I'm considering one but I have read so many mixed reviews. The original one seems to have a lower quality video but better battery life and less motion alerts (we have a lot of tree/shrub/bird/squirrel motion lol).
The ring 2 has better video but some people say the motion alerts are constant and, even if you set it to a 5-10ft distance, it picks up motion from 30+ feet away and triggers it.
The pro needs hard-wiring and I'm not that committed yet lol.

I don't and my son is a security system installer.
I'm starting feel like if I pick my nose or scratch my butt, someone is watching me or videoing me and I may find it on Facebook.

I purchased one and took it back for a refund. I got the ring and not the ring two. The video quality was horrible and I was having to take it down to charge it a couple of times a month. I was going to exchange it for the ring2 (because the battery just pops out to charge) but like you, after reading reviews decided against it. I am currently researching my options but I think I am just going to get some cameras that work off my wifi and app to my phone.

Jennifer, lol I understand that We have a camera aimed at the door, but they changed the software and you can't download it anymore. We had to get the camera because they changed our postal delivery and we were having some problems with the kids walking to/from school and taking things from the mailboxes (they were on the house, then the post office did away with the walking route and made us install a street-side mailbox).

I don’t have RING, I have ADT.
I considered RING even though I have ADT because the ADT video quality is quite poor. However, the Evil Empire known as Amazon, having purchased RING, has been making some unilateral decisions about access to and sharing of video with police and others without notification to RING owners and without asking for permission or giving owners an option to opt out. I just feel that, morally, it isn’t Amazon’s decision to make to potentially invade my privacy without permission.

I don't a Ring. I do have a doorbell with a camera through my security system Vivint. It is very convenient. We can always look and see who is at the door even if it rings when we aren't there. A 30 second video is made every time someone shows up at the door. We had a delivery recently that didn't arrive. The company who sent out the delivery insisted the item was delivered to our front porch and left there when we weren't at home. Well, we were at home and no one had come near the door as the camera didn't record anything. We told them this and they tracked down the delivery which they had left at a different house.
The video quality on ours is quite good and you do get audio recording as well.

Not only do I have a camera at the door, but two cameras covering the street frontage; so if anyone claims they made a delivery and conveniently cites the precise delivery time from their record, I can pull video from three cameras covering the time period covering before, during, and after the time they cite and send it to them. I’ve done that with Amazon when an employee skipped a delivery altogether and claimed it was made…they got reprimanded and/or fired.

Not a clue what you all are even talking about Me either. I was going to reply that, yes, my doorbell rings when you push it, but that's apparently not what's being discussed.

quark12000, cathygeha, They are doorbells with audio and video capabilities. If you are away from the house or home and someone comes to your door you can talk to them, plus you have the video..

DotRen , I have the 2 and love it. Maybe have to charge it every 2-3 months? Not bad at all. Have tons of wildlife here and that doesn't trigger it. (I take that back there was a lizard walking on it that got recorded, 🦎 it was actually really cute but that was the only time.) I also don't get constant alerts from outside the perimeter. You just have to make sure you set it right. Also I have an Wi-Fi extender thingamabob (I know there is a name for those things but whoosh it just isn't coming to me.) And that helps with the audio/video quality and the battery life too. (If your router is close enough you don't have to worry about that though.) I recommend it to everyone and bought it for my folks also. I absolutely love it. *I just checked and the last email reminder for a low battery was on September 14th and my battery is still at 72% so forget what I said about 2-3 months. Probably more like 4-5.
