Affirmation: I am young at heart! Mind: Determined Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Cocooned Gratitude: Fun times with the dogs.
I just finished a game of Cars followed by a rousing game of Dog-O-Rama. Those three dogs can really get into playing.
Cathy: We still have squirrels and a few chipmunks. So much depends on the climate conditions. Some years we will have a lot of quail and then the next year hardly any at all. This is also true for chipmunks. They are very cute and not troublesome to us. I raised little Theodore, Alvin and Simon from when they still had their eyes closed until they left home.

Affirmation: My days are filled with what I truly need
Mind: Open
Body: Healthy
Spirit: Curious
Gratitude: Friends and family
Hubby went out to exchange dollars for lira, pay a bill and buy some produce. I wouldn't go out as often as he does but it seems he LIKES to go out? The women have decided NOT to get together for cards as someone vaccinated contracted covid and died (local friend of one lady) and the news said that Pfizer vaccine is only 47% effective after six months SO a halt has been put in place for cards. I could see getting together, a distance apart, not playing cards or eating, and talking but...won't get together to play cards around a table without masks.
MICHELLE: How fun to have chipmunks and to have raised and released a few back into the wild! It is interesting that the animal population varies each year. There was a game that a 4th grade teacher had her students play where some were deer at one end of the field and at the other end of the field the students were plants. She would whistle and the "deer" would run down and grab a "plant" to take back with them. Eventually there were no more plants and the deer were kind of "gone" - can't remember how she replenished the deer in the game but do know it made the point. Maybe there were three groups and the addition were predators?

Affirmation: Slow and steady wins the race Mind: Strategic Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Peaceful Gratitude: The power came back on
I am glad I have all the items needed to make it through a power outage. But I am more glad that the power came back on before we had to use our alternate heat sources. There was a light dusting of snow on the surrounding mountains this morning. Another spectacular fall day. I just loved!!! getting outside in the very cool temps to do my daily raking.
Cathy: Those chipmunks were like little loving children. They would rear up on their hind legs and make motions with their hands to indicate that they loved us. When they left home, my husband would go out to their new living area and they would come to visit him. I have a pic of one standing on the top of his baseball hat.

Gratitude: The abundance of all that I need
Electricity wonky today...life is good...had to prepare food by hand as no electricity to puree hummus...life goes on.
MICHELLE: I love the idea of chipmunks being so friendly! How fun to have rescued, saved, and befriended them! Are any of their family still on your property?

Affirmation: Slow and steady wins the race Mind: Determined Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Whimsical Gratitude: Friends
Today I cleaned my bird feeding area and am happy to say I have been keeping it up much better so the job was easy. Also filled in some holes that were created by the dog gardeners. I am extremely grateful for these lovely fall days after the lemony summer due to months of wildfire smoke etc. This is my lemonade--being so appreciative of clean cool air and beautiful blue skies with puffy clouds floating by!!!
Cathy: I did rescue a young Chipper from the dog swimming pool one morning a few months ago. I had to sit with it to get it warmed up and recovered from the experience. Finally it hopped off my lap and went on to enjoy life.

Affirmation: I am more than what appears on the surface
Mind: Bright
Body: Healthy
Spirit: Tenacious
Gratitude: Weekend chats with family
Talked to our daughter last night and hope to talk to our son and his family tonight. There was a naughty mosquito buzzing my ear last night and as we had no electricity after 1am found myself under the blanket, too hot, wishing it would go away. If there is electricity then the vape mat and fan deter the buzzing bugs...will put sheets on and ditch the duvet for now as it is too hot hunkered under blankets with face covered! I have white beans soaking and will cook a bag of them to freeze, use in soup, or make other meals with.
MICHELLE: How marvelous to feel you are keeping up with the yard chores. You made me smile with the dog gardeners "assisting" you. How marvelous to have been able to save a chipmunk in the pool...I used to find birds dead in the duck pool...if the ducks found them too big to swallow...

Affirmation: Slow and steady wins the race Mind: Quick Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Steadfast Gratitude: Color
Frost on the grass this morning and it was supposed to snow tomorrow but apparently the small storm moved off in a different direction. However today was another wonderful fall day. I did get all of the summer decorations put away and am glad about that.
Cathy: I have never heard of a vape mat and tried it look it up but just found information about a type of smoking which is obviously unrelated to the item you use. I wonder if our minds and spirits are improved by the words that we choose to describe them since we are focusing on certain factors instead of just aimlessly wandering.

Affirmation: I enjoy life's surprises Mind: Open Body: Strong Spirit: Healthy Gratitude: Talking with family on the weekend
Nothing exciting to share...well...there is. The electricity is back so they pumped water today and our tank is full again. We did laundry because we had electricity and water both. It is the little things in life that are wonderful sometimes!
MICHELLE: I think the words we use do make a difference just as how we choose to see what is happening around us.

Affirmation: Slow and steady wins the race Mind: Confident Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Calm Gratitude: A house to be inside on stormy days
Buttercup lost her ball in the bushes so she and I started looking for it. Clair will also join in and knows that the object of the search is to get the ball. For some reason Sam showed up and started trying to find something but he didn't know what. After a while he looked completely perplexed. It was so cute.
Cathy: I find it so interesting how different people view the same situation in totally different ways. I like to say to myself "That's behind me", meaning that whatever it was is no longer in my life so it no longer exists. Adopting this way of looking at rather unpleasant experiences changed the way I perceive reality.
I enjoyed what you had to say about the little things in life!

Affirmation: I am in charge of my choices
Mind: Focused
Body: Healthy
Spirit: Strong
Gratitude: Being able to make do with what I have in the closet...it is like a treasure hunt
I am enjoying finding outfits to wear in the closet. I have a huge suitcase of too large things that I might work on later to alter OR might not. It is interesting to see what works at over 200 pounds and at under 160...
MICHELLE: I love that Clair was helping find Buttercup's ball (did you find it?) and that Sam wanted to help but was perplexed about what the hunt was on for...did he find anything? ALSO, I like thinking of putting things behind and moving forward. I also will revisit them if they have been educational in the past but not linger over them.

Affirmation: Slow and steady wins the race Mind: Clarity Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Free Gratitude: The ability to rake and enjoy it.
I continue to plod on working on my piled up Paper Tiger items. I was making good headway but have had to stop to do a project for my husband and am hoping that they will not languish again. My raking continues! We had a major wind event which gave me quite a large number of pine needles to rake up. Today I got La Mariposa done and tomorrow I will tackle La Fiesta.
Cathy: I find all posts about clothing to be extremely interesting! It will fun when you go on your shopping spree. We didn't find Buttercup's ball but she showed up later with it in her mouth so apparently she did some more investigating.

Affirmation: My time is my own
Mind: Focused
Body: Healthy
Spirit: Strong
Gratitude: The ability to create meals from what is available AND a belt to keep my pants up
I had many options for food today: Mexican bowl with beans and bulgur or potato, deconstructed stuffed vegetables, baked potato topped with chili, leftover soup with veggieburger, pasta with hummus sauce, hummus wrap...so many options! It is fun to create and to see what there is and come up with a way to prepare then eat it! As for clothes...I am wearing the inbetween jeans that are too big but won't fall off immediately and are helped with a belt. I am home so nobody will see me but my husband and that is fine. I will probably eventually put them into the donate bag BUT will wear them till then.
MICHELLE: I love that Buttercup found her ball. I wonder if she HID it on purpose so she could show up later with it to show how smart she is? Do you have various sections of your property labeled as La Fiesta, et? How many areas do you have like that?

Affirmation: Get it done! Mind: Focused and productive Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Protected Gratitude: The internet
Slow going again today working on revamping office paperwork procedures but progress is getting made. It was warmer so raking today was not so much of an endurance experience. I got all of the pine needles from La Fiesta deposited in the hole which I think I might call Pine Needle Haven.
Cathy: The areas on either side of the house are named since they have those gigantic pine trees that I anguish over and water meticulously in the summer. I named them La Fiesta and La Mariposa to make it more fun for me and it worked. Also they have summer decorations to go along with their names. The firebreak around the property line is named. Since it is kind of a square each side had its own name such as Sunrise Trail and Sunset Trail. This gives us a way of quickly describing where certain things are. Buttercup forgets where she left her ball and then later when I am working she comes along with it in her mouth and lets me know it is time to play ball, or else. The "or else" being some very loud barking.

Affirmation: Believe -> See
Mind: Open
Body: Healthy
Spirit: Wise
Gratitude: Positive Attitude...Pollyanna outlook on life...at least most of the time and only if realistic.
The situation here is as usual...not great and there were demonstrations in Beirut and shooting and death and who knows what else have been happening. I don't listen to the news so stay more positive than I otherwise would. I have books to read and cursive and calligraphy to enjoy and hemmed a pair of pants so...focusing on what I *can* do rather than what I cannot. My sister heads to Sacramento in the morning and has her surgery on Friday...positive energy are wending her way with strong visualization that the cysts and fibroids will be removed and all will be benign.
MICHELLE: Pine Needle Haven would be the perfect name for the hole...I love that you re able to understand what your dogs want...and they communicate with you so well...who was the doctor that could talk to the animals...Dr. Doolittle? My husband wants me to open a document from his email and save it to his desktop to read later BUT I can't find the document he wants so...am waiting for him to find it...if he can.

Affirmation: Get it done! Mind: Focused and productive Body: Functional Fitness,Yoga, OP Spirit: Searching Gratitude: My vision
Another day in Paradise for me. More raking of course but this time inside the formal yard around our home. I tackled a couple of planters and then deposited the items in Pine Needle Haven. I have mounds of pine needles in there that look like little haystacks. I certainly could be more creative about my dumping by placing certain types of plant material in certain places on and on. I do like my not so little haystacks though.
Cathy: Great point about focusing on what can be done. It made me think about growing older gracefully. Sometimes I just decide that it is time to let something go and then do that cheerfully. Also sending positive vibes for your sister.
