attention to not overdoing it.

Affirmation: I flow through life
Fitness/Health: plan to walk 30 minutes and make healthy food choices today.
Spiritual: The universe provides what I need
Gratitude: Friends that are there for me
Yesterday was more of the same. The people in power want the people in the streets to leave the streets and the protestors are not planning to leave till their demands are met. In general it is still peaceful but I wonder how long people can leave home and jobs. I can't see them leaving before something is accomplished or it is all for nothing. Strange times I have lived through in my life!
I have been thinking about diet. I did well on the first points program and liked it and I tried Core for a month and did well on it. I reached goal weight on both the 1984 exchange program and the first points program BUT tossed out all of my WW information when I was doing a major purge of "stuff" in the house. So, I have joined a Simply Filling and Points Plus group online and am thinking about one or the other. I have a feeling that points counting provides more structure but SF allows something else. I also think that NO diet is the way to go but have a feeling I would gain on that no-diet way of eating. Anyway, have signed up for a 21 day plant based whole food diet that starts in November, plan to see what the two Facebook groups have to offer and will also see what I can learn from the new Points Plus group on ProBoards.
MICHELLE: I am sorry you had difficult times during your childhood but thankful you and your older brother had one another to lean on. I think sibling relationships are each different one from the other. My sister and brother were almost like twins growing up and always together leaving me feeling the outsider at three and four years older than they were. I became the one to drive, babysit, be in charge at the pool...etc... I was always there for them but one time my sister told me she wanted to be closer but the age gap always kept her and I distant. At some point in time we started writing to one another and when email occured we eventually started writing daily and that meant we knew one another on a daily basis. I think my brother feels he is still in the group but more distant as he is not in the email ring. Ah well...I am glad we are still in touch because my son-in-law and his brother have not spoken to one another for I don't know how many decades. HOORAY for being able to call TIME on the errands and work for the day!

Affirmation: I get things done! Spiritual: Easy does it Physical: 10,313 Steps Gratitude: Nice people
Cathy, The computer has changed our ability to interact with others in amazing ways. I have always been thankful for my odd childhood because my best character traits are the result of those times. I wished so many times when I got older that I had a sister.
Good luck learning the new WW system. I still use the most archaic old WW plans. No one even discusses it or remembers it anymore. It predates all of the many incarnations of program. However I have been below goal for many years and stay OP every day so the proof is in the pointless pudding since no points are used in this ancient system of weight control. I truly believe that once a person has found that magical way then program is a breeze--it took me many many years.

Affirmation: I get things done! Spiritual: Focus Physical: 9,693 Steps Gratitude: Bandaids--I remember when white tape and gauze was the solution and kleenex didn't exist.
Spent most of the day working on Clair's costume for her two Halloween events and got everything 100% done. My affirmation is definitely helping!
