It is interesting to read the posts. My mind doesn't pick up on a lot but I still use it. (That's a joke). I think you are right, there is more to the story. I did like the story of Marines brought into the Oval Office for pictures. George W. would not allow folks to enter without their suit coat on. He has great respect for America. He is also an interesting painter.
May your day be interesting!

Good morning Cat, Seeing George Bush being interviewed on TV recently reminded me of what a very nice man he is. The Bush family have a lot of class. We don't see many politicians with a lot of class anymore. George Bush was not perfect but he was honest and I respect him for that. Have a great day.

Back to the home front. Instead of paying an arm and a leg for carpet for my built in porch we finally decided to have the guy that did the remodel remove the old carpeting, replace any boards that need to be replaced, and paint the floor lilac to match my outdoor color scheme, and I just ordered 2 8' x 10' rugs with grey background and ivory diamonds which can be taken up for cleaning.
Paul Ryan is speaking now about the new American Care Act.

Here is a letter of support from AMAC for the American Health Care Act:
Dear Chairman Walden and Chairman Brady, On behalf of the 1.3 million members of AMAC, the Association of Mature American Citizens, I am writing in support of the American Health Care Act, or the reconciliation recommendations to repeal and replace the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). The provisions embodied in this Act are a vital, first step in the legislative process to completely repeal and replace Obamacare. Millions of seniors were promised time and again by the Obama Administration that they could keep their health plans and they could keep their doctors. The last six years have proved those promises false, and millions of seniors have been forced off their health plans and out of their doctors’ offices. For years, AMAC has repeatedly called on Congress to repeal the Obama Administration’s failed health care law, and to put the power of health care choices back into the hands of patients. As a starting point, this bill lays the necessary foundation for more robust and necessary changes to repeal Obamacare in its entirety. AMAC stands behind several provisions within this bill—all of which cannot be enumerated in this short letter. First, this bill expands the capabilities and use of Health Savings Accounts (HSA) to meet the needs of a modernizing society and the needs of individuals and families. Second, the recommendations repeal both the individual and employer mandates which have unnecessarily cost Americans millions of dollars and stymied small businesses. Lastly, this bill does not “pull the rug out” from those currently on the Obamacare exchanges through its built-in protections for current beneficiaries. Given the constraints of the Reconciliation process, this bill seeks to offer versatility in health care funding mechanisms, relieve Americans from unnecessary taxation, and keep as many Americans insured as possible. While changes will inevitably happen as markups and amendments are made, we strongly urge Republican law makers to keep their promise to fully repeal and replace Obamacare. We applaud House Leadership, Chairman Walden, Chairman Brady, and their respective staffs for keeping the American public as informed as possible about something so deeply personal to all of us. As an organization committed to representing the interests of mature Americans and seniors, AMAC is dedicated to ensuring senior citizens’ interests are protected. While this bill is far from perfect, AMAC is heartened by Congress’s effort to improve access to health care, improve innovation, and give America’s seniors peace of mind that their health care will be protected. For the foregoing reasons, AMAC is pleased to offer our support. Sincerely, Dan Weber President and Founder of AMAC

Gary....is that group one of the alternatives to AARP? AARP stinks with their political leanings....they spend so much on advertising and lobbying....I would like to know my alternatives. Bill O'Reilly once had a segment about AARP alternatives....I forgot the groups he mentioned. And LOL, this is CLASSIC. Anyone remember this: On March 9, 2010, Nancy Pelosi said" “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it” . Mind you, their wonderful "plan" took over one year after Obama took office to come to fruition. Now that the Trump administration is coming up with a different plan, 50 DAYS after he has taken office, Nancy Pelosi says (demands is a better word): House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif) sent a letter Tuesday to Speaker Paul Ryan (R.-Wis.) demanding to know the contents of his American Health Care Act, or RyanCare, before it passes the House. Hahahaha....is she serious? One unfortunate result of Trump winning......Pelosi revealed that she was set to retire as soon as Hillary won the election. Oooopppps. Too bad, so sad. Actually I am kind of glad she is still in her powerful position....she continues to make a fool of herself with her rantings and ravings that make no sense....along with her weird hand gestures that do not go along with what she is saying. Keep on losing seats.....love it!! About the "day without Woman" thing. Guess it was really a non-issue....did not see anything that was accomplished except some patting themselves on the back and reliving their days back in the 60's. Imagine if there was a "day without men" thing. Ha! Some "ladies" don't like to admit that there are things they would NEVER do. Although men are expected to do all "women" things. Think about it....really. Be honest! And what, exactly, were these ladies protesting about? Corporations I've worked for have bent over backward for women....I worked with one lady that spent more time on maternity leave than she did working her job...and then would stir the pot because she was not promoted. Seriously....choose your priority. You can't have it both ways....something suffers, either your job or your home life. Men don't really get to have it both ways either, am I right or wrong? Or maybe I am just not "with it". Why on earth should you get promoted "just because". While you were out, everyone else had to double down on their own work to take up your slack. Or...while you were being paid for not working, the company had to hire a temp to take up the slack. Whatever!! Lin

Lin, AMAC (Association of Mature American Citizens) use to be called Generation America, and is a (the?) Conservative alternative to AARP. It has similar benefits and a weekly online newsletter.
The "day without women" was a non-starter here too. All the women at Walmart showed up for work as usual including the ultra left wing liberal I told you all about.
Maybe we should tell Nancy Pelosi she can read the American Health Care Act after it passes.

What bothers me the most about the reporting on President Trump's travel ban is the emphasis on the fact the 6 countries involved are "majority Muslim" countries, even by Fox News. Why this emphasis - although it is technically true? It just gives the left ammunition to say it is a "Muslim ban". It is NOT a Muslim ban - it is a ban on 6 state sponsors of terrorism. That is what the emphasis should be.
