Good evening!
Phyl- what a long day but for a good cause. Sounds like you got a lot done at the charity sew! Hope you got some time in to crochet or knit this evening! Oh- congrats on the loss. Any loss is better than none or gaining!
CJ- nothing like a good sale at Joanns! That is awesome that you found a batting you like too- and were able to catch that on sale. Is Joanns a far drive from your house?
Ruth, well I will have to check out crochetting with DMC- perhaps I will be better at that. Regarding the bracelet I am making- or not making- it's only 2 colors and simple knotting. I tried one of the more difficult ones and well, just do not want to put that much time into teaching myself something new. I am looking for something quick, easy and that will use something I have here already. Very funny story about the black widow spiders....glad the one you just found was very dead, however.
Hope Meg is having a good day!
Well, we lose an hour sleep tonight ....yuck. The weather is still showing that we are in for a large storm. Guess we will just have to see how the storm system tracks.
Have a good night! Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and put all your clocks back
Ruth - Ewww, spiders I've had some large ones in the house sometimes too, can't stand any bugs in the house! I'm sure if felt good to get the vacuuming done.
Phyl - Glad you enjoyed your charity sew, hope you got some crafting in last night.
Ginny - I hope you can find an easy bracelet pattern, you'd think there would be one out there somewhere on the Internet, since younger girls like to make them. I only live about 10 miles from JoAnn Fabrics, so it's quick for me to get there.
Meg - Hope you are doing well.
I'm not looking forward to the snow if it's going to be a lot. I don't mind a few inches, but I sure hope we don't get as much as they are predicting. I wasn't planning to go out Monday morning, but with this storm coming I think I'll get out early and get my weekely groceries, and get gas in the car.
I finished putting together my 3 weekly blocks today. It went pretty quickly since I'd already had all the fabric cut. I may consider doing them this way each week - get the patterns, cut the fabrics and then put them together at the same time.
I'd like to get one of my longtime UFOs done this week. I have a small wallhanging size Irish Chain quilt done in green shamrock fabic, with some white and yellow in the quilt too. I have 9 or 10 solid white blocks and I've cut up a green shamrock and I want to applique the shamrocks into the white blocks. It would be nice if I could get them done by St. Patrick's Day.
Take care everyone!

Good afternoon Ladies.. It's after 5 here so after 7 in the east. I hope you're all having a good day. It's beautiful weather here again today. NOt quite as perfect as yesterday but still great. Next Saturday is to be 72. Not typical at all for here. And I'm sure after this coming week of nice weather it will get bad again but that's how it goes here. Last night I was really tired for some reason so went to bed early and actually feel asleep so I didn't lose an hour sleep at all. And CJ, I hope you put your clock ahead not back as you mentioned . Congrats, CJ, on getting all the blocks done. You're really dedicated to your quilting. I've been very lax on my crocheting this week and still have to put together the angel hanging I made for ddil and I still have to make another of the tealight holders. I kept talking about it and still don't have it done. I probably told you about my longest UFO...it's a baby afgan I was making for my cousin's baby who is now about 45. I still have it and the other day I found the pattern that came with the kit. No, I'm not going to finish it because I've used some of the yarn for other things but it is a nice pattern so I might make it sometime using other yarn. On the other blanket I found partly done I did find the pattern for it too just the other day and it does have a chart that I was using to keep track of rows (it's knitted) so if I actually marked down all the rows I completed I should be able to go right from where I am... I don't know that that's the case though because sometim;es I tell myself I'll remember what row I'm on and of course I never do. So after a day of visiting with dh then cooking and baking I'm hoping to spend the evening finishing ddil's gifts. I do have a good book in progress though so I might not get all the projects done. Ginny, I probably have the pattern for the bracelet made with floss in my files. I'll look for it. I've never crocheted with floss before but they do have some really nice bracelets crocheted with thread and the peaches and cream or sugar and cream cotton yarns too. I've made a couple and hope to make more to send to the grandaughters. I haven't sent the completed ones yet. Three are croceted around plastic cabone rings

Good evening!
CJ- glad Joanns is a short drive away from you. I do believe that you are in for some of this storm- I forget how much. Good thing you took care of your shopping and errands....I know how the beltway area gets- many drivers are not used to snow and they act like lunatics when a dusting falls. Smart lady you are....you will be home, safe and sound working on that Irish chain quilt!! Knowing the way you work you will be able to finish it by Friday- St Patrick's day!
Ruth- Yes, I also saw that crochet pattern....but am not going to follow it. I will try two things- one is crochetting a chain (using2 or 3 strands of DMC) - making 3 chains like that in different colors- and braiding them. I do feel confident I can do that and will give that a test run tonight. If not, I will go back to the alternating knot pattern I tried, I now know that I have to really make sure the bracelet does not twist while I work on it. And I will be using a button closure- like you will . Gonna use the buttons I have here and hope I have 2 that match well enough. Ruth, glad you got a good nights sleep.
THe grandma of the baby I made the afghan for just sent me a picture of the little fellow all wrapped up in his afghan. It's wicked cold here in NY- so I am glad he is using that to keep warm!
Looks like Tuesday we will be getting 12 to 18 inches of snow. Think they will close school?
Cannot believe tomorrow is Monday. Have a blessed evening all/ Ginny

Decision made! I really like the way the bracelets come out by making 3 crocheted chains , which I will make using double DMC. DMC is 6 strands, so I am taking 12 strands and making a chain. I will make 3 chains of different colors. Then make a braid of the 3 chains, using a loop and button closure. My prototype came out well and predictable. I am happy😀 .

Ginny, what a fantastic idea!! I know that's going to work really well. It sounds nice and easy too. I'm going to make some of those too. Wish I'd thought of that.It also sounds like it will be really fast. It not only will work great in the DMC but it would work great to use up bits and pieces of other yarns. Some would be larger but it would give variety
It must be cold over the entire state of NY. My brother lives in Niagara Falls and he said it's super cold there too.He also mentioned the snow they got and how he had to shovel it two days in a row which he hadn't had to do so far this year. My next brother lives in NC and it snowed there too.Of course theirs didn't last long. It melted pretty fast
It's so nice that you got a picture of the baby using the afgan you made him.I always think it's really special to see pictures of people, esp children using the items you make. DDIL always sends me pics of the dgc wearing or using the things I make.
