Hello Crafters Ginny - I'm glad you found some nice fabric for the bible cover. And I'm sure the dinner for your family is appreciated. I thought I was done with my shredding but I found some more that I'll have to do, not too much though. I wish you luck with yours. I thought I'd never get all that I had done Ruth - I hope you were able to get your papers notarized with no problems. There were probably plenty of people at the bank to assist. I used to be a notary public a very long time ago. My boss at the time wanted me to be one. I started getting another one of those headaches today but took some aspirin and it went away. I think they are caused by the weather front coming through. I haven't been doing much else recently but one of my DB is coming over tomorrow and we're going to go through a few more of my DF's things that I left from when I did my clearing out earlier this year. I also hope we can then figure out what else is left to do and make a plan for it. I would be happy if I could get all my parents things sorted out over this winter. Take care everyone!

CJ, I'm glad the aspirin took care of the headache and I'm glad your brother is coming to help you go thru your parents' things. That will take some of that load off you and I know it will be a relief to be done with it all.
They did take care of the notarizing with no problem. I'm sure they're used to doing that. I then went and picked up my meds, made a stop at Walmart and took care of the car estimate. I was sure surprised that it came to almost $3000.00. There really is hardly any damage at all. I hate to see how much it would cost if you did some serious damage. The man that did the inspection did something so that the door would open and if I had a choice I'd just take the money and leave the tiny dent and the scratches.I got in a couple minutes of crocheting and also some before leaving home this morning. And and stopped and picked up some pizza. I don't actually care too much for pizza but I got jalapenos on one of them so had a piece of that one.
I'll bbl

Hello Crafters Ruth - I'm glad you were able to get your document notarized with no problems. It is ridiculous how much car repairs cost. Hope you were able to stay home today after all the errands yesterday. My DB came by and we went through some of my father's things. It was good to get that done but I've been left with a lot of things that are in pretty good condition and we need to figure out what to do with them - it's mostly personalized things my father had and some of his jewelry. I'll have to ask my other siblings if they want any of it and then decided what to do with what's left. I also have a small bag of things to shred, but I'll work on that a bit each day. We still have more things to decide what to do with, but this finishes most of the small items and paperwork. It was very cold and windy here today, so I'm glad I didn't have to go out. Hope everyone is having a good day and getting in some crafting

Good afternoon...or evening...to all in our happy little group
It's a beautiful day again today. it was up to 60 degrees. It was very windy though but still nice and warm. It was probably feeling warmer outdoors than it is in the house.
So far today I haven't accomplished much. At least we've made some plans and know what we're going to be doing for the holidays. We did put in an offer on one property and will find out by tomorrow evening what the sellers decide. I'm sure they'll give a counter offer so we'll see what happens there. I wish we were moving somewhere warmer and actually it is a little warmer there but I'd like a nice warm dry desert area.
I did carry my yarn upstairs and back down so I guess I should do a little crocheting. I wish I had a good book to read instead. I'm more in a reading mood than crocheting.
Oh I did have a nice conversation with an older woman in Walmart yesterday. She was looking at the acrylic yarn and asked me if I could tell cotton yarn from others and I told her yes and that none of the ones in that part of the isle were cotton and I pointed out the cotton to her. So then she told me that she's teaching herself to crochet and is working on dishclothes so we had a nice conversation about that and I told her to check some youtube videos but to remember that some people that make videos are not experts so if she sees something she questions to find another video and see if that other one agrees. She was happy and I was too because I love helping people

CJ, I'm glad your brother did make it over to look thru your father's things. I'm sure you're feeling overwhelmed at times with all that seems to need to be done in your house and it's good to have some help.If I had to do all that I'd probably follow the advice of home organizers and pick all the things to sell, all to donate, all to toss, all to keep.If my sibs hadn't come over in a timely fashion they would have lost out. They also say to remember that the things people leave are not the people. yes objects and belongings can remind us of the person but mostly we don't need things to remind us anyway. We just end up being smothered by having too much "stuff" around. You may be completly different but that's how I feel about belongings. The only thing I've kept of my relatives is one letter or card from each of my parent and aunts. I'm even getting rid of pictures.

Good evening my friends.
CJ- so glad that you are able to go through more of your Df’s belongings and come up with a good solution to where it goes- or what you or your brother want to keep. Its a daunting task, especially when you realize that EVERYTHING that person owned must be dealt with and a decision made whether to keep, donate, throw out etc....its just frustrating and can really paralyze the mind. I am happy for you that you moved forward with that and are finding ways to deal with the other effects. I can see from what my mother kept that she had a big problem with this (my mom had a hard time throwing out anything). I still have some small items from her step dad (who passed in the mid 60’s). Not much and nothing big...going to take some of those items to an antique dealer and see what is best. I think papers to shred just seem to multiply at night. Just when you think you are done with it, more shows up! At least now you did not find a lot of additional papers- and will get them shredded in a short amount of time. Hope that the weather stays stable and that you do not suffer these headaches anymore. Is this something new for you? Perhaps the next time you visit the doctor, it could be discussed. Hope you are feeling better....
Ruth, you have accomplished a lot in a short amount of time! Car estimates are discouraging for sure and what looks like a small amount of damage is pretty pricey to repair. I figured that the bank would have enough staff to take care of the notarization. Bet you are glad that that task if over with. What an interesting conversation in Walmart! In the past I have found that most crafters are very friendly and easy to chat with. For this novice crochetter, she encountered the right person to discuss how to get started in this hobby. You are the crochetting queen. Best of luck with the offer on the property. If its meant to be, it will all work out. I hope that the best situation comes up for you and Dh and that its a place where both of you will be happy.
Went for a walk with my friend this am and we saw snow! Just a few flakes but it was so pretty. Great to spend time with her also. Last night we had both DD’s and the grandkids here so the house got a bit messy. (To say the least!). Spent some time trying to restore law and order here too. And as I am SLOWLY getting rid of stuff, I can better store a few items and am cleaning out the house a bit. Its a nice feeling. I did get to finish pinning the interior sashing. My email quilting buddy gave me some great advice to help sew that on and ease the sashing into place. Hope to use that tomorrow. Then onto finishing the sashing which should not be too difficult. After that, i will start working on DD’s Christmas tree skirt.
Take good care all....sleep tight Ginny

Yes sometimes trying to organize a house can become so overwhelming that it can feel as though it paralyzes you will the stress of having to make so many decisions. Ginny, I'm glad you got the sashing done in the middle and that you have a friend that can help by giving you hints on how to do the easing of the pieces into place. I know that your house may have been a little bit on the "lived in look" after the grands were over and having a good time but I know it was a happy time for all of you. Well I appreciate the wonderful compliment even though I'm far from being any kind of expert in crocheting but I can help with little things and I love doing it. I had met another woman one day as I was waiting for prescriptions. There was a small girl sitting there that had a really nice hat on and I could tell it was lovingly made for her. I asked the woman with her if she had made it and she said that no it was made by the child's other grandmother but that she herself would love to learn to crochet. I told her that I crocheted and she asked if I taught people. I told her no that I didn't teach anyone but my grandchildren but told her that there were great videos online that she could learn from. I always wonder if she ever went ahead and learned. one other day a woman that came now and then to the Caps for Kids meetings I went to called me on the phone and left a message saying " come to my house at 11 tomorrow morning to show me how to do this crocheting". I had only met this woman twice before this and only at those meetings. I didn't show up at her house. I don't mind helping people, as I said but to be called by pretty much a total stranger and told to show up at that person's home the next morning is just a little bit off putting. Yes I did help her at the meeting but never expected that she would take that as me being at her beck and call. I mean she didn't even ask...she just told me to be there. Thank you all for the wishes on the house buying endeavor. As you said, Ginny, if it's to be it will happen. I'll accept whatever happens I have Fox news on and they're saying that Kamala Harris is talking about extending the school day for children to 6pm! I was very surprised when I came home the other day at 5pm and found children just getting off the school bus. they were obviouslyelementary shool age. I for sure wouldn't want my small children to be in school that long. My son got home from school when he was in elementary school here at 4 and that was late enough. Just think then what time the teachers would get home

Yes, I agree kids are in school long enough- especially with all the after school activities that they are involved in these days. I can easily relate to a concept of the school running an after care program, so that if the children are already there for the day and the parents need babysitting the kids could get that there. And perhaps some additional help with homework etc...if that were offerred by the school from qualified treachery-teachers aides. The route that I drove for the last several years of my career had me dropping off students to their homes at 4:10 pm. During the dark winter months and if there were difficult road conditions it was a challenge for sure. I can well remember trips where the kids got home at almost 4:30 because I refused to drive like a loonatic on ice and snow (these students lived approximately 10 miles from the school- I live in a physically large district in this state). Those days I did not get home until 5 or much later. And I remember one snowy day that I got my last student home at 5.

Well I finally got back here. Dd came over to do laundry, and we watched 2 Hallmark channel movies. It was nice to spend the day with her and get a bit of down time.
Back to my story about getting kids home late. The time I got my last student home after 5, i finally pulled into work to park my bus empty a full hour later. Roads were horrible that day.
And Ruth, I absolutely do not blame you for not going to that woman’s house to teach her how to crochet.
CJ- I just heard on TV that there is a series starting on November 17 called Britain In Color. Sounds like a historical perspective and its on the Smithsonian channel. Thought you might like to know.
I did get to clip some threads on my quilt today. And got my thread all set up in the machine again, ready to get that last piece of sashing in.

It's great to be able to sit with your adult children and relax and watch movies. When ds was here we did that a lot and we all really enjoyed it. I'm glad you were able to get some more work done of your quilt.
CJ and Sue, I hope that both of you had a good day also. I don't know if this was Phyl's week at the retreat or not but I didn't think they were going to be gone too long. Maybe she just hasn't had time to get online
I did start working on getting some finishing touches done on my crochet projects. Tomorrow I'll definitely get birthday gifts together then I'll have to wrap them and finish the crochet ones to wrap also and pack up everything. It might take a couple days but I'll get a good start. Monday is a holiday so banks and post office won't be open so I'll have that day also and will be able to get that completely done and off my mind.
Ginny, the neighbor who's son was the previous owner of my Honda that I had so much trouble with was also a school bus driver. I can't imagine driving a bus full of noisey children and especially in bad weather. I'm sure she didn't put up with any nonsense though. She is a scary looking woman very stern looking, so just a look would probably quiet the children all down. The other day when the children got home at 5pm was a beautiful weather day so that must be their normal arriving home time here now.
I did find another pattern today for a hat and scarf set I'd like to make so I started the scarf.. I just finished row 1 but it's 208 stitches so long rows. I may subsitute this one for another that I made my grandaughter because the other has a seam and with that pattern the seam doesn't turn out quite the way I'd like it to.

Hello Crafters Ginny - Snow!! They are saying we might get some wet snow this coming week. Hope you were able to make progress on the sashing on your quilt. I'm glad you are enjoying the Hallmark movies. I've seen a few liked too and I'm enjoying seeing some of the previous ones again. Thanks for the heads-up on the Britain shows. Ruth - I think that woman was pretty bold to just tell you to come to her house to help her!! It's things like these that keep me from joining any organized groups or things that require a commitment 208 stitches is very long, did you continue that scarf? I went out yesterday and shopped at 4 stores, mostly groceries. I stocked up on things that were on sale so now I won't have to do any big shopping for awhile. I was really tired when I got home and carried it all in and put it away, so I didn't do much the rest of the day. It's been cold and cloudy here, but today and tomorrow are supposed to be milder. I've done some of the shredding I have from Friday and just have a bit more, but I have to tear off addresses from a bunch of newsletters before I shred them, but I hope to finish those this weekend. Then I can figure out how to deal with the other things. It's irritating having them on my dining room table since I do a lot of other things on that table since I have my computer in the dining room. One of the few things I rarely do at the table is eat a meal I'll be checking out the Slow Sunday stitching blogs today so that will be my crafting. Take care everyone!

Good afternoon all. CJ, enjoy that Slow STitching Sunday blogs. And it's great that you got your shopping done. If any snow is coming at all people will be flocking to the stores. Here it was at least 65 yesterday and dh said that even at 3 or 4 in the morning and maybe even later it was still 62. Well it sure isn't now and it's snowing a little. That's not unusual for here at all though. On that scarf I was crocheting back the next row and found a mistake that can't be left so I have to pulll our the current row and way back on that previous row to get to that spot. Mistakes never are at the end where you just need to pull out a few stitches. One of those Murphy's laws I guess.
Well this morning I did get all the birthday gifts together so now I need to wrap them all. I still have to do the finishing touches on the crochet ones.
Oh and you all might remember that I was searching like crazy for my set of pans....like Ginny was searching for that doll. Well dh saw the box of pans right in plain site and right where I was working on three different occaisions in the garage. When I went out to get them after he told me I saw that I had even set things on top of the box yet it didn't register that that was what I was searching for.
My bladder was terrible all yesterday and even most of the night but so far today it's ok...very tolerable. I'll start my new med tonight. It has to be taken at bedtime. I don't know how I'm going to react to it. I might not be able to keep taking it but I'll try it and find out.
Have a great day all.

The low tonight is going to be 5, and snow is supposed to stop around nine. I just went out to lift up the wipers on my car. Better now than when they won't budge in the morning.
I know tomorrow is a holiday, but I still have an appointment in the morning. I don't like driving the major east west road with the weather, cold and snow, but I'll let my car warm up and take my time.
Hopefully, the cold weather will make the raccoon that has been in my backyard decide to hibernate. Last night I made a lot of noise before I let out the dogs. They've been treeing it in a crabapple tree and barking. Last night worked much better than having to go out with a flashlight and carry in a dog or two!

I guess Phyl is on her retreat and having a great time. Get home safe Phyl!!
Sue, how is that pretty scarf turning out?? good plan to let the car warm up well and then take your time getting to your appointment. Hope that all goes well. Raccoons can be a pain in the neck and very nasty to boot. Be careful....and test I hope yours go into hibernation.
Yes, Ruth, its Murphy’s law that any mistake you make is going to be buried in the garment/item and you have to rip out a lot. So glad you got all the birthday gifts together- little by little it all gets done and is ready for shipping. So you found the box of pots?? Perhaps were they in my DD’s garage? Ha ha ha. Glad that the search is over. I am sure they will come in handy when you and Dh move. I will pray for you with the hope that you sleep better tonight. Hope that the medication works well for you. You have suffered with this long enough.
CJ-did you find anything good on the slow stitching blog??? Glad you got to the stores early before the snow sets in. It does appear as though people forget how to drive in inclement weather. And you will be nice and toasty warm at home.....with a big smile on your face.
Got to church this am, then went to see SIL in the hospital. She seems very tired and weak. They will be installing a port on Tuesday so she can get her chemo through that. We hope that will help.
I slept horribly last night and am hoping to sleep well tonight. And tomorrow is Monday. See you in the am Ginny

Ginny, well too bad we don't live nearer to one another because since neither of us could sleep we could have done crafts together or something..the implanted port will be a good thing for your sil. Now she won't have to worry about them digging around to find veins and they can give anything she needs thru it and draw blood from it too. Makes life much more comfortable while going thru a horribly difficult process. Talking about implanted ports makes me think of two small boys I knew while working that had them. They were brave little guys and so cute. They didn't have cancer and I don't even remember what the one had.We helped the other celebrate his first birthday.Knowing those little guys made me really happy that I didn't actually work in pediatrics. We had several other children with central lines too but those were because of cancer. One woman who was a single parent lost both daughters at a young age to cancer.I know I couldn't handle dealing with dying children...My job was only to do what needed to be done with their lines. I wasn't their assigned nurse. I worked on IV team at the time so did see them every day to do a line site check at least and whatever else was needed in that regard.
Sue, yes be careful in that snow and take your time.
