Affirmation: Let it all go.... Mind: Determined Body: Functional fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Happy Gratitude: Another lovely day!
I worked on the pine needle accumulation on the right side of the house today. So now I know how I rake, which is always on the same side. Also got some more limbs removed from the trees for easy access to their troughs for cleaning purposes.
Cathy: I think the entire area of universal consciousness etc is so interesting!

Affirmation: I am able to achieve my goals Mind: interested Body: slimmer Spirit: peaceful Gratitude: money to buy what I need
I think that our shopping trip took more like three than two hours and exhausted my husband. I have thought going out once and doing a lot made more sense but my sister said she had read making shorter more frequent trips is wiser as it will cut down on the chance of catching covid-19 as you go back and sanitize immediately rather than after many stops. So, we might do that in the future. Not sure what lunch will be today. It might be tabouleh and hummus ir it might be zucchini in tomato sauce with rice or pasta or something like that. I do know that my husband will have chicken and I wlil have beans for protein and the rest of the food will be fruit, veg and grain.
MICHELLE: Interesting that you sweep/rake on one side only. My side gets tired so I switch sides. I am guessing you will always have a task to do outdoors.

Affirmation: Let it all go..... Mind: Relaxed Body: Functional fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Lively Gratitude: Running water
Today I got the LR, DR and FR windows washed, screens cleaned and tracks taken care of today. Also took all items out of my yard work carry all so I could repair it. It is like a wheel barrow but has four wheels. Got it properly duct taped and then got it ready to go again.
Cathy: Is the sanitizing about your hands or the groceries? I have a bottle of hand sanitizer I keep in the side pocket of my door and use it before I touch anything in the car. I do between my fingers and also my thumbs which is a tip from DD. I also know that going shopping at the earliest is best since now that everyone is used to Covid they don't bother to get up early to go. I notice my stress level going up the later it gets as I go from store to store since more people show up the later it gets. I like the idea of more frequent trips but for me it is two hours of travel each time I go to town. I am sticking to the early departure time though which really helps.

Affirmation: I am content Mind: Positive Body: Thinking about walking Spirit: Peaceful Gratitude: Water pump to roof fixed with plenty of water in tank on roof and ground to pump to the roof
I read an interesting naval historical fiction set in the late 1700's that was about Napoleon heading to Malta and the British Navy trying to figure out what he was up to...there were spies and battles and also history. New author and well written book. I will definitely hope to get book two when it is made available for review. I didn't know or had forgotten some of the European and other alliances of the time and this refreshed my memory.
MICHELLE: I think the shopping thing is because I am seeing my husband stressed out and tired at the end of two or three hours of shopping. I think he would do better leaving at 8:30 than the usual 10:30 or 11 after he has watered the garden and done other things. We usually have a LONG list on the to-do list when we head out and it can take a long time to accomplish it. One of us usually sits in the car with the sanitizer to put into the palms of the one that goes out. When we get home we move all NEW bread to bread bags that we have saved and left in the sun since the last shopping, wash all the produce and items that need to be refrigerated, put all the other things in another room to sit and decontaminate for several days...etc. It takes time and leaving at the time we do we end up getting home tired, needing the bathroom, wanting to eat, etc, but have to clean things and counters before we can eat...and the cat also wants to eat because we usually have a treat for her, too. I think that we either have to go earlier OR we have to make a few trips throughout the week instead. I am not worried about catching the disease as such BUT did notice that my husband, tired as he was, was rather cranky and forgetting that some things were clean while others were not. Anyway...something to think about.

Affirmation: Slow and steady wins the race. Mind: Motivated Body: Functional fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Connected Gratitude: A good day cleaning my house
I worked on the K for most of the day and managed to get lots cleaned including the windows. The dust is a severe problem right now so it is challenging to keep most things clean. It's best just to dust every other day and in some places I dust daily. This cleaning was on the agenda. It took way longer than I expected.
Cathy: I completely agree about the ridiculously long days shopping and then having to get everything put away. Also, I need to guard my Serenity so that I am not a complete stressed out nutcase. This is very challenging! Such a lovely cool fall evening. Nights like this remind me of how incredibly wonderful it is to be alive.

Affirmation: Believe -> See Mind: Open Body: Moving Spirit: Peaceful Gratitude: A love for reading and books to read
Woke up to find a small zucchini, a tomato and two nectarines had gone bad overnight. I put the other peaches and nectarines into the refrigerator and will decide if any of the other can be salvaged or will become compost. The internet has been iffy the last 24 hours or so and we are not sure if it is damaged by hunters and needs fixing again OR if it is something happening all over Lebanon. It is not fun-making whatever it is.
MICHELLE: My sister said she has ash and soot everywhere. They open the windows at night and she takes walks in the bad air but she says in the yard and in the house it is gray on every surface and also in the pool. I don't know when fire season will end but it won't be soon enough for all, I am sure. I admire your willingness to clean...not really my thing BUT might join FlyLady as a 100 day personal challenge...soon.

Affirmation: Progress is definitely being made! Mind: Rejuvenated Body: Walking, Yoga, OP Spirit: Filled with joy Gratitude: There are so many birds. In the late afternoon when they feed they fly around, swirling like a bunch of butterflies it is so beautiful and magical to experience it. The quad service repairman asked me if any of my dogs were rescues. I told him no but I had a bunch of rescue birds--over 400/500 for sure. The Rock Doves line up on the 300 feet of telephone wire very close together. If they were 12 inches apart there would be 300 of them. There are way more than 300. Also true of the sparrows. This is Universe's gift to me and I am very grateful.
Cathy: It's odd how one day we see that what we have been struggling through is really a gift from Universe and then end up happy for having had the experience. I will be so glad when I can understand the pandemic from this perspective. I came to believe that I was past being able to change because of my age but I can truthfully say that this fire season has changed me and it is for the better!

Affirmation: Believe -> See
Mind: Creative Body: Moving Spirit: Peaceful Gratitude: Cooler weather and a new weight decade entered (now to work my way through the 70's)
My husband brought in a green plant called Bah-klee and asked if I like it. Thought it was watercress but looked it up and found it is purslane or hogweed or other names and a weed. I tasted a leaf and it is lemony. It can be eaten in salads or cooked dishes or sauces. I think we will have some today in a salad. We were going to have tabouleh but think a salad with purslane sounds much more interesting...maybe. My husband said he "didn't like it" as a child and only tasted it one time back then (he is 81 almost 82) but tasted it today and may rethink things. He thinks it had to do with his mother not liking the next door neighbor who DID like the green so she DIDN'T on purpose and influenced her family not to, too. Who knows?
MICHELLE: That you see the birds as a blessing instead of invaders and like rodents out to eat you out of house and home is a wonderful thing! I am so glad they found you and that you are able to sustain them while their habitat has disappeared...and that they give you joy!

Affirmation: Enthusiasm is a choice! Mind: Orderly Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Content Cathy: Glad you liked the spy novel. I enjoy those types of books written about much earlier periods in history--before electronic, cars etc. I am a FLYer and have enjoyed internet friendships about homemaking. For me, it is one of those "take what you like, and leave the rest" internet things. I have benefited greatly from time spent focusing on FLYing and do still think about many of the sayings and jargon. However I have acquired a love for all types of functional fitness which came about from my years at the gym with a trainer. I will do anything to avoid going to the gym LOL. Most especially I like having something to show for my physical activity. DH though has had the same trainer, at the same gym for 18 years. We are all different! Thank goodness.

Affirmation: Every step I take moves me closer to where I am meant to be Mind: absorbs Body: moves Spirit: shines Gratitude: Mystery meals based on produce from our garden and the gardening husband who harvests the produce
Today will be like previous days except on weekends we talk to family. Talked to our daughter yesterday and hope to talk to our son and his family today. I wonder what the granddaughters will have to say this week? Purslane, in the salad, really had non special flavor so will add more here and there when we have it. Yesterday I reviewed three books.. Wish I had seen that one of them was for a month from today so I would have read one that is this month. Ah well...read it quickly. I really liked a book titled Witchcraft Cocktails. It spoke about creating shrubs and various liquids mixing liquids enhanced with fruits and herbs that would enhance intentions, crystals, tarot, elements, ritual, spells, moderation, safety and so much more. There was just enough information but not too much AND it was a beautiful book. The photographs were gorgeous. Each drink recipe had was slotted into a season with a description, the use and how to put intention into the drink along with an advanced bit if so inclined. The photos with the drinks used gorgeous glassware and...I wished I had it to read again in real time. Might see if my daughter will buy it and bring it or send it to me at some point in time. The final book was almost like a memoir of a serial killer of the mid 17th century. It spoke about his past, present and also his killings. It was...different but well written without being gruesome. So...today may be another historical novel or two with some romance for sure! No idea what vegetables will be harvested but unless we get more tomatoes doubt we will have tabouleh today.
MICHELLE: My husband is a gardener and out watering and doing many hours of the day. He has "ideas" that create more of a hodge-podge than a manicured garden and it frustrates me to try to do much out there since what I sometimes do gets changed, dug up, etc. So...I read. I might get back out there some day. I am going to read up on the FlyLady thing. I will pick and choose and see if perhaps cleaning tasks can add to my activity while also improving the state of my house Who knows, maybe once the house is spic and span I will tackle portions of outside...the iron on all windows and iron doors ALL need painting and some interior could do with painting and tidying one area of the garden at the time might be rewarding...maybe?

Affirmation: Life is wonderfilled! Mind: Quiet Body: DOR, Yoga, OP Spirit: Placid
Cathy, I checked out the Cocktail book on Amazon. It certainly did look interesting even though I don't drink.
Today my major achievement was grooming Sam the Collie and giving him a stylish trim through out. So glad I got that difficult chore mostly done. Just need to go back and finish up a few areas but he needed to go for a walk so I stopped.

Affirmation: I love life Mind: Calm Body: Mine Spirit: Accepting Gratitude: ability to stay calm in spite of what is going on (mostly anyway). The water is NOT fixed though the fix-it man has been twice, spent money, reworked the motor, etc. He is coming again later today and we are once again watching water.
Talked to granddaughters yesterday. Heard how my son's family is doing. Cut short due to trouble with the internet coming and going...such is life here. Today I will make grape leaf casserole and use some of the tabouleh with grape leaves, grain and beans with some homemade tomato sauce then cook in the microwave.
MICHELLE: I am amazed your collie lets you brush and trim him. Maybe you started this when he was young? My main takeaway from the cocktail book was that one could infuse elements of a beverage (or food as kitchen witches do) with intention if not ritual. If you are thinking about say losing weight or gaining physical strength or healing or whatever...you can tap into the universe, use the magical properties of what you believe might help (crystals, tarot cards, god/desses, moon, son, astrology, whatever) as you create. I don't think I would go as far as she does but it was interesting. She said soda can act as the liquid if one does not drink but that could be true of water...after all...they bless water to make it holy in some churches, right? Anyway, it was a fun read...though I more skimmed than dwelt on it as I have more books to read.

Affirmation: I can do this! Mind: Relieved Body: Functional fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Connected Gratitude: My pets
Good day for me since I managed to get several appointments set and worked on removing all the little plants along the driveway before the became BIG ones.
Cathy, I think it is interesting how well Science of Mind works if I want it to. Maybe you are aware of these studies:
Dr. Masaru Emoto, a researcher and alternative healer from Japan has given the world a good deal of evidence of the magic of positive thinking. ... His experiments demonstrate that human thoughts and intentions can alter physical reality, such as the molecular structure of water.
I found this interesting because of the scientific approach. It's fun to dabble in crystals and spells, dowsing on and on. I wonder why I sink back into this humdrum world LOL

Affirmation: One on program day begets another Mind: Open Body: Active Spirit: Engaged Gratitude: Leftovers for Lunch
Nothing exciting yesterday. They figured out why the pump to the roof is not working - two parts are not the same size so they jury-rigged it to work for now and will fix it when they find the right part. A relative and some friends are in the area where a new fire has broken out. One has a farm with horses and other animals. I believe they can leave with their dogs but am not sure about the rest of the animals or their vineyard. I always hope my friends will be okay but already know some who have lost homes to fires of one type or another over the past years. I now hope that they come out the other side alive and save as many of their fur-babies as they can.
I had the timer on while doing dishes and kitchen chores...put in an hour there so am counting it as "activity" today.
MICHELLE: I had not heard of Dr. Emoto's experiments but have read fiction that has thoughts/magic creating an impact on weather, water, etc. I read one where a group focused their minds on a negative entity and it materialized (like a demon). I did look to see if his work had been replicated and it has but could not access the test results. Ah well...I sometimes believe that what we believe impacts what we see...or something like that. If I believe that the water has magical-health properties then it does. Kind of like the placebo effect. There were times my daughter and I, for fun, would focus on something and try to get it to move or do something and other times we would try the send a message/number on a card to the other person and see how many we got right/wrong. Those that "believe" in something say to send out prayers/energy to impact an issue (health, wellness, weight, weather) and if it works then great...you did it right...but if it doesn't work then...you didn't try hard enough...faith not great enough.
Anyway...I diverge. I love speculation and reading about such things and am open to the various thoughts of others. Just as there are five senses with variations in how each of us experiences them I believe there may be more than just five...and wonder how those occur and how they are passed on or acquired. Life is filled with incredible ideas to ponder

Affirmation: Focus! Mind: Inquisitive Body: Looking forward to functional fitness Spirit: Connected Gratitude: Kind people Cathy: I knew some ladies that thought they were witches. One of them could in fact lift objects by putting her hands on top of them. They were nice ladies. It was so interesting to see a TV tray table lifted by using this method. Twenty five people have lost their lives in the CA wildfires--15 of them in the fire that is near me. Most of those people decided willingly not to evacuate which is what they told their relatives. Over 10,000 hours have been spent, mostly by volunteers, searching for remains.. So sad. I watch the daily briefings by the agencies responsible for fighting this wildfire and have learned an amazing amount about wildfire behavior and tactics used to fight them. The fires in the Napa/Santa Rosa area are hard for me to follow because all I can pick up so far are news releases--fraught with high drama and emotionally inflammatory nonsense. I have learned that the reliable news comes form the agencies actually fighting the fires as opposed to the media. Those of us living in wildfire country have learned to follow the news on facebook and not on television.
Today I did my weekly shopping. I am glad that is done.
