Ginny, I bet the kids won't be heartbroken if there's a snow day either Meg, I agree with what Ginny said, you aren't wasting time. You're doing many things that are helpful to others and are reading for yourself. Those are all good things. And I'm sure glad they had success at accessing a vein for your iron today. Ginny, well I did make a list but I left the list at home so I did forget a few things I had intended to buy. I know you'll get the hang of the friendship bracelets. I always wonder how you can put a border or binding on a quilt without covering the points. That's one more thing I have to learn. Oh and Ginny, that's how the instructor in the quilting class I went to was. I don't think she was very knowledgeable about quilting either. That place closed though so if or when I go to a class again it should be with different people CJ, I'm looking forward to seeing this week's block too. I also went out today as you see above by me saying that I forgot my list. We went to Walmart and three grocery stores. Walmart didn't have the black and white peaches and cream or sugar and cream whichever it is they sell. They also had a very limited supply of #10 thread so I didn't buy any because none of the very few colors they had were ones I wanted. I got a beautiful handmade thank you card in the mail today from my dgd who turned 8 last month and is the one I made the pink and white shawl for and the hat with the "big ball". She said "thank you for the shawl, I love everything about it, It's awesome" Then she mentioned the other little things I put in for her. I love getting their thank you notes and save them all. It was 45 degrees when we were out but no wind so it felt warmer. There was a young woman going into walmart in shorts and a tank top and sandals. I didn't have on my winter coat but I did have a heavier non winter one on. PHyl, I hope you're having a good day and I hope all of you are having a good evening.

Ruth sorry to hear that you left your list at home! I have done that all too many times, and it sure is frustrating! Sounds like you were able to get most of what you wanted to accomplished anyway. You got such a lovely thank you note! How sweet of your Dgd to write such a heartfelt note!
Woke up and am checking to see if school has been closed ..... nothing in my county yet. Guess I will have to wait till tomorrow am. Good night Ginny

Good morning all. Its still morning here at least. It's warmer than yesterday but it's not sunny and it is windy. Ginny, I'm glad to hear you got an extra day off to make a long weekend. It would have been even better if you had found out last night and could have slept in but a day off is good no matter
Yes it was a beautiful card that she made. She had made a tiny bunch of flowers and colored them, then somehow made a little cut out in the paper and attached the bunch of flowers to it so that when you opened the card the flowers stood out and she put a note above the bunch of flowers that said, "I love you bunches" with an arrow pointing to the flowers. I'm sure she had help from her three older sisters. She also has one younger sister, a younger brother and an older brother so she gets lots of help and she also helps them. Last year I made her a purse and a crochet crown and my dil said she kept them with her at all times so that "no one younger would get ahold of them" Being a child in a large family it must be extra important to have something of your very own.
PHyl your sit and sew sounds like the Caps for Kids meetings We did knit and crochet but there was a lot more visiting. We also had snacks and beverages.
I'm going to make one more tea light holder today to get it tighter around the candle. I haven't received my tea lights yet. When out yesterday we stopped at the mailbox and there was a ton of mail but about 90% of it was junk mail.. no tea lights. I thought they'd be here by now.I did get a package from the company that I ordered the plastic rings from. I ordered 2 inch rings and they are way bigger than I thought but the worst part is they're very thick so I don't know what I'll ever use them for. I'd like them 2 inches around but much thinner. Even the 1 1/2 inch ones are pretty thick but usable for my purpose..the 2 inch ones are not but I'm sure that eventually I'll find something to do with them. They were definitely a good price. They're Boye and much cheaper than the ones I ordered last year that are only 1 inch. I also got some seaming pins which, as I suspected are just like the old pastic pins that used to be used in hair rollers to hold them in your hair. I wish I had kept some of those. They don't sell them any more. I did see at walmart yesterday that they're back to selling bobby pins...they had loads of those. I was sure surprised about that.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Yeah, a snow day! Hope you enjoyed it. We had some snow showers here this morning, and then the cold windy weather for the rest of the day and weekend ahead. Ruth - What a lovely card from your DGD. Hope you got your tea light holder made. Phyl - Hope your tulips survive. I always feel bad for the plants, the mild weather confuses them and then cold weather comes back and hurts them! Meg - Hope you are doing well. I found another block of the week project to start There will be 48 blocks and they are only 6 inches. I had a bunch of fat quarters from the Little House on the Prairie - Prairie Flower collection and I'm going to use those for this challenge. Here's some information on it: www.bearcreekquiltingcompany.com/moda-blockheads-2017/www.facebook.com/groups/253867175058745/www.fatquartershop.com/prairie-flowers-fat-quarter-bundle - these are my fabrics. I'm using a cream fabric as my light fabric for this project Here's the weekly block for the Solstice Quilt: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/ - scroll down for pictures Since I'm making the 12" blocks - my block will look like #27 I can't find a good link to pictures of the Snowy Day quilt blocks, so here's the original quilt. Block #3 is the top right block: go.nationalquilterscircle.com/A7154/Take care everyone.

CJ, I love looking at the blocks on the sites you've linked us to. Some are very beautiful, some you wonder where they got the idea to use the colors they chose. Of course, as I've mentioned, I don't think I'm good at choosing colors either so there are just a few quilts I would make. Some people are so very creative...not me. I may be mildly creative but wouldn't have the first clue on choosing fabric for some of those quilts.

Good evening! Ruth that sure is a lovely thank you note Dgd made for you. She sounds like a very dear young woman. By the way, craftsy sells quilt kits with all the hard work of fabric selection done. I have heard their quality is good also.
Phyl, well......😀I think a lot of quilt guilds and craft bees are sit and chats! But it's all for a good cause and good work is done there. I am glad you got to go!
CJ- I am impressed that you are taking on another BOM! This one looks neat, I do like the block. Do they have a picture of what the entire quilt looks like?
Yes it was a lovely snow day. We got around 5 inches of snow. Honestly, could have had school. Looks like another major storm is heading here Tuesday .....10 inches possible!🙏 I will be starting a bracelet this evening.
Hi to Meg Ginny

Ginny, I can't remember which day it was..maybe Monday ..we had quite a bit of snow and the wind was bad so everyone though school would be cancelled. It wasn't though. My dd kept her kids home anyway because it wasn't safe to drive and she didn't want them walking in that bad weather.
I hope things go really well for you in making the bracelet. ARe you making them for your daughters?

Hello everyone. I have been keeping busy. Yesterday I pulled all the boxes of yarn out of my closet and I decided to gove some way today at Knit Wits Gp. I put it in a box we keep for yarn and it was all gone when I went back.
Phyl. my Knit wits Gp. is a very social Gp. We chat and share ideas . The Library provides coffee and tea and we bring snacks and it is fun to visit with everyone. I am sure it is much the same with your sit and sew Gp. It's good to get out and visit with others who have a common interest. You mentioned that you were snowed In do you live in Iowa? I lived there many years ago and I remember the snow.
Ruth, that was very nice of your DGD to make a card for you. That is very special and I am sure you will treasure it.
cj, It would appear that you enjoy checking out Quilt sites just like enjoy checking out knitting & crocheting web sites. What I enjoy is looking at the color combinations.
Ginny, I am glad you didn't have to drive a bus full of kids when there is snow on the roads.
It was about 70 here today and a very pleasant day . I think that will continue over the weekend. I could get cold again.
I am tired it was a busy day.
Good night.

Good morning! Meg, good to hear from you! Has your knit wits group adjusted to a smaller room at the library? Glad that your box of yarn has gone to good hands. I wonder if someone came in using yarn donated by you if you would recognize it. How are you feeling? Have the iron infusions helped?
Ruth, good thing that DD kept the kids home in bad weather. Even when school is open, common sense should prevail.. kids walking in too much snow and wind is not a good idea!
I made one bracelet. It's not done..... will ask DD when she gets home if she thinks it is worthy of being a gift. Big storm headed here Tuesday into Wednesday. 16 inches of snow predicted. I am so thankful that Ds is off work this week! He has a long commute.

Ruth, regarding the friendship bracelets, one you tube used a clipboard to hold the DMC straight. It's a good idea! Also a good idea to be sure that the bracelet does not unintentionally twist as you are working on it. I think using tape as you go to hold it steady might also help. Ginny

Ginny, I saw one youtube where the woman was making a heart bracelet. It didn't look hard but I'd never remember all those instructions and it looks like it would take forever. I don't think I'm patient enough to do that. They're beautiful though and I know my dgds woulld love them but the time involved...well I don't know if I could manage that. She did use tape. I think a good clipboard is a great idea. I saw that they have several other youtube videos too with all kinds of the bracelets made with DMC.They're all so pretty. I ordered DMC specifically for bracelets but crocheted. I think I'd do better with crocheting them. Tying all those knots would drive me batty I think...oh, I forgot, I'm already there batty that is

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I was wondering if your group had adjusted to the new meeting area too? Hope you enjoyed that mild weather. I do enjoy looking at quilting websites and I read several blogs too, when I have time. Ruth - I love to look at the color combinations too, it's amazing how we can all pick someting different. Ginny - We're supposed to get some snow on Mon-Tues also, but I hope it's nothing like what you're getting! I'm glad you got one of the bracelets made, hope DD thinks it looks good. For the new BOW quilt they don't have any finished quilt that I can see yet. This is just the first week and there are about 5 different quilters submitting the blocks, so I don't know when we'll see how the layouts will be. I'm thinking there will be more than one layout choice. Phyl - Hope you are doing well and getting in some crafting. I went to JoAnn Fabrics today and bought a new Rotary Cutter and some blades. They were on sale for 40% off and I had a 25% extra off coupon, so 65% off was a great deal. The batting was on sale too and I bought another pack of Pellon Natural which is a 60/40 poly cotton mix. I liked using that on one of the practice quilts I did, so I figured I'd get more while it's on sale. Take care everyone!

CJ, it's always a great idea to get things when they're on sale. If you're going to use them at some point there's no sense iin waiting and having to pay full price. 65% off is huge. I would have bought them too.
Just got done vacuuming my stairs. It's been on my list for awhile. Dh had set something at the bottom by the side of the bottom stair and when I picked it up there was a black widow spider. It was dead though luckily. Dh is always telling me to be careful picking things up because of them. We've had a lot of them in our house over the years. One time when ds was still at home we put one in a gallon jar...I may have already told you this story. We fed it miller moths and it would just wrap them. What it was doing was putting them away for it's babies It finally laid eggs and we had a gazillion baby spiders. The mother then died and all the babies ended up dying too. So what it did was show us that if they're in the house they can really multiply and we have a lot of nooks and crannies that they can hide in. So we do need to be careful. Luckily they don't like being out in the light.
Now going to go and eat.
Have a great day and great weekend everyone. I'll see you later
