nashville11 , good idea. Unfortunately, I've already watched GPS and Reliable Sources on CNN. Time for some sports, I think.

Linda, thank you for posting that beautiful story of companionship and compassion.
This thing humans call love and caring is simply the right thing to do for non human animals.
If we truly are loving and compassionate there would not be stray dogs or freezing kittens.
And yet, we still believe we are the pinnacle of God's creation. I beg to differ.

Just came back from seeing "Harriet." It's really a good movie, and if you haven't seen it I recommend it. It reminds you that even in the darkest of times for our country, there are still some brave, good people out there willing to stand up and be counted even at great personal sacrifice. Some of the things in the movie I already was aware of about Harriet Tubman, but there were a number of things I had never heard about before.

Linda, oh my gosh! I can't even think of any words to describe what I thought as I read this. Ana Navarro is right. It's a cult--it's a very scary cult.

There isn't much of a difference between some religions and some cults. The biggest problems for me is just believe don't question or doubt, and the tried and true God works in mysterious ways.
Beliefs are not facts. They are simply things you have been taught to believe. I believe when I sit on this chair it will not collapse. If I fall on my butt was that because I didn't have enough faith?
Faith or belief systems can encourage people to believe instead of thinking, to believe instead of question.
Do you think anybody during the holocaust wondered what happened to their neighbors and what was that smell and all that smoke?
When I was a believer I had a motto that was one of my favorites. Pray as if it all depends on God and act as if it all depends on you!

Pat, I understand where you are coming from and you make some good points. I would say, however, that faith that can not withstand questioning is not real faith. I consider myself to be a person of strong faith, as you already know my friend, and yet I question that faith all the time. I do agree with you that religion can sometimes be misused, however, and I think we see that happen often in our society today. Personally, I would be wary of any religion that asked me to accept without question. As for your reference about the Holocaust, that is something I have thought about a lot recently and something I discussed with DH just yesterday. How did normal, good German citizens reach the point where they either did not question or questioned and yet still just accepted? Until this current administration I really believed that could never happen here. I know. That was naive. Because we see the same thing happening all around us now. Our society here is no different, unless we wake up and get this aberration out of office. Even then it will be many years before the damage he has done can be eradicated. Maybe it will never be eradicated. I question how we ever came to this as a people, and I don't have any answers. Still I know in my personal life that without faith I simply could not go forward. It doesn't mean I don't question it. But it also means that I can feel it's comfort and its strength within. It's the compass that guides me. Ultimately, I can only be responsible for myself and my own actions, and I believe I will ultimately be accountable for that. Sorry! I'm getting much too philosophical for a sunny Monday morning.

EVERYTHING Trump touches or gets involved with, gets "F...."d up. Sorry, for that word, but most to the time its exactly how I feel about him. UGH....Inserting himself into a Naval issue was wrong, but so what, he does it anyway, as with everything he does!!
I will stay out of the religion debate. I'm not sure where I stand minute to minute on that. Interesting thoughts put forth tho. :-)

@lka48, and DotRen, you are both right about that. Absolutely everything! No matter how you phrase it, it all comes down to the same thing. As for the military mess, he needs to stay out of those internal issues. I don't know a lot about the military, but I do know they have a strict code of conduct for a very good reason. But then, tRump has no code of conduct and no understanding of anyone who does.

The judge told tRump he's not a king. He won't believe it. He definitely believes he is sovereign over us all, and we are simply the lowly serfs here to serve him and make him richer.
