Good morning all- Its me and I am not a guest. Do not understand what happened here- but I had trouble leaving a post and then difficulty putting the start and end dates of the week. Not sure why all that took place....and then when I wanted to just respond (which is what I am doing now) I found I was logged out of the site automatically. I am confused. It might be that last night I accepted a software update, Who knows. I did want to get back to wish everyone a good morning, especially CJ who I had not had the chance to chat with at all yesterday.
CJ- think you are also in the vicinity of a large metro area. To find the create channel, I had to go to their web page and search with my zip code. Because I am in the marketing area of a large metro area we have probably 7 or 8 different PBS stations that are possibilities. Only one of those lessor stations carries Create. And I totally agree, we are a forgotten demographic. With the exception of the excessive amount of life alert and stair lift ads, no one seems to know we exist. Hope that you made some progress on straightening up your sewing area. Agreed, its a daunting task.
Ruth, yes we saw some lovely fall foliage yesterday. And while perhaps not the most practical place, that farm house sounds adorable.
Ok- Dh is up. BBL Ginny

We're having three nice days before more rain and snow.
Maggi just drank my coffee. Three of the woofers enjoy it whenever I'm not paying attention. Usually there's not much left when they get to my mug. At the moment three woofers are draped across my recliner.
After my chiropractor appointment I stopped at the hardware store and the grocery store. I have to stop by three banks tomorrow. Our accounts are at one bank, my sister's accounts are at another. The third has the HOA accounts. They are all in easy locations for me. Ordinarily I can go for months without going near a bank, so this is highly unusual.
Tomorrow I have an appointment with the podiatrist. I hope he has some good ideas about what to do with my big toe. Something that won't require surgery! Between the tendon pulling it into an awkward position, the remainder of the toenail that is still ingrown, and a bone spur, it's driving me crazy.
Lots of geese in the fields when I was out this morning. This is a major stopover, sometimes for weeks, sometimes for days.

Hello Crafters Ginny - I wondered who had hijacked our thread Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the fall foliage. About the Create channel - it is offered by my provider but I don't have the HD cable connection that allows it to be a network on my cable package. I already pay a fortune for cable and don't want to bother with adding any other channels or buying an HD TV. Sue - Sounds like you had a busy day, I'm glad you were able to get a bunch of errands taken care of. Hope the podiatrist can help you tomorrow. Ruth and Phyl - Hope you are getting in some crafting. It's a beautiful day here - sunny and in the 70s. The fence company called and they are coming tomorrow. I'm hoping they can finish in one day, but it sounds like it might stretch to 2 days. Of course, it's going to rain on Wednesday, so they would have to wait until Thursday to come. I'll just be glad to get it done and get to enjoy the new split rail wood fence around the front yard for however long I stay in the house. I went out earlier and took down some cords I'd been using to hold up some of the rails and I just remembered I didn't get them all so I need to go back out. I also had to take down a sign for a Day School Nursery that my father had let the business put on the fence by the road that runs beside my house. The school is back down the road. I had a tough time getting the screws out of the wood fence, that sign has probably been there close to 15 years. I'll need to call the school and see if they just want the sign back or if they want to try to put it back up once the fence is installed. I don't really mind if they do since the sign is not visible when I look out the front of my house. I just want to make sure it's put back up right and doesn't split the wood. I wish I didn't worry about things like this so much, but I've always had a lot of anxiety about things. I'm just glad when they are done Take care everyone!

Sue, simply amazing what our furbabies pick up when we are not looking. I have made a large glass of herbal iced tea, leaving it out to steep just a moment longer only to find that the queen bee cat here has decided that my herbal iced tea tastes pretty good. Well, at least you were almost done with the coffee. Best of luck with the podiatrist tomorrow! Sounds like a somewhat complicated situation but then as the human body works, well sometimes they are all connected and can be resolved together. It would sure be nice to avoid surgery. Or if that is necessary, then it would be nice to fix all 3 issues at once. I would imagine knowing that your Dh needs a lot of help, makes you even less willing to have surgery. But do what you need to do to take good care of yourself. Its important.
CJ- no the thread did not get hijacked this morning by aliens. I had some trouble with the site this am, It could be my IPad, or the site or both. Anyway we are up and running for the week. Despite some agita. That sign for the school sounds like a nice gesture, but its their headache. And honestly they should be the ones to take their sign down. So glad that they are coming tomorrow to repair/replace your fence. I hope it turns out great and even better than you envisioned. Do not blame you for worrying about it all....Dh and I are already concerned about our roof which will be done either next week or the following week. You hope when you hire a contractor that they know what they are doing. (We have used this contractor before).
No crafting yet today- but I did go through the tub of fabric that my neighbor gave me to take if I wanted some. I did take 2 pieces of fabric and will return the rest to her. She used to do some quilting years ago Ginny

Well it sounds as though everyone is having some kind of construction work done but me. I could use some believe me but I'm not having it done. Having a new roof is stressful. My neighbor just had a new one put on and it took quite some time. When ours was being done I was out of town so dh was here to have the headaches. Ours too all week. I do hope your fence replacement goes well CJ. We do have to worry or at least be concerned that the're going to do it correctly. Phyl, I'd love to have this tub taken out of my bathroom and a walk in shower installed. Is that what you're having? I'm hoping to have one in my "new" house. We're still looking and need ds to go and tour the houses we're interested in but he's been busy this past week and is maybe rethinking how much fun he said it would be to take a couple of the kids and go look at houses for us. I haven't done any crafting today so far until just a couple minutes ago when I picked up the scarf I'm now making for a grandaughter who will have a birthday in the beginning of Nov. I think I mentioned that ds said that she likes infinity scarves so Im making her two of those and I've already made her the v scarf. Then I realized I hadn't posted here today so I put it down and here I am Now I need to go wrap the birthday gifts for dggd#1. I still haven't taken them to her and we're going to dd's house tomorrow. Grandaughter and two dggds live with her so we'll see them all and give her her long awaited gifts.

morning, yes Ruth that is what is being done. for awhile I was having a problem getting our of the tub.depending if I took a shower or bath. sometimes in the tub I could not get my one leg under me to get out. sometimes getting out was my left foot would want to catch on the tub.
I seem to be ok now. still think with all the arthritis and other back problems a person may have, if it needs to be done do it now.do not wait till it just has to be done.
take a while to get the workers a time when they can do the job, materials to be ordered if need be. people don't think about those things.
course buy already made to go is a option if you can find what you like.
well time for met to get going on house hold chores. phyl

Phyl, you mentioned you were dismissed from PT. Does that mean you are done with it? When is the plumber coming to evaluate the tub to shower switch?
Ruth , yes a walk in shower sure would be an asset or at least the ability to have one quickly installled. Hope that Ds, who you had mentioned was working a lot too gets a Break and can check out homes for you and Dh. Sure sounds odd, you having a day in which you are. Or crocheting!
The same company who will be doing our roof just completed a roof on a historical home not too far from ours. It took them 2 days and it was a much more difficult roof than ours. I figure our roof will take no more than 2 days.
Babysitting right now, so no chance to work on any crafting. Dh and I are going to run some errands after this, so it will be a long day.
Take care all Ginny

Hello Crafters Ginny - I hope your roof replacement goes well. I know I was nervous the whole time they were working on my roof. Mine is pretty small and they finished it in one day. I've seen them take two days for the larger roofs in the area. Phyl - I hope things go well with your tub/shower replacement. I've often thought about getting that, or at least a tub replacement. I have trouble lifting my legs over the tub to get in now (knee problems). I dream of having a walk in shower at the new house I'll probably never find Ruth - Hope you have a wonderful time tomorrow with family and that they enjoy the gifts, I'll be anxious to hear if they do. Sue - Hope the weather is good there. The fence guys came around 8:00 this morning and they are about finished up and it's 3:00. I'm so happy they were able to get everything done today since it's a beautiful day here and we're supposed to have rain tomorrow. The new wooden split rail fence around the front yard looks so pretty after that seeing that old one for so many years falling down in places. My lawn guy stopped by earlier and picked up the two tillers I was giving him. My father used them for his garden years ago and I don't even know if they still work, but he was welcome to them and they are out of one of the sheds so it's all good. While he was here he cut out two "trees" that have been growing up in my lilac bush, so I was happy to get that done. I'm also having my lawn guy paint the rest of my chain link fence along the road that runs beside my house. At least it will look "newer" to match the new fence in the front. Take care everyone!

HI, THE UPSTAIRS IS ALL CLEANED AND BACK IN ORDER. THE BASEMENT SEWING AREA IS SO CLUTTERED TO WORK WILL HAVE TO WORK ON THAT AFTER BUMIN TOMORROW,THURSDAY AM BEFORE GOING TO NITA'S.
THEN MAYBE FRIDAY I CAN DUST AND DON CAN VACUUM.
I HAVE NO ROOM TO SEW IF I WANTED TO.. NEED A CLEAN AREA. SURE MADE A MESS GETTING READY FOR THE FREE MOTION CLASS. WHY DO WE DO THAT TO OURSELVES?
NOT SURE WHEN THEY WILL DO THAT BATHROOM. THE COMPANY THEY ORDERED THE ACRYLIC FROM DOES NOT CUT TILL THEY GET THE ORDER.
THINK SOME STUFF IS COMING FROM CALIFORNIA.
THINK THIS LOCAL BUSINESS HAS THEIR OWN PLUMBER.ALL INCLUDED IN THE PRICE.
WE WILL PROBABLY GET A CALL OUT OF THE BLUE ONE DAY.
YES WE ARE HAVING THE TUB TAKEN OUT. ONE BUSINESS SAID MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE DOING THAT.ALSO WALL PAPER IS OUT.
DON HAS ALWAYS BEEN AGAINST THE WALK IN TUBS. THEY TAKE 64 GALLONS OF WATER. EVEN THE GAL WE ARE WORKING WITH IS AGAINST THEM .DON'T REMEMBER WHY.
EVEN WITH A WALK IN YOU CAN HAVE A SHOWER HEAD UNIT PUT IN. PHYL

Hello to all. I'll never remember all I wanted to say in response to that all of you have posted so forgive me. We got home not long ago from dd's house. We went over and they weren't home so we went grocery shopping, dollar store and big lots to pass time and then went back. I got in my baby holding time and my great grandaughter hug and kiss so it made my day. Dggd didn't seem too impressed with the doll I crocheted for her but she liked the other gifts. I think her favorite thing though was some foam blocks that I found in an old box of toys I found while rummaging.
CJ I'm glad that the fence will be finished today and that it looks so good. I'm sure your lawn guy is happy with the tillers. Even if they are not currently functioning as they should, he should be able to get them going again or use the parts. It's good that your lawn guy seems to be a handyman also.
Ginny, I'm glad to hear that the roof probably won't take long. Ours took a long time because they quit early every day to go drink. Turned out that my son in law knew him
Phyl, I know it's a great feeling having everything cleaned and organized. Yes you can do the basement tomorrow or the next day. I think a walk in shower is such a good idea and I'd never have one of thse walk in tubs either. I worked with them in the hospital back in NY and, as you said, they used a LOT of water plus the person had to sit in the tub until all that water drained out. I'm like a walk in shower for people that visit such as my sister. She can't get in and out of a tub because her knees are so bad so had to do only sponge baths while here visiting. I need to clean my "office" because I'm buried in yarn when I sit here

Good morning all,
CJ- I am so very happy for you that the new fence is in and looks great. A big relief getting those two rototillers out and away- even if the landscaper is not able to restore or salvage them the metal in the equipment is worth a lot and will be useful to someone. Most of those folks who do landscaping are pretty handy with that kind of equipment. As far as a walk in shower goes, well both Dh and I had to deal with that issue with our elderly mom’s. For both of them we installed grab bars which basically bolted on the tub rim to provide extra stability while getting in and out of the tub for a shower or bath. And even using a shower chair, with a hand held extension of your Existing shower head might help. I think for less than $300 you can purchase the grab bar, shower chair and shower extension head, all of which are easy to install. Its just a way to help you stay safe in your present home until you are able to find a new home. Hope that your newly painted fence looks great too!!!
Ruth, well, its slightly disappointing that DGGD did not adore that cute doll that you put so much effort into. Perhaps it was just yesterday and today she might like it! Kids are funny and fickle. How is DGGD#2 doing? She is about 2 months old, am I right? (And I could be wrong too, for as wacky as my brain is she could be in college by now). Its a good feeling that DGGD liked the other toys you brought to her- gets the stuff out of your house and into good use. Well my office is not buried in yarn, but for a woman like you who crochets so much it makes sense. I can imagine its hard to keep things organized now- you need to have room for items to take with you, leave in place, give to Dd or donate/throw out. Must make for a lot of confusion, but I suspect you are more organized than I am. How is the house hunting going?
We got home late last night- a very full day of babysitting and then we went to see Downton Abbey (the movie) last night. Our oldest Dd gave Dh a gift certificate for the theater and Dh and I have a tough time finding a movie we both want to see. Downton Abbey was excellent.....what a study of personalities and the quirks of human nature. (CJ you might enjoy it, as I know you are an Anglophile to some extent). The movie moves quickly and while I frequently get bored in movies (even action films cause I find them stupid) this has so many layers of plot that it is absolutely not boring.
Think we are in for heavy rain today. Want to get one errand done and get a walk in. Maybe some time looking at my quilt and getting back into that.
Oh, Phyl! Thanks for the info on the Christmas movies...yes, I do believe that its that time of year again. Think I will download the Hallmark channel app to keep track of all the movies. Think I would all the company to get a guesstimate of when they might be working on your bathroom. It would be nice to know that and to assure that they are not planning on coming to renovate your bathroom on Thanksgiving morning. Ha ha ha
Hi to Sue....think she had a podiatrist appointment which I hope gave her some good treatment ideas for her particular issues Ginny

godo morning, Choney is right about grab bars. Don put two on the tub wall for me about 2 years ago.a short one for hanging on getting in and out of the tub and shower..
a longer one so I can pull myself out of the tub. should have had that one put down a little lower.
these bars will go to Don's shower when the new shower unit is put
there are all kinds of shower chairs. some can be built in. I will have a built in chair. not like the one that matches the wall unit.the one I am having is built in with a white seat.I can raise the seat when done.this is the one that felt the most comfortable to me.
Marge is against Those benches that are not attached. they can move on you well any loose shower chair can move on you.
there is one that can fit over the edge of the tub and meet the wall.that might be a good one. then you can put in on the tub anywhere you want. oon line and check out shower chairs. good grief you wil lbe amazed .phyl
