Good morning all!
Ruth that was very nice of the neighbor to offer to pay for the truck repairs/ investigation. Always thought it ironic that the previous owner was so close to you. Well, good news that the car damage is not too bad- as bad as originally thought. Hopefully the repair will not be too expensive. Depending on how you want it repaired, sometimes they can work without having to get new parts, which ends up being pricey.
I got most of the interior sashing in last night. WIll have to take out one section and ease the two pieces together so that the sashing fits better and looks connective. WIll to that either this evening or perhaps tomorrow. THink part of the reason I had trouble with it is because I was a bit tired.
Opps, the baby is into mischief. She sure is becoming a 2 year old BBL Ginny

Good morning everyone and I hope a good week is in store for all. We woke to some colder temps than were forecasted and it's snowing too but just a little so I don't think it will be interfering with my plans for tomorrow. Thank you Ginny, I do think that this estimate is not going to be too high. Doesn't look that expensive to me. Dh at first thought it would be at least $1000 but I think it will be barely over my deductible. I plan on only getting the dent repared enough to be able to open and close the door. Now that scratches are on the car I don't really mind them. I can take care of those myself.
A bunch of my typing just vanished. What I said was that I'm sure it feels good to be making progress on the quilt. Congrats on getting some of the interior shashing done. It won't be long until the whole thing is done.Do you have a pattern for your dd's tree skirt or do you make it up as you go? Do you have the fabric and all. I think you said that you already have the binding. Is it going to be in traditional Christmas colors and fabric?
Yesterday my crafting was working on a grit stitch earwarmer. I didn't realize it was going to take so long. The stitch makes a nice texture and look though and I'm going to do the twist join. I saw it on one of the facebook groups. Yes those people do post completed projects, patterns, and they do ask for help and recommendations. I've been able to help some which is always a good feeling plus I've found more patterns...which I don't really need but I do like them. And I'm able to find out what young people are looking for and what the current trends are which helps me in picking things for the grands.I did have to unjoin one group because it mostly turned into a place for selling and although the admin of the group is a devout LDS member she allows bad language and what I would consider inappropriate and sometimes almost obscene pictures which I don't want to see.I can't believe how young women act these days.
Well off to do the daily chores and then prep for tomorrow. See you all later

Well, got DGD in for a nap and actually got a few minutes of sleep myself.
Car repairs always shock me with how much they are. We had a repair done to the back of our car in the fall, and I begged the place to do it as cheap as possible. He did a good job of holding to that promise- had we gone through insurance it would have cost us anyway as the repair was less than the deductible.
Ruth that FB group sounds like a good place- giving and getting advice for crochetting. What a nice way to see what is βinβ these days, Yeah, I do not get it......bad language is bad language. Folks need to remember that these places are public domain and not every one appreciates that kind of language. Guess you did the only thing that works as a n option and chose not to participate.
DGD is up Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I'm glad the car damage wasn't too bad and I hope you can get the door damage fixed. Ginny - I'm glad you are making progress on your quilt, hope you were able to work on it today. I'm not feeling as stuffed up today, just a bit of sneezing. I'll take some more OTC medicine tonight before bed, it's a cold/allergy medicine and does help me sleep better, which is a nice bonus. I went out today to run some errands and pick up a few groceries. When I got back I went outside and cut out some weeds (more like small bushes) that were growing on the outside of my fence in several sections. This has been on my mind so I was glad to get it done. I sure hope to get working on that hand quilting project from the class a few weeks ago, I'd like to finish it. The weather here today was really nice, in the 60s and sunny. Hope your weather was nice too. Take care everyone!

CJ, it's great that you're feeling better and were even able to go out to take care of needed errands and even do some weed cutting. It always feels good to get things accomplished and of course it alwo feels great to have days of just resting also. I hope you will be able to work on the materials from the class.
Ginny, I'm glad to hear you were able to get in a few minutes of sleep. sometimes those "power naps" work wonders.
I made a large pot of beef stew today and made some biscuits to go with them. I like to make cornbread for with it sometimes too. DH will have food now for a few days. He loves leftovers and still has some of his casserole with potatoes and cabbage with pepperoni and bacon. Sounds weird I know but he likes it.
I got all my phone and computer business done calling insurance companies and all for various questions...the calls I couldn't make yesterday and leave messages.Tomorrow and Thursday I'll take care of those things I need to go out for and then should be able to stay home for awhile again.
I didn't get any crafting done today so far except for carrying my yarn upstairs and now back downstairs. I'll work on it a little bit this evening and get the yarn and hooks together that I want to take with me tomorrow.Oh the other crafting I did today was...ahemmm...ordered some more yarn. Dh is an enabler and was ordering online from Walmart and asked if I needed to order anything from there and I said well only yarn so he told me to let him know which yarn and he added it to his order. Also 3 new crochet hooks since they are a great price. You know I don't need any of those things...neither yarn nor more hooks but...
Well Ok I'll go crochet and use up some of my old yarn. I'm still working with the clearance yarn I got at HL that I now wish I had bought more of

The sun is shining today, and the temperature didn't drop below freezing last night! The snow and ice is melting off the roof, and there's a big leak in the rain gutter right above the kitchen door to the deck. Very bad location. I hope I can get someone to fix it before spring. Potentially hazardous for falls.
The yarn I mentioned a few days ago is interesting to work with. The mohair sticks so it's best not to make a mistake that has to be corrected.

Sue, so glad that you got a warm day- warm enough to melt snow and ice! of course that melting process is probably what illuminated the leak in your gutter. Perhaps your Dhβs caregiver can recommend someone to replace/repair that stretch of gutter. Our gutters were in constant need of attention- and they are so important to keeping a house dry inside and safe. We finally hired a gutter contractor to take care of all the issues (we had many issues too!!). It was money well spent....best of luck finding someone. Is that yarn pretty when its worked up?? Bet its so very soft also...I gather you decided to make a scarf?
CJ- good news indeed that you are feeling a little bit improved. Have you been able to watch any of the new Hallmark channel movies? (I am so enjoying them). Make a deal with yourself to make a nice cup of tea, put on a good movie and get that hand quilting project out! Obviously today was warm enough for you to get outside to do some weeding. WIth the new fence, it probably looks so much better now that the larger weeds are cut back/cut out. One distinct advantage to feeling better and warmer weather. Hoping you can sleep well tonight- sometimes with a cold its tough to get the rest we need.
Silly fool that I am, I got up this morning to go to work. (I still go in 2 mornings a week). Well, I figured out after I was all dressed that school was closed today due to Election Day. It did allow me to get a nice walk in and spent some quiet time reading before DGD arrived. I also worked a little bit on the quilt top, pinning the one strip back into place. A friend gave me a good tip on how to ease the pieces into each other- which I will try tomorrow when I am more awake. Dgd was her normal silly self. Dh and I chose to drive her and her siblings home to spare Dd the journey.
Little by little I get through that darned paper shredding. At the rate I am going at, I have about 10 days worth of shredding to do. I only spend about 10 minutes on it a day- but its a pain. (CJ had some shredding to do awhile back, wonder if she got hers done). Tomorrow I am heading to the quilt shop with my friend. Should be a fun trip.
Take care all Ginny

Ginny, sorry you got up thinking that you were to work then found that you got up for nothing but it does sound like you put the time to good use. The only bad thing is it sounds like you had a very long day.
Can't believe I didn't post here earlier. First thing this morning I sat and visited with dh talking about house hunting mostly. Then it was off to the library for printing. I found that they have a while new system and now charge but it's only 10 cents per page which is no problem so I may have to go there again and print out some more things esp if I'm not going to have internet for awhile after we leave here for our several month adventure. We'll see if that adventure actually happens soon though. Right now it looks as though it might. Then I did some other things while waiting for time to go to dr app't. Doctor was running late so it made it challenging to get home safely while driving directly into the setting sun since I got out of there late. Didn't even stop to pick up meds because I needed to get home before dark but found that maybe driving into bright setting sun is worse than driving in the dark. So I'll have to go out tomorrow then again on Thursday. I did do some crocheting while waiting but my mind kept wandering so I ended up having to take some rows out. Luckily they are short rows. This thing is taking forever and since it's just an earwarmer it should go fast. Finally on Friday I may be able to sit and finally finish all my birthday and Christmas projects that are done except for the finishing touches.
CJ I hope you're feeling even better. I hope you had as nice a weather day as we had here. I think it may have reached 60.Wish it would stay this way.
Well I'm going to work on a couple more rows before putting my head on the pillow for the night. See you all tomorrow sometime.

Good morning everyone. What a difference a day makes...Woke up to snow and it's still snowing. So I probably won't go out today after all. I'll let the pharmacy mail my meds and I should get them tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow will be better but at least the collision shop I need to go to is just 5 miles down the straight highway.
Not that you all want to know all the details of my life but I called the garbage company this morning and cancelled. You all know how that saga went back when they didn't pick up the whole month of June and I talked to the woman several times ...well now she claims she never spole to me!!! She was very nice on the phone but insistent that she never knew I had a problem. She certainly did. So we got all the billing straightened up with credit given to me for that month and it's all cancelled and I got the new company starting next week.dh just got up so I'll bbl

Ruth, we just got the edges of the storm that hit you. The map of the cold front was interesting last night. It's cold here, but we've only had about twenty snowflakes! I had trouble getting the ice off my windshield and finally had to get some lukewarm water from the house. The outlet for the windshield wiper fluid was frozen. Tomorrow is supposed to be quite a bit warmer.
The trip into town was otherwise uneventful. The roads were clear. I bought a few groceries that I forgot to get on Monday, went to two banks and the post office. My sister's estate account is in a different bank than our accounts. I am going to be so glad when things have gotten through Probate. I have no idea when that will be, but it's closer than it was. Even the post office stop was related, as was a statement that I had notarized at my bank.
Yes, I am making a scarf out of the part mohair yarn, Ginny. One of these days I'm going to have to buy a few crochet hooks. I want some that are larger and metal for another project.

Hello Crafters Sue - I hope you can get your gutter fixed before it causes any injuries. I'm glad you were able to get your errands done. Ruth - I think you are correct about driving at sunset (and sunrise too). I remember when I was working that I hated it when I had to drive at those times, it's so dangerous. Hope you get the medication tomorrow. And I'm glad you'll now be with another trash company. It's really sad how people can outright lie like that about talking to you. Ginny - I hope you were able to get some work done on your quilt. I have been watching some of the Hallmark movies. I tend to watch the ones with actors I've already seen before, or if the story is very good. Otherwise, after a bit they all seem to be the same, but they are enjoyable light TV watching. I did have to do a lot of shredding over the last year or so but I caught up earlier this year and all I shred now is just my daily junk mail - and I get so much of it! Phyl - Hope things are ready for your retreat - isn't it this weekend or was it last weekend? I'm feeling fine now, so I guess if I did have a cold, it was mild. It was nice and sunny here today but cooler and supposed to be a lot colder by Friday. I haven't been motivated to work on my quilting at all, so I'm not going to worry about it. Take care everyone!

Long day for me, so this will be a quick hello
CJ- now that you are done with all your shredding - shall I send you some of mine?? Glad you are feeling better and that it was a mild cold. You will be motivated to quilt when its time....the worst thing would be if you stressed about it...Like you I find some of the Hallmark movies rather repetitious, but ifs not offensive and pleasant enough
Sue. I am sure that scarf will be magnificent. The yarn sounds so pretty. Its good news that the process of probating the will is proceeding, albeit it slowly. Every small step is one more step toward the end. I hope that the process is over soon for you so that you can move on to do things that you want to do.
Ruth- you sound so busy! Glad you got the form printed out and other errands run. Gee, too bad you cannot take that woman from the garbage company to our thread of a few months ago...this problem with that garbage company has been going on since at least summer. So glad for you that you have made the switch.
Got up to the quilt shop and bought some pretty fabric for the Bible cover. Then came home and made dinner for tomorrow....I made a double meal one will go to my SIL and her family. NIght all Ginny.
Hope Phyl is doing ok,. Is she on retreat?

Well it' a much nicer day weather wise here. Snow is melting and by the time I have to go out I shouldn't have to brush snow off the car. Binny. I only sound busy now because most of my days are so "unbusy" I may be a lot busier soon with all this work in the house and all. We'll see what happens there. CJ I'm glad your cold is gone. I'm sure you feel much better without having the headaches and stuffiness. Sue I'm glad you only got a little of the snow and were able to get out to take care of the things that needed to be done. Yes your scarf is going to be fantastic I did make two of those twisty earwarmers and was amazed at how nice they came out. It wouldn't be something I'd want to wear but the grandchildren will love them I'm sure. Ds's youngest daughter seems to have headbands on a lot so an earwarmer could serve that purpose also so I have to make some smaller ones since she's 8 her head I'm sure is not the size of mine. I don't know what size an 8 year old's head would be but there are charts. The people that had tutorials on how to make the twist used a stitch that is the same on both sides so they didn't stress that you need to do this on the wrong side but luckily my feeble brain realized that before I got all that sewing and weaving in so I actually ended up with mine on the correct side since my pattern was one that needs to have the one side showing. Ok I'm going to go prepare for the day. I have to get a paper notorized and it says you have to have two witnesses ..not family members or relatives of any kind so I hope my bank will have a couple people other than the person that will do the notorizing that can fulfull that function.

Ruth, the bank can use tellers or bank officers, really anyone to notarize. Even a janitor. Glad the head warmers turned out so well. Yes there are lots of styles I would not wear but are cute on the kids. Do you have much work in the house to take care of in preparation for a possible move? Ginny
