Sue we did buy a place in INdiana but will wait to go there to now dh is thinking February depending on weather. I hope you and your hubby both are well soon. As far as Christmas decorations sound like you'll have more than I do and I'm not sick. Just don't like having to put away a lot of stuff after Christmas and I don't really care much about celebrating with decorations. If I spent more time upstairs I'd put out my Nativity set
CJ, thank you for the congratulations. I'm sorry to hear that you have a migrane that won't go away. It's very draining to have to feel off for any period of time.I agree about the sewing machine but then I don't quilt. I did let the people at the sewing center talk me into a little better machine than I had intended to buy but still very inexpensive esp compared to the one Ginny has been using from the LQS.
Crafting, well I worked on an earwarmer yesterday and last evening and took it apart 3 times. Finally started it over this morning and got it done and started on another.I kept changing the stitch pattern I was using because they either weren't explained well or I didn't like them as I went along. This one that I'm using now is called the mixed cluster stitch and I like it. Seems like it will be a fairly warm on. So back to that now while watching Law and Order reruns.

Good morning, Sue, so very sorry to hear that you are still not feeling well, and now your husband is getting it! You are so wise just to stay put, with your portable heaters beside you and rest up to get rid of this cold. If I remember correctly your caregiver or perhaps it was your daughter did your Christmas decorating last year, which was also simple but sounded lovely. No one says we have to decorate our homes like something from a Hallmark channel movie, and the decorations, while pretty, are not what its all about anyway. Its all about the nativity story - this time of year. Bet seeing all those waxwings must have been quite something! (We had a small flock here about 3 to 4 weeks ago). They are beautiful birds....and they must have been enroute to their winter quarters when you saw them. Such a pretty sight. Stay warm and hope you and your Hb feel better.
CJ-never had a migraine but I hear they are absolutely no fun. It would be great news if this passed quickly and you can get the errands done today that you want to. What do you do to get rid of a migraine?? I know you are looking forward to going to Target for a great deal on gift cards. Hoping to hear that you felt good enough to get out this morning to do that before all the loonies hit the stores. I so hear you about the pricey machines. The ONLY reason I would want a better machine is to get a larger work area, a bit more consistency in some of the decorative stitches and thread cutting. The rest of the fancy stuff, well my old singer does just fine. I know there is a big deal about machines with plastic parts....and I guess I would be looking to improve to avoid plastic parts (in the machine itself) too. Thanks for your wisdom on your Brother. My LQS also sells brother, and perhaps I should consider them too. Did you ever complete that table runner/wall hanging you were hoping to finish?
Ruth, Ok so i have no brain left forgetting that you did complete the tree skirt. But by now you know me, and I am a bit daft at times.

I elected to submit the post because I was going to the next page and did not want to lose it.
Guess Ruth that is a new pattern you are working on? Is the mixed cluster stitch the pattern you were having difficulty with or another pattern? You amaze me with all the different patterns you seamlessly take on. You are very talented, my friend. So now it looks like you are moving to Indiana in February? That does give you more time to prepare for the move, and perhaps find better weather.
Got to the craft fair, which actually had some pretty nice stuff. I bought a lovely primitive nativity scene wall hanging for Dd#2 and her husband. Very pretty....and got some oranges to bring home, sold by the FFA (future farmers of America).
TIme to get in the shower before church. Ginny

Snow today and colder tonight. I'm glad the house is warm. I turn the heat down at night. The thermostat should be doing that automatically, but it isn't. The problem isn't the thermostat. I can't figure it out! It's not rocket science, but that doesn't seem to matter. I may be back later.

Hello Crafters Sue - Hope you don't get too much snow. I'm glad your house is warm with the snow and cold you have. I have issues with my furnace too (it's oil). I set it at 65 degrees at night and usually by 7:00 A.M. or so it turns on for just a little bit and then turns off. Then it registers that it's colder in the room where the thermostat is again and turns back on again just for a little bit. It just drives me crazy hearing it turn off and on all the time (while I'm still trying to sleep) so I end up turning it up so it will run for awhile. But then the problem is that my bedroom gets too warm, even though the rest of the house is cooler. Definitely a first world problem Ruth - Sorry to hear about the issues with the earwarmers, but I'm glad you were able to work something out. I'd love to do some Christmas decorating, but I'm just too lazy I think. I'm sure I will put out some small things, and I'm still thinking about setting up my pre-lit artificial tree which I haven't had up in years. Ginny - I like the Brother machines and they have some higher level ones than the one I have, but there are a lot of good brands out there. My SIL loves her Bernina. You are smart to look at a machine with a larger work area, it does make it easier to work on quilts. Hope you can find something you would or that your own machine is still good for awhile. My migraine went away by the evening, so I didn't get much done yesterday. It's strange that I seem to get them in the afternoon. The mornings and evenings I'm usually alright. I'd like to be able to figure out what triggers them - something in my diet or daily schedule, or in the house, who knows? I did feel some face pressure yesterday, so it could have been more of a sinus headache. So far today I'm O.K. I went out this morning and bought the gift cards at Target. I bought $160 worth of them, so I saved $16. I almost thought about not bothering to go today, but I'm glad that I did. Now I have all my gifts, money and cards ready to work on. Just need to get motivated to do that It's a sunny, cool day here today, but supposed get rain the next few day and up to 60 degrees on Tuesday, then a cold front coming in. As I always say - weather is strange! I'll be checking out the blogs on Slow Sunday Stitching today. Hope you all get to do some crafting. Take care!

Finally found a Hallmark movie that I did not like as a matter of fact disliked. For those of you who do not watch them, sorry for mentioning it.
Sue- is your thermostat programmable?? There are all kinds of adjustments that can be made to a thermostat, depending upon the level of sophistication of the unit. Good news is you have heat.....hope you are feeling better.
CJ- good for you getting out this am and getting to Target. Was the store crowded? Thats a feeling of accomplishment getting your gifts done and saving some money in the process. How nice that the migraine is gone! If they are a problem perhaps if you kept a log of food intake, sleep, and other conditions (change in weather perhaps?) you might be able to figure out what your triggers are. And it sounds like you do not need a list, you are getting everything done without one!! Hope you find some inspiration on the slow stitching blogs.....so much fun to see what others are doing.
Got to church this am and then a quick trip to the food store. I came about as close as I ever have to hitting a deer while coming home- two came running out in front of my car- I jammed on the brakes and hit the horn....it was close but no accident. It would have been a big mess as there was oncoming traffic too who also could have hit one or both animals. All at 10:30 in the morning, not the usual dawn/dusk problems with deer.
Hoping to check my email and then get to work on the Bible cover.
Yes, CJ is right, bernina also makes good machines. I am trying to stick with this local shop if I can for service and to support her. If I do not get my own machine back by the end of the week I will have to ask her for it back and then see what my options are. I am trying to avoid buying from the shop I take classes at. There are many nice people working there, but they always look down their noses at my singer, some have even made a somewhat nasty comment. I feel that by purchasing a machine from them I am encouraging their snobbery. Of course I can buy online, but then am missing the service side. I can also check out what they sell at Joanns- they have Husqvarna there along with SInger. Decisions, decisions.....all of which are eliminated if my machine comes home to play. Ginny

I had a Brother machine one time but I gave it to my ddil. I have a lot of trouble with sewing machines where they end up skipping stitches from the bobbin. So far so good on the one I have now but I haven't used it much. CJ, I'm glad your headache finally went away and it's great that you have all your shopping done. That must be a big weight off your shoulders. I don't shop for Christmas gifts except for a couple little things for dh but it's so hard to figure out what to get for him Ginny, the wall hanging sounds beautiful. I'm glad you enjoyed the craft fair. I love oranges but can't eat them because of my bladder problem and dh gets awful heartburn when he eats them. The pattern I was working on was a different one than the mixed cluster stitch. It was the alpine stitch and I had made one earwarmer in that stitch but lost that pattern somehow and the new one I tried to follow wasn't written well. I may have to resort to following a youtube because the stitch is really pretty but then again, others are too. There are certainly a lot of choices.I'm making some of the earwarmers in RH with Love metallic and crocheting a row of fur on the top and bottom before twisting. I made one of the mixed cluster stitch in a nice red ancd love this stitch and will make a lot more things with it. It would make a fantastic baby blanket. There again different people that have tutorials for making this stitch do it different ways. I picked the easiest one. CJ, I'm lazy too so that's the main reason I don't decorate. But I did decorate some...I put out my Christmoose stuffed animal. I thought that I had sent all my Christmas plushies home with ds but I found this guy the other day so he's my Christmas decoration, It just doesn't seem like Christmas to me. next year I'm talking everyone into Christmas in July then my dgs and his family and dgd and her family can travel here from Montana and we can all celebrate together. Then we'll go to Indiana and celebrate with ds and his family...probably except for his oldest who is married and lives in Taiwan.

Oh actually I lied. We did shop for the two great grandaughters who live here in town. Walmart had a fantastic sale on toys online so dh ordered toys for them and I think that actually he went back and ordered more of them because when they were delivered we found that they were even nicer than we had thought so got some for some of the other grands and great grands...we have small children in both those categories. If he had looked for toys in categories other than for small children, he undoubtedly would have bought even more.He can't resist a bargain.
