It just occurred to me that in a very short time we will be back to January. Where does the time go??
Last night I was texting with my quilting buddy about which fabrics to use where...the kit we bought provided plenty of fabric for the backing (a lovely green Christmas themed fabric with holly on it), a red tonal print (obviously meant for a border) and another off white print- also holly- that I think they intend for the center. The green is in 2 cuts, one enough to make backing, and a second cut, for either border or center. Thinking this through here, I might make the beautiful green fabric my center also, the red for the small border and the white for the larger border....its an easy to sew project. I figure I can get it all done today except for the decorative top stitch.
Think we are in for an ice/snow storm tonight....hope that we keep power. I am looking forward to a day off from babysitting today. I love spending time with the little ones, but a quiet day sure sounds good to me.
enough babbling from me. Ginny

Responding to Ruth’s questions..
Yes a lot of Sundays there is only one child in nursery. My church has 2 services, and I usually attend the earlier one. Guess parents with little ones find it harder to get to that early service. And I am glad your errands are all done for now- and that you were well plowed from the last snowfall. Its so important to have good snow removal in an area like where you live. Snow can hang around for the entire winter- because who knows when it will be warm enough to melt- so patches of snow and ice can be persistent problems for the entire season if not taken care of early on. Have not heard much of your preparations to spend some time in Indiana....how is that going? It must be a challenge to decide what you will take with you and what will stay. I am sure that you will bring enough yarn to keep you happy and in good supply for crafting! Any idea how long a drive it is from your property in Indiana to a store that sells yarn??
Dh is up. Gonna go Ginny

Ginny, I didn't realize you bought a kit. It sure sounds like they gave you plenty of fabric and all the choices sound great. Now with your creative mind you will be able to make a beautiful project! For those that aren't very creative does the kit give instructions? Yes a day of quiet is always a welcome respite. Well for most people anyway. Is this for the Bible cover you're making or another project? How did your dd like her Christmas tree skirt? Was it a surprise to her or did she know you were making it for them? Next thing you know your son will get married and another Christmas tree skirt needed. Prep for going to Indiana has been put on hold while I get the Christmas things done. After Christmas there is going to be a flurry of preparation and cleaning. And yes, It's very difficult to decide what to take because some things need to be left here too for when we come back and we plan on flying back thus being able to take another vehicle the next time we drive there. And this time we're taking our 4wh drive truck and although it's considered a pickup, it really has a small space for things. Luckily there's a little "trunk" under the floor of the bed and it has back seats. It does have room for plenty of yarn and dh has already planned where the yarn is going to be put and "squished" in.Bless his little heart. I'm probably going to be pretty busy there though helping dh to the remodeling in the building we plan on living in eventually. And he has a lot of plans for fishing and likes me to go with him but I can sit there and crochet. Strange thing is though, he mentioned one day that he thought I might take some time off from crocheting. Not going to happen and with him planning yarn placement I'm surprised he would think that. I'm not sure where other stores are but there's a Walmart fairly close. Maybe 10 miles. Of course there's always online and I'm dangerous in online ordering. I got the fpdc men's earwarmer completely finished last evening. I had started another( a different pattern and for a woman or girl) in a really nice yarn I found in my stash. It's a discontinued yarn so hopefully no one falls in love with the color and texture and wants more things made with it because they would be disappointed.Today my plan is to do all the finishing touches on the things for Christmas but I do have to do some cooking too so maybe they all won't get done. I did some of that yesterday too but need to get the items all gathered together in one place and the day is already at least a third gone. Better get busy.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - The fabrics in your project sound beautiful and your placement sounds like they will look good together. Hope you aren't getting too much of the bad weather today. I agree that this month is going by fast - too fast for me, since I enjoy the weather this time of year. Ruth - I hate that you'll have to drive in the winter, but I guess at least you are used to that kind of weather. I hope that it won't be too difficult to get everything read to go. The Walmart sounds pretty close and hopefully there are some other craft stores not too far away too. Meg - Hope you enjoy the lights on your house. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are getting some crafting in. It was sunny here yesterday, but rainy and cold today. We had a bit of some slushy rain this morning, but it's mostly gone. More rain tomorrow and then it looks like some sunny days. I'm glad not to have any snow that sticks. I went out earlier to make my monthly car payment and pick up a few groceries at one store. I need to go out another day this week to mail a few bills and pick up a few more groceries at another store. Then I won't need to go to the store for a few weeks, which will be nice over the holidays when it gets so crowded. I sewed some strips on the blocks for the Rudolph quilt yesterday and hope to finish up with all of them this week. I figured out what I want to do with the other fabric too, so wish me luck that I can finish these two quilt tops before Christmas. I'm just happy to use some of this fabric that I've had for several years. Take care everyone!

Snow bypassed us, and the clouds just kep heading east! Ginny, were a good example of snow staying on the ground for an indefinite time period! There are several inches from a previous storm. This morning it was 13* when I left the house.
This afternoon I am feeling better. It will take a while to get some energy and strength back, but at least I can breathe today.
A friend brought me some yarn from Italy. There's enough to make a short infinity scarf or a hat. It's an interesting combination of 70% cotton and 30% merino wool. Multiple colors - beige, brown, gray, off white. I don't know whether it's going to pool or stripe. It will be interesting to see. My fingers want to get started!

Good evening, Sue- so glad you are feeing better! Now its just a little while longer till you get your energy back, which hopefully will be long before that new snow fall melts. Good news that you are able to breathe comfortably now. The italian yarn your friend gave you sounds so very pretty! Get that crochet hook out and let us know how it works up. It sounds so pretty.
CJ- well life is back to normal, you are back in your quilting ways. Think the Rudolph quilt is going to look so pretty, and I cannot wait to hear what you do with the other Christmas fabric you are planning to use for another quilt top. Now that you are done with your errands, it sounds like you will have the time to finish the other quilt top also.
Ruth, well I gotta laugh and do love your Dh’s ideas for how to get yarn into your truck to transport to Indiana. Keep your resolve- I doubt you are going to give up crocheting much. Good news that a Walmart is not terribly far from your property in Indiana. Sometimes just being able to drive there and pick the color or type yarn is helpful. Of course, buying online is fun too! I can imagine that life will be very hectic for you after Christmas when you start the final preparation for traveling to Indiana. Its going to be a challenging but exciting time of your life. Sounds like your Dh is looking forward to the challenge and has lots of plans to fix the place up. Were you able to complete all the projects you had hoped to work on today?
We got our table runners made. I ended up using the off white fabric in the center, after looking at the picture on the directions (which the quilt shop sold separately) I realized that using the really pretty white fabric in the center was best. Both table runners came out well. I still have to do my decorative stitching in the red stripe...which I will do once Dh goes to bed. Funny when I got to my friends house....Pastor came out and with a big smile on his face asked “is your machine repaired?”. Of course he said it with a big smile on his face... We had a great time sewing together (his wife) and hope to do this once a month, working on a project together.
Hope that we keep our power tomorrow so I can finish my friends Bible cover. Looks like schools will be closed with a snow/ice event. As far as the table runner goes, the quilt shop sells the directions, and precuts fabrics that coordinate well for the kit. Its a super simple project and comes out looking great. An easy gift to make.

hi girls, today was a good day.I would say a blessing day.
appointments with the nutritionist and diabetic nurse went very well. I like Angela the nurse.
AS I came out of the room my doctor is coming down the hall. we said hI,MERRY CHRISTMAS and gave each other a hug.
then it was meeting at Barnes and Noble for lunch. their prices are expensive.so we went To the food court for coney island and a HAM SANDWICH.' got home and my oncologist nurse called. I am to stay on my same dosage of meds I have been on.platelets weer up a little bit. no a big jump as last month. she said he reviewed the test. so now no labwork till january23.
Don got home a little after I did. he stands here holding a box.he got mea 32 inch white fiber optic tree from Menard's. so now I will have 2 of them. I decorate the basement .so far behind not sure what if that will happen this year. I am so far behind.
have not done any crafting since home.
good thing we had good weather going and coming back from ky. this weekend Indinania got dumped on.
RUTH when I sent yarn with SANDY for Judy to az, Sandy said put it in a bag then we can squash it to take it and fits better.
Ruth could it be dh wants you to pay more attention to him then crafting?it can get boring when nothing is biting..phyl

It seems like a lot of people are just now putting up decorations and that seems to me to be quite a waste of time since it's just over a week before Christmas Eve but that's just me and everyone has their own preferences. The day after Christmas I'm ready to put everything away.
Phyl, you're probably right about that. It does get boring sitting there and no bites. One time when we were in Arkansas we kept getting tiny fish so I got tired of taking them off and throwing them back so I left a little one on and cast the line out again. Very soon I could tell I had a fairly large fish on my line. I reeled it in and it was a good size bass. Dh was taking it off my hook and said "look he has a little fish in his mouth" so I told him what I had done. The next week or so he ended up doing the same thing and he, too, got a good size bass. We mostly throw all the fish back. I don't like fish and dh can only eat so much. My fish of preference comes from Long John's or where available, Captain D's
Sue, it's wonderful that your friend brought you that yarn. If someone gave me yarn like that I'd be saving it for a special project and it would probably end up never being used. I'm a great saver of anything special
CJ, I'm glad to hear that you got all your errands done and will be able to just take it easy over Christmas and maybe New Years too. Maybe by the time you have to go out everyone will be over the insanity of the holidays and drive better. Well I drive so seldom nowdays that I'm not longer used to driving at all let alone in bad weather. We keep hearing of all the people being killed on the highway due to snow and moving our departure from here date which is fine with me. I'm really good at procratinating.
Ginny, I get it now. You did a table runner with your quilting buddy, your pastor's wife and I believe you said the Bible cover is for her so you will do it when she is not there so that it will be a surprise. I think it's a great idea to get together once a month to sew!

I want to go buy the dishwasher, but I just don't have the energy. This morning I woke up late and finished reading a book while I had two cups of coffee.
When I first moved here I was lucky in finding a great guy who worked at an employee owned appliance store that had locations in six or more Montana locations. I used to be able to call him for the rental locations and let him know what I needed. The last time I saw him was probably eight years ago when I replaced all the appliances in my kitchen. Around that time, one of the key people in the chain embezzled large amounts of money. He's in jail, and the stores wound up filing for bankruptcy and closing. The very loyal employees lost all of their retirement plan. My contact is working for a very high end appliance outfit. In the meantime, there is finally a store in Montana that has multiple branches and is fairly close by and has proven to be reliable with conscientious personnel. The prices are competitive. It's just a matter of getting there.
The sun is shining, and the temperature is up to almost freezing. The lows for this week will be in the mid 20s.

Hello Crafters Sue - I hope you can get out soon and get a dishwasher and don't have any problems with buying it. Phyl - I'm glad your medical appointments went well. That was nice of your DH to get you that tree. Ruth - I love Long John Silvers fish but all the restaurants around me closed We do have a few pretty good seafood restaurants around (being near the Chesapeake Bay), so it's easier to get good fish. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to finish the table runners, it's nice that you had a quilting buddy to work with. It was rainy and foggy here today but the next few days are going to be clear, so that will be nice. I'm hoping I can finish some errands tomorrow and then maybe I can stay out of the stores until after Christmas. I'm going to attempt to purchase a desktop computer again, maybe this new store will want to sell it to me, unlike Staples I spent some time this morning sewing the sashing around my 25 rectangle fabric pieces and finished that. I was scared I was going to run out of one fabric and I only had a 3/4 inch strip of it left Now I just have to sew the 5 block rows together and then sew the 5 rows. I may try to get to that later. Then I want to put a border around it, so I need to figure out how large to make it. I have a lot of the fabric so I might go anywhere from 4-6 inches. I'll lay it out and see. Take care everyone!

CJ- best of luck buying a computer! I am sure you can find some good deals out there now, and hope that one of the big box stores has just what you are looking for at a good price. Wow you sure got lucky with just the right amount of fabric!! GOod idea to layout the quilt first to see how deep a border to make....it sounds so pretty.
Sue, gee it must be the season to buy appliances. Are you looking for something with immediate delivery? I would guess you will have to wait till next week to have it installed.
Ruth, do not blame you for not decorating, especially knowing that you will be moving in a few short weeks. I like enjoying the Christmas decorations for a long time. My friend puts hers up for a week only. Its all personal preference.
Phyl, your doctors office sounds so pleasant with some very caring people. Indeed you are blessed to have them taking care of you. A blessing day indeed.
Icy here, so schools were closed. I did some laundry, (slept a bit late this am!) and will be pretty much finishing the Bible cover shortly. I hope that it fits my friends bible- they did give directions on how to measure, so as long as the directions are good i guess I am ok.
Have a good night all Ginny

Sue, I hope you can find a good dishwasher at a reliable store. Is this one for your home?
CJ,I'm glad your weather is clearing up some. It was cold today and horribly windy but the sun was shining at least. It sounds like you're coming right along with your quilt top. As Giy said, you were sure lucky to get that part you were working on fdone before the fabric ran out. I hope you can find a good desktop computer nearby.
Ginny, I hope if you go out tomorrow that you'll be very careful. It may still be a little slipery. and I hopw you're able to get the Bible cover completely done. It will be another thing off your mind.
No I didn't get my finishing work done yesterday after all. After all the cooking and some cleaning I ended up with a stomach ache and had to rest and ended up falling asleep early for the night. I'm working on finishing today and have maybe half done. Tomorrow we're probably going out to do a little shopping and then I can do some wrapping of the gifts that are done. I'm only wrapping dh's and for the youngest dgs and the two dggd's. The rest can just pick out whichever gift they want. Decided that only those under 18 will get wrapped gifts. For the family in Indiana I send money and my ds and ddil are very creative in using it and seem to get a LOT for the money.
Dh is napping and I'm kinda watching the football game from last night that I recorded and crocheting at the same time except right now when I'm on the computer of cours

Good afternoon.
Ruth so sorry that you are not feeling well! Lots of stomach bugs are fast movers and I hope that this one is just that.
I am so lame, on my phone.... and cannot remember the rest of what Ruth posted. Will be back later when my brain is engaged. Ginny

The whole WW forum has been skewed off to the side. Very strange. It straightened out when I finally found a place to reply. Then I had to go back and read!
I think I'm going to wait until after Christmas to get the dishwasher. Yes, it's for my house, so I don't want to settle for something I don't want. I just don't feel well enough to make a good decision. Sinus pressure, etc. I'm sure I'm not contagious anymore.
Tomorrow is the quilting group Christmas party, and I do plan to go to that. I have to put together a salad, and I don't want to go to the store, so I looked up rice salads, and I have red and orange bell peppers, beans and corn, so I'm merging several recipes to create a confetti cowboy salad. One recipe suggested using basmati rice, and I have some.
Last night I fixed bacon and eggs for supper. I thought hb was using problems chewing as an excuse to not eat foods he doesn't like. I'm wrong. He loves bacon but said he couldn't chew it. I've talked about blenderizing foods for him, but I need to do it now, not down the road in the future.
Ruth, have you thought about renting a small u-haul trailer for this first trip?
