This is a hard time of year with all the temptations, not only the holiday-related-food, but just the cold weather and comfort food. I'm really relying on low-point soups and bean burritos to get me through it. Anyone else have some good ideas for low/reasonable point, winter-time foods? Soups are definitely a go-to once it turns cold. One of my favs is a cauliflower soup that I treat like a potato soup (meaning I top it with a bit of cheese, bacon & chives). Using cauliflower is another way to lower points (like cauliflower rice, or mashed cauliflower). In order to keep everyone happy, I don't necessarily use all cauliflower so I might use some rice & add cauliflower rice to bulk it up. We also love casseroles so it's easy to cut back on the pointed foods & bulk it up with veggies. So I might cut back on the ground meat & add sauteed baby bella mushrooms. Or maybe less pasta & add more of the other veggies. Squash is another fav (delicata, butternut or acorn). Delicata is wonderful roasted & the skin can be eaten. Leftover squash reheats nicely in the microwave.

I lost .4 this week. I am 1.6 pounds away from getting to have free etools again. It will probably take me a month or possibly two (with the holidays) to lose that, but I am glad I am losing instead of gaining. Since I attend meetings I decided to try Purple. I reached Lifetime following Simply Filling on Points Plus. I struggled with it on Smart Points because of the reduced weeklies and the higher points for items that I had used my weeklies for. Now with having 16 daily points and 21 weeklies, it may be doable for me. This past week I double tracked Points Plus on paper and Purple on the app. I am going to do that for a little while to see if purple will work for me. I sure do not want to gain weight again. I had gained 20 pounds between Beyond the Scale and Freestyle.
