I know we have a lot of lurkers out there - so this message goes to all. Thanks to our Veterans and those who support them for their service to our great nation.

Ruth, you are so right about my SIL’s condition. The installed port will help so much, they are already expressing concern about her collapsing veins (think that is how it is referenced). The port will help a lot.
Think my favorite veteran and I are going to run some errands this morning. I am enjoying having Monday off from babysitting- as much as I love the little ones, time off is nice too. Hope I can work on my sashing later on today. G

Hello Crafters - Happy Veteran's Day to those who served or had service members in your family Sue - Hope your appointment went well and the raccoon goes away for the winter. Ruth - I'm happy you found the pan/dish set you were looking for. It's crazy how something can hide in plan sight Ginny - I'm glad you are getting a day off from babysitting. Hope you were able to get all your errands done. Phyl - Hope the retreat went well. It's been a beautiful sunny day here with temps in the 60s and then tomorrow it will be cold, rainy and maybe some wet snow. I find weather so fascinating. I started making a list of the things we went through last week and I'll get it finished soon so I can ask my other siblings if there is something of it that they want. I watched the most recent MSQC tutorial from last Friday and I really like the block for this quilt. It's pretty easy to make and I could see this quilt in a lot of different colorways. I might try a test block just for fun. Here's a link in case you didn't see it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=27HyfgoNLWwWouldn't this be nice in just 2 colors, or white background with red and blue square for a patriotic look? I've got to start making a list of quilt ideas that I want to try because I mention them and then forget them in a few weeks. Take care everyone!

Good evening,
CJ- you are so right, that square knot quilt would be charming in red/white and blue.....I think you ought to have a crafting log where you document all your ideas. You do keep your eye open for a lot of different crafts- quilting and crochetting being most of them. Think if you had a log, perhaps divided by craft category, then you could keep track off all the wonderful ideas you have seen and return to them when you are ready to. A cheap dollar store notebook would work just fine. Yes this weather is wacky. We are in for some light snow- and its supposed to be colder as the day goes on. It was wise of you to get your errands completed the other day so you can stay home and laugh at the weather. I agree, its a great idea to make a list of all the items left to be divided- so they know what is available and you know what is left to divide amongst you.
Our errands were interesting.....we got to the stores early, so none were crowded. That was great. Thought Dh was going to go out to lunch l(for free) because of his veterans status, but he did not want to wait 10 minutes for that restaurant to open. So we came home and I made lunch. He is very impatient these days, mostly out of concern for his sister.
Yay, yay yay!!! I did get the nasty piece of sashing in, and now have to add the final 4 pieces, which seem to be easy to add. Then will take a break on that project to make DD’s Christmas tree skirt.
Have a good night all Ginny

Hello Crafters Ginny - I'm glad you were able to finish the sashing and hopefully the final pieces will be easy. I'm sure you are ready to work on something else. You were fortunate to get out early on the holiday so the stores weren't crowded. It's very cold and windy here today. It was raining this morning and ended with a few snow flurries. I had to wear my heavy coat when I went out to get the mail. I haven't been doing much to talk about and no crafting, but I hope everyone else is doing well and getting some crafting in. Take care!

Hey CJ— glad you were able to stop in to say hello. Same cold and windy weather here too. It seems early, doesn’t it? Here too. We need heavy coats. Looks like later on in the week we will have more seasonal temps. And just be able to wear coats not the heavy winter ones. Do you have any plans for Thanksgiving?
Well I got the side sashing strips on, and the others pinned in. I have a. Bit of a headache and feel like I am getting a cold, so I will sew them of tomorrow. Then on to start the layout for the Christmas tree skirt.
HI to Sue, Ruth and Phyl and all who are reading but not stopping in to say hi. Ginny

I know I posted here this morning. Maybe I didn't hit the send button or somehow posted on the wrong one.
Phyl it's great to have you back. It sounds like you got a lot done. Yes I'd be very tired of eggs after three days in a row too.
Ginny, on my earlier post I did mentioned being glad you were able to get that sashing done and out of the way. How was babysitting today after an extra day off.
C,I forget now what I was going to say but one thing was about the list of belongings you're making. I'm sure that finding out what to do with everything is a huge burden off your shoulders.
Sue, I hope you're having a good week. The snow we got here thru Sunday night has mostly melted because it was warmer today.
I did do some crocheting today but most of my time was spent reading.
Have a good night all.

Good evening all. Welcome back Phyl!!!!! Sounds as though you had - all in all- a nice week. Good that you got to a small quilt shop- too and all in all that you had more fun this year than last. What a shame that sleeping was not something you were able to do well. I am sure its a great thing to be home and in your own bed! Was the bed uncomfortable or is Nita a loud sleeper? Yes, I would LOVE the directions for the mug rug emailed to me. If its not too much work, I would really appreciate that. And I would have starved had I gone. I really dislike eggs.
Ruth, glad you took a day off from “hooking”. With all the paperwork and errands you have been running, I think a nice quiet day of reading must have been perfect for you. I am so sorry your previous post got lost into cyber space. It happens to me all too often and its so frustrating. How are you feeling??
Well, it was cold here today, think we topped out around 35 degrees. Late morning, I grabbed the cell phone and went for a 90 minute walk- and called my DSIL in Florida. We had a lovely chat. I always visiting with her, whether in person or on the phone. With the other SIL being sick, both DSIL in Florida and I have had our hands full, both of our husbands have been edgy and are worried. Nice to chat with her and get a well needed reality check. I worked on making a dinner for SIL’s family which we dropped off later. I finished the sashing- all done and sewn in place! Gonna take that break for the Christmas tree skirt and Bible cover, and then return to make the corner blocks and put the final binding on. I tried to change my avatar to reflect how it looks now, and was unable to . Will try again later. I rather enjoyed a bit of a quiet day. babysitting tomorrow.
Anyone know of a good online BOM with a free pattern?? Of course I will research on my own. Got a friend who will do a free BOM with me, online. I must be nuts.
Have a wonderful evening Ginny

Choney Nita is usually pretty quiet. the last night she was really snoring for some reason.
No as bad as Maryo last year, the whole place could hear her. I tend to have a sleep problem even with the mask and sleep aid. been this way on and off for several years. took me a Couple of nights to get use to my being in my bed at home. not sure if dst had anything to do with it or not.
today I sat at the kitchen table and sewed on those mug rugs.had to get a new tracfone because they have changed techonolgy. loved my old phone.
started snowing at 3 pm just as the fedex guy was walking up the driveway. not much but he did not sound happy.then it was only flujrries. phyl

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well Ruth - Sorry you lost your post, I hate it when that happens. Hope you are enjoying some crocheting and reading. Phyl - Sounds like you had a good time at your retreat, I'm glad you were able to go. Ginny - I'm happy for you that you finished all the sashing on your quilt and now you can work on a few other projects. Here are a few links to some BOMs that I saw on the Internet: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/ - look towards the top of the page for projects you can click on and also click on MORE Free Quilt Patterns, she has several there www.blockcentral.com/BOM.shtml - there are several nice quilts here too, not sure if all the instructions are there since I just looked at the finished quilt www.nationalquilterscircle.com/article/welcome-nqc-quilt-block-challenge/ -- I did this one a few years ago and it made a really nice size quilt and the blocks were easy. I did mine in pinks, yellow floral and white Here's a link where you can click on the PDF for the pattern. happycloudcreations.com/2017/12/03/snowy-day-quilt-sampler-block-challenge/ - click on CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD for the pdf. It's been really cold here for a few days, but sunny. It's just such a shock after having a 90 degree day just back in October. I went out today to do some shopping and errands and have a bit more to do tomorrow and then I should be good until next week. Take care everyone!

It's good to see you CJ. I went to all the links you posted. I love that snowy day quilt. Some of the ones posted toward the bottom of the page were in some colors I didn't care for but the main one and one other were beautiful colors. In the first link I really liked the Merry and Bright quilt. That would be perfect for someone to start now and have done for next Christmas season.
It was a beautiful day here. ONly in 40's but little wind and at least not snowing and not is 20's or worse.
I've had one of those days where you kind of feel like there's so much to do that you don't know where to start so you sit and do nothing. Actually though I did get notes written to the granchildren and the POA ready to mail tomorrow while we're out so the day wasn't a total loss. And I've done a little crocheting just in the last hour.
I don't remember now what I posted last night that got lost so will just improvise.
Phyl, it sounds like you had a good time at the retreat. A couple times when I went to work related conferences I had to share a room.Didn't like that at all. And what is a swing bed?
Ginny, i hope you had fun with the grands today. Is today the day you were taking the food to your sil?
