Good afternoon. Iβm in today. First time in awhile. Did some housework this morning , a little homework , and now I am scrolling social media and reading a book π drinking my afternoon coffee. Gonna take the daughter into town later to do a bit of Christmas shopping then come home to my cozy nest and read some more. Iβm trying not to think about eating everything in the house. I am really feeling this hibernation in winter thing right now - even though it is nice and sunny outside. Have a great day everyone π

I keep saying "The world is too crazy and I'm too grumpy for it".
The other day my 9 year old niece held the door open at a restaurant- 7 adults walked in and only 1 said thank you! She has better manners than that

Heather you're not being grumpy. I would be APPALLED if my girls have the nerve to sass the teacher. It is not allowed and they know exactly what will happen to them if I ever find out they do.
Their dad and I read a few interesting parenting books when the girls were born and although we disagree with the extent to which tiger mom went, one thing she said that really resonated with us was was American parents these days tend to undermine the authority of the teachers and it sets a bad precedent for the kid to think they can disrespect the teacher's authority as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the kid is being a little shite because his or her parents have either badmouthed the teacher in front of the kid or they allow the kid to talk to them like that too.

Exactly Mike! I especially can't believe it when it happens here. One freaking rule. Be nice. Not real hard to understand. I'm not talking when things get heated in a discussion, I'm talking about a person making fun of someone's grammar and then getting all pissy when it gets pulled. Really?!? There are 85 million snarky nasty boards where stuff like that is not only ignored but encouraged, we obviously are not one of them. π Haha I must have missed the drama! Did this happen here?

hpeterson1951, it isnβt you. When the world of education became a place where students and parents had all the rights and teachers had none the stage was set for chaos. cc: finreporter, linda72

they allow the kid to talk to them like that too. DING, DING, DING! YOU'RE THE WINNER! My kids aren't always as "yes mommy" as I'd prefer but anytime they try to sass me my response is always "I'm sorry what was that? Would you like to repeat that again?" Seems to be reasonably effective but they still have their moments. Especially as they get older.
