Affirmation: I easily visualize the feelings and emotions associated with reaching my goals. Mind: Focused Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Renewed Gratitude: People who care
It was a nice enough day for me to wash windows so I got about half of them done. Also worked more on my shelf liner project. Listened to some very pleasant music. Otherwise it was just a pleasant day. I copied my affirmation from a list. I can't quite imagine seeing feeling and emotions possibly what is meant is to try to experience them. I am going to give it a good try to see what happens.
Cathy: Thanks for sharing that memory. Sometimes memories are so delightful.

Affirmation: I am on a journey through life. I live, learn, and grow as I move through time and space. Mind: Open Body: Complacent Spirit: Content Gratitude: Weekend chats with family
The sun is shining and life is good. I am finishing off my morning coffee and then will have a tangerine or two from our garden. Nothing new or different but am thankful for our place at the end of the road and glad we do not live in a bit city during this pandemic. Life is good!
MICHELLE: If I take the time and make the effort I can visualize what may happen and it can help...it might be being at goal weight again or anything that will help or hinder that happening. It is like a movie pre-run in my brain. I am glad you are content, don't know where you found the energy to clean windows! The Beirut Symphonic Band also made a trip to Jordan to play at the Jerash Festival...my children and I went. The children would not eat the cafeteria Arabic food which was...interesting. We played for Queen Noor and it was an interesting experience.
Hope we both have a lovely Sunday!

Affirmation: I easily visualize the feelings and emotions associated with reaching my goals. Mind: Purpose filled Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Powerful Gratitude: Sticking to my point of view
Today I relaxed but did manage to get three more double cupboards cleaned out, decluttered, and shelf liner in them. I tried to do my affirmation and then promptly forgot about it. Tomorrow is another day.
Cathy: I think you have such an interesting history with your children. DH and I started talking about our childhoods in a deeper way than we have in the past. It's surprising that even after many decades there's still more to hear about and learn. MY DB lives in Detroit where there is a large Arabic population. Their food needs to be cooked separate in the school cafeterias.

Affirmation: I am here Mind: open Body: accepting Spirit: aware Gratitude: being able to nap if I need to - not working a full time job
Talked to our son yesterday and the granddaughters BUT the girls were busy and more into their own thing than talking to us and our time with our son was interrupted by poor reception i Skype. Not sure what today holds in store BUT think it is another stay at home day.
MICHELLE: I agree that the past is filled with experiences that may or may not have been shared with family...sometimes forgotten or just not perrtinent. I think I have shared more with my daughter than my son. My husband pops up with new stories once in awhile. I did a road trip with my daughter to see my son and we stopped in Des Moines to see the houses I remember living in, the elementary school I went to, the art museum mom worked as a volunteer at and we took art lessons at, the pool we swam at...it was...great...and more stories came out. Can't go back and live the experiences again in real time but revisiting and sharing them with others can be fun As for the Arabic food in schools...not sure why they would need to be cooked separately. I know that some Jewish food rules for the orthodox require different killing methods and separate pots but don't think that is true of Arab foods? I am curious now

Affirmation: I easily visualize the feelings and emotions associated with reaching my goals. Mind: Determined Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Placid Gratitude: Another day on this planet
Today I continued working on the shelf liner project and got three more cupboards done.
Cathy: I like your affirmation. My DM lived in the mountains when she was a child. We took a similar road trip to go to a family reunion years ago. I learned alot more about her early life. We have advanced so far since she was a child. She remembered the first car she had ever seen. It came by railway.

Affirmation: I am a work in progress making progress Mind: focused Body: will be walking today Spirit: content Gratitude: birdsong after the rain
It is gray today but the birds seem to have enjoyed the rain. I hear one squawking and another singing. Bella is NOT happy this morning and has wanted me to come out to watch her eat three or four times already. I hope she finds a warm place to hunker down and sleep. I think we are going out to buy groceries and might pick up a chicken to eat - either rotisserie or one to boil. We will get more eggs and some produce and then should be set.
MICHELLE: I need to put shelf paper in, too, and have it but lost it and now really have to clean the shelves again so...that is a project for another day. I also have to get a tall ladder as some of the top shelves are HIGH. I remember having my mother-in-law here for awhile and at the time she was nearly ninety. She couldn't remember games she played as a girl and it made me wonder if she was able to play or was always working. My sister-in-law told me about the first time they used dish soap...before it arrived in the country they used the locally made olive oil soap for everything including washing pots and pans, clothes and their hair/body. My husband talked about the first car in the village and how it was his uncle that bought it. Sometimes when the creek overflowed the road the uncle would pick them up from school BUT if not, the bigger boys/children would put the smaller ones on their backs and wade across carrying them to the other side.

Affirmation: I easily visualize the feelings and emotions associated with reaching my goals. Mind: Renewed Body: Dog walking, Yoga, OP Spirit: Strong Gratitude: My health
Today I finished organizing the K cupboards and drawers which was quite a job. I still need to finish the shelf liner project but one of the hardest parts has been decluttering, organizing etc.
Cathy: Sometimes I try to remember back when things had not been invented yet or my family did not have them. Even a phone was something that we did not have when I was a child. Normally I see such good in advancement but I still appreciate the simplicity of less. These memories we have been talking about mean so much to me. My mother talked to me one time about having a pack of Russian Wolfhounds to protect livestock and the children from mountain lions. Just so interesting.....

Affirmation: Believe -> See Mind: Focused Body: Willing Spirit: Accepting Gratitude: hot coffee in the morning, a computer to stay connected, positive attitude
We went out to get eggs, produce and a rotisserie chicken and that was about it. We have plenty for the rest of the week...or longer. My daughter sent a photo of her all gussied up for a teleconference paper presentation and I took the photo and put it side-by-side with a passport photo of me at about the same age and sent it to her this morning. I am not sure she will see similarities but I do. Funny thing was that my husband thought BOTH photos were of our daughter and the one most like her was the one of me!
MICHELLE: My cousin has goats to keep the weeds down at his vineyard and a dog to keep the goats safe. My husband told me that as a child they built a sleeping area on the roof of their house and that the children slept up there to keep an eye on and guard their animals from hyenas and other predators. Stories of the past are always interesting You are accomplishing MUCH more than I am with the projects!

Affirmation: I easily visualize the feelings and emotions associated with reaching my goals. Mind: Fastidious Body: Functional fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Whimsical Gratitude: My family
I spent today doing homemaking items. I decided that I would go back to writing each morning before I get out of bed to see if I could get more focused on doing my affirmation. Today was the second day and I do believe I am making progress. During the course of the day I thought about the feelings and emotions I want to have or do have but am not paying attention to when I am doing my homemaking. I will keep plugging away at this!
Cathy: I got such a kick out of your photo story! Do you think you look as happy now as you did then? Just curious because when I was reorganizing I started looking through some old albums I had and hadn't really thought about who I used to be in a long time.

Affirmation: I make healthy choices Mind: Content Body: Strong Spirit: Willing Gratitude: The ability to thread a needle with the use of strong reading glasses
It is interesting to me that I don't use many recipes...or don't use them often. I usually look to see what we have then come up with something to make. Today I have cauliflower and garbanzo beans so could make rice and steamed cauliflower or try a recipe for curry or make hummus and put it in a wrap or puree the cauliflower and have it with a gravy of lentils and something else...though I don't have mushrooms and think that meal uses mushrooms. My husband avoids mushrooms as he is not sure they are not poisonouse or the vendors might not have "good" ones so doesn't even SEE them if they are out and I have mentioned I might want some. Ah well. Anyway...interesting to me about the recipes because my sister tries new recipes all the time...wonder what makes us different?
MICHELLE: Interesting that you are writing in bed first thing in the morning. Keep me posted on how that goes. As for the photo of me long ago that I compared to my daughter's...it was rather solemn. We were living in Saudi Arabia and I remember work, life on the compound, being a wife, being a mother, going to campus every day...etc. At one point the Gulf War was in the wings. I don't think I smiled as much in photos THEN as I do now. I think that happiness is relative to what is happening in one's life but also depends on the ability to focus on being happy/content and finding the good even in bad situations...or something like that

Affirmation: I easily visualize the feelings and emotions associated with reaching my goals. Mind: Responsive Body: Walking, Yoga, OP Spirit: Optimistic Gratitude: Interesting people Today was errand day for me. The weather was quite nice for a winter day so that made it more enjoyable. The only drawback is that it took the entire day by the time I got everything put away so I am glad that all of that is behind me. I bought some supplies at the hardware store to do a couple of projects which I think I will do tomorrow. However the rest of the window washing and the shelf liner project may get done first. Or maybe I will take the day off!
Cathy: The morning writing idea comes from the book "The Artist's Way" which is the one I used when I mentored an artist who was artistically blocked. She ended up getting back to producing art and I had a great time making art as we went through the chapters. The writing was called "Morning Pages" and was supposed to clear out all the "gunk" by doing a kind of free flow writing. It actually works. But I guess anything like that would work if a person wanted it to. If that make sense. Today I ended up doing a process called "Clearing the Negatives" which surprised me. It was very helpful but I couldn't figure out what feelings and emotions seemed to go along with Covid-19 shopping---the positive and happy one. As I went through the day I kept coming up blank. More work needs to be done.

Affirmation: Today is a new day Mind: Open Body: Here Spirit: Aware Gratitude: a new day
Water pipe broke on one of the basement toilets and I "fixed" it by plugging the hole with a pencil till the plumber came to close the hole. He returns today to "fix" it. Wouldn't have seen the leak if I hadn't gone down to open a door for my husband, decide to run water in the sinks and seen it when I entered the bathroom. Ugh!
MICHELLE: I think the positive feelings and emotions when shopping during the covid-19 pandemic might be: Seeing people in masks who don't get too close, finding what you are looking for and the sigh of being able to remove the mask and relax when home again.

Affirmation: I easily visualize the feelings and emotions associated with my dreams. Mind: Pensive Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Mystical Gratitude: Solitude
I was able to spend some time outside which was enjoyable and managed to get the Christmas wreath put up on the farm gate. Sam came in from his morning walk with tiny ice crystals on his whiskers which he got from huffing and puffing while running. He loves to run through the bushes and jumps over many. It really is something to see.
Cathy: So sorry about your plumbing woes. Thanks for the comments. They really helped me to get some ideas as to how to improve the shopping situation.

Affirmation: I look for the positive Mind: Aware Body: Complacent Spirit: Resting Gratitude: Beginning a new week with all weeklies still available
The plumber did not return BUT the leak was fixed and we haven't used the toilet in awhile so if he never returns that is okay, too. We talk to our daughter today and our son tomorrow. The weather is gray and it may rain. I am looking forward to the week ahead.
MICHELLE: I thought of another reason to be positive when shopping...keeping the shopkeeper in businsess. With so many going under the little bit no doubt helps when we do shop. Also, was thinking that I can smile at people behind the mask and they may not know it but I will and that will make me feel positive. I love the thought of Sam's carefree leaping over bushes as he runs!

Affirmation: As I go through my day I connect with my hopes and dreams feelings Mind: Strategic Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Reclusive Gratitude: A lovely sunset
The work continues on the shelf liner project. I got three more done today. Also painted a threshold on a door that has needed it for years and I have to say it looks 100% better. DH and I hung two mirrors. I was delighted we got those done. It seems like I am starting to catch up. Hooray!
Cathy: I agree about smiling and being openly courteous. Usually I end up chatting with the store personnel and laughing about things. I had three such conversations the last time I went shopping and they mean more to me know than before Covid. BC has to go to the vet tomorrow so I will practice my affirmation and use the ideas we have been discussing.
