Good morning and Happy Monday all!! Meg, great to see that you stopped in. We are so happy you are back with us on a regular basis. I can easily see why working on a hat is a good project to take to knit wits. You are absolutely right that an afghan is a large project and challenging to transport while working on it. Even in the early stages when you are setting down the foundation chain its ungainly. Is the hat a gift or something you are donating? In your area I am not sure how much winter you actually see...Nice that you are getting to see Dd tomorrow and I hope that it is a pleasant visit with her. I am sure you will miss spending Christmas Day with Devin, but you are blessed to see him most other days of the year. In case you do not stop back in, Merry Christmas to you and your family- and may you all be blessed with a year of health, peace and joy.
CJ- sounds like you had a nice time visiting with family. And those young adults?? Well they will probably always be babies to you, guess that is just the way that it goes. Did you have to travel far to visit with them? I am sure this was perfect for you as the traffic is not so bad yet. I heard something on the news about bad weather in the Virginia area. I know you mentioned that your temps were not bad, and I hope that you can now just stay home and enjoy a few peaceful days. What project will you be working on next? I thought of you last night- Dh and I are going to travel to Lancaster in April to see a play and get to our favorite Amish farmers market. We even bought our play tickets to coincide with the day of operation of this farmers market so we can enjoy that. Perhaps we will take in a quilt shop or two....ha ha ha ha
Ruth, I will get that recipe out for you and send it to you for the cheese cake. I actually have a recipe for a pasta dish-its sort of like baked ziti, that turns out well, its easy and calls for cottage cheese instead of ricotta. I am not a ricotta fan...but this dish I do like. Its pretty easy to make also.
BB in a little bit

Ruth, so sorry that your Bills lost....I did see some of the game and in the beginning it sure looked as though the Bills might win. I did not make it all the way through the game, actually was surprised to see that the Buffalo lost.
Ok better get busy with my day. Am hoping to work on the Bible cover a little bit, but am unsure when that will happen. Dd and the grandkids are coming over for a brief visit, and Dd#2 slept the night here ( DSIL was travelling to see a friend and she did not want to be at the apartment alone overnight). So for a brief while I will have everyone here- today is one of Ds scheduled days off.
See ya later ! Ginny

WEll Christmas plans have changed. Our oldest dgs and his family came here from Montana And are leaving this evening or early tomorrow
So wilso we're going over to dd's house today. Since we're going today to see dgs and dggs we'll just take everything over today and call it Christmas. Then we can just relax the rest of the week and probably next week too unless we go out Thurs after New Year's day.I rushed to get the gifts wrapped that needed to be wrapped so that's all done.
It's a nice day here weather wise pretty warm with wind though but it's not as bad a wind as a lot of days.
So I'll see you all later

Hello Crafters - Merry Christmas Eve Eve to you all meg - I'm glad you were able to get to your Knitting group and received some nice gifts. I agree with you about working on smaller projects, they just seem easier. I'm also glad you finished your shopping too without much trouble. I can imagine the stores will be busy tomorrow. I hope you and your DD have a good day tomorrow. I do watch some of the Hallmark movies and enjoy them. I have a few movies on DVD that I want to watch, they are British and a bit quirky, but I like them. I also love to watch "The Bishop's Wife" with Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven every Christmas eve. They play it on Turner Classic Movies, but I have the DVD too. Ginny - Did you get the bible cover finished? I'm happy that you will get to travel to Lancaster for a play and some shopping. I have never been there but everyone says it is so nice to visit, shop and eat there The great nieces and great nephews I was talking about are all in their early 20s, but still "kids" to me. I was fortunate not to get that bad weather like they had down in Williamsburg - that was a terrible pile-up of cars. They are saying it was probably freezing fog on the road. The pictures sure are scary to look at. Ruth - I'm glad your weather is better and that you can have your Christmas today with family that is in town. Then it will be nice for you to relax the rest of the week. Hope you had a good time today. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are doing well. It was a nice day here, in the 50s. I'm glad the whole week will be like this. I do have to go out after Christmas but fortunately don't need to go out the next few days. I finished the second Christmas quilt top this morning and it's alright, but I'm not that happy with it. But it's done now and if I ever do any machine quilting it can be one that I practice on. I'm much happier with the Rudolph quilt. I want to finish the hand quilting from the project I did in the class I took in October, so I might try to work on that the next few days. I also have a bunch of scraps that I've been throwing in a pile (from the last few projects I did), so I want to go through them and just throw out what is trash and keep what is usable. Take care everyone!

Ruth, that is a big surprise and a change to your Christmas celebrating plans. I am glad that it permits both you and Dh to settle in more and relax after tomorrow.
CJ- congrats on getting the second quilt done. Even if its not your favorite project I am sure you learned something during assembly so it was not a waste of time or effort. Think its a great idea to work on your hand quilting project and sort through those scraps.
got a little bit of work one on the Bible cover, which I should be able to finish tomorrow. Ginny

It looks like I'm way behind on responding to posts
Meg, it's a fantastic idea to have a small work in progress to take to Knit Wits with you.An afgan is really, as you said, too large to carry around.
CJ, it's good to hear that you got the second quilt done. I bet it's beautiful because mostly we're our own worst critics and what we think is lacking will, to someone else look wonderful
Ginny, it's good to hear that you got some work done on theBible Cover and I do hope you will be able to finish it tomorrow. It's wonderful that your dd's and your grandchildren were over visiting and even your ds had the day off. I hope you had a wonderful time with all of them.

Good morning! By now Ruth is sleeping and here I am wide awake on the east coast....just funny how these internet relationships work. Glad Ruth checked in last night. Ruth, I hope you had a lovely visit with Dd and her family, plus got to see DGS and his family before they left to return to Montana. And I am lousy at distance, not knowing how much of a journey Montana is to Wyoming...I do know both are a long drive from NY - but that is about it.
CJ- glad you got that second quilt done. Think its an awesome idea to use that to practice machine quilting on. I know each of us has a favorite aspect of quilting (for those who quilt). Some like cutting, some piecing, some sewing and some the actual quilting. Once you get the hang of machine quilting you might find you like it. Gotta say it takes a boatload of practice. I would never say I am really good at it, but am improving. Did you make it through your scrap pile? You sound like one of those folks who can turn a scrap pile into a magnificent piece of art in the form of a quilt. And if you get a chance to travel that far....give Lancaster a try. Great restaurants, and the farmers market is wonderful. Its all become commercialized however, so you kind of have to pick and choose and stay away from the crowds. Not all that hard to do however. And there are some great off the beaten path Amish quilt shops too.
Gonna make another cup of tea and get back to work on the Bible cover. Lets hope and pray that this one comes out well and I can finish it soon. Think I only need a little more than an hour on it and its done. Ginny

Yes it was nice seeing my oldest grandchild and oldest great grandchild. Last time I saw them was when the 3 year old was 8 months old. Three of my four great grands were there as well as five of my six grandchildren that belong to dd. I got baby time in too listening to the awesome cooing of a 3 month old. She is such a happy contented baby. The three year old dggs and 2 year old dggd had a great time playing together. I don't think dggs has playmates when he's home. I don't know how far it is from the Bozeman, Mt area to here. Sue may know. I could look it up but am too lazy.
I was in Lancaster once. I one time took my youngest brother and my sister in a trip to WashDC, Atlantic City before it was a gambling town, Gettysburg. Williamsburg back when they were just getting started on what they have now, and we also went to Lancaster and actually took a little plane ride flying over the area. It had to be probably in 1968 or so.
Ginny hope you get the Bible Cover done. Your friend is going to love it.
CJ, quilting is such a good hobby. You must have a great feeling of accomplishment at times like this when you finish a project
Meg, it's always so great to see you come in. Janet will love being home, I hope you have a good time with your family
Phyl and Sue, I hope you also will enjoy the holidays

Hello Crafters - Hope you are enjoying your Christmas Eve Ruth - I'm glad you had a good time visiting with family, I'm sure seeing all those little children was fun and a joy. Ginny - Hope you were able to finish the bible cover. Meg, Phyl and Sue - Hope you are having a good day. It's still nice weather here. It's always strange when it isn't cold at Christmas, but I'm not complaining. I haven't gotten to any crafting today but I did make my gingerbread (Betty Crocker box mix) that I like to have every year at Christmas and I've been enjoying some of that. Otherwise, I don't have any special cooking planned for this holiday. I did that the last few years and just wanted to take a break this year. Hope you all enjoy your meals and get to spend time with family. Take care everyone!

Ruth, so very glad you got to spend time with your precious family! What a blessing to listen to a cooing baby.... and see those great grands and grand children.
Ok will BBL. Wanted to check in to say hi. Ginny

CJ, yes it seems like here it always is not really Christmas weather which used to be a good thing because we travelled to dd's house and didn't like having to drive in snow. Now today was over 50 again and was supposed to be the same tomorrow but now they've changed their minds and say that we may have snow after all. I don't care because I'll be right here safely in my home. The gingerbread sounds very good and ,as Ginny said, I bet it made your house smell great. I used to love the gingerbread my mother made and put lemon sauce on. And yes, seeing those very small children was a huge treat for me. They are all so well behaved. There was another 3 year old there too when we first got there. It was the little boy who's baby brother was beaten so badly by the mother's girlfriend. He was very quiet and well behaved too but he wasn't there very long. I didn't see her but I guess the mother came and got him. They all played so nicely together and later dggs' mother read then a story and both were sitting on her lap as she read.
Ginny, i hope you got the Bible cover done and that it fits your friend's Bible. Also Christmas Eve services are always so nice
Merry Christmas to all of you!!

Hello Crafters - Wishing you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! Hope you have a wonderful day Ginny - I'm glad to hear you finished the bible cover and I'm sure she loved the gift. Did you go to a late service at church yesterday? Hopefully they had lots of wonderful Christmas music. Ruth - I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed those little kids, they really make Christmas fun, don't they? I'm glad your weather has been nice and you didn't have to travel in the snow. Meg, Phyl and Sue - Hope you are enjoying the day with family and/or friends. I'm hoping to work on the hand quilting today. I did get some of my work table in my sewing room cleared up and want to finish that today if I can. I have some larger pieces of fabric I need to put away. It's so much nicer to work on things when there isn't clutter around. I've been listening to some music shows on PBS today. There is a hand bell choir one later on that I want to watch. I've always found the hand bells fascinating. I was all ready to watch The Bishop's Wife on Turner Classic Movies last night and when I turned it on it said I wasn't authorized to watch the channel. I rarely watch it and hadn't realized that my cable provider had made that an extra pay channel. They put it in with a Sports and Entertainment package that you have to pay extra for. I think that is such a rip-off for the customer. How many people watching movies on TCM also watch a bunch of sports channels? Well, maybe more than I think but I'd be surprised. I already pay too much for cable so I'm not signing up for it. I do have the movie on DVD so I can watch it that way if I want. //End of complaining// Take care everyone!

Merry Christmas to you also, CJ and to Ginny, Sue, Pat, and dear Meg. Today will be a day like every other day except remembering that there is a reason we have Christmas and spending time reading some of His words
Also CJ, you're right about our work area being organized. My crocheting is pretty portable. I don't have to stand or sit at a table but most of my spaces when I crochet were a mess and I straighted out the one area yesterday but it can use more work and the other areas definitely need work.
I'm having trouble deciding on what to work on next as far as crochet goes. I did finish up a nice hat that I had started awhile ago. I do need to make some earwarmers for the grandaughters in Indiana but I'm kind of tired of doing those right now. I could start on son and dil's afgan but I'm rethinking that....colors and design so maybe I will work today on planning on how I want to make it and what yarn to use. I'm also already thinking of what I want to make for next Christmas for the people here although we aren't planning on being here next year. And starting on Feb1st all the birthdays start again and I'll have to make some things for two grandaughters and my dil
Well enough of that. I slept late so need to start my day.

Merry Christmas!
I woke up late, expecting to see a few inches of snow. There might have been 126 per square foot. Those that fell were super sized and went SPLAT!, leaving a lacy imprint. Every day is different!
We're spending a quiet lazy day. There may be a little more snow tonight.
