Sue, gee you have had some nasty winter weather already and its still fall! Good idea using a ski pole to help you stay balanced.. So glad that you got to quilting ok. I agree with Ruth that yarn sounds so very pretty a stunning color combination. Did you order a box of samples....was this particular yarn one you asked for? I am sure you will find a wonderful pattern to work on with it. It sounds so soft.
Ruth, glad you are getting the potholders done. I figure that the reason you did not complete the Viking hats was because you were busy planning Ds’s visit...and well life just catches up to us all now doesn’t it? You have a good memory regarding the binding for the tree skirt. I already ordered the binding for this one got it on a sale at Joanns when they had free shipping.
Time to go play with fabric Ginny

Hello Crafters Sue - Hope some of that snow melts, I'm glad you were still able to get out for your quilting. Ginny - The bible cover sounds like a wonderful gift. Ruth - Hope you are making progress with some of your other projects after the finishing the potholders. Phyl - I'm glad you are getting the new shower in a few weeks, I'm sure it will be a big help. We had strong storms here last night and after temps in the 70s yesterday, it's in the 50s today. It is a nice sunny day though. Thanks for all your thoughts and concerns for me. I felt better last night and today is the first day this week without a headache. I've read that some migraines can be caused by barometric pressure changes and I've often thought some of mine were caused by weather, so it might have been that. Hopefully whatever was causing them has passed. There's a quilt show about 60-90 minutes from where I live this weekend. I've thought about going to it, but with being sick this week I wasn't sure. I wouldn't want to get away from home and not feel good. I'll see how I feel tomorrow and then maybe I might go on Sunday. It would be nice to get out of the house and go somewhere, sometimes I get sick of staying here all the time and then other times I just don't want to go anywhere Take care everyone and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

CJ, well it’s great news to hear that you’re feeling better! gotta admit I was a bit concerned and as I had mentioned I know there is a nasty upper respiratory infection circulating. Makes sense to me that weather and changes in barometric pressure could cause headaches. And this weather change was dramatic, I have seen a 30 degree shift in temperature with a huge change in humidity. Bet your area is similar. Hope you feel well enough to get to the quilt show, but it sounds like a long drive. Lots of times I am just as happy to stay home too. You Will do what’s best for you tomorrow when you make your final decision. Have a good night

good morning, We have a baby girl next door.Born 8 am on hall-o-ween day. Molly and baby will come home today.everything went well.
I will wait a couple of weeks before going over. like to give mama and baby sometime.mmmm! wonder how the pets are going to take to baby. 3 cats and a dog.
still thinking about the baby quilt. might just make a new top and leave out the batting and just use flannel on the back. the one that is finished is so heavy.
I will leave out the batting.
today we will go and get my machine. the machine has been in their shop 21 days.excuses are they has been busy and they went to quilt market.
she was going to fix it.
that is when I raised holy hell. they fixed it and left a message I could pick it up today.
told them I needed it for a quilt retreat this week..
for mirgrain headaches is to stay away from anything with artifical sugars.
Theresa get a bad headache if she has a
need to get on with my day. artfical sugars.when I was going to bible study, the coach was telling us about her dd and migrain headaces. told Dawn to tell her to get off of anything with a.s.. GUESS SHE WAS DRINKING ALOT OF DIET SODA.
it has helped. phyl

Good morning all. It's a little warmer today and Tues is to be 43 and sunny so I'll have no excuse to avoid going to doctor and the library to print out something I need printed. Have a few other business matters I have to take care of too so next week may be busy but while waiting in waiting rooms, etc I can always crochet.
CJ, I'm glad you're feeling better. Yes changes in barometric pressure can cause all kinds of problems and migranes is one of them. I'm sure your'e very relieved to have a day with no headache.
Phyl, congratulations to the new parents. As far as blanket goes, parents are told not to use blankets except for "tummy time" on the floor. So if your blanket is heavy it would be perfect for that and if it's light it can be a wonderful decorative touch for the baby's room or for the mom to put over the baby (and herself) while sitting up doing nightime feedings or for over the baby in a car seat both in the car and in stores, church. etc/

Happy Saturday all. Phyl- yes I have heard the same thing about blankets....but to put over a baby in a stroller or a car seat (where they will be attended constantly) well I think its a great idea. And to eliminate batting and use a flannel back would make it nice and snugly anyway. So glad you got your machine back, but so sorry it took forever for them to get it back to you!!
Have not heard from CJ yet- I wonder if she made it to the quilt show?
Ruth, I figure you gave me the weather forecast so I will not nag you endlessly about going to the doctor. In the past I too have had to go to the library to print stuff out. Are they far from each other? Yes, that is the one thing that is wonderful about crochetting, its so portable! I was texting with my sister in law (the crochetter) and she mentioned how I like quilting and she likes to crochet. If I were done with the BOM and the other two Christmas deadline items I would be thrilled to crochet. I miss it....but you keep up all the good work for me, ok? I suspect you are better with a crochet hook than I am anyway.
Errands today and I went to the store. Dd#1 and I are supplying meals for SIL, who will start chemo on Monday. Looks like tomorrow after church I will be busy cooking to take over there on Monday.
Another cold night here, but the days are nice and sunny. Hey, here on the east coast we get an extra night of sleep tonight. Boy am I looking forward to that... got a bit of a headache, so I just took some Tylenol. Back later I hope Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you're having a good day Ginny - Sounds like you are having a busy weekend. It's nice that you can take some meals over for your SIL and family, I'm sure that will be helpful for them. Ruth - Hope you can get your appointments done this coming week. Phyl - I think a baby blanket would be a really nice gift. I do limit the diet sodas I drink, especially compared to years ago. But I do have a few Equals in my hot tea each day. Since I've been doing that for years, I hope the migraines don't come from that. Especially since I found a few good deals on Equal and have several boxes of it in my cabinet Sue - Hope the weather is a bit warmer there and no more snow. I didn't go to the quilt show and don't plan to go tomorrow. It's just too much driving for me at this time and I don't feel up to it. I'm sad about that because I would love to take a little day trip, but maybe I'll still go out one day. It was a beautiful sunny day here, with temps in the 50s. It went into the 30s last night, so I guess we are into the colder weather for sure now. I wish they didn't change the time twice a year, I wonder if it even makes any difference these days. I'm glad though that I'm not still working and having to drive into or home from work in the dark, I hated those days. Take care everyone!

Same here CJ. There are some craft shows I'd like to go to but I just don't want to bother. I don't even know when the big one and a shopping center here is and it's not far away but I'm sure I won't go. I hope when they have another you can find someone to go with you. It makes it much more enjoyable that way.
Well last week my son was on his way to work and a deer ran into his car. Now this week my garbage bin ran into my car.I wasn't happy about it but no choice to accept it. I'm just thankful that ds wasn't hurt when the deer ran out and into him. They can cause serious damage and injury. His car was totaled not because of obvious damage but because some major parts were damaged. There was a woman who was a patient at the hospital I worked in in NY who hit a deer which then came thru her windshield and caused her life threatening injuries mostly to her head and neck. Another reason I don't drive at night if I can avoid it.
I still haven't got to work on my finishing needs for my Christmas and birthday gifts. Gotta get busy on that.I keep saying that but don't do it. I will get them done this week for sure although it's going to be a busy week with going to the doctor, library for printing, going for car estimate and then maybe to have it repaired.Probably will have to go to get some groceries one day too.I have a few things I need to do before going out too so that I can take care of other business too while out.
Ginny that is so great of you and your dd to take food to your sil and her family.I'd be at a loss as to what to take. People at work always used to provide food for coworkers who had illness or death in the family but I'd always send dessert because I never knew what to send as far as a meal. I do remember when my ds and dil had their 3rd baby. My ds' study partner and his wife sent a wonderful shrimp salad. Only problem was that none of us like shrimp and we felt bad that he wasted his money on something that never got eaten.A lot of the people at work would send lasagna. I couldn't send that because I know I'd make it too spicy. If I sent food I'd probably send a meat and cheese tray.Maybe now I'd send a breakfast casserole that you make the night before and bake in the morning. It could be sent all made up in the casserole dish...disposable of course...with directions on oven temp and time to bake it.
Don't mind me...I just like to babble

Good morning, CJ- how did you fare with the time change?? For many it really messes up their day- even for a week or so as the body adjusts to an hours difference. (Simply amazing how one hour change can make such a difference!). there is a petition out there to eliminate daylight savings. Many do agree with that concept of eliminating the time change. Totally agree with you about the quilt show. As nice as it sounds its a lot of driving, unless you had someone to share the ride or the driving with. Perhaps there will be another quilt show or a Christmas fair that is easier to get to. Either way you’ ll do what is best for you. I bet you are glad that we are out of the hot weather and into cooler temps! I use a sugar free sweetening in my tea too...
Ruth, gee your Ds had a close call! I am glad he is ok, and well the car? Yes its a nuisance but that is why we have insurance policies. Its a blessing that he is ok A car can be replaced.Looks like your week will be a busy one. Yes, a breakfast casserole is a great idea for a meal to take over. The problem is Dh is not a big fan of those, and he would not want me to take over something that he does not himself consider good. So I am making chicken pot pie, homemade bread , homemade applesauce and glazed carrots.
Got nursery in church this am and then I suppose a day of some cooking. I’ll be making double of everything so that tomorrow, my long babysitting day, I will have my dinner done from todays efforts. Think SIL’s chemo begins tomorrow.
Got more of the sashing put on. Today will attach the side blocks, so at least the quilt center is all one piece. I hope. Ginny

Good morning Ginny and all who come in later
Ginny, a chicken pot pie sounds like a great idea and in fact I may have to make one also.Mostly dh likes me to just make the filling in a pan then put it over biscuits instead of actually making it into a real pie so I would say that it's more like chicken a la king rather than a pot pie. What do you top your's with? Do you use actual pie crust. Anyway that whole meal you mentioned sounds wonderful. And I do hope you are able to get to some of your sewing. I forgot to mention yesterday that you said I'm better at crocheting. Well that remains to be seen. You've been so busy with all your crochet projects that you just haven't been able to crochet lately but I do think that you're good at it.
Speaking of crochet I watched another youtube video of the apine stitch and made a headband with the stitch. I've tried that stitch twice this past week and it didn't look right...maybe it was more than twice... I'm pretty persistent. But this time it worked well. She has a whole different way of making it which turns out really nice. Then I also watched a video on a really unique way of joining earwarmers to make a twist and no seam. It's fantastic and I think it's going to be something my grands are going to like as they seem very popular with the young women in the fb crochet groups. I got the earwarmer done except for the joining part which I will do in a minute or so.Personally I don't care much for the twisted look but as I said, they seem popular with the young crowd.
Meanwhile dh is already planning on what he's going to do in this current home we're looking at even though our ds hasn't checked it out for us yet so I'll be back to packing things for a possible trip and a few months stay there. It seems harder to think of all the things a person needs to take for a second home than to do a whole move. Of course they probably have a walmart and Dollar General fairly close. LOts of Dollar Generals in that area of the country it seems. So, as you see, I'm already there too in my mind only
Got so much to do this week. I'm so used to having nothing I really have to do that when I have a lot "on my plate" as they say, it's challenging
So off to prepare for the week ahead

Hello Crafters Ruth - I'm sorry to hear about your DS's accident and glad that he is O.K., but that's too bad about the car. Also, hope your car wasn't damaged by that out of control trash bin Ginny - Hope you were able to get the cooking done, your food choices sound great. I've heard that the Chicken Pot Pie at Costco is really good. It's so big though I could never buy it since it would be too much for to eat. The one time I bought a rotisserie chicken there it took me days to eat it, it was so big. It's another sunny, cool day here. I woke up this morning with my nose a bit stuff and tickling. I've taken some OTC allery/cold medicine and hopefully I won't get a full cold. Since I haven't been out of the house since this past Monday, the only germs I'm exposed to is the mail each day and I try to wash my hands after opening it. I've been checking out the blogs at the Slow Sunday Stitching website and enjoying seeing all the pretty projects people are working on. I'm trying to decide if I want to add more hand quilting to the project from the class. The design I stitched is small, about 6 inches by 6 inches and it's on a 18 inch square of fabric, so I could easily add some other stencils to quilt around the square. Take care everyone!

CJ, I hope that you’re feeling better! Perhaps it’s allergy, or just a mild cold which I hope is all that it is. Sorry that you’re not feeling well. Was the OTC medication that you took able to help you feel better? What kind of quilting have you done on your Square from class? Have you done specific designs or just a random pattern? I think it’s a great size project for you to practice on and get even better at your quilting skill. All in all it sounds like it was best that you didn’t go to that quilt show this weekend. Feel better!!!
Ruth , The twisted headband sounds like a really lovely project. And I’m sure it will be left by your granddaughters. I would suppose when people make these that they post pictures. So you can see how they turn out. It Hass to be difficult, and a little confusing not knowing what to pack her not to pack what you will need to maintain a second home. Will your son have a chance to look at this house? Yes, as long as there’s a dollar tree and Walmart not too far you can do pretty well getting things set up. I remember from taking our youngest daughter shopping for their appointment after they got married. We were able to get a lot accomplished in Walmart.
I heard from my brother-in-law, and my sister-in-law is really not able to eat. She goes for chemo tomorrow, and they’re hoping by Thursday she’ll be able to take in some food. I’m sure the hospital will give her fluids and some sort of supplement tomorrow when she is there. Anyway I’ll be making that same meal, but delivering it on Thursday. Yes I make a pie crust for the top of my chicken pot pie. I prefer dumplings, but Dh likes a piecrust. Oh and for CJ it’s an easy recipe that she could make in a smaller batch, and use the weight watchers recipe with flour and Greek yogurt for a top crust, and it would come out really well.

OK, I hit send too quickly and didn’t even get a chance to proofread what I have up there. I did get to put most of the rest of the Sashing on and once I finish these two long seems my quilt top will be one piece. It’s missing the side Sashing and it’s missing the corners of the border, but I’m getting there!

Cj, sorry you're now feeling what feels like the beginning of a cold. I hope the otc's do the trick. I thought of you last night when I put on the tv and saw that Holiday baking show was on. It was last years and I didn't really watch but had it on for company as I crocheted.
Ginny, If you're saying that your sil is having trouble swollowing food, well I don't know how long it takes for the chemo to correct that. I hope not long. I was wondering if she's able to drink liquids because ensure has a max protein one that should be pretty nutritions and also Premier protein. Could be that she also has no interest in food right now beside swollowing problems, and chemo pretty much depresses the appetite. I know there's something that can help that but don't know if it's legal in your state. It isn't in mine.It also helps nausea and from what patients have told me it works better than the meds we give for nausea.
Your quilt is going to be amazing when it's done. are you still making the pot pie for your own family for tomorrow? My dh was just talking about beef stew and told me that biscuits with it would be good. He does like things poured over biscuits. I've only ever made dumplings a couple times and that was years ago and the were made with Bisquick. They turned out to be very good but I always remember my mother talking about how hard it was to make dumplings. I don't remember ever having any as a child.
Oh and something nice happened today. You all remember the problems I had after buying my 4wh drive vehicle and that I found out the neighbor's son ws the former owner. Well he came over today and brought a trailer hitch that he had bought for that truck. While he was here I told him about the car dealer I bought it from telling me they would help with the cost of the repair then only giving me $100 when I had spent $800 and right away this man offered to pay part of the cost. of course I thanked him for the kind offer but told him no and then he even asked are you sure because I don't want you guys to be stuck. Again I declined though and thanked him again for offering. I thought that was so nice of him to offer. And I finally got up my nerve and went out to look at the damage to my car. Dh made it sound so bad and he's not usually an alarmist and he did say that the next day after it happened when he looked at it it didn't look quite as bad. He's right. It really is not bad at all. Just a dent right in from of the passenger door but it does interfere with opening the door so will have to be fixed and there are scrathes along the whole side but are pretty minimal. If the door was ok and could be opened and closed I probably wouldn't even bother having it fixed but i do have an app't for Thurs to have the estimate done.
I sure blab enough about myself. I do have all my business things done...bills, contacting ins, etc so now just need to write some letters I want to mail while out on Tues. Had to call garbage co too to find out why they didn't give me a credit for the month they didn't collect my garbage.I think that when we leave here for a few months that I'm going to cancel them before we leave and get the other garbage company when we get back.
